Gensler. Roll Eyes
Quote
Garlinghouse called out Gensler for what he perceives as inconsistent crypto regulation.

He also said that the SEC had not provided clear guidance to the industry, which has led to uncertainty and confusion.

In a tweet on July 23, Garlinghouse argued that relying on enforcement actions rather than legislative clarity only adds to the confusion plaguing web3 market participants and fails to protect retail investors.

"Political Power Play" yes, obviously. They want control, they want to know how much money is coming in, and they want some of it.

Then, an update about the Coinbase versus SEC case.

In response to the lawsuit, Coinbase announced on July 14 that it will be pausing the ability of customers in California, New Jersey, South Carolina and Wisconsin to staking additional assets until “further notice.”
And to those who are living in the places said, pleased be warned.
This is going to be a long journey for Coinbase, but I know they can settle things out. It's just a matter of time before they can clear this sh*t out. Cheesy
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Abuse ... on: July 24, 2023, 10:42:26 PM
what do you think about this?
Do you agree that gambling outside what gambling is meant for is abuse on gambling?
If you agree, what do you think should be done to gambling abusers if there was a way to catch them?
Should they be arrested and prosecuted same way drug abusers are arrested and prosecuted if caught?
The effects are what makes them a criminal and I do think our governments have the numbers of criminal activities which are related to gambling abuse. Now, if authorities don't find it as worst as how it does with drug abuse, then no arrest will happen.
There's actually a big difference between the two, a gambler who abuses gambling doesn't really end up robbing a bank because his mind is intact, he is just stressed out. A drug addict has a different type of effect with drug abuse because it literally affects his brains. IMO.
Should gambling abusers be punished? I don't think so, but they do need help.

Thanks for the link @rdbase. I found out about this Tweet earlier today but actually ignored it because I thought someone is just messing with Elon.  Grin

“bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

I am curious about the "all the birds"? What could he mean by that?

There's also a report that says the tweets will not be called tweets anymore because of the rebranding. I think they are still thinking about a new way to call all those posts and reposts. It will be a difficult change for other people who uses this service, but I think it will be good for the business overall.

It’s a sign that the players are being paid too much money in my opinion. This is why we keep seeing super teams popping up. Players taking less money to team up used to be honorable, but now they are all making so much money that people are praising star players for only taking 35-40 million dollars per year to help their team. Not to mention endorsements make up a big part of their income and they get more endorsements with championships under their belt.
They already know there's a lot of money coming in, so they take advantage of it. I don't think we will see another team who are paid less but can win a championship. Owners today don't even care about luxury tax anymore. They must be making more even if they need to pay that amount. It's business as usual but I am kind of curious how they can still make profits despite building a super team. Maybe a year or more we will see a player making $100 per year and it won't even be surprising anymore.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase on the defensive about these bitcoin ordinal centralized meme coins on: July 13, 2023, 06:59:25 AM
^There's this saying that going against what Jim Cramer said on market analysis is the right thing to do. I don't know about that.

I have never bought this meme coin, not even a single one of it.
Even if it goes as high as a shocking number, I will not. You are right @rdbase, there's obviously someone behind all of this and it's not actually different from other memecoins that was pumped and dumped. It's just a matter of time on when it will happen. These guys could be greedy, and they may want more as long as they can still fool their victims.

Soon, it will be like this.

I don't understand the change to Pepe 2.0, but I am reading a lot of rough comments about it and some investors suddenly doubting because of the fishy move. It will be sad to see a lot of investors crying in social media again but it's the risk they took. I will not laugh either, but it should be a good lesson when worst happens.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another attempt at Bitcoin ETF..You knew it was coming once BTC raised above ATH on: July 06, 2023, 11:03:05 PM
About a month ago the U.S congress was trying to pass a motion to have Gensler fired from the SEC started by Ohio State senator Warren Davidson:
https://twitter.com/WarrenDavidson/status/1668340800940556291?s=20
https://twitter.com/WarrenDavidson/status/1668305460368121857
"The time to restore sanity to @SECGov is NOW. #FireGaryGensler"
https://twitter.com/GOPMajorityWhip/status/1668320560869146634

Being the 4th of July would be a perfect day if this were to become a reality.
I like this idea.
Quote
Davidson's and Emmer's bill would remove Gensler from his position leading the SEC and restructure the commission to redistribute power from the chair to other commissioners, add a sixth commissioner to the body, and create an executive director position to oversee day-to-day operations.
And true, a perfect move for the perfect day.
Quote
Gensler appeared exasperated by the question, beginning to answer, "Sir," before being told to respond "yes or no."

"It was not something I was aware of," Gensler answered.
It all came from the link shared in Fox News.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-republicans-introduce-bill-remove-sec-chair-gary-gensler
His answer is fishy. All they ask is a Yes or No but it seems he cannot answer a "No" too but that is where he is going. Maybe they should try adding a "Maybe." Cheesy
Perhaps this will change the way SEC had been making a mess out of cryptocurrency attacks. The last time was 10+ of cryptocurrencies being charged for something and that includes Binance one of the leading exchanges in the industry.

Back to Bitcon ETF. With the change in SEC leadership, it might also speed up all the incoming applications without the abuser on power.

There’s a lot of optimism here that you’re going to get a bitcoin ETF. - Oanda Senior Market Analyst Edward Moya

I remembered my own thought way back before Bitcoin becomes so popular. The first ones to take the risk will be either get broke or will be filthy rich in the future. And I do believe that is going to happen again.

It's just a rumor for now but Fidelity is one hell of a big financial multinational services and once this news is fully accomplished, there may be another bull to come. They already applied for a spot ETF 2 years ago but was denied by SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission). Now they can do that again and I am pretty sure there will be no more wall that will block them.
A wave up will be coming, I don't think this big companies will be the end of it, there are more to come.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 25, 2023, 12:19:09 PM
Green's decision to turn down Warrior's offer was, in my opinion, a bad one.
What offer? Is there a new one? He just opted out which was part of his previous contract as far as I know so there was nothing to turn down yet. I thought it was a wrong move too but maybe it's not that bad to seek for a better contract and now is probably the better time to do it. There's a lower chance of him getting a $100M 4 or 5 year contract if he waits until next year since his trade value could decline further.
There's no offer yet, I think he just made a mistake about the option being declined.

An article was posted just recently about a Rival cleaning up some space for Draymond Green to be injected in their team.
https://bluemanhoop.com/2023/06/24/golden-state-warriors-kings-green-space/
Quote
The Kings can offer Green a lot of money, something the Warriors will be loath to do with their luxury tax and second apron issues. They also can promise a reunion with former Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown, now the head coach in Sacramento, and keep Draymond close to Los Angeles to continue stoking his budding media career.
If they can, they should. Their team is not that good in defense and Coach Mike Brown will be there, so it won't be difficult for Draymond to make chemistry with anyone.
Use Fox like the Steph Curry of the Warriors for the screen and pop plays and maybe Sabonis too since he can also score in the paint. It will give a different vibe for the Kings especially in the defensive department. Surely, they will be lighting that beam more when it works out.
Dunleavy should make haste if he really wants to get Draymond back because there will be a lot of teams targeting him as most are lacking in defense.

190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: June 20, 2023, 08:45:47 AM
Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?
I will quit, without a doubt. I'd invest on something else and forget about gambling forever. Real Estate, Cryptocurrency, or just save it.
I asked this because those who made some money through gambling near me always go back to gamble and they end up losing everything they once made through gambling.

Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?
That's called greed. That also means they neither have a plan to quit nor erase it in their daily habits.
"The house will always win." Let's not forget about that fact. When you win and you are just using an automated betting system, you will see how much you will lose afterwards. I saw it many times and there's no avoiding it, so if ever there's a chance, I will win an amount of money that will surpass my expectations, then I am out.
191  Other / Archival / Re: No panic while holding my Bitcoin on: June 19, 2023, 11:13:12 AM
Hello everyone, i just want to share my thought here as a newbie, i bought my first bitcoin two weeks back, after spending the first month studying and reading everything as relate to Bitcoin, the time spent on learning and gathering knowledge have started to pay off for me during this period were the price of bitcoin have nosedive greatly.
Let me explain what i mean in details.
First before i bought my first bitcoin, i first of all build a good understand of the market and how bitcoin volatility works, and also learned about the effect of external forces in determining the price of Bitcoin  such as exchange crisis and other governmental policies that can have short time effect on bitcoin.
Secondly i have learned never to panic during any crisis time or when the bitcoin price drop significantly because in the near future it will increase in value again, and also to hold an amount i can afford to look away from for a long time.
This and many more is the reason behind my current confidence in Bitcoin's ability never to let me lose if I hold for a long time.
Indeed knowledge is power, because knowledge can save you when money failed, because knowledge failure is a lifetime problem but money failure in terms of investment is temporally and if I wait I will soon be in profit again very soon, that is what past records have shown and proven.
That's sufficient reason to buy Bitcoin. Never ever compromise your other investments and your monthly bills payment. If you have the spare, buy. There's no need to force buying just because someone said that it will soon be pumped. What if it doesn't? Then regrets will keep on piling in until a panic happens, and you sell your Bitcoin without even thinking it through.

I like it more when I read stories of different people who also first bought the technology. You can also learn from them especially if they make a mistake before their investment plan. Keep it up. Just buy whenever you feel like it or if you can. It will always be your choice.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 18, 2023, 12:57:39 PM
But he is not happy with the Suns anymore, specially the previous owner didn't have him a rookie max contract. And he has issues with their former coach as well, Monty Williams. But since Monty is no longer their coach, most likely though that Ayton will be traded as well.

There's no reason for a team to keep a player who is not happy with the team anymore. It's quite obvious, actually, how Ayton played in the series against the Nuggets. He could not even dominate using his athleticism, and he does not hustle a lot for rebounds. His character does not fit anymore, and since the Suns already have Durant and Booker, who obviously have great chemistry, it might be acceptable to part ways with CP3 and Ayton and replace them with more useful players to pursue their championship goal.
Vucevic might be a good choice for them. Make that Suns' team as offensive as possible and dominate on that area. Perhaps finding forwards with defensive capabilities should be their target too. Kevin Durant is not bad defensively, but he needs someone to back him up as he will be exhausted on doing everything on both ends.
They may not need a guard anymore if most of the time Booker and KD can handle it. Let the play be more on isolations than forcing a chemistry if they want to rebuild.

I love the Denver Nuggets championship parade. Jokic even said it he didn't expect it will be that joyful.

Let's hear that his take on this things. If you cannot get a hold of the live stream, I think they will have a copy of that interview so might as well just use that as you can also browse where you want to go or what you want to hear.

It's mostly like the first vid, but now there's the discussion about latest ideas about cryptocurrencies but I really want to hear from him what his take about the ordinal and Pepe. But I doubt he will in a serious talk like this.
194  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for June on: June 13, 2023, 09:04:39 AM
It's difficult to find a bull when there's so much happening near it. BRC20, Pepe, and more. How many investors, users, customers are now affected by this transaction fees and longer time of waiting? It had never happened for a long time and I though it will never happen again.
The price may stay the same for this month, that's my take. If not, then more reds incoming. I just cannot see any reason behind a bull to happen again. Economically speaking, we ain't really in good shape too. No savings means lesser buyers including the retail ones who are a big part of the growth of Bitcoin.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was shocked that my Neighbor also used bitcoin as mode of payment on: June 07, 2023, 10:37:57 AM
Great. How I wish people could be as open-minded as that guy you talked about. Even though it's just a small store, it doesn't matter. Bitcoin is currency and it can be used as means of payment for anything.
This must also be a tough time with all the Bitcoin transaction speed and expensive fees. His customers won't be able to pay him directly as they might regret the $2-5 fees just so it could enter faster. I have a transaction earlier and it's still not confirmed for 12 hours, that's a dollar fee only because I just want to try how slow the transaction are now.
I hope this problem can soon be fixed for those small shops to accept Bitcoin again without trouble.
196  Economy / Economics / Re: Which stocks to buy? on: June 05, 2023, 01:03:11 PM
Why buy shares if you are in bitcointalk forum and it offers the best investment there is. Buy Bitcoin! It's already a share of just 21 million that will be published. Even if you buy just one of it, someday it will be a big deal.
Stocks are going down unless they are also holding cryptocurrencies. Real estate is also down, inflation is here and soon money will be printed wildly taking the value of each currency. There's really nowhere to run anymore or put our money in, cryptocurrency is the only safe haven if you want the value of your money to either go up or stick to its price for a long time.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 05, 2023, 04:53:22 AM
I was shocked. Shocked I am one of the NBA fans that thinks the Miami Heat is totally underrated and they proved something today. First, they broke the perfect playoff home record of the Nuggets. Second, they started heavy by not letting the Nuggets score for 4 possessions, iirc. Finally, they closed the game strong and did not an overtime happen.
Right now, it got me curious on who will win this championship because before I was so sure it will be the Nuggets. It seems like Erik Spoelstra has still a lot of tricks in his sleeve and it's being shown now. Using Kevin Love in the first 5 was a risky move but it worked out fine. He returned on a play that uses Duncan Robinson as a threat like how he did it against the Celtics, almost like DeJa'Vu actually.

All I could say is, cheers to Miami Heat, that's some good basketball.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Behavioural signs that suggest you are Addicted to Gambling on: June 01, 2023, 12:11:18 PM
Yes, I do agree this is what will likely happen to those addicted to gambling. They lie, they steal (borrow without paying), and it's difficult to understand them whenever they feel the urge to gamble. This kind of signs of a gambler needs some discussion with his/her relatives or a specialist that handles this type of problem.
Before, I had a friend who cannot stop himself from doing the same gambling game on the street every day. I didn't understand why but I know it's not good for him because his behavior when he loses is off, he is always angry and there are times he doesn't want to talk to anybody. When I started to gamble, that's when I understood what is happening to him.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase on the defensive about these bitcoin ordinal centralized meme coins on: June 01, 2023, 11:49:16 AM
Ordinals and BRC-20 makes no sense to me and this will likely drag Bitcoin down in it's transaction fee in 2024-2025 when a new ATH comes. Ordinals and BRC-20 is a big abominations that shouldn't have taken place on Bitcoin.
Abomination. Dude, you hit the right word for it. But I am not sure about other people and there's a ton of supporters who are really hyping it despite the fact that it hurts those who are affected by the heavy traffic and expensive fees today. It really sucks just to see the prices and the time it will take.
And if they will add more, it will be chaos.

A friend shared me this clip, so I watched.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5wFLkvK_uw

I am not done watching it yet, but I heard him say in the first part "The paradigm shift happens every decade." My question is, "Is it the right time for a paradigm shift under Bitcoin?" (even if it's here for over a decade)
It also came from him that Bitcoin is still young. People are just starting to realize how good cryptocurrencies are especially Bitcoin when it comes to keeping their assets. But, when they start breaking it at this early stage, will the investors still see Bitcoin as a good investment considering the high fees and traffic? Bitcoin is his reserves, did he even think about that far before supporting the ordinals. I wish he is not making a big mistake here. I know he takes high risk but isn't this a bit far?
200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 31, 2023, 10:29:10 AM
Statistically wise, I can agree that Denver has the upper hands here.

But like you, I also consider the way Heat is playing. They are underrated but they keep impressing the fans and also those critics
who don't believe that they can make it up to this point.

Much be more entertaining if they can push a do-or-die game 7 but with the way the matchup is concern Nuggets got the height
speed and talents that they can really abuse to dominate the series. Just my personal take on this NBA finals.
They do have the upper hand. If we match players, Jokic has better position than Bam Adebayo, then they have Gordon to defend Butler, Jamal Murray will be against Caleb Martin if I am right, but let's not forget they have two premier shooters MPJ and KCP. The zone defense of the Heat might not work anymore on these circumstances. Every Nuggets player is a threat to them and Jokic is also shooting threes with high percentage, we have seen what he had done against the Lakers where Davis just shook his head to disbelief.
First, I want to see game 1 if the Miami Heat really has a chance, but I will be betting for the Nuggets for now. I am on the safe side on the first game with some spreads for the Nuggets. -5? or -6?
