Okay, I am very interested in the open source stock exchange idea. What do you think is the best way to do this?

Thanks.

I think shutdown your internet,
and two new nodes addnode with eachother will be good.

I see how that would be effective but turning off my internet was not really what I had in mind:)

I just think it would be cool to have my own altcoin. How much effort/money would it take to set up?  Thanks

Depends. What do you actually want?

You could change a few lines of code of the official Bitcoin client and you would have an alternative network and block chain. Would take a few hours including tests.

Interesting. I guess I would want to improve it a bit. Faster transactions could be done I am sure. But what about adding something to make it more 51% attack resistant?

1809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I go to a registered Namecoin domain without installing anything? on: December 06, 2011, 01:50:15 PM
I agree. It's far to complex to get it working at this point. Couldn't someone set up a Namecoin Proxy of some sort, so that you could visit namecoin sites without reconfiguring your DNS?

I am pretty sure I saw a website that looked like an address bar that you could use to navigate to namecoin domains.

I just spent 30 minutes googling, trying to find it again (or something like it) and all I found was guides to set up my own DNS server.  Ouch! There really needs to be a lightweight method of visiting these links if this project is ever going to get off the ground.  Nobody is going to configure a DNS server to view their first namecoin site.  Only people who are already sold on it.

What site can I use to view these domains?

+1  this will never take off unless something like this happens.

What sort of hashing power would be needed to do a 51% attack?
1811  Economy / Marketplace / (Charity) House of Grace, help HIV affected orphans enjoy Christmas on: December 06, 2011, 10:02:12 AM
Seasons greetings,

My wife and I volunteer at the House of Grace, an orphanage for HIV infected children or children who have become orphaned due to HIV. Each year on Christmas Eve the children go caroling and they will be stopping by at my house. I plan to give them snacks and gifts but if anyone in the community would like to contribute a few coins to the effort it would help. There will be 60 plus children and we hope to be able to give a small gift to each child. If there is some interest I will post photos online of the event.

All funds should be sent to 1LrJ1izTiX5QYxC3advW3idmcbaSt8cPfF

Their outdated website http://www.houseofgracethailand.com/

Thank you

1813  Economy / Services / (GLBSE) Rating agancy formation ideas. on: December 02, 2011, 02:40:34 PM
Hello all,

I am interested in establishing a rating agency for the stocks listed on the GLBSE stock exchange. I am interested in you ideas about what an operation should do. My first idea would be to have a check list of things that have been verified.

1. Location
2. ID of the CEO
3. Proof of possession of related assets. (stocks, commodities, mining equipment)
4. Valid encryption signatures for signed contracts.

This would also be a place to have public complaints listed about the companies listed/resolved.

Any and all ideas welcome!

Thanks

I should have said you can only have 4 slots @ 1.5 If you typed 4 there would not have been an issue. Thanks.

1 slot at 4.5BTC
1816  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 11 on: December 01, 2011, 12:18:49 AM
There are only 8 slots and I have 4 of them at 3.5BTC.

You can't have 5 at 1.5BTC
1817  Bitcoin / Mining / (SOLVED) MSI 790GX-G65 should be fine for 4x 5850s? on: November 30, 2011, 11:23:26 AM
Hi all,

I am trying to troubleshoot whats wrong with a rig. I just got a new MSI 790GX-G65 and I am trying to run it with 3x or 4x 5850s.

Windows 7 64bit will crash a few seconds after they start mining. Then blue screens of death and windows wont reboot. Fail every-time and I can not think of what is causing the trouble. This PSU ran 2x 5850s and a 6990 fine so I do not think that's the problem.

Will this motherboard be able to power the 3 cards? I have no idea what else it could be.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks.

Problem was a bad 5850:)
