I am not only holding my btc, but also mine them using cloud mining, and I started buying more since the price is very low. I believe that the price will sky rocket once bitcoin get international recognition and more people start using it. This will take time, maybe 10 years, but it will happen and when it does we (the first investors) will be the richest people.  Wink

Are you mining with CEX.IO or...? I'm currently investing into cex and have about 10ghs, slowly but surely and I'm planing on investing more, price is low atm.

I think the prices will keep going down and down.
I decided to sell all of my mining contract with cloud mining, because it's not profit anymore and I've got ROI so I think this is the right time.

Not a good time to make a living out of bitcoin mining ATM.
I predict the price will keep crashing to a lowest 100US dollars each in a few months time.

It could go down more before it recovers but 100$ is very unlikely amha, it is more likely it will be at 520$+ in 3months than 120$ and even more likely 620$ than 160$

"For anyone complaining about the current price of bitcoin, remember it has more than doubled over the last 12 months."

~Bitcoin Jesus
Oct 5th.
But still you cant ignore the fact that once it was more than 1k.

Yes but you can't ignore the price has been very high this year relative to the average price in 2013

Peter Schiff is oblivious to the potential of Bitcoin and start-ups while he is totally correct on the FED that will likely inflate the USD to death to save the face of the government she is in bed with before raising interest rates

487  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: November 01, 2014, 05:30:26 PM
Now that the bullish scenario is looking unlikely, I reviewed the bearish one, and it could be more advanced than I thought.
Here is my current most probable scenario, with a bottom between 150$ and 200$, depending on how many whales will panic.

Being bearish at the moment is reasonable if you look at charts and trend lines but the fundamentals are great, the USD will crash soon and there is a Bitcoin fan libertarian that makes a lot of money everyday, he will likely invest a portion of it in Bitcoin

Hundreds of thousands of Dollars for most, millions for some except a handful that is sitting on 10m$ or more; it is something but we are not there yet; when the price will be a few thousands Dollars in 2015 it will be great, the sentiment will be very positive again and we will get massive exposure

What makes you think bitcoin will be a few thousand next year? I think many people said it would be at that this year.

A lot thought it would go to a few thousands Dollars this year and it didn't but next year or possibly the year after, the market will understand the FED is not going to decrease the 4.5trillions FED balance sheet and raise interest rates because if it did the market would collapse and the government would have trouble financing its obligations so the FED will launch QE4 and we will have massive inflation before they raise the rates; the economical environnement in the West will be very toxic, fiat will be discredited to investors that are not invested in BTC but not too far away from the Bitcoin phenomena and the price of Bitcoin will soar to a few thousands Dollars, Gold will rise up in price as well

Coinpiler has increased its rates
S& Above 0.12 BTC, F 0.06 BTC, M 0.05 BTC, J 0.02 BTC/month
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=746016.0

There seems to be something fishy going on here, they increased the rate to get more people joining their sig campaign after many participants taking off because they refused to put the fund in escrow... hmm..

It is not a given that they will pay but it is still probable that they will and they request a very low number of posts to get (hopefully!) 0.12; it's a form a gamble; they seem professional, responsive and they innovators
491  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: October 31, 2014, 03:55:38 PM
Why is it said that BTC will certainly cause deflation? Wouldn't it depend on the velocity of money (in this case BTC) which would define whether deflation really occurs or it is still inflation?

It will appreciate in value which is the same as prices of most goods measured in BTC will fall.

That is deflation in prices, but that is of no special concern for the economy. There could also be deflation in produced volumes, which is the same as lower standard of living. (we don't want that).
Last point there could be deflation in the money volume. That is not the case yet for bitcoin, later, lost coins will mean deflation in money volume. For the time being, bitcoin is not much used compared to other money types, and as long as that is the case, bitcoin money volume will not mean much to the economy.

Deflation in money volume due to lost coins, and lower prices due to expanding population (as experienced in the gold era), and increased productivity (hopefully forever), together, means continually lower prices and continually higher standard of living.

Politicians love words that have no defined meaning, because it is easier to say something without saying anything.

Deflation is good for the consumer and means higher standard of living, a market economy will push prices lower which means you enjoy more things for the same price but a deflation happens in terms of crisis as well due to the lack of Demand, it is giving a break to the consumer thus is good and is a symptom of the Depression, fighting against lower prices will not end the crisis, it will weaken Demand ever more and lower standard of livings

No telling what PRCDice.com will end up linking to in the future  Roll Eyes

prcdice shows almost a 1000BTC won by investors (less commissions) but all could go away, it is a very risky investment
493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Official Bitcoin Price Prediction for Dec 31, 2014 on: October 30, 2014, 02:30:31 PM
Wow. The ratio of bulls to bears used to be much higher. Interesting poll. Should keep it alive for year end.

As we get closer to December 31 the price is going down so it is getting unlikely than we will finish close to 1000$ or higher but it is still possible

We may start in 2014 the rise up to a few thousands Dollars a coin that will happen (hopefully) in 2015
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: October 30, 2014, 02:23:58 PM
Wow, I was just going through some of the first posts in this thread. I wish I would have known about Bitcoin back in 2011. I've been a big fan of Bitcoin ever since I first found out about it. I would have been accumulating them left and right if they were that cheap!

Today's price might appear to be a steal in a few years time.  Smiley

The potential is tens of thousands of Dollars a coin in a few years if things go right; even if the probability that things go right happens is less than 1% it may profitable to invest in Bitcoin

It makes me think of venture capitalists which bet on tens or even hundreds of start-ups that each have less than 5% chance of making it but when they do they can cash in big

At least venture capitalists invest in multiple start ups and don't face ruin when a particular company closes. I have seen people go all-in on bitcoin here. They could be very rich soon, or face bankruptcy.  Grin

Yep, very sad situation.

We helped create a bunch of rich geeky twats. That should count for something

Hundreds of thousands of Dollars for most, millions for some except a handful that is sitting on 10m$ or more; it is something but we are not there yet; when the price will be a few thousands Dollars in 2015 it will be great, the sentiment will be very positive again and we will get massive exposure
495  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: October 30, 2014, 02:19:34 PM
I prefer gold.

Bitcoin price is unstable so it must be risky if I hold it.

Gold price will keep rising overtime and never decrease

Gold price can decrease like any price Shocked; it decreased in 2013

It is 1300$/oz now and it used to be 1900$ in 2011

On one hand, Gold has been a store of value and mean of exchange for thousands of year and is likely to keep being one; on the other hand Bitcoin has a huge potential; hold both!
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: October 29, 2014, 11:30:01 PM
It makes me think of venture capitalists which bet on tens or even hundreds of start-ups that each have less than 5% chance of making it but when they do they can cash in big

In the industry, they are known as "vulture capitalists" - a bitter joke on their propensity to liquidate the assets of a startup if its odds of dominating its market drop lower than they like, and also on their propensity to run the companies sort of like crash-test dummies; you either dominate the market, or you get liquidated.  There is no room in their universe for a company that remains viable and makes fairly reliable small profits.

The risk profile is very different for the vulture capitalists, who have maybe one percent of their assets invested in a company, and the company founders/employees, who are typically "all in."  The vulture capitalist is going for the market-domination windfall, but the people on the ground would really be much better served by remaining viable and making fairly reliable profits.  So there is a certain disconnect between the business decisions that each would prefer to be made.

The funders chose to get the venture capitalists cash to grow and often also get their expertise : they had an idea and build a customer base and now they get hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions of dollars to hire, pay themselves a salary and get a chance to make it; it is a pretty good deal that they can chose not to take which would be very stupid
497  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: October 29, 2014, 11:25:41 PM
Back to the gold topic.

There is a referendum in Switzerland, in November, which is likely to secure a yes vote that the SNB holds 20% of its assets in gold (currently at 7.6%). As soon as this passes the bank will have five years to reach the 20% target. There is no legal escape for it. Considering that the SNB balance sheet has recently blown out Fed/BoE/BoJ-style - it will have to buy up to 1,700 tons of gold in the open market - and take delivery!

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-28/things-make-you-go-hmmm-swiss-gold-status-quo-showdown

I really think this will put a floor under the current gold price, and maybe even spark another medium-term rally.

Switzerland is one of the closest countries to a real democracy and this referendum could be a game changer for Gold; the market understanding that the FED can't raise interest rates, stop QE and unwind without creating a (much needed) crisis will crash the USD and benefit Gold

http://www.contrepoints.org/2014/10/25/185805-pourquoi-devaluer-est-une-mauvaise-idee
