Yeah.  It's terrible.  I feel like i got my foot in a bear trap.

I run two nodes, of the 83000 on the network.

These bellcurve dwellers are a sad lot.

You might have been able to talk yourself into custodial wallets being OK but not everyone agrees. If you don't like being around people you disagree with then yes, you should probably stay out of there.

I would stress that my viewpoint has much more nuance than that.  I do not use custodial wallets (well very much... I try most everything).  And i do not think they are the best choice for all people.  AND I hope the people of El Salvador will begin to shift towards non-custodial lightning solutions since I think mostly they are using WoS so far.

I do not see that we can possibly "get rid of the banks" and have been making this point ad-nauseum for years.  Us in here??  Yeah we won't need them.  And interestingly neither will many of the people of El Salvador.  But most people are going to NEED to trust others.

My wife is brilliant, but she has no time for me to explain how our multisig wallets work.  I have beautiful instructions typed up in the vault for when the bus hits me.  She trusts me.  This is a good thing.

I *LOVE* being around people I disagree with.  An easy example:  You and I are falling on different sides of this argument, and I APPRECIATE the discussion.  As much of a iconoclast as he was around here I quite enjoyed jbreher and miss him.  But the signal to noise in /r/btc is mind numbing.  I would give some ridiculous examples but it would be a waste of time.

It's narratives, narratives all the way down.

Jeebus, please someone throw a cold glass of water on me.

For some reason I went into /r/btc and started posting in there. I feel like I was swarmed by zombies.

But also, I have to admit, I kind of like how mad they are.  I am sorry they are losing, but I did not pick their side for them.

Bots which will ignore what you write and keep down voting all replies until you leave, or BCH paid shills, it's a cesspool, made the same mistake myself a while back.

Yeah.  It's terrible.  I feel like i got my foot in a bear trap.

Speaking of Volcanos...

Tee hee...

*EDIT!*

Oh wow... I would love to take credit for this... but it really was the volcano.

Shouldn't be a triangle though but rather a down channel.

I should have left the bottom part off... I was just having fun with the line tool.  What I was seeing was a bullflag.

I think ours wants to go to 38750-ish

When evil idiots like Senator Warren say what she said... I propose we just say back:
VOLCANO, BITCH.

US inflation is at 5%.

But it is temporary.

Yes…
Brrrrr

Ha 5%.  Is that what they are saying?  Someone pulled that number outta they ass...  I think at least 2x that.

But it's definitely temporary.  It's obviously not staying at this level whether we want to call it 5 or 10.  15 and 20 come next.

Anyone out there use Specter wallet yet?

I have a few favorite wallets.  Electrum is just the tried and true killer wallet.  I am also a big fan of Feather wallet which is really just electrum for Monero (hush Jay).

I've looked at it but not used it much yet, since Electrum has fulfilled all my personal needs and can also do multi-sig, just not as easily maybe? I have not really tried. But Specter is made by the same guys doing paid multi-sig services, Unchained Capital, and they do have a few videos.

It looks like they will cater to large hodlers much more than Electrum.

As for Feather, I was not aware of that ... I did hear there is a new atomic swapping thingy now between BTC and XMR, no need to go through any exchange. I don't have any Monero, but considering it for transactions or just to bounce it around in lieu of CoinJoin or other Bitcoin native privacy thingies.

Yeah.  I have all my wallets done in Electrum.  But Specter is a really well done implementation.  Try it!  Works great.  Of course you can have the same wallet in it as Electrum.

I actually think the Monero atomic swap thing is going to possibly benefit Bitcoin at least temporarily.  If you do need to use any Monero for the anonymizing then Feather would be a go to.  It really *is* Electrum.

But recently as I have been working on upgrading my storage a bit since I am finally really really close to becoming a wholecoiner. And I decided to try Specter.  What a nicely done little app!  Very well done.  Code is python so it can run on anything and looks very clean and well done.  I first tried it on my raspiblitz node.  Runs as well in a web interface as in the "desktop app" which is built in Electron which is a html/css app container.

Anyway, it does a great job, and is definitely a WO level wallet in that it checks off all the ethos stuff.  It's made to point at your own node for example.  It also handles multi-sig wallet creation elegantly, and has great HW wallet support for an app this new.  I was excited to use it with my KeepKey which I was tricked into buying back when they did that $10 thing (actually the keep key might be THE sleeper hardware wallet.  it's a nice bit of gear).  But I did find a bug with the keepkey implementation.  But they support every major hardware wallet I have heard of, as well as having a cool opensource project to actually build your own.

Anyway... my realy review of is??  Five stars.  Well 4.5 stars 'till they get the keepkey thing fixed.

A lot of people complaining that poor people in El Savador are not able to use Bitcoin due to fee's, they are laughing the project will fail... until they find out about Lightning for the first time.

I love those face melting realization. Smiley

I guess they don't realize the whole reason this is happening is that THE PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN USING IT FOR MONTHS! Wink

Such a typical sort of worldview.  Goes with the whole "we have to help the babies" bullshit.  It's the soft bigotry that is based on the idea that Salvadorians are too dumb and poor to use an "expensive first world" tool like bitcoin.

Pisses me off so much.

Like you say though... before they have a chance to say "Bcash" the whole country will have Wallet of Satoshi running.  Faces melted.

By the way, I am opening a 10 million satoshi channel to Wallet of Satoshi and setting the fees to 0/0.

There's a will there's a way.

The land of volcanos is mining bitcoin using geothermal energy.

HOT DAMN!  Literally.

I am changing my personal text...  sorry proudhon.

Click the profile tab and under 'modify profile', click 'forum profile information' then look to the right for Avatar - upload it there.

All good.  Don't know how I could not see it!

This could be a serious problem for Western Union.....

No.. they are toast already.  Way too late for them if they have not figured out what their new business is.

Kodak started selling SD cards.  Western Union should maybe sell Azte.co vouchers or something.  They make buggy whips.
1937  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 09, 2021, 05:36:59 PM

You see it don't you? Not everyone does.  I figure MOST of us WO folks do...  Crazy.  We are STILL so early.

It's about to get so crazy.

El Salvador has volunteered to be the first country to go live in PRODUCTION with the lightning network.  They will be richly rewarded for this.

I think those laser eyes are so silly...  But I almost want to put them on all my images now.

There's nothing silly about a 100k bitcoin though Smiley

I had no idea that I needed this so badly!

If only I could remember how to update my avatar?  Have they turned it off?
1938  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 09, 2021, 05:23:11 PM
lets see if this channel holds

It won't hold because bitcoin cannot stay above $35k as I've confirmed multiple times now.

What was your timeframe again?  That clock is currently ticking!
1939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 09, 2021, 05:19:51 PM
any statement from proudhon when he will move to El Salvador?

EDIT: BTW, what has happened to JorgeStolfi?

That dumbass is still posting the exact same things he was posting back in 2011 and on...  But mostly from Twitter now.

Sometimes i wonder if he is a multi-millionaire thanks to bitcoin.  Should be.  Absolutely NO REASON for him not to have a few hundred of them just as a hedge/kicks.

Then again he'd have sold so long ago...

What a jackass he is.

M. Saylor move...wow, but they are SENIOR notes and HIGH YIELD (aka "junk") at 6.125% interest.
6.125% interest on 500mil is 30.625 mil yearly interest. MSTR has only 81 mil EBITDA.
Basically, it is an "all in" kind of move.
Senior bondholders are in a pole position to get everything the company holds in a hypothetical case of a company going bankrupt...for example by not being able to service it's debts.

Next earnings report will be not good:
"The Tysons Corner, Virginia-based company said in a filing Monday that it’s taking a roughly $284.5 million charge during its next earnings report due to losses related to fluctuations in the price of the digital asset. That amounts to more than the company’s cumulative earnings since 2011."

Hopefully, WS would treat it as one-off.
This is potentially dangerous for the long term company survival, UNLESS he has some ace up his sleeve, and maybe he has, at least i hope so.

It worries me too.

I think his ACE is simple "Number Go up".

I hope for his sake as well as ours he's right.  I imagine his balls touch the water when he sits...
