I sell oranges down by the freeway and I shudder to think what life would be like if I took out loans to get a liberal arts degree.

You would sell oranges but you will have 50,000$ of student debt and you will have party, meet rich folks for a few years and learn a few things about Art that you can learn online : https://www.edx.org/school/harvardx

1/It goes up and down even when there is no human activity, all the models and everything that has been said about rising CO2 levels caused by human activity and the predictions of consequences have been proven wrong

2/If it has go up tremendously last 200years, nothing bad happened and we are safe

3/CO2 is not bad, it is great for plants

4/We have seen CO2 levels that big

Hard to say which way bitcoin will go.

Remember, during the last crisis, even gold and oil went down quite a bit.

Gold has been going up during the years leading to the house crisis, what was a bit surprising to some was to see the USD going up as well

What do you mean by the USD going up - the USD index, i.e. dollar going up against other major currencies?

Yes

So, as long as USDX is not going down, treasuries are ok (i.e. the debt can keep on growing) as well as the U.S. economy, right?
Hypothetically. This could mean everyone is killing their currency faster than the USA.

However, countries with the exchange rate being lowered are now at an advantage. As they export goods, they can pay their employees more, and 80% of the time the purchasing power of the currency stays the same, unless something REALLY goes to crap.

If they start paying their employees more, that would cause inflation, and the purchasing power of the currency will not stay the same, especially if this process takes on (future expectations on inflation would invariably kick in).

If your currency is depreciating, you may export more nominally but what about in value?
If your currency is depreciating, the inputs you use to produce your product are going to increase in price (nominally) so you will have to increase your price
Your employees are going to need increased wages since the prices are going to go up in the country, if they don't, the fact that the currency depreciated is bad for the employees thus for most people

The decentralised version of JD, Chancecoin , has got major attention today and gained >200%!

check out: chancecoin.com

This topic is becoming a discussion about Bitcoin casino for the nostalgics of JD Wink

Chancecoin got my interest a few months ago but didn't bought any; how far is it from the ATH?

Let me subscribe to this topic.
I don't see any interesting campaign for Juniors right now, but who knows...

There are many campaigns for Jr at the moment, don't know if they are all full but you can still ask to be added when a seat opens up; you are not going to be paid a lot to advertise with a Jr account but being paid at all is already very nice!

The market is totally oblivious to the reality in the Gold Market and the reality is coming to come back bite every stupid investor in the $$$: rise use of other means of international exchange than USD, QE will come back bigger, interests rates at 0, less percentage workers compared to the population in the US and worse jobs, ect.

As I said, Physical proof.

Those things can be manipulated. Take Genesis as an example - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=768281.140
Their CEO invited Gavin Anderson to their mining operation, to validate what they doing. Total transparency from this company, gives physical proof, that they mining, what they posting on websites.

If you have proof, that PBmining are doing the same, feel free to post it here, and I will strike through everything I posted on here about them.

To me, PBmining is a Ponzi and no different than Tradefocus or any other HYIP / Ponzi doing the rounds.

We just choose to look the other way, when a company exist for a long time.

I have been long con'ed with Ponzi's before, and they lasted more than 2 to 3 years and yes, I still play with it, because I know the risk involved.

Is this ethical? Most certainly not, but it's in no more ethical than using PBmining and saying that it good.
It's nonsense to call PBmining a HYIP when it's not a high yielding investment at all, it's a slow return until you possibly hit break even. It's not promising 3.5% daily on your investment like the other scams do.

It's a low yield high risk investment program then? Grin

PB Mining (Thread)
Payment period: Monthly.
Minimum posts: min 50 post/monthly.
Payments: Member /Sr. member/ Hero : 0.1BTC per month.
Miscellaneous: it is  forbidden to use a referral link!  That is a separate promotion.  You cannot collect the 10% bonus through this campaign!

But it is very strange .

And the PBMining signature campaign is full already now. Smiley

******************************************CLOSED**********************
**********We have reached the maximum number of participants needed for the time being.  Thank you********************

At first they planned to pay the same for Junior and Hero Members which is far stretched; they could have find as many numbers of participants by only accepting Senior and Hero and their website would have been better advertised

a twice or three times more CO2 concentration that what we have will not threaten humanity at all since we have seen way higher levels of CO2 in the past, just a few hundreds thousands year ago
Um, no. At least not in the last 800000 years.

Maybe he was "just stupid" maybe he was "panic selling" or maybe the guy took some mushrooms and felt like selling?  or maybe overlord Xenu ordered him to sell...Maybe a unicorn rogered him until he sold
Maybe the Bitcoins became self aware and sold themselves.

That he was just stupid and decided to make a stupid sell move I do not buy personally.

Let's face it. The bulls have made a bullish story about it, the bears have made a bearish story about it. The most interesting thing will be the trend over the next fortnight Wink

He could have to sell to buy back cheaper, who knows; the price recovered and we didn't see the lows expected by bears who were wrong again!

Bloomberg - S&P 500 Companies Spend Almost All Profits on Buybacks

http://bloom.bg/1uPbtDG

A way to fool investors into thinking company is doing well and hit the management internal target for stock option.

Something like that; a correct financial operation at best; for exemple, Lehman Brothers was buying back its stocks before collapsing
613  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best bitcoin casino? on: October 06, 2014, 02:18:24 PM
Pocketdice and 777coin looks good. I use them. PrimeDice is also good but I don't play there anymore.

Pocketdice is fun and really an upcoming Bitcoin casino

It has a campaign signature at the moment on Bitcointalk

So, I just picked up some coins @ 329, tell me why I made a huge mistake...

"319 currently" because you are going to lose purchasing power.

Will tell you in a few years if it was a good move Wink Think it was

There will be a lot of Bank wires to buy on Monday
615  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 06, 2014, 03:49:51 AM
that wall belongs to FEDs.

Huh
Guys i think this makes sense, because BitStamp wouldnt dare to take FEDs coins right? I mean whos stupid enough to leave that many coins on a foreign exchange ?

And don't forget to sell on Sunday to ensure the lowest possible price!  Yes, yes, you can collect overtime for working Sunday.

There's no way this price level holds when the banks open tomorrow. If it does, I start hitting all the pawn shops and loan sharks I know. Can't imagine I'll be the only one doing it, either.

When you say "There's no way this price level holds" you mean that the price will recover; the price is not going to hold means the price is going down

How the hell am I supposed to get any sleep tonight?
This, my entertainment for the night

What kinds of odds are posters placing on the price movement - either after the wall is pulled or after the wall is eaten?

It seems most posters seem inclined to believe the price will be bullish, and for the reasons of my earlier post, I am inclined to believe it is bearish (b/c the fiat is going to be exhausted by the quantity of coins being purchased at this $300 price point - and NO current ability to add fiat to Stamp).

Could go down a bit more but there is a lot of fiat on bitstamp waiting to buy back

Thatīs a fucking big wall. 18000 BTC $5,400,000 USD. WOW! Someone itīs hurry to sell all his bitcoins or to manipulate hard the market to dump the price a lot.

Huge wall if the price goes up he will lose a lot

Mainstream media says that the temperature will go up because of human activity and that it is bad but can they really tell why it would be bad? They have no idea what will be affect (if anything) by more CO2 in the atmosphere

You get your science news from mainstream media?

Do you agree that more CO2 will be beneficial for plants and a twice or three times more CO2 concentration that what we have will not threaten humanity at all since we have seen way higher levels of CO2 in the past, just a few hundreds thousands year ago
617  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: October 04, 2014, 01:41:45 PM
It's exactly because bitcoin doesn't have intrinsic value in the traditional sense (meaning that people could use bitcoin for other functions — e.g. gold can be used in electronics and jewelry) that makes people want to circulate coins in the economy. Otherwise people would treat bitcoins like gold and horde it. The completely speculative nature of digital currencies is what will keep coins moving when we mint the last 21 millionth bitcoin. I think it's this very feature that might prevent a deflationary spiral.

Bitcoin has intrinsic value, you can use it for many functions : store of value, medium of exchange ect.

Nothing can be changed unless people stop breeding like rabbits and only consume what they need.

When a population gets richer (and consume more) they have less kids, look at Birmania
What consumption do we need? Schools, roads, hospitals, food, when you think about it there is a lot we need

The video says something interesting : maybe producing more CO2 will be good for the plants because they need CO2 to develop

When the temperatures increase the polar ice starts to melt and the sea level starts to rise, this is the real affect of global warming, if you see a show called "Vice" it shows how water levels are rising increasingly and the world around is sinking.

We are still in the Ice Age so a warming up of the temperatures is natural, probably nothing we can do about it if it's due to the Sun like the Russian scientist community think and can you tell me how many cm the seal level would rise if the global temperature is raised by 2degrees? And how many people would be affected?? Raising temperatures would be good for countries like Canada who will be able to use the northern of their country and for us humans that are made for tropical temperatures
No, you cannot predict the rise in sea level resulting from a 2 degree rise.  The reason is that to attempt it you must presume all other factors are unchanged, such as the ocean currents.   But they would not be the same.

And there really is not any such thing as a measurable "global temperature", that's a myth and an unscientific jury rigged construction.  Scientific would be to look at increases in latent heat of the ocean mass.

What you say makes a lot of sense, not like the idea that scientists  know how much the "global temperature" will rise, when, why and what will be the consequences. How would they know that? All the models that have been made have proven wrong, they make new ones every other year that invariably turn out to be wrong; you can't predict most things that have too many variables
619  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: October 04, 2014, 01:19:45 PM
the problem with gold are :

- the tax
- the bank
- the color
- the weight

the problem with bitcoin are :

- ... ?

Nothing, i can spend in the 5 minutes, the amount of money that i want and nothing can stop me ... not my gov and not my bank.
tax to do this ?

7%

what is the tax and the spend of time to transform gold in something tangible ?  Roll Eyes

You can have Gold outside a Bank and the color has been liked, it's a shiny metal with awesome proprieties, Bitcoin is great as well but Gold can be great and if things turn sour you can exchange Gold for everything, tax free. If you live in a free country, you can exchange Gold for fiat without being tax or with a very small tax
620  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: October 04, 2014, 01:17:48 PM
I think capitalism is the root of all evil and that being said i will say socialism is the solution of poverty .

I disagree.  Socialism has NEVER been a practical solution to poverty.  In fact, it makes EVERYONE equally poor in practice.

I think Capitalism (which is a term created by Karl Marx to describe the free market), if it is to work, REQUIRES morality, and charity, and can very much be a horrible system at it's worst, however there is nothing that comes close to it at it's best.

And Socialism at it's worst is pure hell on earth.   At it's best, socialism cannot compete, and is incredibly inefficient, as well as inhumane.   Anyone who saw Stalin's USSR, or Mao's China, or Pol Pots Cambodia, or Kim Il Sung's North Korea will attest to the lack of ANY freedoms, and rule by terror.

It is ironic that the system of Socialism claims to work "in the name of the people", never seems to fulfill that promise.  In fact, Socialism's security is diametrically opposed to, and opposite of Capitalism's freedom, in a zero sum equation;  The more of one, the less of the other.   And the worlds worst atrocities have been done under socialist pogroms, upwards of 40 million innocent Soviet civilians under Stalin's purges (did you see the Russian movie I posted above The Checkist?) and upwards of 60 million Chinese in Mao's cannibalism in the Great Famine and cultural revolution.

Given the choice, I would rather live in absolute freedom, risking anarchy, than the jack boot of big government on my neck.

Socialism has been around for over 100 years now, and it has never worked.

NEVER.
Read about the 19century in europe. No socialism there, nice economic boom, pure capitalism mixed it is true with colonialism.
Marx has spotted children of 2years old working in some lace factory. I just can't imagine a kid doing anything usefull at that age. In this industry the norm was to train them at 3 and get them to work at 4. He might be the angel of hell to you but others spoke about the working condition during that period.
Under this fantastic period of history mankind actually shrink not in quantity but in size. Due to the working conditions, poeple simply shrink. Put your kid in a box for 14hours per day without a windows from 6 to 18 years old, i bet he won't pass 1m60.
This is no mass murder it is true, it is pure capitalism with no rule except the one linking he who owns the capital to human meat who doesn't. Nobody broke any law here, yet working conditions was probably comparable to soviet goulag on the scale of a country.

It is quite easy to have extreme exemples to defend ideological stance. but it is of no use.
I am not defending any socialist nor capitalist as this is just ideological shit baked by some extreme useless exemple.

People were choosing to work in factories and everyone ended up benefiting of the wealth created, leaving the market fix prices and regulating lightly doesn't mean you have no rules, you just have good ones
