And then the price was at $1 and I thought "How can a digital money be equal to a dollar?" LOL

Few people remember reaching "parity". That was pretty epic. Now look where we are, and we're nowhere near the top. Someone getting in now is still an early-adopter.

I totally agree with you regarding "early adopter". But why? AT $700? Because if BTC isn't made illegal or the like, I just can't see it NOT being a FIAT vacuum cleaner.
I think the event horizon for BTC is in the months. We really can't see past that. If a country adopts BTC or the like (even as only a reserve currency), it will be over $10,000
in a heartbeat. If the Chinese don't let up on buying and the government doesn't let up on capital controls and inflation, it is at $10,000.
On and on, there are just so many HUGE variables that make people buying into Bitcoin at $700, early-adopters.

Oh, and when I found it at .50 (cents), I couldn't find a place to buy some.  Cry  eheheh
Memory lane...

What were your options around then? I thought there was always the OTC channel and the new liberty standard place. Maybe it was gone by then. I dunno.

I should preface that by saying I hadn't yet read the white paper. I was going off intuition to be honest. I was not into Crytpo before that (just trading and computer work).
So, I did a few searches and it just seemed like a lot of work, wasn't sure about wiring money to GOX.
And then the price was at $1 and I thought "How can a digital money be equal to a dollar?" LOL
So, my ignorance "cost" me but that white paper made a light go off in my head.

Before that moment I was a relatively early internet employee during the bubble. At that time I saw the internet as a big old Black Swann.
When I came across that white paper, I saw it as a Black Swann on steroids.

I enjoy following the bitcoinchannel.com buy. I can read candlesticks fairly well but was never much into looking at the market strength (buys and sells) as a whole - I know, bad, partial picture but the candlesticks and a few indicators always did me well.

Anyway, looking at the market on clarkmoody's site:

Looking for that 100k volume on the buy and sell side - It just moved off $70 on the buy to $65 (a bit bearish). The sell side is on $220 at 100k - keep an eye on that. Total sales have been creeping up since post crash (I don't have the exact dates as have been following it only a couple of times a week.)

Some key figures on the buy and sell side ($70 buy and $300 sell) show that more sellers are coming in at those levels and the buyers are dropping. It is not a huge number so I tend to agree with the bitcoinchannel.com guy that short term things look bearish. Nothing that would make me sell my long term stash.

Can anyone add anything here as it's the part I'm still learning...  Huh

IAS

Ah yes, the memories of "The WALL", lol. Wouldn't it be nice to go back in time and buy BTC at $65???

happened to me also out of my ico account before i even setup my
waves wallet. And there is know one to get any help from.

There is no help if you got hacked.  Just make sure you don't get hacked.  If you are lax on your security there is nothing anybody else can do to help you.

Maybe the hacker wasn't very careful and left an IP address or the like on Google Plays servers when downloading the wallet. Only a part of a big puzzle.
There might be a chance if some information is put together. Too bad.   Cry
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 14, 2016, 09:02:31 PM

2nd largest ICO in crypto, so Polo would be stupid to not trade it.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: June 14, 2016, 09:00:24 PM
Once Ethereum goes to POS and puts a soft cap on, meaning small inflationary rate, with 100 or so million Ethereum being out there, I could see a price of 100 to 200 or so USD per ETH. If Crypto just explodes all bets are off though!
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 14, 2016, 07:06:38 PM
Waves is 50 lines of code. You have all walked straight into a trap. 30 million dollars for dev and zero bitcoins for all of you!

From the guy who calls Vitalik and ethereum a scam.

Oh and here's another thing he posted recently:

Quote
I Just bought 42 waves on yobit for 1 btc! Cheesy Dont want to miss the train  Grin

Cheesy he sure got them cheap!

Right now 42 waves cost .06 BTC! I think the price is actually where it might end up.
For clarity's sake, 1000 WAVES at .00266 = 1.33 BTC
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 14, 2016, 06:59:33 PM
exchanges will not get the code until all the waves have been payed out to ico investors,

once this is done exchanges get the code..

its going to be a a few days..no biggie

Huh, I thought we were waiting on the node code to go out?
Now we are waiting on the waves to go out?

Of note, I have not requested any of my waves. I'm just a bit taken by this rollout.
There was talk of not to be like LISK regarding the DDOS and such, well, we are now a couple of days delayed???
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese - Clamp down eventually on BTC or is it a "Hedge a Money" against USD? on: June 14, 2016, 06:51:10 PM
The Chinese government has been blowing hot, then cold on Bitcoin for years. Nobody can work out what's going on in their minds. With a 10 billion dollar market capitalisation Bitcoin's small change to the Chinese government. In 2015 it was estimated that one trillion dollars was moved out of China. Bitcoin's not big enough to move that much money.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-01-25/china-capital-outflows-climb-to-estimated-1-trillion-in-2015

Yes, they most certainly have. It seems like at first they indeed just wanted to slow things down. Again, I don't think they want to come right out and ban stuff - that is bad in multiple ways (e.g. their image, it attracts more attention, etc.)

True, Bitcoin is teeny tiny, but how long do any of you think it would take to get to a Trillion dollar market cap? I don't think it would be that long once the supply starts to dry up (both with the halving and just holding). I think we will see a 100 billion dollar market cap in the next 3-5 years, but a lot of that depends on the global situation. I could see a Trillion in 10 years. This is NOT going to be linear growth and there are variables at play that we are just starting to realize.

So, imagine they "take" her to a trillion in market cap in 5 years, with 15 million coins out there (much less due to loss and such) that is price of near $70,000. I just don't think that is crazy for what is sort of analogous to a "stock" with 15 million shares and with a world of uses, oh, but it is one of the only "stocks" like it in the world.

Oh, and it would be great if Satoshi appears around that time and sends micro payments to poor areas of the world, just spreading global wealth.

Honestly, I DON'T think we CAN understand what this is before our feet.

190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Chinese - Clamp down eventually on BTC or is it a "Hedge a Money" against USD? on: June 14, 2016, 09:45:21 AM
What is going on in the minds of the Chinese government? Why are they "allowing" Bitcoin to grow and grow? If they are trying to control capital flow, then why not make it difficult to put money into Bitcoin? Of course they don't want to attract more attention to Bitcoin so they wouldn't outright name/ban it imo but they seem to be doing nothing since the early talks over a year ago.

Of note and a bit interesting, this guy Cliff High predicts millions of Chinese wanting into Bitcoin this year using web bots (complicated to explain but if nothing else, fun to follow)! lol. He did call this current move up months ago. Mentioned in this summary report from a YouTuber https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Agi4kug7UJA Related, What is going to happen when even a small country starts getting its reserves of Bitcoin???

On the flip side, is allowing all the Chinese money into Bitcoin not a GREAT hedge against the Hegemony of the USD?
I mean if they inflate the price of Bitcoin with their inflated Juan and they control a large amount of Bitcoin, isn't that a great tool to hold value for the country (or anyone for that matter)?

Sad news!
n

There is nothing sad. How much coins before been launched that devs just didnt care how it will be, hurrying for lainch and threw their coins half done to exchange. Its a pleasure to see professional Team wich are serious people, trying to test everything before launch, make hard work for their project and launch only when they are 100% sure that everything what need to be done is done and make a smooth beauteaful launch with everything working smoothly. It means a lot and means that devs care and respect community and investors. Very professional work. Been involved in crypto for 3 years and I know what im talking about. Im more sure than ever before, this gonna be big success

Cheers.
yeah, no hurry to hit exchange.

Unless there was an undisclosed problem, the bigger issue is Why not just plan this from the start? Why not give the exchanges a 2 day node set-up time?
I'm not selling mine this year, but I can see how this is a bit sloppy.
Patience is fine, but call a spade a spade.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 14, 2016, 08:45:46 AM

Sad news!

Doesn't matter much to me, outside of seeing what happens.
But, why should WAVES be any different than the coins that came before it? If you are planning to go public on the 14th and it takes time to set up the nodes, give it to the exchanges the day before or with enough lead up time. Seems like just a legal agreement, no big deal.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 14, 2016, 06:51:02 AM
Why is everybody in such a rush to get their waves onto an exchange? You cant have that much faith in the coin if your all so eager to dump it straight off the mark. i Dont hold very many but i will be holding onto them instead of making a mad rush to dump them.

A lot of people just want to see BTC profit. They do their DD and try to find the few winners.
I can't judge them as they are helping to fund the project. The "problem" is that if they sell all their coins for the quick profit, they will miss that Ethereum like rise later on.

Personally I like taking part in the experiments and seeing what they amount to (and then deciding later if and when to take out some BTC.)
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES Price speculation on: June 13, 2016, 07:13:55 PM
let's stop speculating in fiat prices. how will the rise of bitcoins price effect waves priced in btc?

It appears that alts were hit pretty hard by BTC's rise but then a point is reached where they stop falling, ratio wise.
I think there is "speculative value" baked into, at least, the quality alts (e.g. Ethereum, LISK, WAVES, etc.)
We can't overlook that these "alts" are much more than that. Ethereum is more of a programmable platform - Who knows the value that can hold in a future IOT's and such.
Same can be said to a point for LISK. As far as WAVES, this also can be huge as integrating FIAT into a wallet with BTC, alts, tokens, etc. can be a very rewarding way to go.
And all of these are just getting started, so where as BTC is money during a time of inflation, capital controls, uncertainty, etc., we have these "alts" who are bringing things
to the table that range from innovation to more Black Swans.

Back to the main topic, maybe once BTC breaks the psychological $1000 barrier we get another drop in alts, tough to say. Remember when LTC used to rise with BTC?!?!
And then when BTC breaks $2000, etc? Gonna get really interesting.

In general, I think BTC would be the one to hold, but should there be some big corrections on the way up, I'm sure some of that "will go" into alts so to speak.
Perhaps measure your profits/losses in FIAT and not BTC. Can't lose with the good ones then.  Grin

Have they mentioned what time tomorrow that trading begins?
I would like to watch the first few minutes of trading, not selling.  Wink

Thx in advance,
IAS
Hello, I have asked it in the slack app. This is what tosch said:
"I guess at some point tomorrow or the day after tomorrow."

So they aren't sure either when it will launch.

Edit: then this was said:

"yes, probably this week ^^"
"most likely"

So this week  Huh

Edit 2:
Sasha came online and said the delay is caused by people filling in wrong addresses, so they have to stop withdrawing the funds and continue when everyone has fixed their address correctly.

So people please fix ur addresses in your ico profile page, double check it!

LOL, thanks for asking.
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: June 13, 2016, 07:00:56 PM
Lisk ICO owners are winning.  it's at .46cents and over 7x ico price.  Don't be fooled by the negativity in this thread, lisk is doing just fine.

Nice way of measuring things - initial FIAT investment.  Grin
I tend to look at it in terms of BTC (as most do I think) as that money would be in BTC and not my bank.   Cheesy

Did anyone notice during the nite the Chinese exchanges were offering up to $100 more per Bitcoin than the west was

source? which exchanges?

I know like a week or two ago I saw Huobi being $50 or so more for a bit. That was a good sign of things to come.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 13, 2016, 04:17:00 PM
Speculation: With BTC pumping and alts Dumping what do you will happen to the price of WAVES short term?

For the last couple of days, most good alts have stopped moving down. I think the relationship of BTC up and alts down is only partly true.
There is a speculative premium across the board imo. BTC is of course the king but Ethereum is now a clear 2nd.
Nice to see LISK up there too, means a lot to the ICO space.
And I have a feeling WAVES will be #2 in volume when released and then be neck and neck with LISK.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: June 12, 2016, 02:42:01 PM
There is blood in ALT markets now and LISK is no exception.

And we all know what they say about blood in the streets.....

BTC = BuyTheCarnage

Syscoin has green. Let's see after this btc pump on what's going to happen, it'll be mostly green.

If you look at the dollar value and not BTC, there is not much blood to see.
http://coinmarketcap.com/#USD

A lot of green, actually.

Exactly!  Alt's are on blue light special.....no reason not to be scooping up anything and everything right now Smiley

EDIT: to be clear, "anything and everything" with value

Hm, I am not too sure whether now is the right time. I suspect alt prices to drop deeper closer to the halving.
As pointed out above, the rise of BTC is due to money from the outside coming in, but if it generates enough momentum, people might start to sell their alts to get a piece of the pie. Once Altcoin prices drop not only compared to BTC, but to fiat as well, would be my time to swoop in. I could be totally wrong here, it wouldn't be the first time. Just a thought.

Well said and that is mostly how it seems to work in general. The new thing is all these ICO's but that is a bit comparable to when new coins would come out anyway.
I'm sure the better ones will adjust less but that depends a bit on those holding lots. Generally more value gets held longer.
Interesting times in Crypto.
