2083  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BitMarket.eu - should we accept USD? on: May 01, 2011, 07:09:01 PM
Question is if US people are going to use it. MtGox also accepts USD bank transfers, so you will have to compete with them (and MtGox being US based they have an advantage in that respect).

Mt Gox is based in Japan now since owner changed.
2084  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold vs bitcoin on: May 01, 2011, 07:07:14 PM
If bitcoin will be a success (e.g. 10% of US economy), than i think it will demonetize gold relatively quickly, so gold's price will be around industrial use price. This is the same effect, that happened to silver in 19-20th century.

Buy Gold puts :-)
2085  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: May 01, 2011, 12:19:32 PM
BTC/USD is above both channels mow (normal scale 1.6$, log scale around 3$). It is crucial now to stay above. A break below will make this a BULL TRAP and give a quite negative indication.

So it is important that Bitcoin doesn't break $3, $1.6.  That is a very large range.  So now we should see resistance at the upper line of the price channel?

Yes, that is correct. Resistance / support is the upper trendline of the price channel.

It is true that at this stage, we cannot know for certain which channel line the market thinks is more important. The log scale around 3$ +-0.15 or the nominal trend line around 1.6 $.

I will run a deeper analysis on Monday, trying to shed some light on this.

In the meanwhile, it is evident that prices turned down from the parabolic rise. In a way, BTC/USD may have entered a similar path like Silver. Silver will likely crash down hard once the parabolic rise is over. Either from current levels around 48$, or after another rise into the 55-60$ area.

I would be interested to hear the questions and answers?

If you dont have a video, can you share the essence of the Q&As?

thanks

He is even more genius than I thought if he purposefully selected the name Satoshi because of the 2007 "find Satoshi" noise..!

All it takes is a ~20k $ order to evaporate the 2 $ level and generate upside potential way beyond that. Given the healthy technicals, a further acceleration to 5$, 10$ should not surprise people too much.
2092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Repeat questions on the forum on: April 26, 2011, 10:54:24 AM
I admin another technical Forum and that has been a thought of mine for some time.

Forum groups assigned ~3 levels - 1.Newbie, 2.Experienced and 3.Guru.

Newbies can read 1, 2 and maybe 3, but can only post in group 1 initially.

After while (certain number of posts, time since joining or similair), an admin reviews their last X posts for signs of maturity, comprehension, manners (being nice/helpful to other newbies) etc, and if they look like they have half a brain, they get to post in the 2. mid-range groups.

If they want to participate in the 3.top-level groups, where the coders, network guru's, and people who have a real understanding of what "money is" discuss topics that are not benefited by having some n00b throw poorly considered opinions in, then they can PM an admin and explain why they think they are qualified or should be allowed to disturb/participate in high level conversations.

I realise it sounds a bit elitist, but you wouldnt expect a group of professionals or specialists to be able hold a useful discussion in a public place where anyone can interrupt without a moments thought.

In the case of bitcoin, which is a deeply technical system requiring some serious education/learning to understand, that also interacts with a topic that everyone has an opinion on (money), I think it would be a good idea.

Actually I agree the guy looked very likeable.

When writing "get him" I was interested to find out who he is, now knowing that you know him, even better: Now we may be able to explain a bit better what the benefits of bitcoins are.
2095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Don't buy bitcoins" on: April 25, 2011, 06:46:59 PM
It would be funny to find out who the guy is. It should be put "wanted" somehwere..
If he is in the US, maybe PLATO can get to him on his road trip and convert him to bitcoins (selling for a few carrots as Plato needs food) Smiley

Why don't people not interested into cypherdoc's call for help discuss their egoistic views somewhere else so that we can get back to the original thread motive?
2097  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: April 25, 2011, 06:23:56 PM
Yes, the pattern down from the high is not bearish.

Low volume, slow move downwards.

It seems we get another bull run soon. Just depends from where it exactly will start.

I vote for getting business that trade narcotics off the merchant list.

We do not want to promote that kind of thing on the official forum. Those who absolutely want to seek out that stuff, will be able to find it anyway.

Illegal goods are not allowed on the official forum. bitcoin.it is not official.

Thanks and lets continue to hold a strong position against illegal things here.

Fundamentally, there will likely be new fund inflows to buy bitcoins in the next days - given the massive news coverage.

People who sell now between 1.6 and 2.0 might be surprised if prices break above 2 $ with big momentum.

The bitcoin market is so small that a small investor can drive the value up to 3, 5, 10 $ with ease.
