201  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 07, 2018, 04:19:47 PM
nowhere in the fw or its description i read anything about overt asic boost. The firmware doesnt boost anything. The firmware is called "lpm", wich i translate into "low power mode". It doesnt do low power when not connected to an asic boost supported pool.... So yes, my question was if this firmware only supports low power when connected to an asic boost optimised pool.

No weird question i think?  Wink

You must be confused, because bitmain has called it ASICboost firmware from its release.

You would have to ask the pool, but I highly doubt they will help
203  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 06, 2018, 04:14:40 PM
Only thing I disagree with is "Years of extortion prices and abuse". It's called Free Market and BM just charged what the market would bear. No one held a gun to peoples heads to make them buy their miners so there is nothing wrong with that at all. If you have a problem with BM then don't buy their miners. I stopped buying Ants and moved to Avalons when BM tried to force BitCH on us and have never looked back.

If BM and other miner makers charged rock-bottom prices from day-1 and in turn sold even more miners can you imagine where diff would be today?

Quoted for truth. Bitmain has always priced their miners based off ROI, as has Canaan and others.

Appreciate the info.
Whats the best way to read all the outgoing packets to ensure it's only sent to the selected pool?

Just use Wireshark and watch all of the traffic coming out of the machine

So you want over $17k USD for a domain that cost you  $10 to register....just because it has bitcoin in the name? Pretty sure anyone can mash random words together with bitcoin and register them without paying your insane fee
206  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 31, 2018, 04:02:19 PM
do you think rebooting that often a day would shorten the life of your s9?

Do you think that restarting your computer shortens its lifespan?

This is an odd question.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good bye Antminer Z9(equihash ASICS) on: October 31, 2018, 03:31:04 PM
I really love how entitled GPU miners tend to be. You think that YOU are the one that made the coins relevant but thats total bullshit. You saw it was one of the most profitable, you hopped on the bandwagon to make a buck (not to support the specific project) and then start crying when you dont like the profits, like the devs owe you something. You get paid for mining, they dont owe you shit, get over yourselves.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer Z9 mini overclocked on: October 30, 2018, 08:37:29 PM
i have got the same problem with my batch 3 mini.
Once i install an other firmware the temperature sensors dont seem to work and the fans always spin on 100%.

Does anyone have the same problem and does anyone have a solution?

Thx!

What exactly is the problem? The fan running at 100% means the miner will be cooler and last longer, thats a good thing not a bad thing.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where to find new good altcoins to mine with GTX GPU on: October 30, 2018, 08:31:35 PM
Maybe mine a coin thats worth some money and not random garbage altcoins?

whattomine.com can help you out

MLM is just a nicer word for ponzi scheme

curl doesnt work properly but as Tim says netcat will work
212  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 Rotate / Quota option on: October 29, 2018, 04:33:59 PM
There is no way to split the hash rate on the miner itself, this feature was very problematic and that is why it is no longer available. If you only have one miner you will barely be registering profits anyway, splitting it will make it that much harder to get decent payouts.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: H110 pro BTC+ help on: October 26, 2018, 10:54:58 PM
If you are using overdriveNtool it sounds like its Windows based.

When you run that many cards you really should be using linux. I have hundreds of 12 card linux rigs that are ROCK SOLID running the H110 board.

My personal and our company miners run PiMP

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=558715.0

I have uptimes approaching 250 days on these rigs!

Now for the power, the nvidia-smi command reads each card pulling ~ 141W (then x4 total should be 564 W)

Also, you know that nvidia-smi is not 100% accurate right? Its just an estimate.
215  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Miner with Dual PSU on: October 26, 2018, 06:17:13 PM
some people argue that the controller is responsible for controlling power draw for the hashboards, therefore a failure of the PSU which is connected to the controller will put those hashbaords which are connected to the other PSU at a great risk of burning/dying.

i am not aware of whether that above is technically correct as i do not have the tools nor the knowledge to monitor how is power draw done on miners. but i hope someone who knows these stuff quite well can confirm.

This is more of an issue on the s7 then the s9. The s9 will not burn up on its own but if you are in a hot enough environment and the controller loses power and the fans stop spinning heat soak is a larger concern.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stop Windows 10 Update on: October 25, 2018, 10:29:46 PM
You manage 1500 GPU Rigs and you must weekly reboot windows? you are a really bad miner. My windows10 runs faster then linux (ethos), more stable than linux, i need no reboot for over 2 month (no miner restarts or what ever).

Do the right job, then windows works fantastic. i work with windows 1703, 1803, 1809 and alle works perfect. my windows make no updates, you must find the right solution Wink

Windows Hashrate 185mh with 6x RX 570, no hardware errors
Ethos Hashrate 178mh with 6x RX 570, i must clock down the cards. with the same speed as in windows, the miner stops working after several hours.

This is my opinion and my experience, i am not a linux hater, but i canīt read this shit about windows, from people who do not work properly with windows.

I love all you keyboard warriors that talk shit with no practical experience. Im so bad I run one of the largest crypto fams in North America! Good job with your couple rigs running Windows. Im sorry you dont know enough about linux to tweak and configure it for performance, but you really shouldnt claim something is better just because you dont understand how to use the other product.

Show me your Windows miners that can do this:

217  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 25, 2018, 09:24:44 PM
The November firmware is the worst bitmain has ever released for the s9, I do not run it on my machines. non stop PIC flash errors and other weird problems. I have both the 10/22 and 10/23 fw running and I am seeing no difference. I will update again tomorrow and see what has changed.
218  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Antminer S9] How does the S9 know what hashrate to "autotune" to? on: October 25, 2018, 09:23:06 PM
There is a chip on each hashboard that identifies what it is to the controller
219  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 25, 2018, 06:09:06 PM
Now that I got my pool issue cleared up I have multiple miners running with lower consumption.

I am averaging a 200w savings on each machine and these are the hash rates after 24 hours (these are all on HP 2450w 94% efficiency server PSUs):

#1: 13.5TH s9 currently averaging 13.502 TH @ 1305w
#2: 13.5TH s9 currently averaging 13.532 TH @ 1285w
#3: 14.0TH s9 currently averaging 13.747 TH @ 1352w
#4: 13.5TH s9 currently averaging 13.715 TH @ 1298w
#5: 13.5TH s9 currently averaging 13.608 TH @ 1288w

I am going to throw the firmware on a couple more 14TH units and see if they lose any speed but so far all of my 13.5 TH units are at full speed if not a tiny bit more.
220  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T9+ not recognizing hashboards after Dollemizer flash on: October 25, 2018, 05:27:33 PM
The best insight i can give is to read an entire thread before you try a firmware known to have serious problems and an inability to be removed  Undecided

You might try reading through the whole thread to see what others have done.
