1101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You Experienced Winning Bets By Upsets on: May 06, 2023, 04:24:28 AM
Upsets are rare and profitable and not everyone has the courage to take a risk and bet on the underdogs, but those who do are rewarded with huge profits.

So I'd like to ask

Have you bet on the underdogs and won?

How many times you did this?

And what made you bet on the underdogs is it because of insider tips or just an insight based on your analysis?

Your level of risk when betting for underdogs in the hope of winning by upsets?
Any Dota player would probably know about OG's Cinderella story back in TI8 (which was my most remembered underdog bet). I was one of the few who doubted them at first, but heck, I went yolo and bet on them to win in the finals, and boy, was it hype, both the matches themselves and the result of my win. The funny thing is it wasn't even based on insights or insider tips, it was just because I wanted to root the hell out of the underdog after making it to the finals after all the ups and downs they've had, both before and during the TI.

After that, I often took the time to watch match upsets on tournaments I want to bet in, and try to get a story out of any underdog that I can find. I actually throw away caution in those cases and just bet on them if the story I found (and probably assumed) was enough to touch me, after all, I'm still waiting for another instance of that OG TI8.
1102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling or gaming sites on: May 05, 2023, 03:12:50 PM
Recently one of my friends told me about some gambing / gaming sites  or apps like Orion Stars, Milky Way, Fire Kirin, Gamevault, Riversweeps,   Ultra panda and few others.
He told that these are very popular games but i told that i am not aware of these sites. I first thought that they could be gaming sites but later i find out they have gambling games and are in fact casino.

A few of the sites / App links are http://web.pandamaster.vip/game/pandamaster/ , http://web.orionstars.vip/play/orionstars/

Has anyone known and played at these sites? Do let me how was their experience and what sort of games are there ?
Are they pure gambling sites or a mixture of gambling and gaming sites ? Although you need coins to play at these sites and you can redeem the winning coins into fiat money.

First time I'm hearing of it. Kind of scared how the moment I looked it up, a bunch of sites offered its APK file version but seeing as a few others have said that their friends use it, I don't think it would go as a scam. I do reckon they just offer the same types of games though, simplified slots, dice, and stuff like that. I hardly doubt you can call them 'gaming sites', if you're definition was the same as mine (since I tend to separate clear-cut gambling games from "games" itself).

I did find how orion stars (and probably a few others) are sweepstake games though, so I don't think it can be considered gambling (afaik the US technically doesn't count sweepstakes as gambling since it's free entry).
1103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: May 05, 2023, 04:08:55 AM
~
Booming of internet is big reason why this industry became so big. And many people which have an idea how to operate a casino create their own that's why we see a huge spike of this industry plus we can add up the pandemic where gambler doesn't have a choice but to gamble online if they want to entertain theirselves. Esports scene is expected to grow big as many institutional investor are pouring money there so gambling platform take a chance to ride up the fame and up choices to bet so that they can gather millions of profit in return.
That's the point. Any type of business related to offering services (specifically entertainment ones) would've boomed imo with the advent of the internet, not to mention this was gambling, which in of itself is already a big industry. Pandemic just rushed the development imo since regardless of the pandemic happening or not it would've grown a lot.

Plus, the internet itself is starting to liberate that dumb mindset that gambling=some evil being. People are being educated more and more at a younger age (though it also has some considerable consequences, but that's a different topic) so it's only natural how growing people start to accept gambling itself and maybe some would even partake in it.
1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Promising altcoins? on: May 05, 2023, 12:12:21 AM
Ethereum (ETH),Binance Coin (BNB),XRP (XRP). how to choose how to distribute the interest on them?
I'd say it still depends on you? I'd put most of it in ETH since it's better known than BNB and XRP, I also still have some with XRP but others are also saying some issues with SEC  (Had no idea really) but if you think that's going to blow over, then feel free.

BNB has had it's up and downs this past year but generally a straight trend, so simply try to play around that imo.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid cryptocurrency phishing attacks on: May 04, 2023, 12:10:05 PM
And our other solution here is to revoke the approval after we used the applications. It's just a different way of disconnecting connected sites, though we also need to disconnect the site from the metamask. And we have a certain website for this, all we need is that we have a balance in our wallet for the transaction we will do here because we are dealing w/ onchain transaction. So we have to pay the gas fee here, and the most popular here is https://revoke.cash/

all we do here is connect the wallet and the beauty here is that almost all blockchains are available to them. Once you see it, you just revoke it so that your wallet's connection to that application will be lost forever.
So we will just do this every time we have an interaction with decentralized applications, Defi or any nft market place just so we can be sure even if we pay a fee at least our wallet is secure especially if the wallet we use has funds.
Interesting, so it's kind of like a limiter to the amount of funds your wallet can send. I'd say it's a lot more safer as a "different way" to connect your wallets, especially if you take full advantage of the limiters that they're used for, but it isn't really something that's going to help after the deed (of being scammed) is already done. I'd say that the beauty of it is that even if you do get scammed unwillingly by unintentionally sending funds to another wallet, it's at the very least limited at first, so you technically don't lose all due to a single dumb mistake.

Anyway on the topic, due research is your best bet, and stay away from anything you're even 1% unsure of as a legitimate project. It severely limits you yes, but it also limits the chances of you getting scammed. It's a person's choice on how they avoid scams/attacks tbf, but the idea of using your common sense and asking yourself a question thrice when trying to invest should be far from wrong.
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: May 04, 2023, 04:08:55 AM
According to the articles shared, sports betting will have the highest market gain in the next few years.
What do you think?
It's pretty damn big that's for sure, but as for it becoming the highest then I can only say in all honesty that I have no bloody idea. I mean it's not like only he gambling industry grew with the advent of the internet, a LOT of businesses have popped up and grew, from small ones to new ones.

If it was solely in the gambling scene, with casinos being it's only competitor then maybe, the sports scene grew pretty big after all if you include how eSports made a name for itself these past decade or two.

Congress has long-recognized the potential harms posed by sports betting to the integrity of sporting contests and the public confidence in these events.

This topic stems from the suspension of Jameson Williams for 6 games because he violated the gambling policy. I dug a little and found out the reason for the policy. My understanding of this is that there are two sides to sports betting, the gambler's side and then sports contest games. But this is the first time I am reading that sports betting can affect the game negatively and results in reduced public confidence. Does this apply to the NFL only? What about soccer and other sports? Are they exempted? Let's talk about this.

1. https://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/id/23501236/supreme-court-strikes-federal-law-prohibiting-sports-gambling

2. https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10073237-lions-jameson-williams-among-nfl-players-suspended-for-violating-gambling-policy.amp.html

Isn't it because betting in their own games are frowned upon, if not downright illegal? Afaik it is illegal though. Regardless of the stance if the player, whether they bet on their win or loss, the fact that they gambled on their own game kind of splashes them with cold water which cools down their passion for the match. It's just that bad imo.

Let's not even mention it becoming a rigged game due to that, that may be the worst case scenario, but that's what all people should always assume imo.
1108  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving effects, how long they will last? on: May 03, 2023, 12:18:11 PM
Every 4 years, we expect bull market just because of halving. What do you think when is this chain is going to broken? Ie, halving no longer equals that bull market is coming.
I mean, it's still a reduction to the yearly supply, plus people entering the scene aren't exactly capped as of yet, even if we do consider that a lot has already been invested and know of Bitcoin, the same could be said for the other side who hasn't bought it yet. The matter of when can't really be answered since even if we know how much the rewards get reduced yearly, we don't have an exact number as to how many people go and leave the Bitcoin market. If you were to just solely base it on the rewards, then I'd say by the far end, which is still  decades away.
1109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Questions of the day for gamblers on: May 03, 2023, 04:12:08 AM
If a online casino claims to be a decentralized platform does this mean that their games are fully decentralized too?
No? The hell would a decentralized game do in a casino in the first place? Decentralized games focus on games where player development, economy and whatnot are reliant on players themselves, while the devs simply give them a platform to perform. I highly doubt a casino is a place for that, decentralized or not.
Do you guys know that some casinos regulates their own slots machines themselves, can you gamble with ease of mind on such casinos?

If slots games is all you are good at, are you really good at it or you are just lucky? Can you use the word 'good at it' with slots game?
It doesnt make a difference, slot providers regulate their own slots, it's just a matter of which one you'd trust. As for the slot luck, it's luck, 100%. Even if a person does the same exact action someone else does to play a slot game, the results would still be different.
What is the most convenient games you play on gambling platforms?
Crash. Simple and fun for me.

1110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: May 02, 2023, 02:05:48 PM
~

One day AI will be able take those unforeseen circumstances into account and adjust the probability. And how far are we from that day, it's hard to say. What usually takes 5 years for humans, can take 5 weeks for an AI. I think at this point we have to be ready for a quicker development than we might expect. Most people, as always, will miss the train. Some time later the odds will be adjusted accordingly, but before that happens AI can help some people increase their good fortune in sports betting. Those are my dreams, and they may have never come true, of course. Smiley
I actually think it's the other way around, AI's would never be able to account for unexpected developments since there are close to infinite (if not one) possible events that may happen, so it's instead going to make predictions based on a set data it has. It may create new predictions based on some finite number of circumstances that can be inputted by humans, but in the end it wouldn't (or couldn't really) take into account everything.

Plus in a sense, anything that can happen in one team can also happen in the opposing team, so really, taking into account "unexpected" events in each match is kind of nonsensical since taking their chances into account, they'd just both cancel each other out. I'd say it's going to help more in developing teams in unexpected ways, creating strategies and whatnot, and creating deeper divides between teams with AI assistance and not, plus, it can help make the match more unexpected with those new strategies and the like.

1111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a fan of sports betting? Have you ever considered using Bitcoin sportsbo on: May 02, 2023, 04:15:36 AM
Have you tried betting on sports with Bitcoin? Share your experience in the comments!
Er, the topic is pretty much about Bitcoin as a currency, the type of service/product you use it in can be irrelevant on the discussion really. Now if we we're talking about crypto sportsbooks themselves instead, then that's a different thing, since even with the same currency they still offer different services after all (and to add, I've tried it alright). Kinda ironic really since some services directly kill the advantages of Bitcoin like anonymity, I know it's simply regulations but you get my point.

And to add, pretty sure everyone here, or at least people who visit this section of the forum have at least used Bitcoin in a sportsbook/casino, so I don't really see any reason as to ask if they actually tried it or not.
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it wise to stake your crypto currency on: May 02, 2023, 12:12:44 AM
I guess it depends? I mostly don't trust it, but for some minor coins I don't particularly mind staking them, specifically when the losses I'd incur if things ever go haywire were really low. If it were on coins that I have big investments like Bitcoin though, I'd never go through staking them, way too big of a loss if it ever went under.

Plus, just holding coins most of the time generate profit already anyway, so I'm completely fine with risking it that way instead of leaving it at the hands of others.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Confident Are you With Altcoin In This Time on: May 01, 2023, 01:20:46 PM
I always stand at a minimum of having at least half a confidence in the altcoins I invest it, otherwise, it wouldn't have made sense for me to invest in the first place no? Sadly I never really studied them much in-depth, I just choose some coins that I personally think would grow, most of my metrics being the charts of their past prices and some level of interest of the general public (that I judge on my own).

Well I do tend to let go of them after profiting off, so that may be a part of why I don't judge them that strictly.
1114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why we should play on minor gambling platform? on: May 01, 2023, 05:59:41 AM
~
It depends from person to person. I personally try new sites simply because they catch my interest, whether it be the UI, the style of implementation they do, or the games that they have, it's because I was interested, simple as that. If the casino was a scam then I can only blame myself really. I don't tend to stay on new casinos to play though, I majorly play on well-known sites most of the time, and only tend to play a few bucks around new casinos, at least enough for their minimum withdrawals.
1115  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can we trust 3rd party Slot providers? on: May 01, 2023, 05:10:11 AM
We are seeing more and more 3rd party Slot providers being dropped by casinos over some sort of irregularities.. Stake.com removed all YGGDRASIL games and I also think iSoftbet games from their platform. So when Eddie (co-owner) was asked about this, he just commented that there were some irregularities.. so they removed it.

Try to Google anything about that and you will not find anything, because the industry keep their secrets. My question is.... can we trust these 3rd party Slot providers? Who are auditing their games and who are checking if the advertised RTP are being configured on their servers?

Let's discuss....  Huh
I mean, we(or you) might just be overreacting about stuff like this. it isn't that odd for businesses to suddenly cut the services they bought from other companies due to reasons like cheating or illegal/wrong RTP and stuff like that. It might just be because they're preparing their own set that would conflict with said games or the games simply performed underwhelmingly compared to the money they prepared.

Now I may be looking at this a bit too optimistically, but in the end, we can't really know since we know nothing. Honestly speaking most cases of us choosing a games is just us trusting the provider, so it's really up to our own judgement.
1116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: April 30, 2023, 12:24:50 PM
~
professional gamblers are there mate , they will not be called as professional gamblers if they are addicted or stupid  in this field , those people are known to be expert in all areas of gambling and yes they can control completely their attitude and behavior.
they will not gamble continuously if they knew that luck is not with them,=.
Wouldn't really put professional gamblers up a pedestal about addiction and whatnot. They can still be addicted really, it's just they're more likely not to become one since they've been gambling for so long that they know what's up with it. Being a professional doesn't exactly mean you're immune to being an addict, it simply means you're being paid to do whatever said activity is.
1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: April 30, 2023, 05:02:32 AM
A politician in the Philippines claimed to have had a hand in the development of the very controversial e-sabong platform he operated e-sabong so he can make a lot of money so he can use for the campaign, and his family to win local elections because the election in the Philippines is very costly many candidates are buying votes to secure their win, there were reports that he murdered their family's opponent because of e-sabong.
Wait, wasn't Sabong already deemed illegal in the philipphines a few month (or year) back? Or maybe that was just a recommendation of sorts and my dumbass just misread it or something.

Do you think that government should have a rule or a law for election candidates not to have a franchise in any form of gambling, in fact, there are a lot of politicians who are operators of illegal small-town lotteries this is to accumulate funds they can use for election campaigns.
Hmm, I guess it depends on the stance of that country with regard to gambling? I mean personally to me it's completely fine, it's his money that he used to build a business (hopefully) after all. If the country that they were going to set their business in frowns upon gambling, then yea absolutely. I mean, can't exactly expect their citizens to follow when they themselves are doing stuff against the laws that they set.

But well, we all know how it just goes back to who holds more power, regardless of laws and stance and whatnot in the end.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: April 30, 2023, 12:49:22 AM

If they think it's BS they will never use or believe on it. Not all patterns are found randomly but a gambler can record his gambling activity to have an accurate pattern. They will then use it and expect the same outcome will come out as the past. There are times that they will win again but it does not mean their patterns are working fine. They win because they only got lucky.

To have a confidence in gambling is important because you know what actions you will be doing and you will never regret and say that you should choose the other one that's on your mind earlier but confidence can come in within our own self. No need to fake it by using patterns.
And that's why I say "deep down", cause people will never admit to the patterns or "strategies" they follow as something useless. Even patterns that are based on past games are just bs, if it actually worked then a lot of people would be swimming in cash right now. As you said, they win only because they were lucky, and that's all you need to take into account when talking about gambling.

I don't blame people for using (or pretending) to use it to boost their confidence, it isn't wrong anyway and I myself use it at times. It's part of the fun sometimes anyway, looking for dumb patterns that may (or may not) exist and then suddenly going "hey, that might actually work" only to sink the rest of your balance down the drain.
1119  Economy / Economics / Re: Food Crisis - Improved, Worsen or still the same in your country (No Change)? on: April 29, 2023, 04:26:13 PM
Not really sure, I live with my mom(she handles most of the food expenses) and she hasn't really said anything about the prices being high again so it's either the price went back to normal or people just got used to the high price that it became something natural. Whenever I eat out though the prices have increased in general, but never really went down after that increase in the past so I reckon it's the latter instead of the former. It isn't enough to affect me since we're fine financially, but it may be a big hit for some lower-income families though.
1120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is your stand as a Bitcoin holder. on: April 29, 2023, 01:08:18 PM
Can we make it little more fun with this, i will like to hear from us the place we are standing at in holding bitcoin in comparing to those having much investment in bitcoin otherwise called whales and other institutions or individuals having little portion of their bitcoin they are holding, because at the end of it all, everyone is a holder as long as you've invested.

Here's the percentage of bitcoin holders and what you need to hold to be in each category belonging to bitcoin holders.
~

In my own case, i still finds myself below the last category which means am holding lesser than 0.135btc as at now, can we make it interactive by giving our own standing point as at now.
Not even the last one. I'm still proud though. I mean if we pull out numbers I reckon holders would be at the top (single digit) % among the entire population of the world. Plus it isn't really a competition, even if it was for fun I wouldn't really trip myself into feeling bad since I only hold a small amount compared to the top holders. We're all holders anw as OP pointed out.

If you declare it here, you can declare it elsewhere, the message is to learn the habit of not declaring or disclosing it at all, it is all about building up great operational security. You should also know that some members here have posted things like their telegram username, other social media usernames or even their email; if an attacker knows you have a large amount of BTC, you can become a target through these means, or even through forum pm, they can send phishing and malware links to you, or set up other scam methods to attack you, and if the person does not know the ways of scammers, they could fall for it and lose their BTC's.
I don't deny that it increases the chances, but in the end wouldn't you assume that everyone here would hold a sizeable amount of knowledge with regards to security and proper storing practices? I'm probably pretty lax about it though since I'm not part of those top owners.
