1541  Economy / Auctions / Re: Liteco.in domain on: July 24, 2012, 09:31:03 AM
i'm sure this is worth at least $200 so i might as well get it over with...

$200

mainly i'd just want to keep the forum there, and as others have suggested, host other ltc-related sites using subdomains.

$300
1542  Economy / Auctions / Re: Liteco.in domain on: July 24, 2012, 05:43:06 AM
$125

I plan to use the domain to promote LiteCoins. I myself hold LTC in the 6 digit range and am adding.

I will use the site to host the now being developed LiteCoin stock exchange and a BTC/LTC exchange.

I will also be hosting a Litecoin forum and will be open to hosting other related LTC sites. I'm happy to keep the block explore running here as well.

I'm more than happy to work with members in the LTC community who have a large state and want to see it develop.

Thanks.

1543  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 6990 caught on fire... on: July 19, 2012, 07:54:22 AM
Okay so I had a 6990 that was not showing up, it happens.

Thank goodness for warranties.

1544  Other / Beginners & Help / (3 BTC bounty) What laptop should I buy? on: July 18, 2012, 07:11:44 AM
I will send you 3 BTC if I buy the laptop you find me.

I will need to use BTC or Amazon.com.

Price range is $1,000 to $2,000 USD.

It needs to be...

highly portable (light).

long battery life.

high screen def (full HD would be great)

at least 4 GB of ram.

Needs to have at least a 2 year international warranty.

SSD might be a plus, SSD with a HDD as a back up might be a plus.

I like the brand ASUS.

This computer must be able to run Ubuntu.

Must have wifi.

Must be better than what I am looking at now   http://www.amazon.com/Zenbook-Prime-UX31A-DB51-13-3-Inch-Ultrabook/dp/tech-data/B00863L2PK/ref=de_a_smtd

I don't like the one linked cuz the screen is a bit too small.

Thank you.

Okay my bid is 100,000$ time f43fdk48f  but it depends on some magic code that I wont tell you until after you tell me the number of seconds...

This has turned into a joke...

And i was really interested in this.     Sad
1546  Economy / Auctions / Re: Liteco.in domain on: July 16, 2012, 05:01:04 PM
Alright, here's the SHA256 hash:
Code:
f378d6e6174cc89543551675e2fe23cd22b71be660ad56b9ad91168b7a0ee449

The exact message used to get the above hash will be posted when the auction ends.

I've been considering adding a random number of seconds (between 1 and 120) to the end of the auction to prevent sniping. I'll post a hashed string containing the number in advance. It should prevent auction sniping, while not allowing the auction to continue indefinitely.

If most current bidders agree, I'll implement this, and allow any other bidders to withdraw from the auction. How does this sound?
Agree with this, though would prefer to see more seconds than '1' obviously..
The number of seconds doesn't matter that much. It's the psychological impact on the bidders I'm looking for.

Good luck, everyone!

you are going to change the terms but wont tell us?
1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nurturing AlternaCoins on: July 16, 2012, 11:48:42 AM

Alterna-coins are a natural outgrowth of bitcoin introducing a new idea into the ideasphere; the fact that it is open source makes cloning the idea trivial.  Alterna-coins were always inevitable.

If someone can come up with a better bitcoin than bitcoin -- that's great!  Humanity benefits from the competition.

Speaking as a developer, though, contributing patches back upstream would be nice Smiley

I've sent a few patches upstream. Well, here's one more:

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/1536

Litecoin was attacked with dust spam where the attacker would send a transaction with thousands of outputs of a satoshi each. Yet, they only get charged the base fee. This fixes it by making the fee grow linearly with number of dust spam.

Awesome. LTC clearly makes BTC strong.

Disclaimer I have healthy investments in both.

1550  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin Wallet on Windows 7 fails hard after a year of no problems. on: July 11, 2012, 07:06:01 AM
Well when I load up bitcoin wallet on windows 7 it never full loads and will freeze my whole computer (have to force reboot). I have had this for over a year and no issue. My wallet is backed up and running fine on a different computer so no worry there. I also updated to the newest version and still same issue.

It just says not responding and then has an "APP CRASH"

Any idea what I should do other than reload the OS?

Thanks.

About 3.5 hours left.

Can you let us know about the bids that were rejected?  It's tricky knowing that some of the bids are fake...
1553  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 40 on: July 05, 2012, 11:26:53 AM

1556  Economy / Securities / TyGrr Insurance Hedge your GLBSE risk. on: July 02, 2012, 12:54:36 PM
TyGrr Insurance   Hedge your GLBSE risk.

TyGrr Insurance is an operation that I have thought about for a long time but never developed.  It is hard to judge risk and keeping around a pile of coins to pay out was not what I wanted to do so I never got involved. However now I have the perfect thing to cover. GLBSE

What I will offer is GLBSE insurance. If GLBSE goes down for whatever reason, hacked and files deleted, nefario runs off, Feds take it over and shut it down I will pay out.

This should be used as a hedge for your investments on GLBSE. For example if you have 1,000 coins on GLBSE you might want to buy 1,000 BTC insurance from me.

Why would I want to insure GLBSE? It is pretty simple. I have a lot of coin from GLBSE that I will not be able to return if GLBSE shuts down. So if GLBSE does get shut down I would be in the perfect position to pay out.
If I am able to pay back my shareholders on GLBSE then I will not pay out insurance. If I am able to return the funds to my shareholders then GLBSE was not “shut down”.

Clearly the insurance cannot be listed on GLBSE. We will have to do this outside GLBSE but can list the information on the forum.

At this time I am not offering to insure specific assets but I will be interested in hearing proposals. I do hope to expand this but will start out slowly.

Thank you.

Kluge, We could help you find a really nice house near the beach here in Thailand in your price range. Thailand is over all pretty libertarian (assuming you overlook the lack of free speech about politicians). its a pretty nice place to live:)
1559  Other / Off-topic / FBI credit card data sting snares 24 worldwide on FBI-run online forum (lulz) on: June 27, 2012, 04:00:36 AM

Oh lulz. I'm not so good at English, what does entrapment mean again? Smiley
1560  Other / Beginners & Help / (Win 5 BTC) When will the first BFL BitForce SC Mini Rig be recived? on: June 23, 2012, 04:54:54 AM

(Win 5 BTC)  When will the first BFL BitForce SC Mini Rig be received?

http://news.yahoo.com/butterfly-labs-announces-next-generation-asic-lineup-054626776.html

If you edit your post you are disqualified. You can only guess once, if you guess more than once none of your guesses count.

The BFL product must be no lower than 90% of the claimed specs of "providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899". This means at least 900 GH/s and a price of no more than $32,888.90

A guess of never is valid however clearly I will not pay you until after the end of time.

Extra 1 Bitcoin bonus for the person who guesses closest to the actual power usage from the wall.

For TheJoint the timezone I will use is the forum time. Also I am God of this thread all decisions are mine and mine alone. Do not like this rule do not play.

Thank you and good luck!
