Dump on bittrex with poor buy support. We need cryptsy and/or poloniex.

How do you arrive at poor buy support?

How does being on Cryptsy and or Poloniex increase buy support?

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

2.5 BTC buy support only, sell side is 37 BTC... more exchanges equals more diversity.

Just need one quality exchange, Poloniex.....Bittrex is slightly better than Cryptsy, Cryptsy is just plain slow when a coin is trading hot....

Maybe so but an exchange doesn't create buy support. Community interest does. Poloniex isn't going to add a coin if there is not already a demand and volume already.

Some times they add coins that they think have potential and not so much in demand, but rarely. ie. Burstcoin and Siacoin.....

Nedd help to mine eth\ shf
Been trying to mine Shift - SHF but I can't seem to get it to work.

I want to GPU mine. any good tutorial or guide around here?

Here a tutorial I made for solo mining: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1155284.msg12306597#msg12306597

It has bat files too.

there is a good amount of cheap video cards on ebay right, i might grab a few to setup a rig. how long is the mining period for ?

Until 2mil is reached, than a voting will occur to continue pow or pow/pos hybrid or total pos.

Thanks for the info, whats the current supply if im not wrong there is 18k in new coins everyday.

As of this typing, we are at 24,408. So, 24,408 x 3 = 73,224 approximately, that's not including uncles...

But pci-e risers would be good to keep temps low, which in turn decrease power leakage. Risers are cheap on ebay and amazon.

Yes, but 165/6=27.5 per gpu and i have about 65-70% of hash power for less than 50% price.

Impossible. I have 1 rig with 1 motherboard, 1 cpu, 1 sdd & 2 psu.
You have 50% of my price for your rig, only having a 65% hashrate, you need to continue that line until you meet my hashrate and get the total costs of THAT setup.

You'll see that in the longer end, it's more expensive. I've started out like that and had 5 rigs running for the same hashrate that i've got 2 rigs running now.
You will need 3x more PSU, SDD, motherboard, CPU's, .....

Fine for me, as i said earlier  Smiley I just can't setup a giant monster with 2 psu's and GPU'S on risers at work. I am prefer 6 ''usual'' computers in usual cases.

True, your job might start questioning you why you have a open system with risers...lmfao

I'm trying to reduce my 2x 850 watt corsair psus to one 1300 watt evga supernova that I got for $50 US, but still need to buy the cables for it...lol That will probably increase my efficiency to around 750 watts, I know there some power leakage running two psus oppose to a single one.

Maybe down clock the memory on the gpus, seem like the Eth hash algo is more responsive to core OC'ing than memory....

After mining with various algos i am more and more sure what 7850/7870/270 have the best speed/price ratio.

You always have to factor in scalability too. More hash power per rig. Because if you have to build two or more rigs with the same hash power of 6x 290x, you might end up using more power. Because you still have to power another mobo and cpu per rig, just my advice and opinion on it.

People in the crypto realm will always argue power efficiency and others will argue scalability. Like in servers or computing in the IT world, people will balance power efficiency, but put a premium on scalability. I side towards scalability personally.

To power each additional rig will be an extra 75 watts to 120 watts for the mobo, cpu and other components plus the cost of the base setup, even if those components are mostly at idle. Then you have to factor space issues also. Power cost kind of goes out the door once you have enough hash power to compensate, exception if your in an area where electricity is too expensive. My rate are 16.8 cents baseline and 33 cents peak/over base line per kwh in California.

I'm doing about 790 watts shown on a kill-a-watt meter for my current setup.

Damn if shift gets more support from the community watch people building rigs back again.

Lucky I kept one rig for gpu mining. I was slowly selling all my AMD rigs. lol

This seems like the second coming/renascence of gpu mining. Gpu mining hasn't been profitable since the early stages of X11 mining on Darkcoin.

Cool, I'm running 3x HD 7970's, virtually an old version of the 280x. I get 71 MHS for the 3 cards on SHIFT and 68 MHS on Ethereum.
71 each or all three? I have around 70 on 4x270, 71 for 3x7970 is pretty slow, i think.

UPD. Maybe not. You are a thousand shaders ahead, but probably lower clocked.

71 for all 3, I have 2x XFX DD core editions and a MSI. The MSI does 25 MHS by itself, the XFX's are slower at 22.5~23 MHS each (Usually that average for HD 7970/280x).

damn you guys are packing heat with all those gpus, i have been mining with one 270 just to get some extra coins.

6 Sapphire R9 290x Trixx at ~165Mh  Wink

Right on.

I feel the HD 7970/280x are better power efficiency/ hash power, but the 290x/390x are the highest single core for the hash power. Sad that the R9 Fury/FuryX/Nano don't do that well.

I'd like to have some HD 7990's or R9 295x2, that would make scalability way better, fitting more cores per rigs...lol

Im wondering if some of the ETH fans will be swinging by here.

I mine both this and ETH, I mix up my mining with going back and forth on them, I only have one rig at the moment...lol

How long will the testnet period last?

Getting the announcement finalized, it is at a couple days right now, but not final.

Ok. Just like to see that people that haven't mine Ethereum have a fair chance like all of us that know how already....

Yes, as a miner myself that doesn't really get the edge or the blocks early, I know how these things play out in practice with wallet delays and launches that only work on some systems, ninja launches. Most launches are extremely unfair regardless of the spin, but with a Test Launch everyone will get to test settings in advance and we can make this quite fair for anyone that wants to be a part of it.

Franko is testing Expanse now, so we should have more news very soon by the way. Smiley

Same here, even I get an early edge, it only last for an hour and two before the monster miners come in..lol

I notice a lot of unsavory things since mining at the start of 2011 to current times....

Hopefully, there will be a real time block explorer working before launch. Details of any premine, where the it's being used exactly and documentation of exact usage, if there is going to be a premine. If this get on an exchange, hopefully poloniex is the primary target.

Ok trying to solomine this bad boy on my W8.1 rig...

I did the following:

Downloaded installed "shift-windows-386"
Downloaded installed "ShiftWallet_0_9_1"

Wallet up and running and connected to 8 peers

Then followed the instructions here http://cryptomining-blog.com/5344-quick-guide-on-solo-gpu-mining-ethereum-on-windows/

Starting geth for solo mining:
– To listen for connections only on the local system type: geth --rpc --rpcaddr "localhost" --rpcport 8545

and

Starting ethminer for solo mining:
– For local system mining with ethminer on the same PC that geth is running on use: ethminer -G

However it doesn't appear to be mining.

Did i miss a step?

Do NOT use manuals for ethereum. Shift isnt ethereum. Look at ANN, there you will have all the instructions you need, please. This is NOT geth, there exists NO flag called --etherbase.

EDIT: got a bit upset, but please read the ann.

Regards

what net hashrate?

Would be nice to have a real-time block explorer and profit calculator?

Bittrex sucks!

Everyone thinks if a coin gets listed on Bittrex that it is a scam. We better focus on getting on poloniex or cryptsy.

...I heard the same for Cryptsy...

Poloniex is the best exchange at the moment....
I think this coin never hit Poloniex.

Get some positive energy, SHIFT will probably not get on poloniex soon, maybe when this coin builds a bigger community. We have already started great!  Grin

I don't think there is an urgency to get listed on Poloniex by any means necessary. If things progress and the devs deliver it'll go there eventually, Polo has a nice sense for quality coins.

Still would be nice to be on Poloniex... Cool

I too believe the reward structure should be modified to make it a proportional reward for every miner no matter when they got into the coin.

This is the basis of my 6 page proposal, along with suggestion of an actual person who could and would take over core development.

Roadmap, suggestions to increase BURSTs use, and a suggested structure for the core team.

Unfortunately there was not agreement on my proposal.

Not sure where to go from here. I might be willing to show my paper to the community, for feedback and mass group discussion. Thoughts?

I can remember that BinLaden proposed to use a reward depending on the difficulty. He was told that no coin does that, that this would be impossible. Your proposal is on the half way to his thought.

I would show your 3 hours work, just remove names, if that would be an obstacle to publish it.

Something has to be done, before the price goes further done!

there must be a change, but the first one should be, that another dev takes over.

Binladen talked so often that "his team" could takeover. until now, nothing happens.

and as far that binladen is not willing to share
a) his optimizer miner code
b) his way he found to mine with cloud and so much pb

he will be the only one that will profit from a proportional reward.

i´m not against this change, but atm binladen has a big advantage because of this knowledge and will increase this advantage with this change.

perhaps a white pager from him, how he do this, will help to bring orther big investors and new infrastructure services for cloud mining up.

but until he keep this knowledge for his own, i dont see any advantage of this change. but if he do, then i think this could be the turnaround.

Dev disapeared, so this change and a fork could be easy done, of bin releases this new version and the whitepaper.

So bin, tell us, why this all is wrong and that share your secrets will change nothing, exept loosing your advantage :-)

Having 51% or more of a network is totally against what decentralizing stands for in the crypto world, but if no one else is going to put PB's worth of data to mine, he will get the major share(like or not). To put it in perspective of the share he is getting, he is making more money than a college student working full-time at a minimum wage job at the current exchange rate of Burst on the market (if he is getting electricity and all the hdd space on the super low industrial prices).

I guess the main dev has personal issues he has to attend to, but he could have gave someone else the temporary control of core development (wallet updates, core code change, etc) and ability to start a new temporary ANN.

I'm just surprised no one has made a fork of Burst or hybrid it with others, ie. Siacoin would be nice or something similar.
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: September 06, 2015, 05:27:30 AM
I must apologize, for making no posts for such a long time.
I know y'all missed me, but I've been busy with other projects. Sorry!

Now I'm back! And I can see that you guys decided to let me have 51% after all.
You see, mining costs are greater than the returns, so miners will keep quitting, as price keeps dropping.

Oh, and I'm thinking of adding another PB to my pool, just to be on the safe side.

How are you affording PB's worth of data space? Do you get a good deal on HDD's or are you using your job's /business servers?

Right now, it's isn't cost effective to buy more hdd's to mine Burst. But depending on the future of Burst, it could be a great investment.

I personally stopped mining Burst, as it was't very profitable (have to be able to break even with electricity at least) with only 25TB of data space to mine with. The cost of electricity was kind of even that it's better just to outright buy Burst instead of mining it. I've switch to gpu mining Ethereum or Shiftcoin, more profitable at the moment.
