2001  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 27, 2014, 08:04:06 AM
And fc will come out with another generation of mining chips that will put all its competitors to shame as he has done so in the past. Haters will hate

Sure. Like with gen2 and gen3 and with his timing it will be *maybe* 2016

gen1-3 have each been a few months apart. What makes you think gen4 will take 2 years?

We don't know how AM gen4 will perform compared to SP gen2 because neither exist yet.

What we do know is that AM 40nm is the most efficient asic in existence as of now(by a tiny amount) and much more powerful than spondoolies 40nm (~40% more).
2002  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 27, 2014, 06:46:36 AM
We all know Gen3 isn't out yet, just some test samples; I'd be very concerned if I saw friedcat on Spondoolies forum 'straightening things out".

There is nothing wrong with it IMO.

He/they can have a voice on this forum like everyone else. Especially considering we were talking about AM in comparison to their company.

To be honest I would be very concerned if FC was spending time on the forum at all. We all know that's not normal.

Hammers (our 1st gen) can achieve 10 GHs easily. Tested. May achieve more, not tested.

But at 10gh is it still 0.55w/gh at the chip level?

Quote
You got it completely wrong. Our 2nd gen (RockerBox) is much, much better in term of $/GHs then any 40nm ASIC out there.

It very well could be but until you have the chips in hand and tested you wont know. And how much is "much much better"?  If it is a simple die shrink that would only be a 30% improvement.

Hosting has it's benefits and drawbacks.

Because its impossible to ship half a prospero I assume it would be more viable for them to just give us the equivalent hosting.

Although we wont get to resell our compensation, we also wouldn't have to pay for electricity which would be nice considering currently 10% of our earnings would be spent on electricity.
2005  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: April 27, 2014, 03:18:20 AM
BlackArrow, serious question.... I purchased only ONE X1, I have no desire to purchase another so where does that leave me in the scheme of things with the compensation plan? Do those who only purchased one unit receive a bit of a refund? Are we out of luck until we order more? It seems only those who spent more money are being rewarded however we all equally funded this endeavor. At the same time, this compensation plan is definitely a step in the right direction, I think if this was announced the first time around there would have been a lot less worry/cancellations of orders. Please keep me advised

+1

How will those of us with a single x1 be compensated? Not even the original 25% hosting?

I would be satisfied with 40% hosted hashrate but that's just me.

I'm really not looking to spend more money especially before you guys are shipping in stock hardware.

But if we do decide to place another order for an x1 in a month or two from minersource will we automatically be sent the free x1?

And will the free x1 be in addition to the "25% discount on all future orders "?

I am amazed that this runescape knockoff is valued at 10,000 btc.

Do they even have a planned source of revenue?

I assume it has to do with gambling/fleecing like every other listing on mpex.
2007  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: April 27, 2014, 02:08:16 AM
I was gonna try to get funds together to buy an S2..

seriously? out of the frying pan and into the fire, mate, do some more research first, please.

I had read they had a rough start, but they are a company with an actual track record. I have had zero issues with my s1's. At the time it would have been a preorder for them. Not quite sure what was that bad about them when they were first announced?

There is nothing wrong with bitmain. They have provided more hashrate than any other manufacturer.
2008  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 27, 2014, 02:00:05 AM
hey, it's your daydream, don't let me interrupt.  Grin

Having a discussion and using critical thinking skills is hard for you isn't it?

It doesn't take a genius to understand 12gh > 7gh

Are you having a HashFail argument? Really? 12gh is better than 7gh? That's your only argument?

With two chips that have nearly identical efficiency are competing, the winner will be the manufacturer with the lowest manufacturing costs.

If AM costs $0.2/gh at the wafer level we can assume spondoolies cost around $0.4/gh considering they both use the same process size and chip fab.

This simply means AM can and will lower the cost of their chips below what spondoolies can afford to.

For example AM can sell chips for $0.4/gh and still profit whereas spondoolies cannot.

Rating of Avalon: B+ Huh  Shocked  Angry

With Avalon  Batch 1 and 2 they built trust. With Batch 3 and chip sales they cashed out their gained trust!

No refund for trade-ins?-> Scam

In my opinion the rating should be: D-

+1
You guys were just in too deep to keep emotions out of it when considering Avalon. They did nothing wrong on batch 3 or chip orders - that you can get even remotely close to proving. The only outstanding issues is the trade ins.

Not to mention they are only selling in stock hardware and no longer preorders specifically because they fucked up that one time

you are comparing my 'already have' to your 'if this and, if that'

Says the guy comparing a nonexistent 28nm chip to q working in hand 40nm chip. Comparing the two existing 40nm chips there is one clear winner and it ain't the 7.5gh one.

Its a bit strange how fanatically you praise spondoolies and trash every other company. Ulterior motive much?

News flash: spondoolies fun time is over. Its time AM takes over the market.
2012  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 26, 2014, 11:19:50 PM

I have my SP10 here, already hashing and mined 1BTC to date, where you have there chips which merely match the efficiency of what I already have hashing?
Spondoolies 'hammer' will flood the market before AM3, not to mention their RockerBox gen2 in July August September, so no matter how urged I am to invest here, it's difficult to give myself good reason to do so when so much better is on the horizon.

FTFY

Keep in mind that AM chip is 12gh/s compared to spondoolies 7.5gh/s.

Basically means AM can sell the chips at half the cost compared to spondoolies/avalon.

It is even likely that AM 40nm is cheaper than sp 28nm at the wafer level.

Not to mention AM gen4 will probably be twice as fast as spondoolies (if die shrink benefits are equal.)

If AM fixes whatever went wrong with 40nm efficiency then it will surely blow away even spondoolies 3rd gen chip.
2013  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 26, 2014, 10:42:36 AM
my 2 satoshis would be to keep the controller on a separate board in case an asic board fries.

im just thinking back to the days of the V1 ASICMINER blades where if one part died. you could ask for an rma and not have to worry about shipping on the WHOLE product, just the replacement part

If we'll do the combined design, it will be in addition to the SP30 separate design.
In case of immersion cooling tanks, there is advantage to get as tight design as you can.
If one of the board fails, you simply remove it from the tank and replace it entirely.
Couldn't you design a control board that could power multiple mining boards? So if one failed you still pull it out, but just unplug it from the controller that could be sitting out of the fluid.

You mean  like this?

2014  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 26, 2014, 10:38:58 AM

CS stands for "component side" ( the upper side where the ASICs are installed) and
PS stands for "print side".

SP10 and SP30 shares the same similar design: Two ASICs boards, one management board (FPGA + TI Sitara) as side sandwich.
You can look at dogie picture here to better understand the design:

We're thinking to do another design for RockerBox in which the ASICs + FPGA + TI Sitara will sit in one self contained board.
This will be ideal for immersion cooling, but it will increase the BOM cost.

Thanks.

Did some rough calculations and I think it could be viable.

With the boards spaced 20mm apart you could fit 2 boards in a 1u container (1.75" x 24" x 17") so you would need 2-1.5 gallons depending on how much volume the asics displace.

~$200 per 1kw is not bad. Could be better if you can overclock.
2015  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 26, 2014, 06:37:55 AM
Main board dimensions
440X330X2.2mm
with max height on CS 13mm not final
and max height on PS 7mm not final

Mng board
87X265mm
with max height on CS 15mm not final
and max height on PS 3mm not final

Power is provided to the main board using a bus bar
Signals are connected between the Main and the Mng board using a flat cable.

Thanks. Can you clarify on what PS and CS are?

Also is the sp30 going to be a flat board similar to sp10 or is the "mng board" a seperate board for each chip?

Ok, so another delay? When will we see our miners then? I understand you are extremely busy trying to get them out the door however if you've posted here then clearly you have the time to post a new date and a new compensation plan?

He never said there was a delay. He just said minion chips shipping =/= prosperos shipping to clear up confusion.

The DIY GPU farm is in a datacenter submerged in GR cooling tanks and custom oil that cost about $2 per watt and a tank/rack maxes out at 100Kw

Green revolution claims total infrastructure costs of $4/w but that is far too expensive IMO. They also say

Quote
Most customers elect to install a cooling capacity of 10kW – 20 kW per rack. Since rack capacity is a function of coolant flow, there is always the possibility of upgrading the pump module to provide more cooling overhead in the future. - See more at: http://www.grcooling.com/data-center-performance/

So I doubt 100kw/42u rack is realistic without some serious cooling.

On the other hand if you can cool 5KW with 4 gallons of novec 2 phase cooling fluid that would only be $0.2/w and it would be much more efficient/effective at cooling.

LOL^ ?

So just how many machines do you plan on buying then?

Do you want to be like these guys

http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/2/5165428/bitcoin-mine-in-hong-kong-uses-jelly-to-keep-cool

If so is it necessary to think out aloud here to convince yourself?

I suspect all you can afford is one POS "thing" and as such dunking it in mineral oil will work out just fine for you. Otherwise if you wish to test your technical prowess about fantastical emerged farms of this specific product, you wouldn't even need to think out aloud. Here.

Good luck to you whatever you may do or not do.

Sorry if I offended you in some way.

But yes, I plan on doing exactly what allied control did but scaled down 1000 times.

As for my fantastical farm I actually plan to cool an entire ONE (1) prospero x-1 as an experiment/for fun.

I only asked for the dimensions because I am interested in how viable 2 phase immersion cooling can be for the hardcore home miners. (not claiming to be one)

1.  technical grade mineral oil  http://store.steoil.com/categories/Crystal-Plus-Tech-Grade/?sort=featured
2.  DYI kits  http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php easily replicable with some time and effort on your part for at least half the kit cost
3.  DYI GPU farm immersion https://blog.korelogic.com/blog/2013/06/05/oilcooledgpus

That is single phase immersion cooling. It has a much lower heat density/cooling effectiveness compared to two phase.
2020  Economy / Securities / Re: MPEx owner in danger of being extradited to US to face charges on: April 25, 2014, 11:05:50 PM
Jimmothy, let's cut the crap:  You *can't afford to trade on MPEx* -- I don't think you have 30 bits to your name.  Do you?

Your constant droning about cl00less n00bs being lured into paying MP 30BTC to ...just be able to trade on his exchange.  Come on, the sort of n00bs that have 30BTC to spare likely don't need your ace financial advice, amirite?  30BTC is still a decent sum, probably Bitcoin equivalent of IRL qualified investor.

Now stop trying to help those above your social and financial stratum, you silly Randian you.  We don't need your help.

Very nice retort. I do love ad hominims.

First of all you don't know how much money I have nor is it relevant.

To be an investor you simply need to invest money. There is no minimum or qualifications like you imagine.

But mpex is not investing. It is paying 30 btc to join the cult of superior investonomers.

Btw this "qualified investor" fee was only $200 bucks a year and a half ago. Surely it should have been 3000 btc right?

Just curious how much does a rich kid like yourself have invested in mpoe? Clearly you are here with a motive.
