201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 3.75% of Americans ready to invest in ICO? on: March 11, 2019, 09:00:34 AM
of course you would expect such fabricated results from a website that its whole existence purpose is to advertise ICOs and live off of them! otherwise such stats would have been closer to reality 2 years ago where the ICO hype was still ongoing not like now that it is already dead and gone. nowadays people either don't know what ICOs are or if they know about them they also know how scammy they are.

The survey is not made by InitialCoinList.com but by https://lendedu.com/

Also, have you seen binance launchpad?

The ICO hype was the same as the crypto hype in general.. The current slowdown is no different than the current global cryptocurrency state..

ICO is not dead and it won't be for a while.

first of all you say LendEDU as if it is a reliable source for this type of surveys! well it is not.
secondly what you are failing to mention in your own website (the article that was published by you on Match 2019) and this topic (which is again in 2019) is that the survey result was published in October 2017 which means it was conducted right in the middle of the ICO hype in 2017! NOT 2019. that hype my friend is dead and is never coming back.
if you do the same survey today the percentage is going to be closer to 0

before all this the same hype was going on with premined shitcoins. and in the future there will be new hype like there always is, in a different form with a different type of scams. they are trying to push STOs but they are failing because they are exactly the same as ICO and people aren't going for them.
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2020 Halving on: March 11, 2019, 08:55:53 AM
You've to understand how other bitcoin and crypto work, they're very volatile currencies and their values can fluctuate at any time, usually in very extreme ways both high and low. Once again I emphasize, bitcoin's not an instance method to cultivate your wealth because the price of bitcoin cannot be controlled by yourself as you wish, except if you're a Big Whales. As an ordinary user, you should make it a habit to be patient because that's the only way to succeed and if you are still able to buy, maybe you should make a purchase!, because by making a purchase means that you've contributed to the growth in the price of bitcoin.

you are misunderstanding a bunch of stuff here.
first of all bitcoin is not the same as other altcoins so you can't talk about them as if they are the same. bitcoin's volatility is not due to manipulation, at least not all of it. but altcoins volatility is 99% because of pure manipulation.
secondly you don't need to control the price to make an investment in something! that is ridiculous assumption that you need to be a whale and control the price to invest in something...
the only thing you need to look for is real potential and if it exists then you are good to go.

204  Economy / Speculation / Re: 'Bitcoin will run up to $5,000 by May' on: March 10, 2019, 06:02:20 PM
i actually believe that price is going to be a lot higher than $5000 by May which is a little more than 2 months from now. simply because at the moment there is a big amount of investors waiting on the side lines afraid to come in and waiting for that signal to jump in. so if we break $4k resistance i am sure that there will be a shoot up at firs which can easily bring the price to $6000 which was the real strong bottom before the manipulative dump happened.

this can happen in less than a week. and it certainly wouldn't be the first time!
205  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Analysis – BTC Price Is All Set To Hit $4000 on: March 10, 2019, 05:55:20 PM
the rise is going to happen sooner or later. in fact it probably wouldn't even take that long. the only thing that is happening right now is the fear of possible drops that is making most investors wait instead of jumping on the band wagon.

and it has always been like this too. whenever we have this sort of huge drops (it was 85% drop this time) people tend to get scared. then you add all the FUD and that panic grows more preventing (or better say delaying) the rise.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A.I tech exist or not? on: March 09, 2019, 09:19:38 AM
in the past couple of years, specially during the 2017 ICO fever i have seen at least 20 different projects which claimed to be working on A.I. and advertised it a lot. but checking their projects i have never seen slightest signs of any Intelligence let alone artificial one!
in other words AI has always been used as a buzzword for advertising and hyping the project.
i don't see why any new one should be any different! specially if they are an ICO instead of a real blockchain project.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Publish0x - The next Steemit? on: March 09, 2019, 09:03:21 AM
there are two big flaws in any design that copies steemit and it will be the doom of them just like Steemit is doomed.

the first and biggest flaw is that they are rewarding people for posts and other similar activities. it only attracts crap and spam to their platform and in a short time it reduces the quality of the platform to a point where nobody ever visits it anymore apart from the spammers trying to make money.

the other problem is that it is centralized! it doesn't matter what they say, it is centralized as long as there is a centralized website with a centralized database and you have to sign up where you own an account which can be closed!!!
so as long as there is reddit, bitcointalk, twitter, facebook, medium,... and 100s of other blogs nobody is ever going to bother with these platforms!
208  Economy / Economics / Re: DYOR before joining!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: March 09, 2019, 08:49:01 AM
most of the market (meaning most of the altcoins) are already dead and they won't revive ever again. so what you have been reading is partly true you just have to see the context not read the out of context!

as for bitcoin it obviously is not the end. anybody who says otherwise is either an idiot or is trying to buy bitcoin at a cheaper price and is getting desperate.

Quote
has only reduced by about 600%

you do realize that you can not mathematically go lower than 100% right? a 100% drop means going down to nothing or zero!
209  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin mining will be based on POW+POS.. on: March 09, 2019, 08:41:15 AM
yeah Bitcoin will always be POW. Switching the type of consensus it does would be far too big a change for the user base to agree to. It would split Bitcoin and nobody wants that. Let stuff like Ethereum that is tightly controlled by its dev team with a hard forking update path do stuff like switch consensus algos. Bitcoin will stay Bitcoin. No reason for it to change. It is secure basically against any attack that could possibly happen, no reason to endanger that.

Did Ethereum finally do that big switch to PoS? I reckon it was really close. From what I've googled it isn't still active?

https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/03/08/crypto-research-claims-ethereum-pos-unsustainable-vitalik-hits-back/

I would be surprised if the fork happened in a clean fashion. I don't believe for a second that we wouldn't end up with ETH-PoW were miners keep mining, and ETH-PoS were Vitalik followers go.

In any case when ETH goes PoS we will finally see a project of relevant magnitude operating under PoS. I wouldn't like to be holding ETH by then. I seriously doubt it's safe when there's enough money in the table for the brightest hackers on earth to try to exploit it.

actually ETH dev is quite wise, he clearly knows that nobody is going for this bullshit fork to PoS and he is completely sure that everyone will reject it. so he has come up with a workaround to force the fork on them. right now they are slowly injecting different forks on the network slowly pushing towards that target to force them to have no other option but to accept PoS!!!
if you remember they started with a "difficulty bomb" which they had to remove and all their plans went down the toilet with it so now they have come up with a new plan

it actually reminds on the frog that is being boiled alive in a pot while you increase the temprature slowly so he doesn't realize it Cheesy
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fortnite, PUBG, DOTA 2, Hearthstone, Apex coming to blockchain? Mass adoption? on: March 09, 2019, 08:25:50 AM
your account seems old but you seem to be very new to this world!

all these gambling crap has been going on for as long as bitcoin existed. there has literary been thousands of gambling sites many of which focused on these e-sports such as Dota2 and CSGO,...
they don't have anything to do with mass adoption though! people don't really care about them and don't play that much. which is why most of these gambling sites don't last that long.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are you going to secure your bitcoins for your next of kins? on: March 09, 2019, 08:18:20 AM
i honestly have never thought about it!
i'll have to think of something though. probably will do it with a hardware wallet but i still can't bring myself to pay money to buy a bitcoin wallet! it sounds strange to me since i can store my coins safely in cold storage already.

maybe those estimates (from chainalysis etc) about 4 million + lost coins aren't so wrong after all! Tongue

they are wrong because they are only estimating based on whether the coins have moved or not. for example i have coins that i have not touched for nearly 4 years. they probably consider them as "lost coins"!
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Back to the Future story :-> on: March 09, 2019, 08:10:02 AM
1. First of all, it doesn't seem that bitcoin will rise that much. Most people still not willing to use it and probably will never start.

people are always skeptical about bitcoin specially when price is like this at a bottom after a long drop. back in 2015 nobody believed bitcoin could go back up to 3 digits ($1000) ever again. they were all saying "nobody is willing to use it" etc etc. and yet bitcoin keeps on growing.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I know who Satoshi Nakamoto is on: March 09, 2019, 08:03:32 AM
I've come across articles of people claiming they are Satoshi.

to be fair most of these articles are not talking about people who claim they are Satoshi, they are authors who are speculating about someone being Satoshi and there is a big difference between the two!
when we speculate, it is our guess nothing more. but when someone claims to be Satoshi they have to provide proof otherwise they are scamming.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The three alt coins i'm holding which I think will take me to the moon on: March 03, 2019, 10:19:01 AM
the only way you can get to the "moon" with an altcoin is when they get pumped and you will only be successful if you know how to get off that rocket and when to get off that rocket.
otherwise you will be like hundreds of others who bag hold some altcoin, miss their chance to sell after a pump and get dumped on to lose a lot of money.
215  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin bulls vs bears... what side are you on? on: March 03, 2019, 10:15:44 AM
Investors choose Bear market and then they become Holders.
Holders choose Bull market to sell their assets for profit.

maybe these people who you are talking about don't yet know what being bullish and bearish means!
sitting around and hoping for the market to move in a direction after you are done with it does't matter at all because you are already out of it and your thoughts don't matter.
what matters is when people are still in the market and are bullish meaning they buy more because they think price is going up or are bearish and think the opposite.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet statement again on: March 03, 2019, 10:04:45 AM
who cares about what Warren Buffet and others say about bitcoin, it should not matter even if they are positive about it. the only thing that you should care about is your own study about bitcoin and whether or not you see any potential in it. people like Warren Buffet never got rich by sharing their real secrets about how they got where they are at the time when they were investing.
217  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Sites on: March 03, 2019, 09:56:38 AM
I've made a good profit from Genesis Mining. They do pay and are a legit company, but I would not recommend it as an investment. You will not make good ROI with cloud mining. I was only profitable because I won a free contract.

if some company could afford the equipment, electricity  and other costs, had the space,... then they wouldn't have been selling the hashrate to others in small increments for peanuts. instead they would have mined themselves and enjoyed the whole profit! something has to be wrong with their plans that they have to sell it like this...
You're not guaranteed to make a profit with cryptocurrency mining. That's why they sell contracts. They take all the profits upfront and customers take the risks of financial loss associated with mining.

there are risks involved with mining but the profit is not that unlikely. in fact profitability of mining bitcoin is one thing that you can always be sure about. for example right now price is very stable and miners are gaining a solid stable revenue from their computing power.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto companies complain they’re being shunned by most banks on: March 03, 2019, 09:49:19 AM
...yet for every one of those, there are plenty of others trying to scam the public, launder money or evade taxes.”

It is not surprising that this above is one major reason that icos won't get financial support from banks.

nobody has ever supported ICOs simply because they are all scams. there is no exception between regular people or banks in this case. everyone sees the true nature of them but only few decide to ignore it because of the possibility of some profit.
219  Economy / Economics / Re: Are You The INTELLIGENT Cryptocurrency Investor? on: March 02, 2019, 10:50:42 AM
being intelligent when it comes to making an investment comes down to having a lot of experience. you might have the highest IQ in the world but as long as you don't know how the markets work you will never be able to successfully make profit from them.
the good news is that experience in investing and trading can easily be gained as long as you use your head instead of blindly following others on the internet. you just have to analyze a lot, both your trades and the market.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or XRP on: March 02, 2019, 10:25:34 AM
you are delusional if you think shitcoins such as XRP and ETH can replace bitcoin. and i am sorry to say this but you are an idiot that you think a token that is not even a currency is going to replace bitcoin which is a currency because it is like saying water is going to replace food!!! they are not even in same category so one can not replace the other.

all that aside, coins like that with huge supply and no cap have no future price-wise because the sheer amount of supply of them will kill their price whether you like it or not.
