2161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins and new all time highs on: December 22, 2020, 06:05:14 PM
According to charts of altcoins from 2017-2018 altmarket hits those big numbers months later than Bitcoin.
So its not surprising at all that we don't see a lot of new ATH right now

I don't think that the pattern from 2017 is going to repeat. Many of the altcoins are in very bad shape, and Bitcoin has a market share of 66.7% currently. And this has occurred despite the listing of several new altcoins recently, such as Polkadot, Chainlink and Crypto.com Coin. The current rally has occurred mostly due to the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin. Altcoins have played no part in this.
2162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin do you trust, BNB or ETH? on: December 22, 2020, 05:46:56 PM
IMO, the only advantage that Ethereum possess is that it has more global acceptability when compared to BNB. Being an exchange token, BNB has its own limitations and may not be readily accepted in competing exchanges. But that said BNB is much superior to Ethereum, as far as the technology is concerned. Also, the development team of BNB takes care of the vulnerabilities and bugs regularly, unlike the case with Ethereum.
2163  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-17] IRS is trapping bitcoin and altcoin investors on 2020 tax form on: December 22, 2020, 05:34:28 PM
Yeah, they can't investigate everyone, but they will go for the low hanging fruit, primarily people who have completed KYC on large exchanges which freely hand over data to the IRS.

This is a big issue. A lot of the users here (including myself) have undergone KYC process in various exchanges, so that we can convert our bounty tokens to either BTC or ETH. I haven't used any of these exchanges since 2018. But as far as I know, the IRS is digging up data from 2013-14 onwards. The primary exchange that I used was Cryptopia, where I stored considerable amount of BTC, ETH and altcoins/tokens. Now I need to be extra careful, while applying for the fund recovery/reimbursement from that exchange.
2164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cash out or HODL - Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2020, 05:22:13 PM
Being greedy is not good, so, if you think you already gain enough profit then you can sell it but don't forget to buy again if there is some price correction then hold. If you need to cash out to spend for this Christmas and new year then, you should think it better. Holding bitcoin is still the best choice but it is still depends on you.

Those who liquidated their holding many years back are regretting now. On the other hand those greedy guys, who held on to their coins are rejoicing now. So I don't think that you can't generalize all the investors. Bitcoin is still in the early adoption phase (mainstream adoption has just started) and now it is more profitable to hold on to your coins. Profit booking can be done, but at the right intervals using small amounts.
2165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 22, 2020, 05:11:07 PM
Pakistan's luck was helpful today so they were able to win today's match. Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Hafeez's innings were just amazing. It is mainly because of these two that Pakistan has won. I would like to mention Faheem Ashraf's name. New Zealand scored only 177 runs for his great bowling. He took some important wickets.

What is the point in winning a dead rubber? New Zealand already won the series and this match was just a formality. And remember that New Zealand was without many of their key players. The first test match will start in four days time. Let's see whether Pakistan is able to give any meaningful competition. I just hope that they will not get bowled out for 36 runs, like what happened to India at Adelaide.  Grin
2166  Economy / Economics / Re: which will u choose to buy on: December 22, 2020, 01:14:26 PM
what are you gonna do if u have millions dollars of cash ? are  you  gonna spend it all for ferrari high class car or invest bitcoin for survive ?

Is it necessary to spend all of your money in one specific niche? Most of the billionaires spend a part of their wealth on luxury items such as sports vehicles, while they keep the remainder as various investment assets such as treasury bonds, bank deposits, real estate, equities and bullion. Most of us would do the same, in case we become millionaires as a result of Bitcoin.  Grin
2167  Economy / Economics / Re: Tether's market cap is huge! (usdt) on: December 22, 2020, 12:57:08 PM
with libra diem launching next month, things are heating up. libra is what got congress really talking about crypto regulation, and i have a feeling it's about to thrust it to the forefront again. the bitcoin bull market is accelerating things too.

there is always a chance that governments tread lightly in favor innovation in the DEFI space. wouldn't that be nice? Smiley

For me, this is very fishy. Why the congress is so concerned about Libra/Diem? After all, it is a centralized digital currency and is more similar to digital versions of fiat currency such as PayPal. It is a hint that the politicians are not very comfortable with the rise of Bitcoin and other decentralized cryptocurrencies. Libra/Diem is just a diversion. The real target may be Bitcoin.
2168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 22, 2020, 12:38:11 PM
This question about preparing green and bouncy pitches for domestic tournaments always come up whenever India undergoes humiliation in Australia or England. And after that there will be a home series against weaker teams such as West Indies or South Africa. India will win the series 3-0 or 5-0, and everyone will forget about the debate on bouncy tracks. This has happened for the last two decades or so and I don't expect the situation to change anytime soon.
2169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 22, 2020, 12:18:14 PM
Finally Pakistan got a consolation win in New Zealand. Good for them! Two South African imports (Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips) scored more than half of the New Zealand total of 173, but Pakistan managed to chase it down with two balls to spare (thanks to 89 from Mohammad Rizwan). BTW, the player of the series award went to Tim Seifert of New Zealand.
2170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 22, 2020, 11:53:40 AM
One of the reason i am in favor of arm-twisting when it comes to situation of pitches in the India. They should bring some policies that if any state not producing quality competitive wickets in the domestic games then they would never get any international games. Provide more assistance with funding to the states who are following such policy.

I don't know how practical is this. Most of the state cricket associations are under the control of politicians. For example, the TNCA is under the control of N Srinivasan family, while the Mumbai Cricket Association is controlled by the Thackrey family. Arm twisting tactics will never work, because these politicians have more power when compared to BCCI officials such as Saurav Ganguly.
2171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we all fools on believing the word "HOLD"? on: December 21, 2020, 05:35:48 PM
Believing in something is not an act of folishness. It is better to hold rather than panic selling , if you think the alts or tokens you are holding have the chance to pump in future then why not HOLD ? So better to take risks when it comes to trading so that you will not regret.

During the last 2-3 years, how many of the altcoins and tokens that you were holding have undergone pump? I am not an advocate of panic selling. But if you are holding a coin, which hasn't gone up in a long time, then there is no point in trusting it any further. If you continue to hold such coins, then after some time it is going to get delisted from the exchanges and you will be stuck without any other option.
2172  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 21, 2020, 05:16:22 PM
Its really big issue for sub-continent boards and players they never try to learn from mistakes just because of this have many problems in past and right now still both big teams from Sub-Continent facing in Australia and New Zealand one already lost tewnty/20 series and now on verge of clean sweep second after losing first test very badly now have some big problems now I am feeling they are going down and out very badly in this series.

A few years back, there was a proposal to prepare pitches that would have good seam movement and bounce for the domestic tournaments. But apart from a few domestic sides such as Punjab, none of the other teams implemented this proposal. Even in domestic cricket, a lot of the teams are overdependent on the spinners. And this is a big obstacle when these players get out to bat in surfaces that supports pace bowling.
2173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHICH COIN IS THE NEXT ETHEREUM ? on: December 21, 2020, 05:05:01 PM
is the next ethereum is still on Tron, because in Tron fees for transactions are really very cheap,
sending 1 USDT only requires a few TRX with an estimate below $ 0.5,
this is very different from Ethereum which requires $ 1- $ 5 fees just for transactions.

Tron is just another overhyped coin. If low fee is the sole criteria, then we have hundreds, if not thousands of options available. What we need is a platform, which has good acceptability as well as scalability. Tron has some acceptability, but it has remained stagnant for some time now. I would rather prefer platforms which are growing in acceptability, such as Binance Chain.
2174  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bangladesh going to accept Cryptocurrency??? on: December 21, 2020, 04:52:19 PM
I have found six countries so far where cryptocurrency is totally banned and punishable crime. Bangladesh is one of them where it is already provided earlier. Six countries are....

There is a difference between de facto illegal and de jure illegal. In countries such as Bolivia and Ecuador, no one has been arrested till now for trading in Bitcoin. On the other hand, Bangladesh and Nepal have a history of arresting Bitcoin traders. So you can't compare these two group of countries. Bangladesh belongs to a select group, where trading in cryptocurrency can land you in jail.

2175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: December 21, 2020, 04:42:16 PM
Only 2-3 foreign players, but you will see that each team depends on these 2-3 foreign players. Reducing this dependence would be good for Indian national football. If the league title is won by foreign players, then the Indian national team will never be able to participate in the World Cup. I agree with you on that point, we see ISL only for foreign players.

These foreign players are there in the teams for multiple reasons. One of the aims is to mentor young local players and from what I can see a number of local players have benefited from playing alongside these international stars. The quality of football is very low in India and hopefully within the next few years there will be enough young local players to improve the standards.
2176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it right time to Buy Alt coins now? on: December 21, 2020, 04:32:14 PM
I don't feel very excited in dealing with altcoins right now. First of all, the Bitcoin dominance has increased by almost 10% within 2-3 months. A few months back, the market share for BTC was 57% and now it is close to 67%. Also, many of the established altcoins are now trading below crucial support levels. Ethereum has gone below 0.027 BTC, while Litecoin is now trading at BTC0.0047. The same can be said about BCH and XRP as well. Since the support levels are not getting maintained, we can expect a massive selloff in the near future, which should lower the prices further.
2177  Economy / Economics / Re: Tether's market cap is huge! (usdt) on: December 21, 2020, 04:22:18 PM
  • Lawsuits are pending

Do you have any sources for this? I remember I read about it a little while ago but I forgot where it was. I wonder when will they place the bomb. I guess they wait for crypto to moon even higher before they act.

He's probably talking about this one:

https://www.coindesk.com/nyag-tether-bitfinex-loan-documents-coming-weeks

Quote
The New York Attorney General (NYAG) anticipates the handover of loan documents relating to an alleged $850 million cover-up will be completed in “the coming weeks.”

Remember that this incident happened many years back (although the legal process is ongoing), when Tether was still in its infancy and when the market cap was only a fraction of the current level. Just imagine what will be the impact, if something like this one is uncovered now. Let's just hope that it will not happen, but if it occurs, then it will be the biggest scam in cryptocurrency till date.
2178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 21, 2020, 04:12:04 PM
I agree with you. Pakistan is failing to find new talent. And they are not able to produce talented players properly because of internal problems within their management. Firstly, they have to make the board free from corruption. Secondly, they have to solve their internal problems. And thirdly, they need to increase the number of domestic leagues. Only then will they find more new talent.

Rather than increasing the number of domestic leagues and domestic teams, they need to have a standard first-class system, similar to the one the y have in England or Australia. IMO, the main issue is that their 4-day domestic tournament (Quaid-i-Azam Trophy) doesn't have the required quality. Also, they are changing the format every now and then, and therefore there is no stability. A total of 16 teams participated in this tournament during the 2018–19 season. One year later, the number of teams were cut down to just six. Despite the reduction in the number of teams, the quality of cricket has remained the same.
2179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 21, 2020, 12:53:16 PM
We have seen many times player on their duty even when they absolutely needed to be with the family. And here's Kohli who after a humiliating defeat against Australia have decided to care for his wife who is due to deliver next year. And now he's taking individual session with the team to increase their morale. That's the funny thing to do when you are leaving for paternity leave for months.

I agree with Haunebu. Kohli is not some machine and he has a family to care for. His family needs him and that is why he is returning home. And this was conveyed to the BCCI officials many months back. It is not his fault that the remaining Indian players behave like bums when they have to play in surfaces which are more conductive to pace bowling. If India can't win matches without Kohli, then why the other players are being given central contracts?

It is almost confirmed that Prithvi Shaw will be dropped for the second test. But that doesn't mean that the other opener is in a comfortable position (Mayank Agarwal). He scored just 26 runs from his two innings at Adelaide and his performance against Australia A at Sydney was also disappointing. Luckily for him, not many noticed his bad form because Prithvi Shaw was under the spotlight.
