201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 29, 2023, 12:16:33 PM
Game 7 later, baby. Miami Heat is at 3.60 to win the game, Boston Celtics is at 1.31 to win the game at home. I think I like an upset to happen, I am placing my bet for the Miami Heat. A high risk bet because they are short-handed with players being injured or cannot play the entire game due to their minute's restrictions.
But I have seen Butler woke up again in Game 6 and tried to be the leader, I wish to see that type of aggressiveness again and show that he could really put the Heat on his shoulder and win the ECF. Give your all, all lose it all. This will be an entertaining match.
202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a Gambler and a Die-Hard Fan of a Club Would you Bet Against your Club on: May 26, 2023, 02:33:36 PM
It will be wrong to be a gambler if you are using your emotions when it comes to betting. That's the path to losing more money so it should not be done.
Bet for the team with high chance to win and not because you are a fan. This is why many football fans are losing a lot of money in gambling because they do this kind of emotional bet.
I would bet against them if ever I see an opportunity for a profit but if my instincts tell me they will win even if they are underdogs then I shall take it too.
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase on the defensive about these bitcoin ordinal centralized meme coins on: May 26, 2023, 10:16:07 AM
i laugh at the big mouths that say "we need to build on layer 2 and 3" to solve congestion.. while in the same breath being happy to congest bitcoin and not solve the congestion on bitcoin

in short they are saying "abandon bitcoin, we want it to be useless, use another network instead"

the reason they say this is becasue corporations cannot claim tx fee's on bitcoin mainnet. becasue bitcoins monetary policy does not use middle men claiming fees for relaying payments between peers. only mining pools do.

they dont want the expense of starting up asic farms and creating pools to claim those bitcoin fee's so instad they want to make silly altnets and try to recruit people away from bitcoin and over to their altnets that do require middlemen(federations, factories, routers) to process transactions and grab fees for it

ofcourse they will initially have low fee's but once they recruit enough idiots they will raise the fees once enough people are locked in. and ofcourse they will want bitcoin to be super expensive so that people are afraid to unlock and leave the altnet. .. thats the business plan.. so dont fall for it

this junk data of nonsense no intrinsic value json data they want to call tokens. is not about getting rich from tokenisation. its about bloating bitcoin and causing a fee mania to sucker people into leaving bitcoin to use another network which pretends to be a better bitcoin.. but these altnets are not. they have flaws in of themselves. dont fall for it
I don't know much about these deep things of Bitcoin but upon reading your explanation, I do agree.
They are putting us back to the norm from the last decade when Bitcoin was not adopted yet. The "Middleman" dilemma. No more DIY and just let the miners do the fees but they want something blocking that transaction first and be paid for the entry fee. If the sudden increase in fees happens exaggeratedly, who knows how many Bitcoin supporters will stop using the King of all coins.
First, there's nothing wrong about Bitcoin, why fix it? It was not congested 3-4 weeks ago (iirc) until these memecoins popped out. It's so cheap that I won't even hesitate to use the fastest transaction available.

I bet there's another purpose on why he is doing it but of course he won't just shout it out to look like the devil of the crypto world.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been threaten to stop gambling on: May 25, 2023, 11:47:39 AM
Never.
I am sad for your friend if the wife does that to him but maybe it's a good thing so that next time he will tell her everything including his gambling hobby. It's not an embarrassing thing as long as you are being responsible. Use your own money, don't move the budget for home necessities, bills, and specially the savings account. Use only the spare money that you gained from either bonus from the job or a side job that you do to create profits for yourself.
It ain't good keeping it, might as well just tell her and hope she will accept it.

Michael Saylor is getting good at using words for his own good. Reading the replies in the tweet, I saw many people who agrees with him. Still, I am not dragged by his sweet words. Cheesy

https://twitter.com/TO/status/1660268453188739072?s=20
Is it really for the development of Bitcoin or he is just mere destroying it slowly?
https://cryptoslate.com/saylor-advocates-ordinals-protocol-eyes-global-bitcoin-adoption/
Quote
“We need to build applications on layer two and layer three in order to extend the functionality and the performance and the scalability of Bitcoin. So if I were to basically discourage application development, I would be making it harder to scale to 8 billion people, and I would also be destroying the Bitcoin mining network.”

Network Congestions. I felt this for the past weeks of using Bitcoin as means of my transactions and the fees was so high that I cannot accept it so what I did is just use Western Union instead to have a cheaper transaction. I don't think it was just me who experienced the same way, some may have used altcoins instead for a faster and cheaper transaction.
The question that circles my mind is if the intention of Saylor is really for the good of the network or is it just for self-interest. I pick the latter.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't gamble if you don't have patience on: May 24, 2023, 03:07:48 PM
It was a bad experience for all of us who uses cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin with our deposits in gambling sites. I didn't expect that day will happen and I thought it's going to be cheap until the next halving and after that.
But luckily, it's all going back to normal again. I just made a transaction a few hours ago and I saw a lesser transaction fee for a faster transaction. $1.80 if I was not mistaken and it was received in just 30 minutes which is not a hassle anymore. It didn't take long, I guess we should just be happy about that.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigerian Father Rejects Son's Gambling Win on: May 24, 2023, 12:01:45 PM
I wish the source is really legitimate because from the name it sounds fishy forcing, they are "Legit Breaking News". Grin Or, this could another made up story.
If it is real, then here is my opinion.
The father should think about just congratulating his son, for obvious reason that he did gamble his money and not because he robbed it from someone else. IMO, that is still clean money unless there's a religious basis that forbids money that came from gambling, like the Muslims.
If I am the father, I'd just be happy with my son and tell him to spend it wisely for his future needs.
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wife discovers husband's hidden Bitcoin during divorce proceeding on: May 23, 2023, 05:12:22 PM
I wish my wife will never learn about cryptocurrencies. JK. But I do sense she is reading something about it although she never asked me about it yet. I always say: "You have your gold accessories, I have my cryptoccurencies." Whatever happens to us, it will go to the kids. Never ever that we argue about our possession, and I don't think we will be on the point of divorce like on the example or for whatever reason to be on court.
For the rich people who love jumping from one woman to another, this must be done.  Grin
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 23, 2023, 03:56:26 AM
It's a sweep! I thought this was going to overtime but Gordon had other plans hehe. He also redeemd himself with that block after missing crucial free throws.

What do you think of LA's final play? I was thinking the coach should give it to AD to tie the game during the last timeout.
Yes! From the looks of it, my Denver Nuggets might really win the championship. They are super strong with Nikola Jokic around and Murray, the roleplayers like Gordon, MPJ, KCP, and Bruce Brown are also doing great. Embiid may have taken the season MVP but Jokic might get two MVP's if ever they win the championship.
The Lakers changed their rotation by inserting Tristan Thompson but it's still not enough to win. They should've made that decision sooner and gave him the opportunity to defend Jokic. Lakers will probably stick with what they have now because they are actually creating a good chemistry.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Casinos Should Do Survey From Time To Time To Assess You. on: May 21, 2023, 02:30:19 PM
No, I would not like that. They are just there to ease the access on gambling so that we should not be going all the way to our favorite casinos or physical sports bookies just to enter our bets. This kind of assessment should only be individual and must be done by ourselves. Assess yourself if you are still gambling healthy or you are out of control. Ask whoever is near you, family, relatives, and friends if you are still under control about your gambling routine.

This ain't the job of the gambling site anymore. They are not our parents to tell us what is right or wrong. They only thing they could do is offer their service and hope we are comfortable enough to do it at home.
211  Economy / Economics / Re: Are we headed to a nowhere economic direction ? on: May 19, 2023, 03:11:31 PM

In my country over the past few months, the interest rates have been declining. Our government aims to stimulate the economy through a set of financial policies but there seems to be less effective than before. Under the backdrop of the global economic recession, no government will be able to outperform others easily. The dilemma we are facing now is that we are actually losing whether to spend the few money we have at hands or to save it in banks for less and less interest. Real estate is collapsing and even the rich people have no options to invest.

Personally I have invested in cryptocurrencies but due to the current market, there is no sign that I will profit any time soon, so I guess the result of the investment remains unknown. Although I still have steady income from my job, uncertainties will not diminish as I hope for a stable feed for my family and for savings as much as possible. What is your situation in your country ? Are you going to experience some economic turmoil as well ? Please let me know.
Yeah, almost the same. But if I have money I will still invest in real estate, it's an investment that never spoil and here in our place you could just let people rent it out and help you pay less for your monthly mortgage.
Don't look for a quick rich investment in cryptocurrencies, most of the time it ends in doom. Just buy Bitcoin and store it for a year or two. If an opportunity arrives then sell it if you like too but do not expect too much in a rush and the same goes with any other investments.
You have a job, keep it, make money, don't spoil your kids, and buy what is only necessary. I know the lifestyle of the people today and they easily get jealous in just a Facebook post from a friend who went to fine dining place. Cook at your home, it's safer and cheaper.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 19, 2023, 02:02:44 PM
Anyway, the Lakers are obviously in trouble. Those next 2 games at home are do or die already. Lose 1 game and it's as good as over.
Not a Lakers fan but Denver definitely deserves a shot at a title this year. They have, in my eyes, the best player in the league, and a lot of other talent. No matter if they meet Boston or Miami, they would be the favourite to win in my eyes.

The same in my eyes, in my opinion it should be Nikola Jokic who should get that 3rd consecutive season MVP, but the media doesn't like the idea, so they voted for Embiid instead. Not that I disagree with it by I think the Joker has more value when it comes to overall stats and even not on paper. If Jokic will get the Conference MVP and Finals MVP, then it might be acceptable.
7th triple-double in the postseason. 29th in this season. 118th in his career. He is a monster and very soon he will be above Magic Johnson at 138.
If the Lakers will not answer back at their home, they are definitely in big trouble. Just one game being stolen from them will mean the end of their postseason, so I agree it's almost like a do or die for them. If I am correct, this is also the first time the Lakers lost in 2 consecutive in the playoffs.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase on the defensive about these bitcoin ordinal centralized meme coins on: May 19, 2023, 10:17:39 AM
They are forcing it and I don't think that's a good sign. The questions of a big "why?" comes out. IMO, they will just play with its market and make profits in like a quick rich scheme. Coinbase probably knows what will happen and trying to avoid it. It will be chaos.
We've known memecoins are just short-term investments and the victims will always be those who will try to love them and keep it. Thankfully, I have not been on that position yet, I always sell this type of coins like a week or two, just imagine if whales will be the one doing it in the comfort of using Coinbase as their exchange. It gives me chills on how much money will come out for a joke.
And then when it's done, what's next? TETE, KEKE, JEJE? Grin
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wrong Predictions as price keep failing! on: May 18, 2023, 03:12:16 PM
It's a prediction, don't get serious about it. It's not like we really know where Bitcoin will go, its nature is being volatile so no one can really get the right price, or they may be some who did, but they didn't like sharing it.
As of now, let's just be happy that it's not getting as low as what happened on March of this year. It may not be able to hit $40k but at this bottom price, it is still a joy for those who are expecting a higher price and want to get the ROI as soon as they can. It's not that far and one good boost could probably hit a new bottom in the market.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is the solution to traffic congestion on the bitcoin network? on: May 18, 2023, 07:18:44 AM
^Thank you @franky1 for that output.
I don't understand much about codes but is that really possible? Segregate the possible spammers and prioritize the unique transactions?
Example: I do everyday transactions and trying to get a cheaper deal by just using the 24sat/byte, the economic one. Will the code that you prefer will see that it is a unique transaction and should be on the priority list instead?
I also don't think using other chains is the solution to this, but an average Joe like me who doesn't have much knowledge about those codes could not really do anything too. I think the developers are the only one who can fix this.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there play and pay later casinos? on: May 18, 2023, 06:53:01 AM
It's been a year and half that I talked last with a family friend who is living in North America and finally, he replied my messages after so many sms sent out to his number, he told me about how he own 60k in gambling and I somehow feel sorry for him but at the same time I doubt this, because I don't see anyone talking about gambling debts before.

To play in any casino you have to come with your money or asset, or are there any casinos that allow play and pay later? Or I am thinking if maybe he used a credit card for gambling? We all know that debt is possible on cards..

I know some people likes taking loans or borrow money, but I know him too well, he always advice us to never take any loan for anything.

I know some are wondering why I don't ask him, he is way older than me and I don't want to ask him, I only told him to take things easy with himself, I don't know if asking can make him feel bad even more.

So is gambling debt one way or other possible without the person taking loan or borrowing money?
Maybe he is regular customer and the casino already saw how much he is willing to risk just to gamble. It's not like we are not monitored in every casino that we go in, there are cameras everywhere. If they did, offering a loan would be easy and all they need is his details or where he receive his money from, and how much he can make.
$60k is a lot of money, he may have gone wild and thought he could get it back by gambling again. I doubt it will be from credit card or banks because there's always a limit to it. The only way I could see it is from the casino lending him money with collateral, maybe you should ask what he deal it for. House? Car? His payroll ATM card?
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS an asset. Do you think it's bad? on: May 16, 2023, 11:04:06 AM
There's nothing wrong about it, it can be both an asset and a currency.
If you save your money, that is also called an asset. If you save gold necklaces, rings, and bars in your vault, that is called an asset too and it can also be used as means of paying someone about something, a trade or barter or you could pawn or sell it for cash.
Any way an investor wants to think about what he bought is not something we could control anymore. If he/she likes to keep it as an asset, then so be it. Now if he/she have transaction that must be done in daily basis then Bitcoin could also be a good choice for it. I don't think it matter between the two options.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Third graders and Bitcoin on: May 16, 2023, 03:58:09 AM
I had a math class with third graders of which we discussed money I told them about virtual and real money of which I was very shocked and happy that they had knowledge about Bitcoin.
However we ended the class after we had spoken alot about Bitcoin they were soo happy and loved the class also
Like wow being with the kids was a nice time for them and I to get to know Bitcoin better look forward to having a class with them next week
Movies and cartoons now often put Bitcoin in their scripts and with the new era of the internet it won't be difficult for them to bump into a discussion or a video about Bitcoin on some social media platforms.
Yes, it's cool that kids now have their eyes opened with a technology that may be used in the future and that's a good start because who knows if one of them will be the new developer of it that might contribute bigger things to make it better.
I do suggest letting the discussions with them stay with Bitcoin for now. Thay way they won't be stained by the upcoming altcoins that have no usage at all in any industry. Scams, garbage, and dusts.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 16, 2023, 03:40:10 AM
How many wants to put money on Miami heat?  Grin
That is one big image you got there. Should've cut it down, it takes a while to load the whole thing. Grin

I am putting my bet on Miami Heat on one of the first two games in Boston. Maybe Game 2. Then, I will bet the 2 more in Miami for the Heat. Game 5 will be forced by the Celtics for 2-3 and Game 6 is where I think it will end in favor of the Miami Heat. But that is just my prediction as I think the Heat are stronger with Adebayo and Butler combined and they have a deep bench too with good defensive rating. This will not just be a battle of coach's strategy and adjustments, but stamina will also be a huge factor to win the game.
220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2024 halving less than 1 year away on: May 15, 2023, 09:41:28 AM
FOMO, so before the halving will happen. But I also want to consider the status of the world economy first. If another pandemic comes out, let's forget about the bull. If we see some light on prices decreasing and the war ending, then we might even see the bull much earlier than 6 months before the halving.
I do believe people have money, but they are saving it in case something worse happen again, like the Covid. They don't want to be left at zero and they learned their lesson from what we have been through.
