Gonna go up soon, next rise will be pretty quick so keep an eye on those charts  Grin Grin
Yeah strong hands are keeping the price where it is. Bears are losing.
1922  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 18, 2014, 11:08:35 AM
Got my bid orders at $432, is this too low??

maybe 448 is better

I think 440-450 is good, but 460~ is safer play

I don't see the price going any lower than $480 really.  There is so much resistance between here and $432 anwyay
1923  Economy / Speculation / Re: $600 by end of today? on: April 18, 2014, 11:07:18 AM
prices dropped a bit due to Chinese bank account closure. It will rise slowly again.

Still a fairly stable range though so its nice to be above 500 again

Below $500 for now.  But the appetite is there, just need a few more weak hands to get out of the market and more breathing space from MT Gox and China rumors.
1924  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens to the price if mass acceptance is not achieved? on: April 17, 2014, 09:00:57 PM
I think it's a pretty black and white situation for any specific "coin" or protocol. Either it will make it and keep going up in value (deflation), or it will die completely (or at least down to pennies on the dollar so to speak).

Crytocurrency as a whole will be around for a long long time though.

Just my 2 satoshi

Based on what I have seen so far, it seems like a lot of cryptos don't quite die but just keep slowly losing value and crawling along. I could probably like a hundred examples.

It seems like now investors are getting leery of 500 million altcoins, there are too many of them and most flop.

If we are strictly talking about Bitcoin, I think it could survive even if mass acceptance is never achieved. It could remain as a niche thing for computer enthusiasts now that so much ground work has already been laid out. Think of it like those credit cards that are not commonly accepted but some people still insist on using them whenever they can.
Yes I think it could also survive as a niche payment method for die-hard libertarians
1925  Economy / Speculation / Re: What spurs the next run? on: April 17, 2014, 07:36:12 PM
Gox's 200,000+ btc is going to be liquidated soon, and that could be bullish or bearish depending on how you look at it. Some people view the recent positive assessment by financial analysts as bullish. I don't really see much on the horizon right now that would draw the masses that we'd need to go from $500 to $5000. The average person who had heard of btc has only heard negative things about it; hacks, stolen coins, drugs, nerds, etc.

How can a sudden rush of supply be good?
1926  Economy / Economics / What happens to the price if mass acceptance is not achieved? on: April 17, 2014, 03:42:40 PM
How much will it fall?  I imagine a large chunk of the price is based on future potential, rather than current utility.

Just to counter-act the bears.

Will update if this situation ever changes, and can be bumped when rumours spread again

1929  Economy / Economics / Does anyone else feel like Bitcoin is a safe investment? on: April 17, 2014, 08:40:58 AM
All my fiat's value is simply being eroded by inflation and if the UK government defaults on its huge amounts of debt, the £ could be worth next to nothing.

Yeah, Bitcoin fluctuates but the risk of a total collapse of Bitcoin seems less likely than fiat currencies when you think about it.
1930  Economy / Speculation / Re: $600 by end of today? on: April 17, 2014, 07:00:39 AM
It is just a matter of time now

1937  Economy / Speculation / Re: $600 by end of today? on: April 16, 2014, 08:24:48 AM
There is no more resistance.  First $560, then $600, then $2000
1938  Economy / Speculation / $520 Breakout on: April 16, 2014, 05:37:31 AM
Its happened.

Who is panic buying?
1939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon has just legitimized Bitcoin to the Entire World!!!! on: April 16, 2014, 05:07:27 AM
I hope Amazon never accepts bitcoins, ever. Because if they did, they would convert it to fiat by selling it outright, thus driving down the btc price. Look what happened after overstock and tigerdirect started accepting btc. Amazon is much bigger, thus will have bigger effect.
As mentioned elsewhere, people who spend BTC often buy it back.  Also, this is a necessary evil to go through until merchants buy and hold BTC
