1901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS is not satisfied with bitcoin, they made their own currency on: December 11, 2015, 12:35:22 AM
The thing is, would somebody buy their coins?
Because many people don't trust them(because they are evil), then who want to store their coins?

Unfortunately there are enough fans of IS, i can ensure you even in your near surroundings.

I think it might lead to draw away suspicion from bitcoin. Though cryptocurrencies as a whole might become attackable.

I would like to differ from you in saying that something linked to Crypto currencies, would actually draw attention to Bitcoin, because it would fall in the same category. There are already voices in many countries supporting the banning of all encrypted technologies.

The positive thing about this, is that these Alt coins would not be backed by a large network and Anonymous could target them, and take them down, wherever they would be trading.  Roll Eyes

Yes, that risk exists. Well, let's see how the future turns out to be. I would want to know beforehand when bitcoin is in danger to be forbidden in important countries. I don't want to ride the price to the bottom.
1902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: December 11, 2015, 12:32:33 AM
What i can tell you is: Dont day-trade unless you are an expert. Otherwise experts will make more Bitcoins because you will lose them

Yes. And when you still want to try then start with a very small amount of bitcoins. Let's say $20. You will lose it for sure but at least your learning lesson will not be as expensive than losing $1000 from the start.

And you will need alot to learn.
1903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: December 10, 2015, 11:49:36 PM
do not put all eggs in the same basket.

if all "basket" are bad and you are limited and have only one option, it's better to put everything there or put a % of what you have there

there is no reason to diversificate too much, it's very hard to follow multiple investment, and there is the risk to lose more

Yes, it can be a costly error to spread risk only for the purpose of spreading risk. You need to be convinced that these are safe investments. Otherwise it is asking for getting scammed. Unfortunately i tried to spread risk too and what should i say... even though i would have sworn on at least one project everyone of them turned out to be bad apples. Diversification does not help much only for that reason.

At the end if you have slight doubts then DON'T invest at all. It is way better to have 100% coins than the promise to have 200% coins in a years timeframe. Because when you invest you have 0% instantly and the big question is if you will get your 100% bitcoins back at all.
1904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the bitcoin blockchain analysis companies a thread to the bitcoins privacy? on: December 10, 2015, 11:39:04 PM
no.

say i advertised to the world that i own 1Fr4nky0n3BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah and i moved funds to address A,B,C,D, by just looking at the blockchain itself

no one knows if i bought a coffee at starbucks using address B or a stick of desktop ram.

They might know when starbucks is using a wallet like exchanges are using. Exchanges wallets adresses can be identified relatively easy. Then when someone knows that the address belongs to starbucks then they know you bought there.

the topic is blockchain explorer analysis

so lets say i withdrew from an exchange. and bought starbucks coffee (via bitpay)..

the BLOCKCHAIN would only show a transaction from an exchange, to bitpay ......... that is it.. the blockchain does not store names, postal info or anything else
it would not tell them who i am, how many sugars i asked for in my coffee..

to learn who i am...would require:
a warrant to request data from the exchange.

to learn what the transaction was for...would require:
a warrant to request which merchant used bitpay.
and then a warrant for starbucks to find out what product was ordered

again the blockchain would not reveal this information.
and as i said in a previous post..

instead of 1C0inB45eblahblahblahblah -> 1BitP4yblahblahblahblahblahblahblahbla

if you do 1C0inB45eblahblahblahblah -> 1sdfsldfksspBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah -> 1klgkjhlfgklfBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah -> 1pfgkfgdfgkBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah -> 1BitP4yblahblahblahblahblahblahblahbla

there is no way of knowing if the funds from green to red, were me buying a pepsi from a friend. and then that friend buying a sandwich from blue.. and it was blue who bought the starbucks coffee..

blockchain is useless at identifying people on its own.. it requires government databases, warrents and private companies handing out info to achieve only a potential trail of bread crumbs.. which can be blown away just by moving funds.

now then, even if there was 2 transactions that looked like:
1Fr4nky0n3BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah -> 1sdfsldfksspBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah
1Fr4nky0n3BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah <- 1sdfsldfksspBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah

does that mean that 1sdfsldfksspBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah is mine?
nope, that could be a retailer that i then cancelled the order with
that could be an escrow that got cancelled
that could be millions of different possibilities.. the blockchain would not tell you what the 1sdfsldfksspBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah transactions were all about.

ok the short version
here is a random address i plucked from blockchain.info: 1CR5WHEyXMmu4W4JASAJD5vcmkquiniD53
tell me:
the owners full name
the owners home postal address
the owners employment
tell me what products the owner made/received.

do this only via blockchain analysis. goodluck

Of course when there is a payment service like bitpay involved then it is no risk. It would be completely different when the company would have his own wallet. Because it would mean it would relatively easy to find out nearly all of the addresses that belong to this companies wallet. Then it would be highly likely that the transaction coming from you is known to be going to starbucks.

Blockchain analysis and the anonymity problem is not working that way. What you need is one publicly known address of a person. Then all depends on how connected this address is. Did that address send funds to camsites, to investments, to hyip's? If these websites have their own wallet then it would be likely that the address you paid to will be identified as belonging to these services.

Next thing is... were funds send from that address AND from another address at the same time in one transaction? Then it is sure that this address belongs to your wallet too. Change addresses can easily make this effect. They are a tool to connect your wallet addresses and reveal them, letting you lose anonymity.

Of course only to the level where the first address is known to belong to you. Or to your username.

1906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: December 10, 2015, 11:24:40 PM
definitely no gambling, too easy to lose.  Perhaps more conservative routes like faucets, simply purchasing, holding, or investing.

holding is definitely not growing your bitcoins.

Anyway, try saving wallets like haobtc or Magnr. Theres a new one coming up which I cant remember the name off my head, it was featured in some crypto news site
sorry sir, i think holding is also growing your bitcoin, we can say it longterm investment, im holding my bitcoin to paper wallet, and i sure it will growing in future

How can it be growing? You will still have the same amount of bitcoins after all that time. Only the fiat value of these bitcoins can be higher maybe. But the question was about growing bitcoins which means, in my opinion, to have more bitcoins than before at the end.
1907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: December 10, 2015, 10:26:53 PM

Like people here, they are rent their signature for bitcoin and don't forget you also can rent your avatar and twitter for bitcoin. For me i join signature campaign then i try gambling some for easy bitcoins, but its to risky so play smart.

Gambling is not a way to grow your bitcoins , its a way t entertain yourself , it is legal till you are using it for fun and becomes illegal if you are involved in high money making.US bans much sites which takes huge amounts to bet.
Example: williamhills are now banned in US.

Well for me gambling also grow my bitcoin if win lol, it's a big risk but i only gambling for fun and not all in like that. only small bet if win it's like for bonus and that.
growing bitcoin also can with trading, and signature campaign.

Gambling is a way to grow my bitcoins as well. It's risky but bitcoin is like a hobby to me and gambling is more entertainment for me than anything else. Winning a gamble is just a bonus to me.

Sounds like the typical mindset of a gambler. To think that you can use gambling to earn money is an error in thinking. I mean you would have to think that casino owners are stupid if that was true. But they earn a lot of money constantly. For a reason.

Guess there is no cure for that mindset.
1908  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: December 10, 2015, 09:11:04 PM
I now tried to repair the problem. I have 4 older backups of electrum version including their portable directory. I found that all versions have some labels missing. Though newer versions have labels missing that exist in older versions still. So labels are lost still.

Since that did not happen with wallets that don't have so many transactions i think it must have to do with the amount of transactions in that wallet. You sure there is no database limit of some kind?

I can give you the code for the labelsync if that helps. It looks to me like labels are gone missing over time.

The oldest version was 2.1. and because many labels still exist there i tried to force download the newest labels so that i then can force upload the newest together with the old labels that are missing in the newest version. But when i downloaded i got an error window, after it worked on it for some seconds, but the window had no message.

Any idea on that?
1909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LAUNCHED] Staisybit - Universal Online Staking Wallet on: December 10, 2015, 08:56:21 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong but staking at Staisybit means that the keys are in Staisybit possesion for the time, right?

The answer is "yes and no", at the meantime.

Explanation:
Having the need of merge users "power" (i.e. coins) we move everything on a single wallet. Hence, we don't actually hold users' private keys, they just need to send coins here. But, at the meantime, we hold private keys of all the addresses that keep users' coins; therefore, in a certain sense, we hold their private keys.

That said, we'll surely provide an Hybrid Web Wallet (i.e. a web wallet which doesn't hold customers private keys) in the future, for those users who care about more security; it's already in our roadmap. It's obvious that those users will have to renounce to the benefits of staking in pool, still having the benefit of a web wallet though.

Cheers (and thank you for the good question).

Who has access to these keys? I mean in a team where everyone would have access to the funds it could mean that only one weak chain link is needed to compromise all funds deposited. Maybe it was already answered though i don't remember it.
1910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LAUNCHED] Staisybit - Universal Online Staking Wallet on: December 10, 2015, 08:36:50 PM
Thank you for the detailed calculations. It makes sense. It tries to be fair to all users although it will always be a bit "unfair" if there are very large whales of a given currency.

However, currencies where that exist are probably not a good one

It'd be unfair without the adjustment. But, as i told above, the time will matter always less, day after day, for "whales". I can say you that the firsts 183 days, the weight of the time is already dropped to its 50% .. after 183 days it will decrease more slowly to prevent complains from the "whales". In 365 days the time will matter only its 20% (hence, 365 days will be counted as 73 days).

Some example:

- Whale: funds = 1000 , time = 183 days (counted as 91)
- Fish: funds = 10, time = 183 days

Fish/Whale funds ratio: 0.01 (fish holds 1 coin every 100 of the whale)

Weight after 183 days:   Whale = 91000  ; Fish = 1830

Fish/Whale weight ratio:  0.02 approx

It's the double, and it even grows ...

I'm not so much in staking but wouldn't that mean that whales could feel they are treated unfair and would leave staisybit to stake on their own to get the full reward?
1911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin address you have right now? why you have more than one? on: December 10, 2015, 08:16:26 PM
Ignore bitcoin addresses. Let the wallet worry about them. Think of a bitcoin address as an invoice number. Don't think of it as something like a phone number.
In my opinion:
Wallets just make things more complicated, it just adds more complexity and dependence.

You suggest I keep all my bitcoins "randomly" distributed between thousands of addresses?! No, thanks!

I'd just keep them all in 1 address and "spend<->receive" forever. It is just much simpler.

End of opinion.

Nobody says you should let the wallet do it randomly. I would say disable change addresses first, they are a tool to connect all your bitcoin addresses in your wallet and so a tool for losing anonymity. Then everytime you send funds, decide on your own from which addresses the coins should be taken from. Then you can decide if addresses can or should not be connected.

At the end you don't have a business and a private bank account. Not one account where you let all transactions go through. It simply becomes cluttered and you will have a hard time to find out what happened in the past.
1912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin address you have right now? why you have more than one? on: December 10, 2015, 08:12:51 PM
I have for now 2 bitcoin address the one is just my personal and the other is just to learn about bitcoin.
I am just trying to get more infomartion about it.

Here is some useful basic information:

Ignore bitcoin addresses. Let the wallet worry about them. Think of a bitcoin address as an invoice number. Don't think of it as something like a phone number.

You can do this, but only if you don't care about anonymity at all. Because handling addresses that way, maybe even with using change addresses, will lead to all of your transactions connectable. Try walletexplorer.com and see what you find about your addresses. In case you use your wallet the way you suggested.

Check the public addresses that are known to be connected to your userame and see what informations you find about your wallet and the financial connections you have.
1913  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: December 10, 2015, 07:25:50 PM
Did someone try this? http://www.getonebit.com/ It looks like you can use bitcoin direcly, like you would use a credit card, to pay in every store that accepts credit cards. It sounds great though reality will proof if it's great.

Thanks for the link I have not seen or tryed this yet but only because I have not seen the idea until now, I will be giving it a try in the very near future. If this works out then that will be another step for Bitcoin and a big one at that.

Then keep me updated. I'm interested to know how your test turns out. It really looks great from the outside. If this works i would probably pay very often that way.
1914  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: labcoin lawsuit on: December 10, 2015, 07:16:40 PM
No one cares anymore...

That is not fully correct. But most gave up it seems. Some are still reading.

I now started taking it in my own hands a bit since i felt like the other lcsh-members either vanished or had no time or wanted to wait on a status we know already will not yield results. So far i try to get in contact with the relevant persons that can push things forward and i'm pretty angry that it came to this. I really can't understand it.

It's not very easy... me trying to speak and understand spoken english is no fun. Cheesy Cheesy But i will try to get it moving on a bit. I hope i can since iam not the one who has the contract with the lawyer... and so on. *sigh*

Thank you very much for your efforts! Good to know that there is someone left who cares about what happened.
Most people forget with raising time, i am not one of those. I am like an elephant who never forgets things like these.
Do you know why virtualspade vanished? It seems he put a lot of time in this and know he cast away without any feedback?

I try to follow every project where i was scammed too. Unfortunately the earlier one was on here the higher the chances that you collected alot of such projects. Roll Eyes

Virtualspade... yes he was very active at the start and he paid the lawyer, at least the first part. I tipped most of the funds for that. That's another reason why i'm angry. It seems he is overworked and has problems but he did not want to delegate work to other lcsh-members then. Don't understand him. I don't want to make him look too bad since, like i said, i don't understand him. Maybe there are valid reasons i don't see.

I tried to get in touch with the lawyer but till now without success. Seems i need to bite the sour apple again and call the secretary and ask her about what is going on. Maybe there is a boss in that agency too. It's beyond my understanding how the lawyer acts too. Well, with missing infos i should not speak bad. I will try to get the infos and see what is going on.

Yes. Withdrawal confirmation mails are not going out. Nor are Test mails or the deactivation mails. You can't get your BTC off cryptostocks currently if you have mail confirmation activated.

It's basically gone.  Roll Eyes

I once tried to reach kumala because he could provide information regarding the labcoin scammer, because he sold additional shares and such, but i was not successfull. He did not react on any ways i contacted him. So the best bet, i think, might be answering in his service thread. Maybe he reads there. I did so now, let's see if something happens:

Kumala if you read this... i know you fix cryptostocks once in a while to get rid of the red error message. But it seems you did not realize that the email function is not working. Which leads to problems since cryptostocks doesn't send out any email at all... that brings trouble to account owners because email verification, password reminder and such doesn't work anymore.

Since you did not abandon your project i guess you still care a bit for it. In order to not lose further users i would suggest you check the email function and repair it.

1917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin address you have right now? why you have more than one? on: December 09, 2015, 11:30:53 PM
How much bitcoin address do you have and why you have to create more than one address?
They say it was said by Satoshi to "use the address once and discard it " ,other than that it is much difficult for people to track you and you could keep track of all the deals you have ever done (by labeling the address) if you create a new address per transaction.
I got around 400~ maybe.

I do not know how people are managing many bitcoin addresses. I have created 10 addresses using multibit, but 7 of them still unused. I do receive facuet payments and my signature campaign payments are all in one address and I could not find any advantages of using many addresses.

If you only receie payments from the same source then it would not make a big difference. But handling many addresses is not hard. You would be able to lable each address with the actual trade that happened. And you don't need to care about old addresses anymore.
1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin address you have right now? why you have more than one? on: December 09, 2015, 11:28:53 PM
3 Addresses, Just because it's very easy to make more than one, no specific reason for having more than one though.

Oh there is. Or would you place a list with all your transactions at the door of your flat so that everyone can read everywhere where you sent money to or received money from? Allowing that different bitcoin addresses are connectable leads to you letting everyone know where you are involved. If you tipped some cammodels, you took part in ponzies or whatever. It could be seen relatively easy.

Check out walletexplorer.com. They try to find out which addresses belong to which website and wallet. Maybe you already can find more about you than you thought.

It's up but you can't do anything because emails are not working. Still stuck with my money on the platform.  Undecided

You mean cryptostocks has an error in their mailsystem so that no emails are sent out? Didn't know that yet. I already wondered why no emails are sent when divs appear.

I guess it is impossible to make kumala fix this since i don't know how he can be reached. One reason for being cautious with using cryptostocks.

Why can't you get your funds out without sent emails? I believe i did not have to click a link in email to receive my divs. Though maybe that is a security option.
