2021  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 02, 2015, 05:47:07 AM
Having a little trouble please advise

AU3 0 attempted reset got error:(0) LIBUSB_SUCCESS

What is it doing when I get that error and do I need to do anything to fix it?

Thanks -
Keith

Does it keep mining?  Does it change to AU3 1?

I think that's the software resetting the miner.

What is "lastupdate" used for? solo.ckpool is giving me something crazy like 45 years :| If I subtract lastupdate from the current time, I get an estimate of 20-60 seconds (which seems correct)

I know that it updates every minute, if that helps.

All ya'lls bible talk is moot to this discussion because they are your beliefs and you can't legislate belief.  Well, you can try...

Read your bible and highlight the number of times it mentions homosexuality.  Then do the same but for the sin of eating shellfish, and tell me which is mentioned more (spoiler alert: shellfish by leaps and bounds).  Also take note that tattoos are considered sin (which makes all those christian tattoos deliciously ironic), as is mixing linen materials in your wardrobe.

Get off your religious crutches and try thinking on your own for a change.  It hurts at first, but worth it in the long run.
2024  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s3+ setup on: July 01, 2015, 11:54:09 PM
Do a factory reset, make sure you have a computer on the same subnet, and try to access it again.
I did a factory reset on the antminer and the router and still nothing.
The default IP address for the S3 is 192.168.1.99, what is the IP address of the machine you are trying to access it from?

My guess is it's something different than 192.168.1.XXX and that's why you can't see the S3.  You need to have a machine on the same IP scheme as the S3 in order to see it, usually an extra laptop or something you can change the IP address on really easy, then you can change the S3 IP address to match your home network.

Joe Rogan sums it up nicely:  If you're against gay marriage you're either dumb as fuck, or you secretly think dicks are delicious.
2027  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New mining setup abroad on: July 01, 2015, 10:26:39 PM

One of the biggest factors of this venture is the amount of people who claim it not worth mining BTC anymore unless you where already involved before difficulty increases.

This is mainly a result of the electricity rate people pay, but it sounds like your setup is a good one (especially if AC is included in your rent, cooling is a huge cost) and you should see a profit sooner than later.  Post up some pictures when you get set up!

[snip]I'm using the latest build, [snip] I've tried using the basic bmsc lines that were in the user manual, but still nothing works.

Read the cgminer ASIC readme, not the antminer user manual, and use the correct config parameters for the U3 as ck has mentioned.

See the various U3 support threads and see what a piece of crap machine they are.  Mine are currently paper weights.  Good luck!

i hope its alot quieter than the s5, not a big deal for farms or people with small data centers but for home miners its noticable

I hope it doesn't melt itself if the internet goes down for an hour, that would be an improvement!  Roll Eyes

Each and every day, new reminders that block size is indeed an issue, and that it must be solved in near future with raising the blocksize...

And more examples of why empty blocks are bad for the network and provide no worth.

Sorry, let me rephrase that.

What alternative mining unit would you suggest? Just wondering.
Alternative to the U3 with similar cost/hashing power.

I use S3+, my U3s are paper weights for now.  One S3+ cost 2x what I paid for one U3 new, but it hashes 8.5 times as fast and is totally stable.

I have a couple usb stick miners, too, but they will be replaced with GekkoScience sticks as soon as they are available.  Check them out, at 8-9GH per stick it would only take a few to equal a U3.
2034  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer U3 Setup [HD] on: June 30, 2015, 10:33:43 PM

It mite be that my windows xp does not have enough resources to run two antminers at once. Its a old machine.

Mine is old, too, and still runs XP, so yea, I think that has something to do with it.

I only wish I had the same luck  Cheesy
I'll give it a try on a different system.
I believe what you say, but its hard to accept the idea that only one at a time will work is the norm.
There are several flaws with the U3's design.  I sent one to a guy on this forum who took it apart and I can't recall exactly what he said but there's something about the USB and power sharing a common something or other and long story short it's a crap design. Smiley

You could try 4.9.0, but 4.9.2 should work "better" in theory and would be the version I suggest; any problems you're having will not be coming from 4.9.0 or 4.9.2, they will be from the hardware itself.  4.9.1 will not detect the U3, so don't use that version, it was a known bug.

Today, after one day of mining with one on my U3 and it started beeping and red led flashing and showing errors in cgminer...
I guess it was the heat that was causing it to go nuts. It was so hot I could not touch the blue plate.
I did not have an extra fan blowing at it but it is in a well ventilated place and relative cool ambient temperature. below 23 Cº
I ended up turning it off to cool down.  Roll Eyes
The U3 needing daily, sometimes multiple, restarts per day is more "normal" behaviour for the units.  Below you can see my cooling mod (from a few pages back):
So this "mod" has provided much better results as far as cooling and operating stability go vs. what I saw from re-doing the thermal paste:

If it's working, don't touch it!  Grin

Some people have luck with hubs, some people only have luck without hubs.  There doesn't seem to be a formula with the U3 that they all work, just stuff that everyone can try and some works for some and some for others.

+3.76 to 4.00 please.

I see us over 50G here shortly.  Greece is causing some motion in bitcoin.

Read through the other thread you posted in and follow my trail, I tried several different things to get 2 to work together and never had any luck.  You could try the same things, but chances are you'll just be wasting your time.  Do you have 2 computers to each run one?

I have been here since the first campaign, I hope they keep twitter going in some capacity; I do not use facebook.

And they are pretty good at delivering gear.

Give them a shout out instead, they'll appreciate it more.  Cheesy
