Look, the discussion of 1GH having to much hash rate and the need to move to other pools, is correct on short-term, but ends up being flawed in the big picture.

The core issue is the hassle of using a MPOS vs an anonymous, no-login pool where you use wallet address as username like 1GH. This is what should be looked into, in the long term.

I gladly moved from 1GH to dwarfpool when I was mining MAX, due to excessive hash rate. It was easy and hassle free to move from one no-login pool to another. I will not gladly do so if I have to deal with MPOS registration, login, email confirmation to unlock, set up workers and other redundant crap, because I'm FUCKING fed up of it. I've done it 30+ times at least since Aug 2013. I believe enough is enough.

Of course, that's just me ...

Yeah, that's fucking true, too many registrations in 993257 pools!

+1

yup, im avoiding using MPOS pool, they are crap

Ok, TC is not related to system memory. What else could cause the memory errors at an average TC?

edit: Thx uray for all your efforts. I tried the latest version which is now working with every TC as long as it is not too low.
However, I can configure my cards with various gpu clock, memclock, TC and they ALWAYS get a max of 750kh. It even seems like the config has no impact on the speed as it doesn't matter if I clock something 100mhz higher or lower. The .conf file is loaded right as all my pools are available.

Very odd. Tried also with sgminer and cgminer-kalroth - but same behavior.

Btw: replace last line of start.sh in the sgminer-folder with "./sgminer -c mining.conf".

oh yeah you are right, that start.sh should be :

/opt/miners/sgminer/sgminer -c /opt/miners/sgminer/mining.conf

as for TC, i never optimize it on TC because i always use gpu-threads = 2, what GPU are you using?
some bios on card will auto downclock on higher temp, what is your temperature reading?

Uray,
Thank you for the 0.3-beta1 update!
Did you change any drivers in the OS? Kernel update?

I was unable to run 0.3 on my AMD system to any usable form (even with the IOMMU enabled) but the beta1 solved everything. Booted right up!
I've been wanting to try CryptoSlax for a while; not I can.

adrian

no, no change in drivers and linux kernel
1825  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CryptoSlax Linux Mining Distro on: March 13, 2014, 10:29:43 AM
uray,
Thanks for recent update, autostart feature works great.
I got two questions:
1. How may i run vertminer (GPU) when connected via SSH ? Direct run just don't detects any GPU.
2. I saw that vertminer link points to /opt/miners/vertminer/start-session.sh, but it works only if run it inside X session not ssh, why so ?

Also it is good to add some gpumon/viewgpu stat as BAMT has, so it will be easy to parse miners state via terminal.

somehow you need to run vertminer on terminal that is started inside X session, otherwhise it wont detect GPU or no GPU temperature info available, on 3.1.1 beta there are terminal session that auto executed inside X session, you can attach to this terminal and start your miner, try "screen -x xterminal" or something
1826  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CryptoSlax Linux Mining Distro on: March 12, 2014, 10:19:18 PM
Hi,

I tried to run Cryptoslax on my own today but have some trouble with segementation faults.

First, until now I run BAMT which is 32Bit and therefore only 2GB of my 8GB were available.

With Cryptoslax I hoped to be able to increase thread concurrency  from 24550 to 32765 which should be best for R9 290.

However, even with TC=24550 I get errors from cgminer-opencl and also with the self-compiled sgminer 4.0.0:
Code:
[11:55:13] Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0
[11:55:13] Restarting the GPU from the menu will not fix this.
[11:55:13] Try restarting sgminer.
[11:55:13] Maximum buffer memory device 1 supports says 1073741824
[11:55:13] Your scrypt settings come to 1608908800
[11:55:13] Error -61: clCreateBuffer (padbuffer8), decrease TC or increase LG

This is my config:
Code:
"intensity" : "21,21,21",
"worksize" : "256,256,256",
"thread-concurrency" : "24550,24550,24550",
"gpu-engine" : "1075,1075,1020",
"gpu-memclock" : "1470,1375,1465",
"gpu-powertune" : "20,20,20",
"gpu-threads" : "1,1,1",
"lookup-gap" : "2,2,2",

Any ideas?

TC is "GPU thread concurrency" i doubt it has anything to do with your system memory, TC mostly are number of GPU execution thread to be spawn to run on your GPU and use your GPU memory

Cryptoslax64 0.3.1-beta1 is available to download from http://www.cryptoslax.web.id

new :
 * sgminer (untested)
 * heavycoin cpu miner (for 1gh.com : tested)
 * cgminermonitor.com client
    as .sb module, simply download, place it into [FLASHDRIVE:]/slax/modules
    or on running slax, download with wget, and execute "slax activate /path/to/file.sb"
 * fix some gnu screen issues
 * better autostart system, simply chmod +x autostart-session.sh inside miner directory, to make it autorun after boot
 * added apache+php+mysql for local web serving, for futher development of rig monitoring and control
 * added google chrome browser

this is beta version, you know what it means, even on non-beta version i can't guarantee everything will work

1828  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CryptoSlax Linux Mining Distro on: February 26, 2014, 10:26:16 PM
there is patch for broken AMD http://www.cryptoslax.web.id, copy that .sb to your [FLASHDRIVE]/slax/modules
this will fix amd driver initialization on boot, which caused segfault on cgminer and any gpu miner

Did the patch get moved?  Don't see it on the website.

Haven't gotten to actually test cryptoslax on PXE yet, got everything setup but couldn't get the pxe files from slax easily (without unplugging the USB stick) so I stopped for the day, and I haven't had a chance to give it a shot again yet.

yeah its already included on 0.3 final

is there any linux miner source code yet?
1830  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CryptoSlax Linux Mining Distro on: February 25, 2014, 09:11:28 AM
Thanks man, excited about the new version.  Is this going to have cgminer 3.7.2 for scrypt instead of the 3.7.3 (which is broken)?

Now I just have to get PXEBoot working for slax (2/3rds of the way there, hehe)

Also, is 1UrayjqRjSJjuouhJnkczy5AuMqJGRK4b your BTC address?

yup its my address, did u tested PXEBoot on slax? is it working? i am not tested it yet, i will be soon

yup i am going back to 3.7.2 for scrypt, and use 3.7.3 for keccak,
note : u need to download 0.3-beta3 patch to proper init amd gpu, this patch will be included on 0.3-beta3

Ongoing edit saga of getting this going, hehe.  So, what I've found now is that if I start the miner from the actual computer, ie mouse and keyboard, I get the GPU temps reported correctly, but if I ssh in and start cgminer, then I can't get temps.  It's weird because anubis will even get temp data when I start it locally, but gets 0's if I start remotely.

u need ssh session that start from xorg session because it need AMD ADL to access your GPU data, see my post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=389667.msg5235096#msg5235096

Even when starting from the console, I only get GPU temps for the for first GPU (0), none of the others.

try :

aticonfig --adapter=all --initial -f
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/

then reboot

Looks great, I can't get internet on my MSI G45 gaming motherboard though no matter what I try...

does your ethernet device detected? can you provide me the result of #lspci ?
1839  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: SLAX CryptoMiner Distro on: February 19, 2014, 12:07:41 PM
I am a linux newb. I am having trouble making this into a working boot disk any chance at some detailed instructions?

Thanks
Steve

where u got stuck?

its simple, format your flashdisk into FAT32 partition, extract .7z contents into your flashdisk, then run [FlashDisk:]/boot/bootinst.bat as administrator, then boot using your flashdisk ( u might need to change boot order settings in your BIOS)
1840  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: SLAX CryptoMiner Distro on: February 19, 2014, 11:56:07 AM
Hmmm, okay, so the two bugs I've gotten so far are;

1) I can't SSH in and start a rig - it won't report temp data if you do that.

2) 2 of the 7 rigs don't boot at all, and just hang at "looking for slax data in /slax...."

Great work so far!

1) if u want to get temp data, you need AMD ADL running in your ssh session, that is when ssh session started inside xorg, the easiest one is just remote using vnc client, then start console, and create screen session (screen -S mysession), then you ssh into your machine and run screen -r mysession, that screen session will have ADL enabled

2) is it AMD based motherboard chipset, if that so u need to enable AMD IOMMU in your bios, then clean your slax usb then try boot again
