21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PAPER WALLET: FISHING VICTIM (sic)..... on: February 21, 2020, 04:12:35 PM
Much Wow! Better bring in those talked about super quantum computers quickly for the sake of recovering these 6,000 bitcoins Cheesy This must be the second case of confirmed lost bitcoins. Most likely both ending up in a dumpster. Who would think anyone would actually hide his private keys in a fishing rod?

22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 0.28 bitcoin to be in the 1% of richest bitcoin holder on: February 21, 2020, 03:57:21 PM
earning this 0.28, in my opinion, will be difficult for most of the users.
Earning is probably the easier part. I think this BTC0.28 is achievable in one year or two for an average investor assuming bitcoin remains around $10K. The problem is that most of us are too impatient to sell or too weak to hodl.

If bitcoin surges, those figure will quickly change. Owning BTC0.28 would probably land you to 0.5% of richest bitcoin holder.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Decent signature campaigns? on: February 21, 2020, 01:09:16 PM
I only know of gold stable coin. Goodluck finding another that's not an ICO or IEO.

I don’t understand how people manage to reserve the places in these signature campaigns where they will get pay in bitcoin and there are a limited number of participants. either these people never sleep or they are just close friends of the bounty managers.
It's not like that  Cheesy
From experience, new btc paying campaigns usually opens for at least 24 hours to allow more applicants and that's plenty of time to submit if you are active in the forum. Campaign managers would then check post quality of all applicants and select from there. So it's not who submitted first but it's who is the better poster.

24  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: BOUNTY CAMPAIGN on: February 21, 2020, 12:53:10 PM

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Need help] What should be done when the transaction fails due to "Out of Gas"? on: February 20, 2020, 03:37:15 PM
A good way to avoid having this 'out of gas' error is to always check the allowable gas at a particular time or the 'safe low'. You can see it on sites like https://www.ethgasstation.info I usually add one or two more gwei to the safe low in case the gas fee suddenly increases while I'm trying to send. Sometimes I would just follow the standard for faster tx confirmation.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to easily keep track of ETH wallets/transactions/tokens on: February 20, 2020, 03:23:22 PM
I know mobile wallets like IMtoken can instantly notify you of incoming and outgoing transactions but it's been a while since I last used it. I am not sure if the new version of IMtoken still does this. If etherscan will notify you through email, I think it's more practical to use mobile wallets instead but that's if you're okay with the level of their security.

How to Quote a Post in Bitcointalk  Posts. Can Anyone Explain in Detail?

step 1 click quote

step 2 enter message below or next to
Code:
[/quote]

That's the basic of it. Be careful not to overdo it and join the pyramid quotes club or the quote the entire OP club. Only quote the important points that you want to reply to.

29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US DOJ Calls Bitcoin Mixing ‘a Crime’ in Arrest of Software Developer on: February 20, 2020, 02:02:45 PM
First was some people calling mixers a tool used by hackers, illegal gamblers, and money launderers.
Second is having articles like in the OP that using it is a crime.
Third will probably launching an investigation then arresting people behind these services.

"This indictment underscores that seeking to obscure virtual currency transactions in this way is a crime"
So if done the other way like coinjoin like you mentioned and using privacy coins like monero, it won't be a crime. That's how I understood it.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 the year of Bitcoin technology getting accepted by governments on: February 20, 2020, 01:31:49 PM
Why will it happen this year? Only few of the governments are interested in blockchain.
What is few to you?
If you are not aware yet, even governments from the so-called third world countries are already studying or testing the technology behind bitcoin. That should suggest that the interest in applying the tech is constantly spreading.

And Bitcoin has controversial reputation among most of politicians.
Many politicians around the world probably don't even know what bitcoin is and how it works. It's mostly people from the traditional financial institutions that has issues with it.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] How diversified are you in Altcoins in Q1 2020? on: February 20, 2020, 01:18:39 PM
I can't even remember the last time I bought an altcoin. I don't want to check right now because I know that it's still in deep waters  Cheesy
I don't plan on adding more to what I already have. Everything is still riding on bitcoin's back so I don't see any sense in buying other cryptos at the moment. I'm seeing plenty of good looking altcoins with cheap prices and some of them are about to make a move according to some TA's but all analysis on these altcoins will go straight to the garbage every time bitcoin's price goes down.

32  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [Updated Feb-13] Pilipinas - sMerit Distribution Summary on: February 19, 2020, 04:44:39 PM
What's this thread about?
It's just counting the merits that's been circulating in our local board. OP can explain better what this thread is all about but IIRC, it was created para makatulong kung kakailanganin pa ba ng ibang merit source dito other than cabalism. Maraming usapan dati about merits lacking here.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Fake freewallet mails, Beware on: February 19, 2020, 04:35:36 PM
Hi Balladtony77,

Following the breach of data of 1.4 millions GITHUB users, many service providers chose to warn their customers of any suspicious logins to their accounts.

These notifications are solely to inform you about login attempts whereas no actual login to your account takes place.

We recommend you to change passwords to your email box immediately.

LOL so it appears that the emails are actually coming from the real freewallet team?

@OP can you confirm that the screenshot in your post is the email sent to your friend?
I would be amazed if that's sent to you  Cheesy
How on earth would they know your email if you haven't created one there.

Guys, aside from the emails, you should also be careful using fake wallets like freewallet. They are like a centralized exchange that freezes user's funds anytime they suspect you are doing something suspicious in their eyes. They won't release it until the user had undergone account verification.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: the speed of the blockchains on: February 19, 2020, 04:16:34 PM
This thread is getting interesting. So far, only temtum joined the discussion. Waiting for others to come so keep going...

I used to think a TPS faster than visa or mastercard is necessary if ever crypto will be adopted but realized that it's not the case anymore. There is no need for crypto to exist if that's what will make it adopted. Like some have already said, blockchains with high TPS are centralized somewhere so why would people bother to switch? I mean these traditional payment system with centralized platforms can make their TPS faster at anytime too.
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] How to find domain name registrar on: February 19, 2020, 02:45:38 PM
I usually use this tool to check the registration date of a website. This will come in handy for newbies who are in doubt of a certain project's legitimacy since most of the scam project sites that are being posted here were created recently.

Good idea to create a third installment of the scam busting guides.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IS UTRUST A SCAM, THEY BAN EVERYBODY IN THEIR TELEGRAM FOR NOTHING on: February 19, 2020, 01:05:34 PM
Other than banning people for whatever reason and giving typical replies, do you have any other reason to believe that it's a scam? If you have, then you can edit your post to include those evidences and move this topic to the scam accusation board. But if you don't have any, then you should probably just move on to another project. Although majority of altcoin projects are weak, it's still unfair to call them scams based mainly on what you have stated.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So much for this "Defi" hype, BTC is on the only Decentralized Finance on: February 19, 2020, 12:39:16 PM
Wait a second. If someone can pause it, why is it part of defi? That sounds ironic to me. I would appreciate if someone could explain to me how is it decentralized.

for me BTC is the only Decentralized Finance that is very much secure.
It's definitely the most secure protocol and it has been proven time and time again. I think only supporters of bitcoin wannabes will say otherwise.
38  Other / Meta / Re: Gangs of BitcoinTalk :) on: February 18, 2020, 04:13:29 PM
I didn't know there are different factions now. I thought there was only one known gang until today. It should be interesting to see how the turf war develops in the future. You may also want to add the known alts gang. It looks like you have a beef with their leader so there's probably a bounty on your head right now  Cheesy
39  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / [Poll] Saang topics ka marunong? on: February 18, 2020, 03:58:20 PM
