1842  Bitcoin / Mining support / (solved) 10% hash loss after reinstall on: November 18, 2011, 12:04:56 PM
Hello,

My wife accidentally unplugged one of my machines while cleaning. On restart I kept getting the blue screen of death after windows loaded.

So I reinstalled everything including windows 7 64 bit.

I installed the ATI 11.6 driver.

The current GUI miner

and SDK 2.1

Now everything is running fine other than my hash rate is down 10%

Anyone have any ideas about this? I tried reinstalling the drivers, and updating windows. Nothing seems to work. I have no idea how this could have even happened. The computer is running exactly what it was before this reload.

Thanks for all of you ideas!

edit: it was a problem with my miner, downloaded it again and it was fine...

1844  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Free power but need low sound and low heat. on: November 16, 2011, 04:34:09 PM
Assuming I had free power for a few months but must keep my rig in a semi restricted area and keep it semi quite what would you recommend doing? The best I could think of was getting a full tower HAF-932 and trying to get 6 5830s going. Semi warm area as airflow via fan can not be provided.

My boss is interested in bitcoin and is 100% willing to donate a few months of power assuming it is not disruptive due to sound. It also has to work in an enclosed space so it can not get to hot. This also will not be running 24/7 so I have to keep hardware costs in mind. I am open to ideas. Thanks.
1845  Economy / Marketplace / Fair selling price? on: November 16, 2011, 03:47:10 PM
We have all wondered about what is a fair price to sell something in bitcoin. Recently I have used to formula 1x current, 3x daily weighted average by volume and 1x 7 day weighted average by volume.

Does this seem like the most fair way to find the current value of exchange? Can this be improved upon? If so why?

Thank you!

1847  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS]16GB HP Touchpad - $110 Shipped on: November 14, 2011, 12:09:08 AM
Ok, my main point is I am trying to get someone to sell a Touchpad using escrow. They all seem to be scammers who will not send first or use escrow.

If you will send first or use escrow I will buy it.

1849  Economy / Marketplace / (ANN) I will form a mining company to be traded on (GLBSE) if there is interest! on: October 24, 2011, 08:03:31 AM
Hello everyone, In the next few weeks I would like to list a mining company on GLBSE and would like all of your ideas and input.

First, about myself, I dual majored in Computer Engineering and International Business Administration. I am an American who has lived and worked in Thailand for the last 7 years. I currently have a mining operation going and it has been running for 3 months. I love bitcoin and I love business so doing this is very exciting for me however, I want to do it right so I want all of your input.

Since I own all of the hardware that is currently mining what I would do is create shares roughly based on the number of Mhash/S (approximately 9000). I will then sell the shares based on the cost of the hardware per Mhash/S. (Total Cost/Mhash/S). I am only looking to sell about 30% and will use this money to expand or to invest in bitcoin.

I will then send out weekly the profit to share holders. (Total bitcoins earned/9000 times your number of shares owned)

Because the company has hard assists there will always be a floor to the value that the stock can fall in terms of the dollar. Since you are buying a percent of real goods the value will never go below the value of the real goods. Due to this, I will always be willing to personally buy back stock at 90% the value of the hardware, I might be willing to do it for more than 90% too. This will limit your risk in terms of Dollars. For example, If you buy 1 share at 1BTC and then BTC goes down in terms of US dollars 75% overnight I will give you at least 3.6 bitcoins for the share that you bought from me at 1BTC. I will always buy back at this rate so this will significantly reduce your risk in terms of dollars.

If bitcoin does really well then you will be able to collect the weekly dividends while still holding onto the value of the hard assets. This is a very good hedge for people who will be holding bitcoin, If you are just going to hold bitcoin anyway, why not get a return or protection from the value going down?

This is the list of the assets on hand

I have large CM HAF-912 cases with lots of fans for the computers as well.

I have APC brand UPSs to protect from lightning/surge.

If for whatever reason bitcoin brakes I will sell the hardware and buyback your shares.

Also I am working on a way to be able to keep two 6990's that I have on hand.

If there is serious interest in this I will identify myself and prove to you that I have what I have and will do what I say. Please, all comments welcome!

1856  Economy / Goods / THAILAND: Retin-A, real Red Bull, (other) on: October 22, 2011, 12:44:59 PM
Sawatdee from Thailand!

I am sending these goods back home with a family member soon due to their high cost in the USA but their low cost here. I am told for example that Retin-A (Tretinoin ) is close to 150$ a bottle in the USA and is not covered by insurance. So, if my family members want them, you might too. I will ship them from Thailand and will only accept bitcoin as payment. PM if you are interested. Also you can ask about any other goods you know that are found in Thailand. Kapkun!

Retin-A cream (either .05% or .025%)  (either 10g tube or 20g tube)

Silk Ties

Real Redbull, not legal to sell in the USA due to whatever they add to it here to make it have its reputation.

Saffron has been popular in the past.

Anything else, maybe Tea?

I am seeing if there would be any interest in people ordering Tea grown from the Chaing Rai highlands in Mae Salong. This used to be part of the golden triangle where they grew opium. The govt has helped them change to growing coffee and tea. They have many many different types of both coffee and tea. The products are packaged in air tight packages and can be shipped from Thailand. I'm not sure on the shipping costs but I don't think it would be all that much. If there is some interest I can start getting some stuff working and try out some samples. Also I would only take bitcoins as payment:)

Edit, I am going to list what I currently have in stock, this will change often.  I will price them in bitcoin and in US dollars. If there is a giant swing in either currency I will adjust them as soon as I can. Also I will only accept bitcoin as payment!

1858  Economy / Lending / (GLBSE?) or (LOAN wanted) Want to keep 800 Mhash/S mining at 1.375 $/Mhash on: October 22, 2011, 11:47:25 AM
Hello everyone.

TL:DR     Need $1100 so I don't have to sell two almost new 6990s.

I have a very small mining farm already set up. However after learning about being able to use the 1x PCI slots to mine I have found out that it would be better for me cost wise to use these slots with more cheaper cards rather than the dual 6990s using just 16x pci slots (higher Mhash/S per $). What I have done is borrow $1100 and used that to buy 7x 5830, 1x 5770, 1x 5850, and 1x 5950. Now to pay this $1100 back I need to sell my two almost new 6990s. These cards have a 3 year warranty and it would be a shame to sell them on ebay. Also I have more than two slots ready (I have an empty extra rigs) for the 6990s so I would basically have to give up 800 Mhs/S at 1.375$ per Mhs/S. I do not want to do this however unless I find funding I will have to give them up.

I am open to all ideas you might have to let me keep one ($550) or both ($1100) of the cards. Ideas I have thought of is to sell shares of the mining farm on GLBSE and pay out a percentage of my bitcoins that come in. I am also open to operating these cards for someone for a fee. You would have to buy the cards from me and then I would direct the Mhash to where ever you want it to go. I would even give you control over the rig if you wanted. I am also open to loan ideas. I am open to anything that will let me keep the cards mining and help me make some money.

This might appeal to people who are willing to invest but do not have the technical expertise or the time to run their own rigs. Also this might appeal to people who have a higher electrical cost of .1375$ after tax. I am also willing to pay a percent on money loaned or dividends on coins if people want a return on cash. I am willing to sell a percent of the mining farm as well, the value is already here in the cards and rigs.

I know there is a high rate of trolls and scammers on this site. I am new to the forum but I am not new to bitcoin. If you think I am a scammer or a troll please do not post in my thread this is only for people who are interested in this. If you are not interested I understand, I do not expect anything to work out with this however it was worth my time to write this out and give it a shot. If anyone is interested I will post photos of everything I have, my 1000 100% positive rating on Ebay, Video of the rigs working, access to my mining pool accounts so you can see how long I have mined. Anything you need.

I will be doing merged mining, I have high powered fan cooling (not AC!), I underclock the memmory to 300mhz, and over clock the core. I am looking into under volting as well. I will mine the CPU alt coins when it is worth doing so.

This is what my farm has currently plus the two 6990s...

I have extender cables for the 1xpci and 6 for the 16 pci

I have 8 large cases with lots of fans for the computers as well

I will be sending the 6990s with my family to the USA soon to cover my debt so if we are to work something out it will have to be quick. I am open to all ideas that you have. Thank you for your time.

Hi all, This is going to be one mess of a post as it will reflect what is going on in my head. What I am trying to do is get this worked out so I can have the lowest energy usage. I know some of the parts that I have are not the best but, this is what I have on hand.

GPU
2x 5770     (240w)   (360mhs)
7x 5830     (980w)   (2310mhs)
16x 5850      (2500w)  (5760mhs)
1x 5970     (300w)    (800mhs)

PSU
1x 650w
4x 700w
1x 800w
2x 850w

all bronze 80+ coolmaster

CPU
1x 555
5x 955
2x i3 2120

Motherboard

2x msi p67a-gd80   (3x 16pci 2x 1pci)
4x msi 870a-g46   (2x 16pci 1x 1pci)
1x asus m4a79xtd evo  (2x 16pci 2x 1pci)
1x giabyte ga880ga-ud3h  (2x 16pci 2x 1pci)

i have extender cables for the 1xpci and 6 for the 16 pci

Now, since the price has collapsed and the difficulty does not look like its going down (much) I need to get a better idea on what I have here and see if it is wroth putting all together.  i am okay to wait a year or so if i am at the break even level now.

My electrical cost after tax is 13.7 cents.

Using the data at this site http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=706&Itemid=72&limit=1&limitstart=16 It seems my total wat usage will be around 4000w just for the cards. This is a guess as I will be overclocking the cards core to whatever I can and underclocking the memory to 300mhz.

my total output will be around 9200 mhs/S assuming i get 180 for the 5770, 330 for the 5830, 360 for the 5850 and 800 for the 5970.

I know that I have electrical costs with the mainboards and the cpus and what not. how significant will this be?

If I assume the next difficulty will be 1,300,000 and the price will be $2.5 and I get 9200 mhs/S I will bring in $540 a month. My costs for electric for just the cards will be $548 If I did all of this right.

I am thinking that there will be no way I can mine and break even at this point. I am however hopeful that it will go up in the future.

I assume that I will be able to have the 2x msi p67a-gd80 motherboards have 5 cards each?  (1x 5850 3x 5830 and 1x 5770) and for the second (1x 5850 and 4x5830)

The 1x asus m4a79xtd evo  (2x 16pci 2x 1pci) and 1x giabyte ga880ga-ud3h  (2x 16pci 2x 1pci)  can do 4 each?

And then only use 2 of the 4x msi 870a-g46   (2x 16pci 1x 1pci) with 3 each.

I will have one card left over and two rigs but its the best way to do it right?   What will my added electric costs be if I do it this way?

I also have 8 7200 rpm Samsung f3 1TB HDDs and some big house fans to keep things cool.

Also I know I will have to run Linux on some of these machines, Linuxcoin can be run from a HDD as well or only a USB? Thanks.

I do not live in the USA or a part of the world that has Ebay. Getting all this stuff here took a lot of money, a years wage for me. I am not just going to sell everything back at a loss of 40% with out doing some math.

Sorry for all the questions and thoughts but this is where my head is right now. If anyone can follow any of this all ideas and questions are welcomed. Also my numbers might just be way off cuz I dont really know what I'm doing so please point that out too, haha! Thanks:)
