1961  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase New FUD on: August 09, 2021, 12:37:12 PM
How the hell was MtGox fud?
Where is the uncertainty and doubt that thousands lost millions there?

The FUD about Bitcoin dying, I thought this was what we are talking about,,, everytime something big and bad happens,,, people spread FUD about Bitcoin. There is no doubt about silk road, about MtGox about China ban. All these are true facts.

But they all spread FUD about Bitcoin = dead.
1962  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullish News!!! on: August 09, 2021, 09:47:45 AM
Now I get the idea why we're seeing a huge pump today. Yeah, the news was literally bullish and it had reflected already to the market. More adoption means that there's going to be a higher demand.

People are too quick to forget that there's a supply limit of bitcoin and that's why if there's adoption that's going to keep coming for bitcoin, we're really going to see it skyrocket more soon.

I think it had nothing to do with it though. This is just the 3rd weekend in a row that pumping prices came,,, and Monday a bit of a dump, so this is the socalled cycles of attempts before the new ATH is ready:)

Of course,,, I do not mind a bit of good news but we have to accept nothing can change this move forward. Not good news, not bad news. Here we go!

For those who wanted to know how much this athletes are getting from their government for winning the gold medals?

For example Hidilyn Diaz will received $600,000 and then 2 houses and free flight for lifetime.

But other nations are getting way more incentives than that.

Personally I think all of this is well deserved,,, but I remember reading in the past that especially for USSR athletes and Chinese athletes, other than the medals and the glory and honor etc they got nothing. And even in the old days in Asia athletes who did so well were famous, but the most they got after that was a coaching position with the government.

Good to see sports get the recognition it deserves:)
1964  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbet.io - Main sponsor of Southampton FC on: August 09, 2021, 05:54:23 AM
Basketball is my domain, I have been watching it for well over 20 years, and I still fail many times in a year, maybe I may not be making a profit each year neither, only sometimes. So there is no worry about gambling in basketball, it is widely known and watched more than most other sports, like there are people who gamble on tennis very commonly, but tennis is not viewed nearly enough (usually top games do, but basketball is a whole year long season whereas tennis is different tournaments and only few games gets the most attention) but I get it.

In this case, USA is widely known as the favorites and it makes sense, they are USA, and they are very good, and they only had one loss this entire tournament... to France. I think they will probably want to get revenge and get the gold, I am not saying they will win, but that is what is "expected" from them, that is all we know, you just caught up to every single person who loves basketball and know the same thing as we do.

Hope you got the basketball promo right then! It is fairly popular also even in Asia I think,,, especially in the Philippines because of the US influence there from before but we have really gone down in terms of international performance. Football is still the one that takes us all home, mainly I guess because most places at maximum have a field of grass, and anyone can "make" a football:)

Agree that Leicester win does not mean anything. City wants the best start possible and they just used the game as a test. I did not recognize many players,,, while Leicester played a full squad.

Hope my new Spurs team can win the first match, I like we have the chance to prove it on Day 1 of EPL in less than a week!
1966  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase starts accepting AppleGoogle pay to buy crypto-Start of global trnsfrs? on: August 07, 2021, 08:46:38 AM
Instant 100k cashouts sounds pretty big crazy to my ears doesn't it? I mean Binance got in trouble for 2 btc withdrawal limit a day (which is what 65k? I thought Coinbase was regulated and all that.

You can send people Googlepay credit, IIRC, so it definitely is like a nice way to get crypto without getting traced. except at Coinbase of course.

This is the thing about these companies. We are all led to believe that there are rules and regulations that must be followed by all in the name of AML KYC licensing and what not,,, but the truth that people do not say is that it is a big mafia of close friends shaking hands behind the doors and deciding who can do stuff and who cannot do stuff.
1967  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Another day for forex Traders on: August 06, 2021, 04:07:29 PM
Every first Friday happens to be a special day for traders who shuffle between crypto trading and forex trading. And those who trade the forex patiently wait for this day. Many trade once a month specifically on this day with the news gotten from NFP released from the US.

How ready are you the market analyst because it's another day to move with the spikes and earn massively a good day to recover the losses you have had on your trades, a day to makeup for the bad trades and a day to build back your account.

Let's gather here and catch the fun while we patiently wait for 8:30am EST. Let the pips buy the bear today.

Strange for me to only hear about this for the first time actually:) I mean, I have been active before in both circles but the most I knew was stablecoin traders or even derivatives ones for who Friday was a really good time to try and scalp.

Nice to see pip traders in crypto actually, the OG scalpers;)
1968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: August 06, 2021, 02:44:53 PM
Do you think that the people in the sub-continent aren't so fit that they can compete in the international competition ? Also, even if there is potential in the under developed country, it needs to be backed up by the government. If government does not support these sports, then no one will try to make a career in them because there will be no money in it.

Unfortunately, the most popular sports here in our country which is cricket is not included in the Olympics and hence its another drawback for us.

Under development is not precise,,, but underdevelopment of interest and training capacities for sure. I think the problems are deeper than we can see. In these countries, the emphasis is always not to do sports because you cannot earn well and you cannot retire. There is no prestige unless like you say,,, you play a game like cricket, which is not even in Olympics. That again is yet another matter as the cricket governing bodies from India and Pakistan as I understand do not want to endanger the sport's financial interests by putting it into Olympics.
1969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Xiomi Portugal start accepting crypto on: August 06, 2021, 12:15:51 PM
I have heard a lot of good things about Portugal from a couple of my foreign colleagues who are now thinking to move there to continue freelancing. They said the conditions for freelancing + earning in crypto is very warm in Portugal, with low tax requirements and low employment requirements,,, plus no problems with reporting income earnings in crypto. I feel like this could be the reason for the move from Xiaomi.
1970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 06, 2021, 10:35:17 AM
Lukaku has been the big surprise for me in these two days. Grealish to City was expected but Lukaku one is a bit difficult pill to swallow. Lukaku and inter both confirmed when Serie A ended that they wanted to keep the striker and Lukaku also didn't wanted to leave Inter but now Lukaku wants to join Chelsea out of sudden  Shocked . Guess money really rings the bell. I however would have expected them to go for other strikers maybe in 40-50m mark again and save the rest for Haaland in future.

I am a Spurs fan so there is other news that will always occupy my thoughts,,, but yes, Lukaku after his huge revival in Serie A should really have stayed but as soon as their coach got moved on right after winning the league, then I think we have all been expecting the moves to kick off from Inter.

I have a feeling he is going to regret it but maybe he feels he can lead the striker force, so strong when all the others are so weak.

Now i want to know from you guys is this type of Fud will gain a negative effect in peoples mind about bitcoin? Please share your opinion.

This FUD is pointed towards Coinbase, not towards Bitcoin. The fact that some crypto company has problems and/or committed some kind of fraud doesn't mean that Bitcoin is a scam, fraud, ponzi scheme, bla bla...

Unfortunately not everyone will understand how this works. The Binance FUD that has been happening this whole past weeks is also really affecting people's faith in Bitcoin although nothing of the two are at all connected. Very strange right?

MtGOX fud before was understandable as most people were using it for their BTC but today with so many options, this is just news of one company, not anything to do with the network.
1972  Economy / Speculation / Re: At last at last, bitcoin increase more than $41,000 on: August 06, 2021, 07:47:53 AM
Good bounce from an old negative trend, the only small worrying sign is that it did go slightly lower in this move then the last recent low.   It could be nothing I'm not quite sure yet, it has exceeded the weekly average now and would appear to be targeting the 200 day average for a final destination to this particular move.   After that we will resolve on a larger time frame I guess.

Also I think positive to see is that the 40k mark is not as difficult to hold as before, though the fact also it has not held over 24 hours in this current one will make the bears think they can keep tearing down the price hold. I think very important today is how US people will react when the market opens and that will determine the Monday sentiment on where to go from here.
1973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 on: August 06, 2021, 05:59:52 AM
I see that today the difference between China and the United States has reduced to 5 gold medals. In silver and bronze medals, the United States is undeniably in the lead. I think that it will be very difficult for China to keep the first place, in the last couple of days their pace has decreased significantly.

US has not been performing to expectations but still a lot more days to the tournament. I think for some reason a lot of countries are motivated to beat China,,, or at least this is what I can tell from a lot of posts on social media I am sure you have seen also. I mean I get it China is not popular these days but nothing to do with the athletes.

4 more medals to catch up but China also can win more.

I didn't watch any of the matches from this two teams and team USA is a big favorite, but last two H2H France came out as a winner, not sure if they can repeat that again in finals.

I wish people would stop celebrating every time we reach this type of psychological milestone Smiley Because see here again we have to now fight before Friday/weekend to get back above $40k,,, which I am sure will happen but every time there is too much optimistic speculators the price seems to weaken;)

By the way,,, OP your username means something very nasty in a language I know a little bit of. Is this not against forum rules?

1979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 05, 2021, 03:28:07 PM
I honestly didn't see this coming to be honest. I knew that there was a bit of a gossip about players moving around but Premier league feels like spent more than all the other big leagues total, hell maybe they spent more as one league versus all the other leagues combined? I really do not know but it was insane to see this. There are still a lot of big names left on the board as well with Lukaku, maybe haaland? maybe kane? I do not know what's going to happen but it is already a huge deal so it is really shocking to see that.

I really want see a whole lot of changes too, like there could be maybe at least 250+ million pounds worth of transfers on top of the current ones, that is just insane. That is over half a billion dollars in just one off-season. What we can do right now is just wait, but I still think Haaland is a better transfer than Lukaku, that is the only thing left for me, who will Chelsea get?

But we should all have seen it coming:) If you remember even last season already during Covid times when the economic tightness was first felt,,, already EPL was the only league spending a lot of money, remember the big Chelsea buys? While other clubs in other leagues were already even considering cutting down staff and players and reducing salaries,,, even asking players to voluntary take paycuts.

England is just too much when it comes to money and financial compensation, blame the TV rights:)
1980  Economy / Economics / Re: Some inspiration in the future of Bitcoin from the history of paper money on: August 05, 2021, 01:07:11 PM

That basic interest is stronger than just pure monetary power, collectively,,, this is why Zimbabwe and Venezuela have not abandoned their currencies despite it practically being useless:)

These countries or other countries that have had their Fiat devalued to the extent it is looked as worthless would not abandon their currency because of the role that money plays in the system. If you Google that information about the role of money, you are likely to get these:
Unit of account, medium of exchange and store of value

That means the Zimbabwe currency or that of Venezuela has those functions still. Most importantly, they are used for exchange and whichever that will replace it has to play that role effectively and I don't think bitcoin or cryptocurrency has taken that spot yet in such less developed countries that are still considered high in the level of illiteracy.

I have to also add from my view that Fiat is a unifying model for the econony and identity , where government runs on digital currency at most, it still will not take the place of Fiat/paper money.

I did say it was about identity, which is to me the most important, you can Google all the information you want, but I met many zimbabweans students from our local universities who only bring out their currency to give as souvenirs to people (because it is printed in millions and billions) and laugh about it. They tell us that Zimbabweans only use US dollars. If they accept local currency they will ask for 10x 20x what the actual price is and nobody wants to carry a backpack of dollar bills to pay for coffee. They have those functions but only because the government says it does but on the streets everybody pays with US dollar.

I was not talking about them using Bitcoin to replace it, I was talking about most fiat currencies being held on to by states because of national identity not so much monetary power.
