AFAIK core plans to make the wallet HD in the long run.

[1] https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_broadcasting

That's great. I think I simply have read too many threads of people that didn't realize that they could lose privkeys or/and actually lost bitcoins because of a backup that was slightly too old.

That's pretty much the reason I wouldn't escrow, and probably other members as well. There are just too many frauds that go on in the forum, and people that want to rip off someone else.

Believe me, I often enough think of giving up. The time involved is high, the reward miniscule and not seldom you get a promise for a tip but no tip at all at the end.

And yes, many escrows gave up already... I'm sure they enjoy the free time they have now... haven't really lost much from that.

Though without escrows the scamsituation on here would be way way worse.

Serge V.

At the end it's correct that it's not possible to make it totally safe. As escrow you can only try to find potential risks and avoid them or try to lessen them.

The best way to make the deal safe is to motivate both parties to be honest each with other and eliminate the third side that can make responsible decisions (such as escrow agent).

I wonder if you are new on here or if your english is only that bad that you miswrote what you meant. I doubt that you really believe that a scammer can be motivated to be honest to his trading partner.

Without escrows the situation on bitcointalk would be way way worse. You never notice it because so many scams are stopped in the beginning only because an escrow is mentioned, then another big bunch when the escrow gets involved and alot of deals end before the escrow got released because before that doubts appear or a clear accusation comes into.

Well, I think you miswrote... or you somehow managed to never get scammed.
1103  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: i heard someone attacked bitcoin network by lot of transaction...? on: March 09, 2016, 08:54:25 AM
even i had heard that....rumors i suppose...because it difficult to attack bitcoin network

It's possible because an artificially restriction in the bitcoin protocol. Initially implemented to prevent spam, though it never served that purpose, it now is held up by some bitcoiners as an important groundstone of the bitcoin protocol that has to be kept in all cases. In the meanwhile the protocol suffers suffocation and bitcoiners get annoyed because transactions don't get confirmations.

It's the current "raise 1MB blocksize limit" discussion that is dividing the whole bitcoin community.
1104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we find Bitcoin wallet? on: March 09, 2016, 08:49:08 AM
When it would become a deterministic one, maybe at least as an option, then it would be even more attractive in my eyes. I would not like having to use an old backup only to find that some addresses can't be recovered because the backup doesn't include freshly created bitcoin addresses that might already hold coins.
Backups should be frequent in these cases or you need to properly use coin control and control the input && change address each time.

I already control it all the time and do regular backups though the standard wallet is different with its creation of new bitcoin addresses. It might happen that an error slowly comes into a wallet, you make backups and backups and only then realize the error. You try to go back but the last backup that does not contain it is pretty old. Happened with electrum at least once so a deterministic wallet is another form of backup that would protect the basic things in a wallet on top of backups.
1105  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-E USD BANK ACCOUNT CLOSED. on: March 09, 2016, 08:44:31 AM
It's not always cheaper, and when you throw in the cost of the transfer plus the sheer grind of it, it's a pretty strange choice for anyone. I never know what to make of the place, whether they very occasionally scam someone but keep enough of the rest happy or whether these are all genuine mistakes.

In fact as long as I know btc-e they had always higher prices than the other exchanges. Fees are higher too. The only reason many chose that exchange is because he has no regulation, so it is ideal for scammers that want to stay anonymous or for third world countries whose citicens otherwise can't use other exchanges.

Some bullshit ......... till now all scam attempts Iam aware of could be stopped because the scammer ultimately was not so totally smart like he thought.

Huh  Grin yeah right  Kiss

Why would you be so smart since everthing is simple and stupid  Wink

Anyways good luck bro.

Note: Try to follow KYC & AML terms for a SAFE escrow lool  Grin  Grin

Right... my sentence was not the best. I only referred to the small part of trades that you referred to before.

At the end it's correct that it's not possible to make it totally safe. As escrow you can only try to find potential risks and avoid them or try to lessen them.
1107  Economy / Services / Re: (CLOSED) For now. on: March 08, 2016, 09:30:48 PM
Now when I think about it, redesigning is not a matter of 2 weeks. It can take a lot of time. Getting a design can be fast only when the designer has not much work. Mostly it will take a month or more. Then implementing it will take at least 2 weeks too.

Well, maybe they have their own designers and only exchange graphics or so. Smiley
1108  Other / Meta / Re: Automatically exchange words on the forum? on: March 08, 2016, 09:27:57 PM
Well this should be easy to implement, the forum already does this with certain domains such as ones that end in .tk

But as whywefight said, you should request this for the new forum, I think it will be live in two or three months so i dont think we should waste any time implementing anything new here

Really? Interesting... didn't hear of this. I wonder what all the accounts will be worth then that account traders collected on the old forum. Cheesy

Yeah certain links are replaced by [suspicious link removed] or something similar. Its mainly used for those link shorteners that are against the rules AFAIK. I dont see a problem to add *bitcointaIk* to that list.

That's good to hear too though my previous answer was more directed at your second paragraph. I'm sure there are a lot of account traders holding a stash of many bitcointalk accounts. I wonder if they will be worth something anymore in the new forum.

Besides that, it would be pretty fast to add this link then. Actually I'm surprised that that domain was not snatched before. It is a very old blackhat trick to replace these 2 letters.
1109  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bangladesh considering abandoning Islam as its official religion on: March 08, 2016, 09:24:34 PM
I am pretty, sure that you know nothing about islam.
If you really would know, you couldn't hate so mich.
If you want to harm yourself by drinking or etc, you should do it out of society. In your house you can be a homosexual too. But you can't be a bad sample for society by doimg that front of them.

I hate so much? I'm not sure where you have read that but it sounds a bit like you are at the end of factual discussion. Well, not surprising on a topic that does live on beliefs.

And how can drinking harm society? Drunken persons go to police station, harm avoided.

And what kind of homosexuals do you know that practice homosexuality in front of you? Smiley

The only harm coming from seeing a homosexual couple holding hands is the harm that exists in the heads of haters. That's all. The couples love can be more pure than the love of most married couples.

> homosexuals who destroy family life and spread dissease.

Well, so much for the informed society you life in.

> I am really not extremist. I just try telling truth and in my country there's freedom for speech😊

So you enjoy the freedom of a secular country and still ask for the sharia... well get to terms with being an extremist.
1110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Epic, monstrous post of Jihan Wu (AntPool) on: March 08, 2016, 09:10:30 PM
I wonde actually in which type of country you live in. A democracy it surely isn't or you are the type that thinks "the guys at the top will do the right thing, they probably know better than me". Which lets me ask what kind of government you would chose.
False interpretation of my words. Look at how wonderful the democracies of today are. Seems to be a system that is working very well (a lot of countries being highly corrupted as a example). My wording may not be the best here as I'm not into politics.

Democracy is not yet strong, I know. But still it has proven as a way better way for now. And the people don't agree to corruption so even lobbyist influence on politicians is a real point of critics nowadays. It goes in the right direction at least.

Core fans always tell everyone that bitcoin is no democracy, well, it should. Anyway... you surely should have realized that most bitcoiners are not the kind of subservient and obedient citizens you might be.
So instead of reading, listening and learning the users should complain, spread misinformation and FUD since their technical expertise are severely lacking or non existent? Surely this will be beneficial to the system. I never said that Core should be blindly followed. Nobody should.

It's good to read that you say no one should follow blindly. Though what you should see is that many people that are screaming on one side or the other actually miss knowledge. I switched sides one time, well, maybe I switch more often on subtopics too. The point is that this happens when my knowledge is rising. So discussing the topics is very important.

But even when all facts are on the table, especially the topic at hand is a topic that leaves ALOT room for interpretation and guessing of the future. So what sounds logical on the one side sounds illogical on the other and vice versa. That surely does not mean that misinformations and FUD are spread out of bad habit but because it is the stand of knowledge or/and because you can ask both sides to the same points and both sides can show that they are right. So it's not really bringing anything forward claiming it is FUD.
1111  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: March 08, 2016, 09:02:23 PM
"Bitcoins are a potential investment, cash is not" this is the point in my opinion, cash have not fluctuate price so deep, and bitcoin have it,and also nowdays people more aware with something on internet than aware with cash,we know cash more easy to rob or other badluck, but bitcoin worry less because it have no physical.

Of course there are sometimes people that invest in fiat. Sometimes the USDollar is pretty cheap compared to the Euro. Then there are people, mostly having not the best knowledge, that buy USD and sell it later when the price is higher.

Well, they don't know the forex markets but forex is nothing other too than investing into fiat. Possibly because there are different fiat currencies. And on forex market it does not matter so much if the fluctuations are not so big. Leverage there is high. So small changes can compete with normal bitcoin moves too.

So no, it's not only bitcoin that is used as investment.
1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we find Bitcoin wallet? on: March 08, 2016, 08:55:45 PM
Unfortunately electrum servers does know much more. They know all the addresses of a wallet and can connect them. They only would need one address to be known belonging to a user and they would know that all these addresses belong to that user.
That's why people should use Core. It doesn't even take much space anymore as you can keep it running in pruned mode.

Yes, the wallets basing on that codesbase become more and more attractive though it's still happening too often that the blockchain needs to be redownloaded it seems. Comes up often that problem. Or maybe they fixed it in the meanwhile.

When it would become a deterministic one, maybe at least as an option, then it would be even more attractive in my eyes. I would not like having to use an old backup only to find that some addresses can't be recovered because the backup doesn't include freshly created bitcoin addresses that might already hold coins.

The person was very clear about authorizing the forwarding of the bitcoins. Well, the hacker ralobot surely chose the matching words and shortly after send a pm from ralobot's account that he sent the pm. It looked clearly like both parties fulfilled their duties and the buyer was pleased.

You don't think I would read the buyer writing me that he did not receive anything and still would release the coins, don't you? Of course the buyer only could answer on my email telling both parties that the coins are released and the escrow ended. The buyer never realized that something was off before that.

Sure, I would not release the coins, I wonder why you mention it at all. Cheesy And yes, I would try to find out what is going on. Easiest way would be to contact the buyer through other ways or ask another user to send him a pm. Or my brandnew altaccount. Cheesy

So you suggest a signature. Well, I'm not sure if you ever tried to explain signatures to someone new to it. It is no fun. Adding this to every escrowtrade... I would stop instantly now. Because it would be a huge hassle to explain everything in many cases. And escrow would become more complicated and longer. Which is, when I enforce it, a disadvantage of using escrows. People already switch or use no escrow at all only because I'm not online the whole day. So making that mandatory is not cool.

Well, I might suggest it to the trading parties at the start. Give me a phpkey or a bitcoin address you want to sign with when you want me to release coins or when you received the goods. Might still mean alot of explainations but maybe it works.

Man... and all this for this single happening. Wonder how often it will happen at all. Well done ralobot. >:-(

Ralobot.com

There are some cases when I actually can check if the goods reached. Couponcodes whose value I can check before I release it to the buyer without letting the seller know the time when I do. Buyer takes the amounts and tells me to release.

Or accounts might be able to be secured by me before forwarding them.

With material goods. There is tracking and both parties can make videos and images.

But you are sure that it is not 100% scamproof. It is a protection and till now all scam attempts Iam aware of could be stopped because the scammer ultimately was not so totally smart like he thought.

But yes, surely it's not absolutely safe. It's surely safer than sending bitcoins first and receiving nothing, yes.
1114  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your trading strategy? on: March 08, 2016, 08:27:17 PM
Best strategy is to have patience. You need to wait for a low price and sell after this with a high price.

We can hold the bitcoin Instead of buying the bitcoin and selling for high price...
Atleast we can hold the bitcoin until block halving.

Why should block halving have an effect? Even if there would be an effect then it would be a speculative one. And speculators have the setting that they will await the future. So they will adapt before. And if they await a price rush then that will happen some weeks before. Might even crash at block halving when the further rise is not happening then.
1115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you call someone with 1000BTC? on: March 08, 2016, 08:24:48 PM
Or "Grand Bitcoiner" as 1000 $ is usually call a grand, could be applied to BTC

That sounds like the most exact and matching naming. If you want to use bitcoin then you have to take bitcoin in the name and that name has something like big, similar to millionaire has now.

Well, branding for that name would still have to be done by the press. Maybe it becomes a status object and certain millionaires want to be in the club, buying bitcoins to be "part of it". Cheesy

It seems kumala has read and fixed that the trade stop is being sat back every day. So it might be that kumala did not abandon his projects totally and that he reads on here. At least the security that should sit on trade stop remains in this state now.

I once asked in the forum is someone knows kumala personally but no one said a word. He surely can't be anonymous to everyone but it seems he is pretty good anonymous for now.

At least he did not run with the funds or so. He had the chance some times. Probably he is known by some, they only don't come out yet.

1118  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bangladesh considering abandoning Islam as its official religion on: March 07, 2016, 11:09:29 PM
[quote

You claim sharia is only for the bad. The problem is who defines who is bad.
According to Islam, world life is temporary and an examination. The real life is the life after death.
But you prepare your endless life in world. Therefore Allah, shows the way how to make yourself ready in world  for endless Hereafter life.

Well, only because you and others believe so doesn't make it a fact you can proof. No one can proof. Otherwise everyone would believe in god.

Besides that... not everyone wants to throw away his life on here in the hope of some glimmer after dead. For a materialist person this is simply foolish. Believing that all will be good after the life. No proof at all.

It was pretty good in the christian wars. God will love you when you kill muslims. Cheesy You surely agree that this is not a concept someone should follow.

Shaia is a system which organize human life.
All rules are written in Quran and an Islamic council interpret and organise to current life.

A unreligious person would ask you why should he follow rules that are written in an old book coming from dark ages where people killed each other regularly? It is only a book for them. Religious people are giving it the meaning.

When you would be born a christian you would believe in the bible the same way you believe in the quran now. Because you learned it that way, checked it for yourself and believed.

So which book to follow? God said the bible is the book, god said the quran is the book. Logically either both books are right or wrong. If they are right then they contradict each other and there would be a right thing in both that match in the other. But many things would have to be discarded.

Because every age has own new situation. Every country has own situation and according to situations laws and punishments may be flexible or softer.

That should not be possible. If the quran is the word of god then there is no interpretation. The christians have it easier. They have the new testament and can say that this is the new deal with god. All the archaic things like stoning are part of the past deal.

For example sharia has "talion"  rule. This is Allah's order.
If you kill a man willfuly, you should know that you'll be executed by judgement.
Now i ask you. If one man kills your father or son willfuly, what do you do? Human nature wants to take revenge. Sharia takes your revenge instead of you.

So we have another rule in quran than in the bible. The bible says the way is to forgive and love. So both can't be truth.

What do you do when it's proven later that another man killed your father? Will you feel like a murderer too? You could have prevented it when that man still lives and can go free out of jail. Life can't be given back.

If one man steals a bread there's no punishment in Sharia because he was hungry.
If he does, it as like a profession he will be punished from soft to hardest penalty. The hardest punishment is to cut his hand .
By the way a state governed by Sharia should provide employment to all citizens and tax, rate can't be, more than %5.
If one man can't work for any reason like sickness,  disability, etc., government should pay him salary for a living.
Every rules in Sharia have logical,  reasonable reason.

Sure, every rule can be explained. It only doesn't mean that you have to kill a man because he killed a man. It might have some logic but makes you the same the man is.

In Islamic belief Allah wants to manage and organise human's world life before endless Hereafter.
Allah banned some bad treatments and behaviours in Quran.
You will not drink alcohol, because alcohol is bad and harmful.
You will not make adultery,  because it is very bad and terminates family life.
You will not say lie.
You will not play gamble
You will not make gossip
You will not steal
You will not kill
You will not be greedy
You will not be stingy
How a religion can be bad which advices good and forbids bad?

Well, as long as people are free to harm themselfes with bad things it would be more free. It's up to them. It should be a religious rule but as punishment secular rules should apply.

And sure, every religion claims to know the truth and wants the good. The IS wants the good too... on the outside. That's where their new terrorists come from. And yes, they can show them that they are right. In the quran. It's simpel to do such things. Still... it's nothing that should be done.

I'm pretty sure all the cruel rules of the quran for punishment could be spoken away with other bigger rules like love and such. It's all up for interpretation. And it's pretty sure that such interpretations exist.

So what is a religion when it is interpreted by man and can be interpreted different ways? It's a mess.

Relgion should be something a person can follow to have faith and be a better man. As long as he does not push his opinion on others. It's the same with harming. One can harm himself if he wishes but society should step in when he harms others. And religious people unfortunately sometimes tend to harm others. There are such persons in all religions.
1119  Other / Meta / Re: Automatically exchange words on the forum? on: March 07, 2016, 10:52:12 PM
of course that can be done, but like always when it comes to usefull stuff, we will see this maybe in the new forum software Roll Eyes

Well, that might take another year... or two. Tongue

But I think this forum is not lost completely. Small things are implemented regularly, like newbie warnings in posts and such.

I believe such a change here would be minor because I'm pretty sure the forum software already has a function to replace words.
1120  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beaware Ralobot.com is a scammer, Trying to steal my account Password on: March 07, 2016, 10:48:56 PM
Wow. I would've fallen for that. How did you catch such a scam site? That's a pretty sly scammer.

Change your password and stake an address.

By checking the website address of the page you're logging into. It's pretty simple stuff lol

Yes, no green lock on the left of url.

Having to login manually because password manager doesn't autofill.

Checking URL when hovering in the bottom left of the browser window will show you strange signs even when you can't see that a small L is in fact a big i. Though surely, that is hard as long as you don't get aware of it by the login.

Though I don't understand how it can be that the hacker still was in the account since the victim claims that he changed pass.
