21  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: freebitco.in - is it even worth it? on: January 02, 2024, 08:26:27 PM
It is not and FUN token is worthless. Its price is going to lala land. Turned into a worhless and cheating site.

FUN token is risky but if there is more players on the website, the price could go up I guess.

The website has been here a long time and have a good reputation.

It's gambling with low regulation, not for everyone.

The "earn btc" function is very interesting : 4,08%/year on the balance, paid every day.

So far, it looks like the BTC price has been stuck around $44k. If we look at the chart, we can see that the BTC price has been consolidating in the range of $43,3k - $44,2k since December 20, which means that the BTC price is likely to go above $45k soon. But at the same time, if we look at the current number of bets on freebitcoin, it seems that many users expect the BTC price to stay in the range of $40k - $45k after all. I mean, there is still a little doubt that BTC will be able to get above $45k before December 31.
Bitcoin price didn’t cross the 45k mark in the December month, and I have lost my bet there. The outcome odds was pretty good for that range. However, the price has reached above $45k today. I'm expecting to see the price above $50k at the end of this month. I can't find out the Bitcoin price betting option of this month in the betting page of Freebitco. Even the cryptocurrency betting option isn't available on the filter. Is there anything wrong?

Tab Betting but the bets of crypto prices are not available yet.

I think we'll reach 50K$ by March.

29  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The best countries tax wise for Bitcoin on: January 01, 2024, 09:38:16 PM
I know someone from Grand Cayman who is living that tax free lifestyle, thats the way to go! Makes me want to move over to the carribbean! It would certainly be an adventure living in any of these countries wouldn't it! I for one would love to visit all of them, I only wish that the US was this way!

Yeah but what you gain thanks to the lack of taxes, you will lose it because of the cost of living, nope?

Island life is not for everyone and there is not always much to do I heard.

Some tax free countries have bad tax treaties so dividends can get taxed up to 90% from the country of origin of the company. For example if you have shares of a French company and you live in the Bahamas, France taxes 90% of the dividends you get from the company before it reaches you even if you are not a France tax resident.
30  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX is now solvent thanks to SOLANA on: January 01, 2024, 09:36:05 PM

In any case, it would have been good for CZ and Justin Sun to have combined their efforts in saving FTX just for the SOL held in FTX's treasury. It will be something similar to when a bigger bank takes over a smaller bank with a good portfolio of real estate assets used as collateral from nonperforming loans hehehe.
CZ tried to displace FTX because of its rapid growth and that it had become a competitor to him. He may have obtained information in one way or another about the financial situation of the platform, and then he decided to take advantage of that and deliver the final punch that brought down FTX. However, despite that, what happened was good to alert investors to stay away from leaving their money on exhanges.

I do not think that cryptocurrency platforms are similar to banks, as banks want long, sustainable growth, unlike cryptocurrency platforms, which are looking for hot money and quick profits.

I disagree. Sam and FTX was going down even if CZ did not dump the FTT from their treasury or not. Also, CZ would be happy in FTX's growth because Binance was a shareholder in the exchange. The decisions made by CZ were business decisions, none of them were personal.

Also, if Sam ran the exchange very well, there is nothing CZ can do to bankrupt the exchange. What he would be doing is hold on to FTT and the shares on FTX to see his investment grow hehe.

Sam was over leveraged and used customers funds.

CZ did what he thought was best for him and Binance.

They can probably sell all the locked fund at a 30% discount right away or just wait it out, collecting the coupons and getting the funds unlocked every month which is what they chose to do so far.

They should liquidate all of the SOLANA and use it to pay the customers they robbed when they went down.

They might do this. According to bankruptcy laws, a company should liquidate all assets and settle all payables which I assume is where customer deposits are designated.

Would certainly have been better for Sam Bankman-Fried, he is 31 y old and the jury pronounced hom guilty on all seven counts on Nov 2 2023

A second trial, on five charges including bank fraud and bribery, is scheduled for early March 2024, it may not happen.

So now, the question of prison time goes to Judge Kaplan. The sentencing date is March 28 at 9:30 a.m. ET.

He can get 100 years but I'm betting on 25-30 years.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox trustee and return of funds on: December 29, 2023, 02:47:42 AM
MTGox will never be able to rehabilitate itself. People will never believe them again.

That's right, if I'm not mistaken Mt Gox, Started Compensating User Funds Starting This Year and Creditors started receiving notifications via email from Mt. Gox's only problem is that the tables are personalized as a result of which most investors and traders are increasingly hesitant to use exchanges with a bad reputation, and choose platforms with a more positive track record.

Only a few creditors will be paid, those who accept and are paid in advance, but only about ~20% of the amount, the rest will still be held.

According to the schedule, MT Gox will pay in installments, and they commit not to sell large quantities that affect the price, so it is unlikely that they will sell several billion USD of Bitcoin at the same time and have many followers MT Gox wallet tracking.

The compensation price for BTC will be calculated according to the level when it was confiscated by the Japanese Government, at ~$5342/BTC, not the current price.

137K BTC  Shocked

$ 5,854,133,739 at current market value

Initially set for the end of this October.

Deadline extension to Oct. 31, 2024.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 29, 2023, 02:41:43 AM
One big downward move to clean the overextended bulls then a nice move up 3000$ at a time to 55k$.
34  Economy / Exchanges / FTX is now solvent thanks to SOLANA on: December 25, 2023, 06:35:04 PM
15.3 million SOL unlocked
40.5 million SOL locked until 2028 with a monthly released schedule

6,8 B$ at the current market rate.

They can sell the unlock funds + they get their coupon from the stacked locked SOL every few days.

@ 7,5%/y it would be 31 m$ / month in interest!

They can probably sell all the locked fund at a 30% discount right away or just wait it out, collecting the coupons and getting the funds unlocked every month which is what they chose to do so far.

I made a deposit but never got credited in my balance on the website. Can anyone help me with this please? I have sent a personal message to TheQuin about this but it seems he/she has not been online for a couple of days now...
None of us (except TheQuin) will be able to help you if there are internal issues with your account. However, Bitcoin network is busy since last few weeks. Bitcoin deposit requires at least 1 network confirmation to be credited on the account. Has your transaction received any confirmation yet?

Yes, the transaction is long confirmed but the bitcoins were never added to my balance.

Did you finally got it? How long did it take?

38  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If there is a war between the US and Europe, Bitcoin will hit $1 billion on: December 21, 2023, 06:38:46 PM

Without war, bitcoin remain an asset of value.

Precisely bitcoin doesn't need war to be a dominant currency, it's a valued decentralized digital currency, so with time it'll take it's rightful place at the top. The adoption is increasing everyday, individuals, corporate organizations and countries are accepting it because it's a valued asset.

I think perhaps what  the OP meant was if there is financial instability in Europe and America, bitcoin will hit $1billion, it shouldn't be because of war, because no reasonable person will want bitcoin to dominate because of war. Bitcoin and fiat can coexist, no need for one to extinct so the other will dominate.

Less than 30 years old consider Bitcoin as a valuable alternative asset so as they get richer, they'll pour money into bitcoin.

The rate of increase of btc is about 900BTC per day and decreases in half every 210,000 blocks so every about 4 years, next time is in 2024. Some of the 900BTC is saved.
For example, if half is sold and the price is 100k$, it's 45m$ of liquidity needed per day so 16,4B$ a year.
Global GDP is 100 trillions $ so 16,4B$ is 0,016% of the current global GDP.

If things are good and regulators are not fighting bitcoin too much, some of the wealth created goes into btc and people having btc don't sell.

If things are bad AND they print a lot of currency, the nominal price of btc will rise but it may not buy more stuff because we'all be poorer as a result of money being spent on war and destruction. It will only partially protect you to be in btc or gold.
