1981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: August 05, 2021, 11:47:19 AM
This rule is to make sure that the main players don't miss on their club matches very often. With the women's teams, it is not necessary to apply this rule, as their club schedule is not very hectic. FIFA doesn't gain any profit from the football tournament at the Olympics. However, they have allowed it in order to spread the popularity of football and to increase the funding from various government agencies. The same approach has been taken by sports bodies such as FIH, FIBA.etc. However ICC (governing body of cricket) has taken a different approach and they have refused to include cricket in the Olympics. ICC has stated that they are not interested in spreading the game and inclusion in Olympics may cause monetary losses for them.

I do not think it is so much about women's schedule being hectic or not. In men's team,,, the academies and youth structures are already well developed, but this is not the same for women's. So if you do not have the senior women playing the squads are technically very weak. They will need time and many years to get to a better quality but until then, we will see very "old" women playing in football for Olympics as they are still able to bring skill and experience.

Incredibly, China already has an advance of 7 gold medals (32 medals) compared to the USA with only 25.
You can say that the US has more medals in total. But who likes to be first in second place?
Honestly, I think there were few bets that at this stage of the Olympic games, the US would not have first place in the gold medals.

I personally thought bookmaker odds were wrong to put china more than 4 or 5x. China gets stronger every competition and population wise they just have more people to choose from and talents to get born. I think it also helped a lot that Russia was not allowed to play (ROC is not as huge a contingent if Russia itself was allowed to play).

Well done to them, minus politics:)
1983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know any game theory tucked inside Bitcoin? on: August 05, 2021, 07:01:19 AM
In the game of the crypto world, participants will definitely choose the option that maximizes their own interests, which is determined by the rules of the game. When the collective benefit is maximized, so will the individual benefit. Therefore, everyone tends to maintain the stability of the entire network, rather than destroy the network.

Very interesting to read your posts more and more RainbowKun, I put some merit to show appreciation. I wish I have the wits and means of writing to explain some of these thoughts, in our local circles we do discuss a lot and it is similar I guess to a form of game theory where the simplest equation is that "if everybody plays nice everybody wins something" but "if just one person does not, then everybody loses a bit".

And this works a lot like during toilet paper time, when there was enough but just a few greedy people made it so most people did not have enough,,, thankfully Bitcoin is far too decentralized for that type of angle to work out and collective benefit is still significantly big even though not everybody plays nice.

Lukaku long story will come to an end finally? Inter and him denied leaving the club several times but at the end such amount of money will attract everyone. Now I believe Inter will be in trouble finding suitable substitutes.. Of course no need to mention how much spending will be add in EPL with the signing of Lukaku and Grelish Wink

Everything at clubs like Inter will be a long story,,, I think clubs now have no choice because of financial rules, either you play by the book or you cannot even start your talents and still have to pay their salaries. Lukaku publicly said he is staying with new coach but yes,,, even he knows he has to accept the financial situation and go if somewhere else can pay him when he is still at peak.

Grealish supposed to be 100 million phuff,,,
1985  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo Olympics > prediction > contest > Games and rounds? on: August 05, 2021, 05:41:16 AM
I think this is a game worth trying, who knows luck is on your side on the final day of the Olympics in Tokyo this time, good luck.

I try almost every free game from Sportsbet in the forums, and have won a few of them. Not small prizes either, smallest is 1 mbtc which is about $40 here. Most memorable for me from this kind of promo is when I turned 3mbtc freebet into around 9 mbtc cash just by playing this guessing game on no risk:)

Otherwise,,, very bad picks for me at Olympics so far:)
1986  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbet.io - Main sponsor of Southampton FC on: August 05, 2021, 05:04:31 AM
Spurs at their peak when they did finals would be in finals again, as long as Spurs is good, as long as any team is good they will have that chance to go to champions league finals anyway, and if they suck then instead of getting scored 4-5 goals at champions league, they will do like hardcore fighting at conference league, which makes things a lot better for the viewers as well since we will see more games between close level teams.

I agree in this way, that Conference League is not going to be as boring as people think it is because there will be some quality players and quality teams at some stage. I mean if you see midtable teams in England Spain Germany Italy France sometimes they have very good matches and high quality,,, just not enough to compete at the top consistently.

Spurs need to achieve at least one title. It would be a milestone for them and will help them to build up their history as well as maintain strength of their squad.

Yes indeed. See what this did for Leicester City in terms of confidence and history building:)
1987  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase New FUD on: August 05, 2021, 04:24:47 AM
It's only breaking because they paid media to publish this,,, I bet you every exchange before has had many multiple class action lawsuits against them from various places. But most are badly done they get thrown away or not even the media attention:)

This could be interesting but I always feel investors with losses on trading have no say.
1988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 04, 2021, 01:35:44 PM
^  Daniel Levy is a ruthless negotiator.  He’ll squeeze all the value he can for the Spurs before calling it a deal.  Remember the Gareth Bale transfer negotiations?  Levy got the price higher and higher til Bale became the most expensive football player in the world.  Rofl.  More expensive than Ronaldo.  Cheesy

Yes,,, normally something a club supporter should be proud of but since none of that money returns to the team in terms of replacement, we are always left holding some bags of sub quality player. I see Kane is protesting but he should resume training,,, so we are again stuck. Either we get unhappy star next season or we sell him for a lot and buy a few who may or may not be good. Tough times to be Spurs supporter.
1989  Economy / Economics / Re: Some inspiration in the future of Bitcoin from the history of paper money on: August 04, 2021, 01:04:28 PM
Yes, more and more groups are choosing to embrace Bitcoin and abandon fiat currency. This is determined by everyone's basic interests.

I do not know about abandoning fiat though,,, but them moving on to different fiat for sure. The thing about national currency is the whole idea of country/state and identity and all of those things that make 200+ countries feel like they are unique in this world.

That basic interest is stronger than just pure monetary power, collectively,,, this is why Zimbabwe and Venezuela have not abandoned their currencies despite it practically being useless:)
1990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: August 04, 2021, 11:35:38 AM
Well apparently a great example has given us the Olympic athlete Simone Biles, after her return and obtained a Bronze medal, which, is like an Olympic Gold for her, she managed to overcome her fear, she returned with everything, it is very good what made.

I looked for news about this because I actually was totally unaware of what had happened. Very happy for her,,, and at the same time sad that media and fans are having so much impact on sportspeople. Remember Osaka pulled out also before the Olympics because of the same media pressure/stress?

The funny thing is not everybody supports them. I read Djokovic was telling them they have to learn to control themselves on and off court, but of course he got knocked out the very next match and threw a tantrum:)
1991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 on: August 04, 2021, 08:37:18 AM
Similar incidents have happened several times in Olympics. This time it is something special, because the medals were shared between two friends. After the ceremony Tamberi mentioned Barshim as his friend since 2010. In an world championship meet both became friends. Few years back Tamberi had attended the wedding of Barshim. Now both has shared the medal shows the value of friendship and true sportsmanship.

A so now I know,,, so actually they were friends now the video makes complete sense! I mean, the Qatari guy was smiling so long and looking at his friend long before the Italian jumped on him and hugged him.

I do not know about you guys but all this kinds of stories really make me love sports so much, regardless of the sports. I have to say it is a pity sportsmanship is not seen a lot in soccer.
1992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The principle of entropy reduction in Bitcoin mining on: August 04, 2021, 08:06:44 AM
Actually,,, there is an interesting crypto project which I simply cannot recall the name now, which was using blockchain as a means to ensure entropy reduction, but more like a time lapse for the tokens. Like using block height to determine "age" of the token attributes, and other factors to make sure if the token is not "maintained" by the user it becomes older and breaks down. To encourage "active" use. Super interesting if Bitcoin does this for mining:)
1993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 04, 2021, 06:45:11 AM
That's is weird, but superbru weren't the only ones who scored the euro games that way.  I got bit on a bet due to that scoring method, learned my lesson the hard way.  Once you're expecting it it's not such a big deal, but like you said, it's not an issue for the EPL.
I don't know any bookie that did that on ML, there was some that offered lines for results after extra time, and many offered lines for going trough ie. final result after penalties.

Just shows how important it is to at least skim trough TOC when starting to use new bookie. I know several bookies that take forfeits in tennis after match started as regular result. Screwed me few times but then I got back at them in the early rounds of grand slams where you can use such scoring in your favor since there is always a couple of players ranked form 50-100 that just come to take first round check even if they are unfit to actually play. Good money for just showing up, almost 70k$ in Wimbledon this year even after covid forced prize reductions and you can collect even if you play just one game (about 5 minutes on the pitch with warm up) in main draw.

I never heard of a bookie who scores like that also. Always if you take 1x2 it is full time result. I did not know tennis forfeits were common just to get paid,,, seems like they should stamp out behavior like that.

The Sportsbet specials for Olympics and EURO also gave me a lesson about Full Time and Extra Time results,,, for example if you see, most of the Specials have "90 mins" or "inc.ET" which was the most important thing to know when picking one of the 21 Specials,,, most people including myself thought it was a good bet on 21 goals scored in the post-group stage, but 30 minutes extra of added time per game made it a bad bet:)
1994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo Olympics > prediction > contest > Games and rounds? on: August 04, 2021, 06:11:29 AM
Sportsbet has a big Japan fan base so you can see a lot of specials daily on bets to take (yesterday was Japan to win and BTTS which was a big 7x payout). And some other sites if you go to chat a lot of "mini games" which is always event related, like Bitvest, so you just have to keep loyal;)

My experience the downside with Olympics betting is that most gamblers don't have enough information to rely on unlike the EURO where there's sufficient information as some countries clash on other tournaments like the nations league and it only becomes worth it if there's a good promo like free bet insurance or refund on certain participants.

True. Even if you know your country reps, you cannot know the reps of the other countries as they don't report on it internationally plus these meets are once every four years sometimes with complete unknowns.

The most awesome ever, thank you Sportsbet;)

We’ll also announce a new season-long competition with lots of prizes to be won and the broadcast will conclude with a live commentary for the Community Shield where Leicester City and Manchester City battle it out for the first trophy of the season.

I've noticed a few new posts made by Sportsbet in the Club Talk section earlier today, and the above caught my attention.  Do you guys have any idea what that season-long competition might be? I'd guess some sort of fantasy league or survivor pool perhaps, idk really curious to know more about this...hmm, interesting!?

I should come in to check Club chat more regularly,,, just that it gets a bit difficult to keep track when there are so many people:)

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Sportsbet sponsored Premier League pool? I already paid and participating prize pot is going to be super huge with 0.1 BTC already provided to us by Sportsbet!

Clarification,,, conclude with community shield? They mean start right?Smiley
1996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] World Mobile - Connect billions of people in Africa and beyond on: August 03, 2021, 04:38:32 PM
Hey OP thank you for responding thoroughly to my earlier discussion,,, I still am not fully convinced that the problems I talked about were really addressed but I appreciate a lot that you took the time. I mean,,, I was talking about Africa where we do not have Wifi not to mention even 3g in most places, GPRS itself is a challenge.

And rewarding financially people for being part of the network is NOT unique, has been tried since 2016 with ICOs doing the same thing but they did NOT succeed so clearly the model itself is not going to attract people.

Anyway, I wish you luck and will still follow. Want to see concrete evidence of mesh network being used for once. Good news with Fulham, too!
1997  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 03, 2021, 11:01:52 AM
What is so great about Rashford that you are so worried about him? Ashford loses the team competition at his club and only the head coach, who sees all the preparation of the team, decides who to put on matches and who to leave in reserve. I myself am worried about the player's career, but in any case, everything should be shown by the player's own game and the team's results. Some people say that Manchester United need a new coach, but I do not agree with this opinion. The club has made good purchases in the face of new players and now we need to see how the head coach will be able to transform the team's game. Manchester United, with its history, is already used to titles led by the great Ferguson, so we will see how it turns out in the new season.

I am not worried about him,,, I just like him as a player and he has a really tough time getting booed at EURO despite all that he has done. He may not be "great" but as a local lad who also grew up hungry he fought to keep the food banks in his part of England. Anyway moot point we get what we will get.

And he is Rashford not Ashford:)
1998  Economy / Economics / Re: Some inspiration in the future of Bitcoin from the history of paper money on: August 03, 2021, 09:56:49 AM
Before Bitcoin appeared, we seldom doubt the reasonability of currency.
As a matter of fact, wealthy entities did that, hence they kept their funds "locked" in gold, art, properties, ... name it.

Wealthy entities and even banks do that,,, exactly. Fiat, although a creation of banking states, was very weak in the structural foundation and although always known, it was publicly exposed globally in the last big bank crisis. Fiat cannot be sustainable and last two years, if you pay attention, banks are buying back all customers gold and even forcing them to give them up,,, at best returning "certs" which is like fiat backed with a promise of gold.

When they realize Bitcoin is a better way to lock up money, they will start buying big!
1999  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: August 03, 2021, 09:25:14 AM
Disappointment for 1.4 billion people, as the Indian men's hockey team lost to Belgium in the semi-finals. There was a lot of hype in the media and even one movie star jumped in to the fray claiming that the team is performing so well because he acted in a film as a hockey coach a few years ago. Anyway, there is still one more opportunity to get a medal, if they win the bronze medal match (scheduled for 5th August). Meanwhile the women's team will be taking on Argentina in the semi-finals tomorrow.

I do not know how to react to all this news in India I read about cricket and hockey,,, you have film stars who were athletes, and politicians who were athletes, and everybody claiming to be expert here and there but then they go and compete against some inferior team supposedly,,, and end up losing.

Good luck to you too,,, with Covid you must be looking for some relief here.
2000  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbet.io - Main sponsor of Southampton FC on: August 03, 2021, 07:56:28 AM
I will insert the meme here of someone who is being talked about but quietly looks away hehe.

Spurs plays in Conference league, our prize last season for finishing in our very bad spot,,, and I kind of agree in general with all that is being said but I think it is also unfair to say nobody wants to waste time. For most teams now in there it is their chance of their fans for first time to really enjoy a big campaign in Europe. I disagree it is bad football also I mean I have seen even bad football at Champions League:)
The reason why you have seen bad football in champions league is that very low level teams (like spurs lol) end up playing teams that are good (okay just joking about spurs), which means that do you really think that we should have a group stage filled with teams that either will shock the world or just suck so bad that they will end up with zero points?

Let them play in europa and have less teams on champions league so that it is directly very competitive, one or two groups less in champions league would make it very competitive and only the greats will be there that season, plus the problem usually caused by some teams overachieving in league and participating in champions league but during the off season sell their good players when they are at peak worth and now they are bad again but already in the cup.

Oh no do not worry about making jokes about Spurs, we are the best at doing that to ourselves. You know you are a joke team when you do not have your fans making fun of other teams because well we have nothing to show off and brag about (yet).

But you are actually right about Champions League bad football, and this is what I mean. Can you imagine 2 seasons past we were in final of UCL and now we barely qualified for Conference League? Funny,,,
