What is the feasibility of mining MAGI on CPU? Is it profitable? What are the default settings? Or is it more interesting to buy at exchanges? This project is old, the community is very active! Is there a way to download wallet faster? Bootstrap?

Blockchain can be downloaded during installation for windows by using the installer:

http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.3.1/m-wallet-1.3.1-win-setup.exe

Or direct download blockchain from here: http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/

Yes somebody knows a multipool who can or will add XMG? Or Joe can you do something with it?

Historical made us a free multipool service before; I'm not sure if he can activate that; it'll be a need of some time to add some more options, but I'll send him a PM.

Preview new Magi website on smartphone  Smiley

Is there any news other than this? Like a wallet update or when will go to the moon again?

We're working on the codebase and will post once we're there. Although no determined ETA I can tell at this time, we're targeting at at least accomplishing this, as well as a hard fork in this year.

@joelao95

Does Maggi support BIP65 and OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY?
I`m searching for coins, what can be traded on Blocknet DX secentralized exchange.Magi is one of my favorite coins and I think,if magi will be traded on Blocknet`s DX,it will be good for both projects.

Unfortunately BIP65 is not supported at this time.

btw the OP slack link isn't working. is that intentional?

I'll get that fixed.

hey  can i still use cpu mining XMG?

Yes, please do it. We continue to place this as a high-priority concern to be optimized.

By the way, this last month rise is very exceptional, what could be the reason, besides the trade bot?

Well, no one would tell the real driving force behind the market, and I am not convinced either by the role of the passive trading bots in this case that without active markets moving nothing would happen. Especially when it rises up by 3k satoshi by more than 20btc volume in the past days. What's point of the trading bots in this case???

There are some volumes recently that already reflects what's going on in the market. I don't want to be so conclusive, and I don't want any parts be conclusive on the trading bots' party either.

But even the price of 20 cent is already a very high price, mostly because of the BTC price.

I don't think such a statement can stand. We got pricing at ~1.5K satoshi few months ago, and now somewhat stabilized around ~ 5 - 6k recently, ~ 8 - 9k in just past few days. The difference already told the difference.

The whole crypto is expanding and going to be expanding into a larger scale no one can imagine, just like one can't tell the nowdays from last year. MAGI ranks around 300, and I don't think it is the 20 cent that would nail us down right here.

By overviewing the recent markets, there is an apparent progressing. Would does MAGI's pickup make it be a reason? We can't exclude the factor that efforts of making mining be available to general users here; despite how the things were coming out efficiently, what's important is we did it at somewhere. One can't just imagine the generic mining that this cryptoland is eager for, if not being aware much right now, soon or later, for the sake of decentralization. MAGI doesn't want to claim for a solution already done, but definitely made something and is trying to make it further more. Would there need a reason? This is surely something nontrivial!!

Lets see what will happen in the future with Magi.
Think Magi has a great roadmap, active dev/team & community. Thats why i'am a huge fan of this unique currency.

When we have completed the current roadmap I'm sure we never see 8K again.
Until that moment I guess everything is still possible.

You can try to let your coins grow by selling 15% of your coins at higher prices and buy back at lower prices.
But always keep a certain amount of coins because you have no guarantee of the price going lower.

If you don't want to gamble with your coins just keep them staking. It gives 3-4% profit a year.

By the way, I love tulips.

I don't think pricing is all, and we aren't targeting at pricing only either. OFC all depends what goal one is into the game for. I am keen to something in the long run and certainly want to drive fluctuating away that is exactly in part the goal we love to see.

The coinmarketcap markets page is missing few other exchanges. I did requests but seems being ignored. If more people send requests of updating extra exchanges, will get that page likely be updated that will somewhat bring us to a broad audience.

I'm feeling really bad about mining Magi - there's really no "profit" anymore.
Block reward barely even pass 2 XMG.

Ppl just don't want to get it Sad

Oh my, where are those happy times when you could mine 20XMG per day  Cry
Seems like many people are mining magi right now - same problem for me - good thing is that the price is pretty high - I did some maths. The $ value of 2XMG is way higher than the $ value of 20XMG 14 months ago when market cap was much lower - I get 2.5x based on 1,000,000 and 40,000 market caps

The great and unique thing about magi is that the harder it is to acquire, the higher the demand (price) increases, so those who have been mining a lot in the past get the reward on the demand.

I kept most of my mined magi in a wallet so the days when magi was worth 0.005 are now paying off =)

I usually find people get bored quickly if the mining rewards are not high - maybe we'll see better rewards again later on (probably if the price drops some day)

I mined when i was getting 50xmg per day and never sold 1 xmg and i will not do it now either i kept all and only sent few donations. I am happy that miners are now mining magi for future worth of it, that is a good sign. Same when ppl mined darkcoin 4 years ago with great loss (me included) well now they are happy.  I am not mining currently just minting. But i would mine if i have hash power that i used to have now i will rather buy some more and mint.
I am excited for future especially SegWit and magipay gateway, after that i hope that Joe can get some funding so he can pay team of devs to work for him and make his dreams come true even quicker. He alone does more job than groups of devs on 90% coins out there. It is going slow but bc of him and rest of the community around magi i believe in bright future. Smiley

Thanks bud, I wish we're just stepping up.

It'll also be my hope as to getting most rewards fairness if that is the case that matters much.

Hello Magi friends Smiley long time no see, glad to see Magi doing great. Great job guys Smiley congrats

It's been a while to get you lost; and I am sort of lost in handling logo editing too most recently.

Is magicoin still cpu only? Available is some mining profit calculator? I remember how this coin was made

I welcome again Smiley

There is a plan for PoW efficiency to be working efficiently. Welcome back. I remembered the days we had communication at some occasions, and nice suggestions.

I have had my wallet open for some time and I have approx. 14K of Magi and I have enabling minting.

Not staking because you do not have enough weight.

Do I need more coins, or do I need to eat more burgers,  or/and if so how many ?

Had the same question being inquired a while ago. And also came across one has coins in wallet for years that gets up online still with insufficient weight. There is an answer in FAQ:

Quote
For the regular PoS, "Not enough weight" means insufficient staking time. For Magi's PoS (mPoS), however, the cause can be correlated with the over-time staking. The latter is a typical issue raised by people from time to time. There is only one way to solve this which can be done via resetting staking from scratch: send XMG to another address in the same or another wallet. You may want to use the "Coin control" feature in order to select the input sources. Do not try to stake with a significant amount of XMG that mitigates the weight as well. Once this is done, remaining the wallet running shall gains some staking weights.

Is this project still alive ? Are the devs still working on it ?

I'm pretty sure devs are around.

I don't understand dude, this coin  is around since 2014 and is not dead but it's still at 1m$ market cap. Even dead coins got pump recently. Is it undervalued?

Obviously cap is not the only reason in support of a coin's existence.

We're getting up the MagiPay that we had before. We basically had a discontinuity in the past due in part to the SSL certificate and some other things. We do plan a long-term continuing and further development to have it integrated into normal use. The idea is to have parallel efforts in getting the MAGI being used in a relatively easy way. Let me know if one wants to deploy a specific integration; we might work that out together.

Also let me know any errors.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XMG] MAGI | CPU mining | mPoW | mPoS | [MagiPay] on: June 13, 2017, 11:37:24 PM
Code:
A scheduled hard fork targeting at improving decentralization: 1) securing the PoW network further (mPoW: magi's PoW); 2) refining PoS staking (mPoS: magi's PoS); and 3) a network bridging mPoW and mPoS (mTron).

Is there going to be any changes on how pow works? The bigger the total hashrate, the smaller block reward system stays the same?

It is expected some changes to the former, but the latter as an overall principle stays the same; the baseline implementation lies in not switching things off the line but gets the efficiency improved. By the way, welcome back.

I'm more interested in knowing how PoS-II compares with Ouroboros, specifically with respect to what they consider to be a fundamental design challenge.

"The PoS Design challenge. A fundamental problem for PoS-based blockchain protocols is to
simulate the leader election process. In order to achieve a randomized election among stakeholders,
entropy must be introduced into the system, and mechanisms to introduce entropy may be manipulated
by the adversary. For instance, independently of the solution, an adversary controlling
a set of stakeholders may choose to simulate the protocol execution trying different sequences of
stakeholder participants so that it finds a favorable chain continuation that biases the leader election.
To prevent this manipulation, honest stakeholders must be able to add sufficient entropy and
counter any lookahead performed by the adversary.
" - https://iohk.io/research/papers/#9BKRHCSI

I'm no coder, but I can read and understand the basics as well as comprehend the theoretical, and it seems to me that PoS-II does a very good job of addressing this "fundamental challenge". I'm hoping for serious treatment of the subject, which I think would also put PoS-II in a very favorable light.

MAGI's PoS implementation is based on modifying the coin age, and most of other PoS improvements play around this as well. The section "# PoS-II-V2" on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9991269#msg9991269 is center of what's been done.

Thanks for the document. I am not able to read it through all at this time but will do. I do expect some serious and fundamental improvements would be done to make the PoS better.
