1301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: September 30, 2014, 10:52:28 PM
This may be a dumb question but I'm asking just for the sake of interest.

Would it somehow be possible to trick/hack/fake out the PoCminer so it takes the scoop from the same location every time?

Like, let's say you have a 4tb drive, and you create a script that rewrites enough of that 4tb that when PoCminer takes a new scoop from it, it thinks that 4tb is 1/4096th of a 16.38pb (4096 x 4tb) plot that doesn't really exist beyond the 4tb from which the scoop keeps being taken?

What exactly is the reason this can't happen, plot sizes can't be spoofed, etc.?

Thanks in advance for helping me understand the technical minutiae.

i dont really understand your question, but mining is just you pick a number, any number, just send it to your wallet or pool, i will give you an example how to mining burst by hand

click this : http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io/burst?requestType=submitNonce&accountId=8344153632840493834&nonce=12345678

8344153632840493834 is my account id of BURST-WCSC-JNCD-ZB53-955M9 it was reward assigned to burst-pool.cryptoport.io
12345678 is nonce number you picked, its just any number...

once you submitted that, you got share, as simple as that, try change the nonce number you will get another deadline, then keep searching another nonce till you get deadline below 240, so you actually dont need any harddrive or cpu or plot or anything

That's fascinating. So in theory, you could create a pool that picked random nonce numbers as fast as possible, hashed them with your account ID and spam-submitted them to the network?

all nonces are legitimate nonce, there are no invalid nonce, and actually you can create a miner, this miner will picked random nonce number as fast as possible send those all nonces to my pool, then my pool will be dead.

How does your pool bypass vetting legitimate nonces that were tested in a scoop?

uh... mm... do you have any idea?

I have no idea. I'm trying to learn why the system isn't vulnerable to a potential fake nonce-spam-attack of this nature. I wouldn't want to bring down a pool--yours or anyone else's-- but I would want to call attention to a vulnerability so the dev and capable members of the community could address it.

the system is vulnerable to spam attack, and we ban miners IP who did spamming nonce

guys my US pool (http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io/) will have planned down time for about 3-5 block time (10-15 minutes)
i will shut it down at block 17950, and it should be back aroung block 17955

you turned off too early, we are only at block 17946 now  Undecided

i know, but that the best time because all payment is paid out
now is run again, but its public IP is changed to 54.183.92.44
dns still same http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io or http://pool.burstcoin.io but it might be need some time to propagate
if you connect to wrong IP, you might want to clear your DNS cache, and some of you might need to restart your miner

Can no longer 'receive mining info from wallet'

can you open http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io using your browser?
try to restart your miner or flush your dns cache (maybe you can ask Mr.google how to do that)

I can indeed open the pool site page and I have already flushed my dns cache, who needs google for that Cool

uh... ok. so you can mining? its all amazon faults, they changed my public IP ! ( I need something to blame)
but all my miners is working here, so does with others, there are about 950 nonces submitted in current round, before i shutdown it was about 1200, so about 90% miners are back mining...

what about ping the hostname, which IP you got from ur miner PC

Umm, those two graphs are the same :s

you got the idea that the planned graph for EU pool is actually the red line, right?  Cool

Yeah thanks for that, how could I not realise -.-

Maybe I should make myself clearer for the sarcastic folk.

The curve on the US pool graph is the same as the curve on the SG pool graph.

(That's the black line in the top graph and the black line in the middle graph Pilotseye Cool )

hmm... how is its same? US and SG right? can you please see it again?

different pools use different "standards"...  Cry

...
why my pool can't use GET ?
check this : http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io/burst?requestType=getMiningInfo
or  http://burst-pool2.cryptoport.io/burst?requestType=getMiningInfo

and also you can solo mining too using my pool if you provide passphrase but don't include accountId, its stupid anyway since you send your passphrase over plaintext to my server

it's method "GET" (HTTP Methods GET & POST)

sorry, did not know about solo mining by pool  Grin

yes, that URL when you click or put to browser is defaulted to use GET
http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io/burst?requestType=getMiningInfo

will be GET /burst?requestType=getMiningInfo HTTP/1.1
so if your miner want to use GET request it should work for port 80 , as long as you put /burst? prefix on url

Ok, corrected.
Your pool is the most advanced in functionality...

I love that, so one more red is share/s field right?
what is that actually?

you should do assignment again, only the last assignment is in effect

now US and SG pool has different share value curve, you can compare it on "How It Works" tab, you can choose which one is more preferable to your mining capacity.

FYI geographical location for mining does not have any effect on burst, unlike usual PoW mining when we are submitting more nonce as possible (quantity), on burst we look for nonce "Quality" so if you are on US or EU and using SG pool does not have any effect on  your earning

cryptoport has two pools (US & SG), US pool curve is less "steep" than SG pool, curve which has less steep is preferable for "small" capacity miner as it will reward you better, as pool with high steep will reward high capacity better because nonce with small deadline has exponentially better share value

I am planning to make one more pool in EU, it will has linear curve, but with deadline limit, so miner will have 3 options soon

US : for miner who prefer steady earning and want their low deadline rewarded better

SG : for miner who love surprise earning just like on solo mining

EU : for conventional miner who love steady & fairness above anything

planned EU curve, graph above show deadline limit at 6120 seconds, it just for example, the actual will use higher deadline about 75000 seconds or so

Uray Looks like your pool in down ...
Minner:
Code:
Submission Max Delay : 30
Submission Max Retry : 5
Buffer Size : 4096MB
Pool Host : burst-pool2.cryptoport.io port 80
resolving hostname burst-pool2.cryptoport.io
Remote IP 54.169.43.72
unable to connect to remote host
unable to connect to remote host
unable to connect to remote host
unable to connect to remote host
unable to connect to remote host

site also in down

looks the pool fixed now, thanks

sorry i need to stop it a moment, because there are some residual payment got stuck, and it take longer than I expected (about 2 block time), and i made slight adjustment to pool settings

You people still trying to mine this crapcoin?  LOL.  I have had the most stress-free week ever.  No fighting with mining PCs, no constantly checking this forum topic, no coming home from work to see NO new coins in my account, etc.

My 10900-whatever coins are waiting in C-CEX for a price pop to be sold off, although I maintain that this crapcoin will never get over 500 satoshis again.  It is only the deluded idiots here that are keeping the price as high as it is.

My 10900 coins are for sale at 800 satoshis EACH.

as you said burst is crap coin, why dont you sell it for 1 satoshi each ? well its crap coin right? it has no value!

Cryptoport Pool Update

I am developing a system that allows you to sell share of your mining capacity on my pool, to do this :

  • your account should be mining at burst-pool.cryptoport.io or burst-pool2.cryptoport.io
  • issue an asset in asset exchange using that account, and set your asset description with exactly "cryptoport capacity lease asset" (without quote) , you can name your asset anything you want, how many as you want, and set the price anything you like on asset exchange
  • pool will check if a miner has an asset issued with description as above, if it is then their mining payout will be distributed proportionally to that asset holder

this feature will allows people to mine burst without doing technical job, like plotting, maintaining disk, install wallet & miner etc and less risk for them, all their need is to buy some mining share anytime they want from anyone providing this asset, and if they think they want to stop mining just re-sell that asset anytime they want

issuer can also improve this mechanism that allows for renting and leasing mining capacity, by playing with "buy-back" buy order, if their renting time is out

this feature will be available soon, I announce it to promote BCPT [ Asset ID 12791182347560578640 ] and as an assurance to BCPT holder that I keep developing and make better service & feature for the pool to make pool more profitable

I will make another announcement when this feature is ready

please post any question or suggestion to my own pool thread here :

Scanning this thread all i see is miners talking to each other. Theres no discussion about selling, price, or
PR for the coin etc. Am I missing something with this coin?

You're right!
We're all miners, we just want to became bagholder asap, then we will start to make pr and looking for dummies investors who will buy our mined coins instead mine for free with theyr hdd.
We're mining the best we can before difficulty rise too much.
Then we start to make promotions.

But first, we need to collect millions each.

nice plan bro!
