541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: September 30, 2019, 03:39:51 AM
As I remember, It was the 2012 NBA finals where they poorly executed from coaching staff down to the players. I dont know what actually happened during that time but Lebron was averaging his lowest in the playoffs I guess.
It was 2011 Finals (Mavs def. Heat).

Wade was still taking the lead but when he was hurt, Lebron could not fill in his shoes at the time. Their newly formed team was exposed by the Mavs whose core team remain largely intact and they have been firing on all cylinders. I also remember what the Mavs coach saying the two teams have different playing style, the Heat playing in the air and the Mavs playing on the ground. The game wan won on the ground.
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Errol Spence Jr. Vs Manny Pacquiao on: September 30, 2019, 03:24:36 AM
He is simply selling himself out and that's what we are seeing in most fighters now. They want to cash in while they are at "peak" or fighting in top condition.

Pacman didn't look to be slowing down in his last performance against Thurman, so I doubt he'll be much different if he gets it on within Spence in the next 12 months or so.
Oh Manny has slowed down. You can just look at his earlier fights and you will know. He has become a better thinker as he aged and he pace himself so that he won't tire out easily. The Thurman fight is a perfect example of that.

LA LAKERS could  be the team to beat this year

Lakers players, coaches, management believe pieces are in place for NBA title run
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2019/09/27/lakers-media-day-2019-lebron-james-anthony-davis-rob-pelinka/3793500002/
Let the LA hype continue. I'm pretty sure many will enjoy once the season starts and this current team's performance turns out to be average. I cannot wait to see fingers being pointed again with all the blame games.
544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Important Is It To Create An Announcement Thread For New Startup? on: September 28, 2019, 03:41:29 AM
I'm fairly new to Bitcointalk. I was wondering how crucial is it to create an ANN Thread for a new startup on here?

Is there a large Bitcointalk community that engages with the new startups who make ANN Threads?

I'm currently managing a bounty campaign for a new startup on here, and I was wondering if the ANN Thread would give the startup more exposure?
I don't know about large but there are people who are interested in looking at Announcement Threads. It's not mandatory but since you decided to launch a bounty campaign here, you might as well create an Announcement thread. There are also a few people who scrutinizes new start ups and check them for whitepaper plagiarism or fake team members. If you pass that one, then I guess it's a good start.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will the listing of CARDANO to binance help the price? on: September 28, 2019, 03:29:59 AM
There will always be people who will FOMO on this listing and there will be bag holders who will cash in on them. A sudden pump most likely happen followed by an inevitable dump. Will it be good for long term? I guess so but it still depends on how traders in US will accept the new Binance US. A lot of volume comes from that country so it's a good sign for ADA.
546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Believe That It's A Fix on: September 28, 2019, 03:18:40 AM
I would stick to my first pick. Maybe the stranger already placed his bet on the favorite and wants to improve his chances of winning more money by encouraging others to bet on the other side. I'm curious to what happened to the fight, who won?
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bakkt disappointment on: September 27, 2019, 07:10:31 AM
Wasn't it the bakkt news back early this year that caused the rally from $3K to more than $12K? That's I'm getting from other people's feedback. I guess you can call what happened here as "selling the news". When people like you are expecting are holding and expecting for a pump, experienced traders are getting to ready to capitalize and dump.
548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: September 27, 2019, 06:55:56 AM
1. LA Clippers
2. LA Lakers
3. Golden State Warriors
4. Philadelphia 76ers
5. Milwaukee Bucks
6. Utah Jazz
7. Houston Rockets

I have no real problems with the other six. Remove the Jazz and replace them with the Nuggets. What the heck is the writer of the article thinking when he said the Nuggets were overachievers last season? I like Donovan Mitchel and Mike Conley but the guys from Denver are still superior as a team.

It's quite strange to see the Spurs not getting picked as a contender.
549  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Discussion on Philippine crypto wallets/apps on: September 27, 2019, 06:41:16 AM

550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Philippine Basketball Association Discussion on: September 27, 2019, 06:27:49 AM
I think this one is reliable, so we can celebrate early.
There is nothing to celebrate yet. The PBA Commissioner was kind enough that he granted Calvin to practice upon his request because he is getting out of shape. It's no where near an approal that he will be allowed to play again. Maybe in the next conference  Cheesy

I'm quoting this from another article posted earlier https://tv5.espn.com/basketball/pba/story/_/id/27703991/abueva-returns-practice-phoenix
Quote
Though PBA commissioner Willie Marcial approved Abueva's request to return to practice, Abueva doesn't expect to return to the court any time soon.

Quote
He told me, 'Commissioner, I'm gaining weight. Maybe you could allow me.' I said sure, he can practice but he can't play in any tune-ups or anything. Just practice. Get in condition," Marcial said. "But him being allowed to practice doesn't mean he's allowed to come back. This is still going to be a long discussion.

551  Other / Meta / Re: And the yobit.net campaign is back on: September 27, 2019, 05:45:54 AM
Pretty dumb for Yobit to use their name to promote another forum and try compete with bitcointalk. They could simply set up a fresh account to manage the campaign. Or are they doing this to prove something to the bitcointalk community since they've lost their reputation here from the many scam accusations or issues pumps and dumps?

It definitely is not nor will it be in any competition with bitcointalk, it'll probably just die off after some time,
The problem with this new forums is that they end up with mostly bounty hunters.
It's stated in the Cryptoforum terms that they'll only pay for quality posts and I will not be surprised if hunters won't get paid then leave.
552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Philippine Basketball Association Discussion on: September 27, 2019, 03:57:56 AM
Accidentally reads this article. Thoughts about Calvin abueva “the beast” for he’s suspension? I remember that I asked here if Abueva would be allowed to play in PBA.
He totally deserves the indefinite suspension imo. A heavy penalty for the "revenge" on Jones would have been enough if only he did not took it too far with the dancing. It wasn't also the first time he was involved with incidents on the court and that definitely pushed the hands of PBA management.

553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: September 27, 2019, 03:35:57 AM
For years, some NBA players lied about their height. They can’t anymore.
What's the implication of this lying about how tall they are? I have never heard of any past and current NBA players getting fined for not disclosing their true height. Besides, I think the teams they are playing against are already familiar with their actual height.

This is actually the funniest part of the article:
Quote
I came over with a passport,” Hield, who is from the Bahamas, told NBC Sports Bay Area. “My passport has 1992 on it. My driver’s license has 1992 on it. I just think people got their information from Wikipedia or wherever, and they just went with it. They just got it wrong.
554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019-20 EuroLeague Basketball on: September 27, 2019, 03:22:15 AM
I was hoping for some "action" but its funny how obvious it becomes once more when people are posting just for the sake of getting paid...  Shocked Some serious conversation that makes sense would be appreciated guys!  Wink
This is what you get when the league's popularity is a distant second. It's true that there are many people are interested in basketball but that's mainly because of FIBA and NBA's popularity. You really can't expect a serious or on point discussions when readers have little idea about the teams involved in this Euroleague. A preview of what's about to come might help spark an interest and you, as the one trying to introduce this league to many of us, should also aim to educate rather than making fun of the replies.
555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Emotions; while betting, will you risk losing your fund to back your club? on: September 27, 2019, 03:06:29 AM
This is the feeling when your team is one of the smallest club in a league and you are emotionally invested in them. With regards to betting, it's a case to case basis I guess. If the odds are that good, putting a small bet on your team as the heavy underdog would not be that bad.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is this still possible today? on: September 26, 2019, 05:46:34 PM
There is a possibility that some new coins will have that kind of growth in maybe 5 years or more but the chances of that happening is probably less than 1% since only a small percentage of new altcoins can survive in today's market. The altcoin hype period is over and we are moving into a market that demands real product that can be used in real life. As we know, not a lot of projects have that.
557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning to all newbies concerning wallets on: September 26, 2019, 05:25:04 PM
Right timing for this topic to be bumped. So there's this another wallet (Satowallet) suspected for exit scam. Fund withdrawal has been a struggle for users since April and developers have been coming up with multiple excuses such as "technical issues". Find more at https://medium.com/altcoin-magazine/altcoin-news-nigerian-crypto-wallet-is-suspected-of-exit-scam-d328f97270dc

If one is not currently using a specific wallet but just keeping it at the exchange, should it be refreshed?
Don't use exchange wallets as storage please. If you have some funds, buy a hardware wallet and store your assets there instead. If you don't have, there are still so many free mobile and web crypto wallets that are non-custodial. Meaning, no one else can control your funds except you. But be careful because there are also fake online wallets out there.
558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I can explain this crash... on: September 25, 2019, 12:09:52 PM
Dumping on the day of bakkt launching sounds like a poor decision to me if they did quit on mining. Unless they plan to buy back of course and that would make sense.

It's easy guys, what we are watching right now is what happens when a big mining farm quits.
Has this been done before?

Hello Altcoin Magazine,

It's nice to see platform or publication that covers altcoins. May I ask if you have a calendar of events that's about to happen? Please give us a link if there is one.

it would be good to have a preview of your articles in this posts, not just heading and link
preview shall address all relevant topics from the article, so that people could decide is it interesting for them to read it completely or not
I second this. It would also be good if you can respond to replies in your thread and not act like a bot by simply posting links to your blogs.
