221  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Everyone of my friends says the same: "How do I get Bitcoins?" on: July 27, 2014, 06:31:06 PM
BTC faucets are a waste of time and life. Alt faucets tend to be much more generous in their early days and if the coin in question explodes you might get a useful payday.

Faucets used to give around 1 Bitcoin which obviously is worth the time now that Bitcoin has exploded but the likely hood of earning your time back from 0.00001 Bitcoin is hard to imagine.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: will bitcoin be the irrational exuberance of our times? on: July 27, 2014, 06:28:48 PM
It's going to be a sight to see when that happens imagine all of the people celebrating from around the world Bitcoin would finally be written into history as being one of the most revolutionary piece of technology.
223  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 27, 2014, 06:27:24 PM
No you are taught that you will earn money because you have a fancy degree but most companies prefer experience honestly a little piece of paper doesn't go very far when there are millions with that piece of paper.
224  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Mine-O-Matic on: July 27, 2014, 06:12:17 PM
So what exactly is this? I'm under the impression that this software allows you to use another mining program along side this and switch pools automatically and track the conversion rate of each currency?
225  Economy / Goods / Re: i Want To Sell My Wicked Laser Branded 2W Blue Laser ''Spyder3 Arctic'' on: July 27, 2014, 06:10:02 PM
may I ask why you can't use it? also what country are you shipping from exactly?
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin fading away? on: July 27, 2014, 06:09:06 PM
dont worry its FUD spreading season again, people trying to spout out lies trying to get a panic crash. simply because they missed out on the cheap coin at $450 and know that the next jump would be $1000, so they are hoping to crash the market just to get the coins they missed before it jumps over $1000 again

I thought the community has matured and got over this sort of thing from trying it last year. I remember seeing thread after thread in summer 2013.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NO MORE!! on: July 27, 2014, 06:02:46 PM
Sadly we are going to keep on seeing the amount of alt coins rise and then we'll just have a unlimited amount of cloned coins which pump and dump.
228  Other / Beginners & Help / How much Bitcoin would you like to have at the end of 2015? on: July 27, 2014, 05:59:36 PM
How much would you like to have in your wallet by the end of 2015? Lets be realistic and not just saying 1 million Bitcoin. I know the majority of this forum hasn't got 10+ Bitcoin.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which city will be the center of crypto currency on: July 27, 2014, 05:56:02 PM
I really don't know how this would work though there can't be a single node which is classified as a center or are you suggesting that the center has thousands of nodes run 24/7 to be classified as the center of Bitcoin.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin fading away? on: July 27, 2014, 05:53:34 PM
How is Bitcoin fading away? That doesn't make any sense it's dropped by a small amount but has major companies accepted it. I don't think you've done your homework.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's brave/stupid enough to invest their life savings into Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2014, 04:35:41 PM
Would it be safer than storing your wealth in the bank? I mean how often does a bank shut down? the value of bitcoin could go to 0 any minute!

That's a good comparison. I don't know whether it's 'safer' but I would prefer losing my money due to my own decision rather than having it taken by a multi millionaire company.

In the US every bank account is insured up to $100,000 to $500,000. If the bank goes down due to faulty or fraudulent decisions by the bank most consumers would be protected.

That's just in the US a lot of countries don't offer this type of insurance I know a lot of countries have it so that if the bank declares bankrupts you can't touch them and it's happened many times before. I'm not 100% sure the policy in the US as I don't live there or own a US bank account.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Coin Mining Business? on: July 27, 2014, 04:28:46 PM
Mining in alt coins which have just been released is a good chance that you could profit from it but there is a big risk in doing so too so you should evaluate again and see if you would like to take the risk in mining newly established coins and then trade them in for Bitcoin there are many pump and dump coins so it should be pretty easy for you with decent equipment.
233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid for signature space? on: July 27, 2014, 04:25:34 PM
trust me you need to post a grip to get any btc around on this forum.

And thats if those posts are approved, which most dont go through since its counted as spam.

That's true most have to be constructive. which is very hard to meet the minimum amount for that month. It's only a little bit of Bitcoin but anything is better than nothing really.

So is there an easy to know threshold of what's considered spam vs. constructive? Would this question/post be considered spam even though I'm asking a genuine question?

There is nothing set in stone. Most campaign managers reserve the right to make their own decisions regarding this, so when in doubt, do not pad your post count. Some are explicit; my campaign, for instance, urges members to make 3+ sentences per post to be considered constructive.

A lot of people agree that it needs to be on topic and adding to discussion to be considered constructive I often have to reduce non constructive posts of mine from the total.

One way to know the campaign managers' requirements for "constructive posts", is to check the posts of those getting denied for sig payment. Smiley

For example, Stunna denied 6 persons' sig payments last month. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291387.msg7916455#msg7916455

That's a good reference actually and I didn't see that when stunna posted it but in general my explanation is suited as those members who were denied did abuse and basically post 1 sentence and most of them were in giveaway threads.

Banned because I had to google ambiguity.

Banned for not having above 10 activity.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's brave/stupid enough to invest their life savings into Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2014, 04:22:49 PM
does hoarding thousands of BTC, whilst having a fiat bank account balance of under £30(~$50 after bills) count

Cheesy

hmm realizing its a sunday and pay day tomorrow....

45 minutes later

ok my bank balance is zero..... mmmmm pizza and beer

so i guess i am heavily invested in bitcoin..  Grin

Yeah sure that counts your in a very strong position with that amount invested.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which city will be the center of crypto currency on: July 27, 2014, 04:21:26 PM
Even though Bitcoin is decentralized I think if we did have a center it would probably be london they are friendly to Bitcoin and are already a economic center.
237  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: July 27, 2014, 04:19:14 PM
Airplanes are at around 80 MPG per seat.
Cars have the potential of 140 MPG (in highway travel with all the seats occupied)
Volvo buses are at 570 MPG (per passenger)
Hybrid cars have the potential of 240 MPG (assuming all seats are occupied).
Electric cars like Tesla? Forget about it. Trains?
Airplane trips are meant to be a factor of difference longer than car trips.

Green groups want to improve efficiency standards in every aspect of life. Where there is a coal plant, there can be a more efficient coal power plant.
Climate denier's education is either deficient or they have a profit motive to spew garbage. What good is it debating morons?
It's a good philosophical argument that you shouldn't allow idiotic ideas to go unchallenged. Simply stating the superior argument and just letting others build on top of it should be enough.

Provably, economies which go Green improve over economies that don't.

You need to read a couple of books, but if the prospect of reading for a couple dozen hours scares you, there's nothing I can do.

All of those numbers and figures are irrelevant we are not going into global warming that is a myth.
238  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: July 27, 2014, 04:17:14 PM
Which Obama, Michelle or Barack?

What are you talking about?
239  Other / Off-topic / Re: Vod is calling people Pedophiles and Extorting them for money. on: July 27, 2014, 04:16:16 PM
From my point of view the threads you have created are nothing more than 2 men on the internet arguing over who's bigger and to be honest Vod is being the real man by keeping out of it. You have continued to tarnish Vod reputation which before these threads he had a good reputation. I haven't read through all the replies but I believe you should move on now you've made your point and Vod has made is.
240  Other / Off-topic / Re: VPNs - do you use it on: July 27, 2014, 04:12:09 PM
hidemyass accepts bitcoins

they are one of the VPN providers with the most servers&IPs

a server in almost every at least moderately known country

they keep the logs a while too long but if it's specific country IPs you're looking for, this is a VPN to go to

How do you know they are the most secure servers? I don't think they are I think the service which this website uses is one of the best and most secure around hidemyass have been criticized because they have been found to keep records of ips etc.
