What version of cgminer are you using? I had to download cgminer for Windows from Bitmain to get rid of that error.
Hi. I'm using cgminer 4.9.2 I did not try any other version. I assumed the last version would be the best bet! What previous version should I test? 4.9.2 is the best version, it has bug fixes from 4.9.0 that specifically effect the U3; carry on. And people wonder why I post in any thread considering a U3 that they are crap machines and not worth the effort, just the last page of this thread sums it all up.

I tried plugging it into my USB Hub that I run my BlockErupters on and started up cgminer and got this:
The U3 probably isn't compatible with block erupters, try it on that hub without them.

I need some help with getting my new U3 to be recognized *by cgminer*.
My computer recognizes it under devices and printers as the name of the driver; CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller).
I installed the driver (silabs USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx). Then went to zadig and did everything correctly per Bitmain's U3 user guide.
Then when using cgminer (4.8.0, though it happened in older versions too) I get the following errors:
USB init, open device failed, err -12 You need to install a WinUSB driver for - CMR device 3:1 (after re-boot using different USB port- 3:2) And associate - CMR device with WinUSB using zadig See README.txt file included for help BitMain detect <3:1> failed to initialize <incorrect device?> No devices detected! Waiting for USB hotplug devices or press q to quit
I've tried using different USB ports, though I dont think that's the issue as my computer always recotgnizes the device in System Panel.
Can someone please help?
Thanks.
Don't use 4.8.0, go to ck's page and download 4.9.2. Re-zadig until it works (plug in power to U3, then usb, then zadig it, then unplug usb, count to 5, replug usb), the message seems to be the one you get when you don't have the winusb driver zadig'd.

How do I setup two Antminer U3 on the same computer?
I read users here running 5 and 6 units...
I tested then separately first to make sure each one is working. I confirmed that, and no errors. All working fine and they start receiving block when connected one at a time.
The people who get more than 1 to work are the exception. People like us who have 1 work fine and plug in a second and all goes to crap are the norm. There's nothing you can do, I have tried everything. Some systems it works, most it doesn't.
|
|
|
But wait... Where is the entire block?.. ![Embarrassed](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/embarrassed.gif) ckpool is open sourced and used all over the place; it is not the name of a single pool.

The other thing I want to work on this week is a stud hub. I mentioned previously we're toying with a 7-port unnecessarily-beefy hub that can take in 6-28VDC and provide something like 1.5A per port, and I think I can conjure up a prototype PCB design this week. It'd be useful for a lot more things than just stickminers.
Are you going to use a multi TT chip? Supposedly some USBs have issues on single TT chip hubs.

The main point of me wanting to use bitcoin is to stay anonymous - That means I don't want any trace whatsoever coming back to me.
Then bitcoin is not the crypto currency for you. There are others that specialize in anonymity, but bitcoin does not/has never had anonymity as a priority or consideration.

I still use faucets on occasion. I use the epay faucets and have my payout set high enough so that I get more than just dust. I think I use 0.001BTC as my min. payout.

Keep your $20, the U3 is a crap little machine. Good potential, poor execution.

Congrats, nice carry over win!
New thread up yet?

x2 The S3 is a work horse, I love mine. I will love it even more with updated (better) software, woo!
I wonder if mega mines like HaoBTC will update all 11,000+ of their units, and how long that would take...

To save me trouble I'll probably end up just selling on the forums here. I reckon if someone else wants to list on eBay that's fine with me, but you'll have to remember there's no bulk discounts.
If the first 600 sell out super fast, I'll definitely look into a second batch. It's going to depend pretty heavily on chip sourcing though.
I hope they do sell out fast! I know I'm going to want about 4, and replacement boards for my old S1 when available. It won't take too many people ordering a handful here and there to eat up that 600. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Are they available yet ?? ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) No, but we're getting closer...

Any update for launch date? I have many investors in india. ...after launch you inform me....
I don't think there is a launch date... If you want to invest in a mining operation check out HaoBTC, they seem to be above board. For now at any rate.

The exact command is: bfgminer -d? -D -S all Post the full output in a [ code] block here.
Here's the output, it freezes at the last line and does not return to the command prompt, much like when trying to start the program: C:\bfgminer520>bfgminer -d? -D -S all

Also, mostly because I can, I just rolled all nine sticks up to around 665mV and 225MHz (12.375GH) for about 111GH total (1.036 AM Blade backplanes) and since it's fairly monolithic at this point I'm gonna take it home and run it in the AC until Monday morning. I've also got a bit better fan on it (than the one stolen out of an old AM Cube).
>100GH out of some usb sticks, I love it! For fun I have 4 stick miners, but only 8GH total. I see an upgrade in my future...

Voting in a presidential election in the US is pointless, it doesn't matter who wins, we all lose. The office was bought and paid for by US corporations a long, long time ago, and does nothing to serve its people. George Carlin, as always, had the best take on it: https://youtu.be/xIraCchPDhk

There always seems to be a bump in network hash power right toward the end of adjustment. Coincidence, or by design I wonder?
