1921  Economy / Gambling / Re: AI has beaten top poker professionals on: December 23, 2017, 12:06:51 PM
Well it's not really surprising is it?
I know that poker has even been solved in texas holdem limit. Which means that an IA has managed to find the perfect way to play the game, no matter what the human does. But it's only on head up (two players) and with limit to the bet amount.

So next one to fall might be limitless poker :p
1922  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency as our Fiat on: December 22, 2017, 03:35:19 PM
Hi,

I really ike this idea, indeed, because it would mean that we have managed to get rid ok banks.

However, I see 2 main problems, preventing bitcoin from being used as a daily money:
1)  for the moment most shops don't have any infrastructure to manage bitcoin. I guess most owners do not even know about it
2)  the current volatility of bitcoin make it completely inaccurate for daily use

What do you think?
1923  Economy / Economics / Re: High prices mean even higher volatility on: December 22, 2017, 03:28:14 PM
Hi,

You are right, indeed.
Still, the volatility of bitcoin is an important issue.

Specialists, economists and so on, are right when they say that bitcoin cannot be a real currency as long as it is so volatile. Just because you can't have the costs of your daily shopping increase by 1000% within a year or change drastically every couple of hours.

Any idea about how to stabilize it?
1924  Economy / Economics / Re: Help with my crypto position on: December 22, 2017, 03:17:25 PM
I think you made the right decision.

Just wait a little longer. You have nothing to lose as long as you don't need this money immediately. Selling now would mean that you are losing money. Nonesense! Wait until it bounces bakc, it surely will.

1925  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a Medium of Exchange on: December 22, 2017, 03:00:41 PM
You are so right!

Mass medias actually present bitcoin as an unreliable currency, mostly used by drug dealers and porn users (I merely exagerate what they say). It is not. Most people that have invested long ago are sticking with bitcoin because they believe in its power.

And I am one of them. Bitcoin may allow us to get rid of banks over the long term but even at short-term, we can make changes in society! That's why this tool is so much more than just an algorythm and that's why I don't want it to die!
1926  Economy / Economics / Re: Black friday crypto correction on: December 22, 2017, 02:47:18 PM
Hi,

If you can, I think that wiating is a good idea. The price is not yet the lowest you can get. People are panicking, you can actually make the most of such general chaos.

Though, remember that bitcoin is not only about making profit, ok? Wink
1927  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think on bitcoin going down? How much will it lower down? on: December 22, 2017, 02:39:13 PM
No one actually knows about how low it will get..

That's impossible to say if it will stop and bounce back at 9k, 5K, 2k, 100$... No one can tell you that!

I guess that most bitcoiners (at least I do) hope that prices will become low enough to be able to invest and then hope for increases as we have seen in november!
1928  Economy / Economics / Re: A Global Recession on: December 22, 2017, 02:34:20 PM
Hi,

Actually, have you seen any repercussions of Brexit on EU? I have not.

When the vote was past, many people thought it would deeply change things. I guess it won't. First because the British government is not in line with the population's decision and second because other leaders in the European Union won't let Britain vanish from the organisation.

The political situation in Europe is an incredible mess. But I think it is also a great place to observe trends. Former revolution have started in Europe, and I guess another one is steming!
1929  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: December 22, 2017, 02:24:49 PM
While I don't have many posts. I got involved in Bitcoin in 2013 and joined this forum in 2014. While I do not consider myself wealthy from Bitcoin yet. I do have an idea of how I would like to direct some of this new found wealth. I think most of the people who got involved early got involved for the right reasons. IE: To change the world and move humanity out of the control of the bankers. I am concerned that the new people coming may only be in to make money. I hope I am wrong, I really want this technology to be a force of good in the world and deliver economic freedom to the masses and the unbanked. My hope is everyone who was early, has some idea in mind that will help others. Maybe help your family, or a charity that you think isn't wasting money, or building a community swimming pool etc. If you have a lot of money think big and how you can change the world for the better. This is our chance!

I completely agree with what you are saying. And actually, some posts on this forum show how much newbie can be short-sighted, only seeing opportunities for short-term profits in bitcoin.

Indeed, we are the one able to change things. We should not wait for institutions to make the big decisions, because we are the only one responsible for our own life!

It is hard to make people understand but slowly, mindset are changing. As for getting rid of banks... I would like to burn such wasteful firms, but most people are still convinced banks are necessary!
1930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If the bitcoin holder dies on: December 22, 2017, 02:17:52 PM
Well.. its bitcoin get stuck in the void...

Even if the family know about it, they may not have the corresponding codes, account and necessary knowledge to get it back.
That's one of the issue about bitcoin but actually.. For the moment there is no solution.

I guess the best that can be done is tell someone about it. Someone you know in real life and someone you really think you can trust.
1931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is DEAD on: December 22, 2017, 02:15:05 PM
Maybe I'm wrong but isn't the "wait and see" strategy a good solution?

These fees are indeed completely incredible but it may change.. Especially is everyone stops making money transfer as long as they are that high...

Regarding your alternative.. I'm sorry to say that but it cannot be a solution. The problem will be the same in a while..
1932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Goes Down! Surprising or not on: December 22, 2017, 01:27:59 PM
Actually, I think that 2k is really low...

I doubt it will reach those levels but maybe I am completely wrong.. I would say that over the short term it may reach 9k and after a while maybe 5k.. But not lower. Just because I guess bitcoinners will rush to buy at those levels!

Still, I can of course be wrong. It is actually really hard to make any accurate forecasts, so will are all merely placing bets!

Good luck and good year everyone! Wink
1933  Economy / Speculation / Re: I Am Seeing RED !! on: December 22, 2017, 01:10:36 PM
I guess it will go down for a while indeed, before things get better.

I personnally think that bitcoin will drop till 9k, that is to say levels around which it was before the high rise by the end of 2017...

And indeed, I think it is a great opportunity in fact and not the catastrophe some are talking about!

Though, of course, I cannot be sure. Still, I think there's no reason to freak out! Wink
1934  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason behind Bitcoin Dip (Crash) on: December 22, 2017, 12:56:31 PM
Hi,

Actually... Don't panic. Sell or hold, according to your long-term goal... But don't panic. This is just a normal reaction from the market after a period of sharp increases!

There are cicles on every markets. Regarding bitcoin, every one and especially specialists and traditionnal economists are freaking out.. Just because the bitcoin is something new and hard to understand if you only consider traditionnal currencies!

Conclusion: don't panic! Wink
1935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Optimistic for 2018? on: December 22, 2017, 12:45:56 PM
Hi,

I am quite optimistic.. Let's say about 6.

Which is not so bad if you consider all that's happening. I hope the situation may evolve for the best, but I must say I highly doubt the end of 2018 will be better than 2017...

Still, I am quite optimistic, if we only consider bitcoin in itself! Cheesy
1936  Other / Off-topic / Re: If bitcoin goes to zero on: December 20, 2017, 02:54:54 PM
I don't see how it could possibly go down to zero..

But let's imagine this happen. Well, either it dies and the community slowly disappear or switch to another crypto-currency.. Or, it is just a new opportunity, meaning that people just wait a little so that they can buy bitcoin again, hoping to make large profits.

It would be a very strange situation, and actually a big loss for many...
1937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC price decreases and BCH increases sharply, why? on: December 20, 2017, 02:44:04 PM
Hi,

What you are writing actually makes no sense. If you the current price is lower than the price at which you bought, then it would be stupid to sell. Such panic moves make incredible trends but they should not exist.

Yes, some people are selling. And indeed, after bitcoin prices have skyrocketed, they wish to keep on making profit, thourgh other crypto currencies. If you sell now, you do exactly as they want. And you are not the one becoming rich in the end!

Don't panic. And do as you feel! Wink
1938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Christmas And BTC? on: December 20, 2017, 02:32:50 PM
Hi,

I don't think that Christmas or holiday affect bitcoin moves, but I guess that the period of the year does. Every year, we can observe chaotic moves in December (generally increase in prices) and then a "stabilization" (bitcoin is still volatile, but a bit less let's say) in January.

There also tend to be chaotic moves in summer. I guess that it correspounds to periods at which people are making a point. What they have won, what they have lost. And depending on the result, they invest or they sell.

Makes sense, right?
1939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank Threatens To Close Accounts Of Bitcoin Buyers on: December 20, 2017, 02:26:36 PM
He should definitely change banks.

I understand large banking institutions may feel jeopardized by bitcoin.. but for the moment they know they still have the upper hand.
There is no reason to refuse such transactions.. as for the banks, it only makes a new source of revenue, so new funds to place on traditionnal trading places.

In the end, I hope bitcoin will allow us to get rid of traditionnal banks. But it is still too soon!
1940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is an Illuminati Scam? on: December 20, 2017, 02:21:50 PM
Hi,

Actually all the points you are highlighting can be supported indeed. The bitcoin, its market and its community are quite "new" so quite unsure and indeed there is an almost complete lack of regulation about it.

BUT

This doesn't mean there must be some kind of conspiracy. Illuminati, right? I cannot prove they don't exist and even saying just that makes me sound as a conspirator for those who believe in such theories. Just calm down.

Bitcoin is.. full of opportunities but also loaded with scams. Just learn from your mistake in order to avoid scams. And forget about illuminatis! Wink
