2001  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: July 06, 2015, 06:15:38 PM

Also, to confuse me more, on windows I use command in bat file:

Code:
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.57 -o solo.antpool.com:3333 -u USER.ID -p PASSWORD --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1286

That leads me to the next question.
To run cgminer on my Linux machine, in the command I could replace:
Code:
sudo ./cgminer --bmsc-options 115200:0.57 -o stratum+tcp://solo.antpool.com:3333 -u USER.ID -p PASSWORD --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1286

By

Code:
sudo ./cgminer --icarus-options 115200:0.57 -o stratum+tcp://solo.antpool.com:3333 -u USER.ID -p PASSWORD --icarus-voltage 0800 --icarus-freq 1286

Would this be okay?

Thank you.

Why not use cgminer 4.9.2 and the correct U3 command line options per the README?

hi I am new to all of this.  just got my Antminer u3 but I don't know how to set it up.   I have windows 8  and am trying to use bfgminer 5.2.0.   for my mining pool I am using us1.eclipsemc.com:3333.   is this a good mining pool?   im honestly not understanding how to set up bfgminer.  with bfgminer do I need to set up the .bat file?  if someone could post step by step instructions for me that would be great. and if I do need to set up  a .bat file could someone plz tell me the order to write the code in because I see a lot of conflicting information on the web about it.  I also already used zadig and bgfminer doesn't seem to find any devices.  what do I do there?

All you need to know is in the README.

You don't use zadig with bfgminer.

I haven't had any luck with bfg 5.2.0 and a U3 running for more than a few minutes.

Use cgminer 4.9.2, it handles the U3 as well as possible.  You need to zadig to use cgminer with the U3.
2003  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: July 06, 2015, 06:09:49 PM
I've seen several single transaction blocks with same size and name $ amount the past few days.  Often they appear right after AntPool finds a real looking block.  This can't be right.

364026    14 minutes    1    $ 6,720.25    AntPool    0.2

If AntPool is collecting on these and in turn, paying us on these blocks, I would imagine the other pools would not be happy.

Is this the outdated software problem?

No, that's a separate "problem" (that some pools don't think is a problem) of creating empty blocks, blocks without transactions.  When the purpose of a block is to handle transactions and a pool solves a block that contains 0 transactions, to me that's a problem.

Hey there, thanks for the recent update, enjoying the additions.  I have a suggestion for the solo ckpool panel, there are some fields displayed that can be removed because they are meaningless basically:

  • pool hash rate
  • pool workers
  • pool users
  • uptime
  • pool last update

Removing these will also shrink the window up a bit.

Thanks, keep up the good work!

Oh, one more suggestion.  The field 'user hashrate' should specify if it is reporting 1m 5m 1h 1d or 7d, thanks again!
2006  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 06, 2015, 03:12:14 AM
I'm not sure how accurately the Bitmain driver handles the work difficulty from the pool.
I do it as follow:
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/driver-bitmain.c#L592

Thus the nonce finding variance of the Ant is close to the share finding variance - which reduces internal IO from the Ant chip also.
The Ants can do work difficulty at a power of 2 - 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 ,128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 (I stop at 4096 so direct solo gives results)
So if the pool difficulty is e.g. 300 the ant will mine internally at 256 difficulty and since the hash rate is based on nonces found, the hash rate's variance will be the equivalent of mining on a pool at 256 difficulty so will be noticeable.
Bitmain's driver does this also, but I'm not sure how accurately - it may be the same or lower for them.

I do not understand the code, but I think I follow the rest of what you are saying.

One question remains to me, is my machine actually hashing faster, as reported, for the 1-2 days after a restart, or is the elevated rate merely a result of the difficulty/nonce reason above?  If it is actually hashing faster then I should be restarting it every day or two, the difference is like a free usb stick or 3.

Thanks again.
2007  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: July 06, 2015, 12:29:22 AM
Dang....followed the directions to install the rewrite for cgminer (s3) but it says I'm still using 4.6.1-1. This can't be right & I see no difference in web interface. Knew this was gonna give me trouble....What did I do wrong?? I am not any good /w Linux...need some help plz. Thank You
What says you're still on 4.6.1-1?  This is the step-by-step set of instructions that will get it upgraded with kano's stuff:

Yea, I'm a noob at anything command line and I didn't have a problem upgrading my S3+, running 18 hours happily since I updated to 4.9.2.  I use cygwin rather than putty.
2008  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 05, 2015, 07:23:48 PM
Yes the hash rate has high variance due to the fact that the device nonces are at close to the pool difficulty.

So e.g. if you have the pool getting 18 shares per minute, cgminer will only see (on average) somewhere between 36 and 18 nonces per minute.
It can take a day (or more) to settle into the expected hash rate.
The share variance in the first 10 minutes can, of course, be very high or very low, and that decides the curve towards the expected, from above or from below.

The very first time I ran the new code on my S3 for an extended run, I got 500GHs for the first hour instead of 440GHs ... yeah even I had to think a few times about what was going on. My first overnight test run got 450GHs. But in both cases if I had left them for a day or two they would have ended up close to 440GHs

12 hours and running just fine, thanks!

The 5s hash rate swings pretty wildly, I've seen it as high as 1.1TH, heh.
2009  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 05, 2015, 07:03:48 AM
Right so you use both, since you want both to have access ...
W:127.0.0.1,W:[my local ip address]
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/API-README#L18

<snip>

Try setting the Advances settings to what they were before and saving them and make sure they are the same.

Edit: you can also see the setting it is running if you look at the API estats command output (in our version, not in the bitmain version)

I should read the read me, shouldn't I?  Thank you, makes sense and now fixed.

I had checked the advance settings and they were the same as pre-update before.  I've reinstalled 4.9.2 and I think I just needed to let it run a bit longer to even out.  Hashing away happily over 500GH/s now, thanks.  Would be great to see if 4.9.2 also fixes why my S3+ would decrease from 500GH to 480, sometimes over the course of 1 day, some times over several.  Fingers crossed it holds steady at 500GH+.  Cool

Just updated my S3+, couple issues:

1)  Under API allow, if I use W:[my local ip address], then CryptoGlance reports the S3+, but the web page doesn't show any stats under Miner Status.  If I use W:127.0.0.1, then it shows stats under Miner Status, but CryptoGlance shows the S3+ as dead.

2)  Old version my unit hashed at 500GH/s, now I don't see over 420.

Going to have to revert versions...

Yes just the steps shown at the top to do it - the tar extract and the cgset do everything
The rest below just explains what's going on.
Of course you should check your settings as it suggests.

... have you ever tried the U3 on cgminer? (latest 4.9.2)
We use proper USB access to devices, not 30 year old filtered serial access that hides important information
(and cgminer has since I first changed it to use USB long ago)
Direct USB has many advantages over the filtered serial access.
... though of course the U3 itself is pretty shoddy Tongue

Thanks, still haven't gotten around to updating my S3+, will do that soon.

I have not used 4.9.2 on my U3s yet, I have them at another location at the moment and that machine does not grant me necessary permissions to use zadig and modify usb drivers, so I am pursuing other avenues there.  Once summer is over I'll bring them home and run them with cgminer again.

Someone just used the alert key.

"Your node software is out of date and may accept an invalid blockchain fork. Do not trust confirmations"

I have 0.10.1, how can that be right Huh

Latest version is 0.10.2. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

I'm guessing its a blanket statement for all old versions, even though 0.10.0 is technically safe

I'm using 0.10.2 and still got the message, it's not a version specific announcement.

However, wget on the AntS3 won't allow https by default so I've copied it
to my link specified in the wget above

Am I understanding this correctly, that by following the basic update instructions, cgminer-monitor is updated as well; there are no additional step like there is for the S1?  Thanks.

whats the lowest hash on here to solve a block? just wondering if its worth running my 3x S1s on here...
Didn't somebody hit with 880GH/s or something a while back?  Pretty sure that was here... Smiley
Off the top of my head I remember seeing a 4.4 Th/s, 3.8 Th/s, and 800 something Gh/s. It is somewhere in this lengthy thread  Cool

I thought I read that someone solved one here with an S1, but I may be mis-remembering.

The exact command is: bfgminer -d? -D -S all
Post the full output in a [ code] block here.

Here's the output, it freezes at the last line and does not return to the command prompt, much like when trying to start the program:
Please repeat with http://luke.dashjr.org/tmp/code/webisect/webisect.php?dobuild=tmp249

Here is the result:
Eh? It's no longer hanging... :/

I tried that same test again and it hung, but when I unplugged the U3 usb and plugged it back in again it ran through to completion again.  I actually didn't try launching the bisect version with my normal batch file, I'll try that and hopefully it fires up just fine.

2019  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 02, 2015, 07:14:52 PM
I've put an AntS3 update archive in my binaries git hub of latest 4.9.2 cgminer.
For details and installing: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS3

This has been tested and run on both an old AntS3 and one of the later AntS3

I don't have an AntS3+ but I suspect it should work fine there also.

The menu frequency settings in the "Miner Configuration" "Advanced Settings" web interface includes default settings for both S3 and S3+

I've, of course, tested it on my pool https://kano.is/

It should also be OK on p2pool since it's the same code related to p2pool as in my AntS1 and AntS2 releases

Please give it a try and let me know if anyone has any trouble with it on AntS3 or AntS3+

Most excellent, will update my S3+ tonight!
2020  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: June 28th to July 12th Difficulty thread. Picks are open!! on: July 02, 2015, 07:09:45 PM
Bitwisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    49,402,014,931
Estimated Next Difficulty:    49,063,094,300 (-0.69%)
Adjust time:    After 1389 Blocks, About 9.7 days
Hashrate(?):    350,499,303 GH/s

So still looking very good.   And with price around 255 I still say great summer for miners.
So far so good, but summer is only 6 days old...
