[MagiPay - standalone payment gateway for Magi]

I have mentioned our standalone payment gateway sometimes ago; here is how it looks like. The expected delivery is about three weeks from now. This development is parallel to the coin itself as marketing feed and making 'real' things.

What's the 'real'?

The motivation is to create a real land for Magi. Any things can be speculative, instances existed here and there, now and then. Speculation is just about imagination, upon manipulated/semi-manipulated/virtual facts. Being the kind way we call it investment. Things should be pretty straightforward, without complicating the stuffs and confusing people's mind. It's pretty funny that value does be created from vacuum (theory of matters creation from null as proposed in physics is absolutely unique). When we talk about the value of gold, it exists in applications of jewelry, electronics, chemistry, medicine, to name a few, even food, and of course investment. When we talk about magi, it can be something (whether useful or not) missing in the space, for example, to achieve the fairness (absolutely relative to a counterpart) while I suspect my confidence in speaking of values by this argument. Additionally, let's talk something like warming up the room by mining, or evaluating CPU performance :-D, what else then, maybe as a course for one to learn CS science, but of course, investment. Seriously, as a medium of exchange, it should be exchangeable with stuffs.

How does it work?

1. A merchant creates an account at m-epays.com; after successful registration one can create a payment box;
2. m-epays.com issues MagiPay account details;
3. Integrate MagiPay to merchant's website;
4. Customer clicks the 'Pay with magi' button, MagiPay connects to m-epays.com server and requests for a specific payment box;
5. m-epays.com issues a MagiPay address and the total amount to be paid;
6. Customer sends coins to the MagiPay address;
7. Once the payment is received and confirmed, the server informs the successful payment;
8. After 1 hour upon the payment is received, the server automatically transfer the amount of magi to merchant's registered external wallet address.

What's special?

1. Fully configurable compared to the third party service provider, since we ourselves will manage the system; this way comes flexible features to be developed; so please suggest what we can do to make 'special'.

2. Using the payment service provided by MagiPay will be totally free, in comparison with cases which charge minimum 0.5%. Additional feature to make use of the free service is the inclusion of fiat/BTC-XMG conversion, which practically reduces charge accumulated during the process, where payment is done typically by, for example, the credit card.

We will make this system be usable in the first place. Going forward, magi will integrate this system with the planned marketplace, which would be something I can foresee. Though it's far from the right time to speak of the necessity where we invest our efforts, we just start from here.

I simply renamed blkindex.dat to blkindex.dat.backup and renamed blk0001.dat to blk0001.dat.backup, then fired-up the 1.1.0.2 wallet. It sync-ed up again no problems in under an hour. Doing stuff like this could get to be nasty though, as the blockchain reaches bigger proportions over time. I have in mind to start making an archive of XMG blockchain snapshots which might come in useful sometime.

The new blkindex.dat file is slightly larger than the one I backed up, which is expected. Curiously though, the new blk0001.dat file is a fair bit smaller than the one I backed up. Just an observation. The newer wallet is running just fine and already mined some POS money for me (I love the steady drip, drip, drip).

Back to testing and coding for me now. I have a good strong cup of tea here. I'm gonna need it Cheesy
Glad it's working. Smiley It's true syncing from scratch is a pain, option would be to create standalone downloadable block chain (similar to a snapshot).
1206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Magi |1st PoS-II |1st PoM | M7M CPU only [Poloniex] [Bittrex] on: December 03, 2014, 02:58:14 PM
I have been using version 1.1.0.1 of the wallet and have been so busy that I only just got around to trying out versions 1.1.0.2 and 1.1.0.2 Magitor.

Both these newer versions generate the error "Error loading Blockindex.dat" when run up, so I have reverted to using version 1.1.0.1 for now since it runs perfectly.

Have I missed something here? Do I have to backup/delete the blockindex.dat and allow the newer wallet to rebuild it? If so, then that is a major pain in the .... neck Wink

Did anybody else get this problem?

I need to test my new miner package on this new version of the wallet prior to release, so this problem is holding things up Sad

Ignore the Magitor for this moment, I will be looking into that. The regular wallet should be working fine:

http://www.coinmagi.org/files/magi-release/win32_magi_v1.1.0.2.zip

v1.1.0.2 is no major difference from v1.1.0.1 except nodes fixing. I have alternatively run 1.1.0.1 and 1.1.0.2 with the same block data, so I am not sure of solution "Error loading Blockindex.dat". To confirm if this is something because of the block chain, will need painful launch from scratch then. But instead of delete all block data, simply rename the fold "Magi" (windows %appdata%\Magi) to something else, and then fire up the wallet.

Here is a screenie! http://imgur.com/VlpU1Kx
Just click on unlock!
Te not check if you use the right wallet version!
Good luck!

Thanks! But I see my wallet does not have that option, I must be using an old version? (ubuntu_14_amd64_magi-qt_v1.1.0.1)

You can check version via Help -> About Magi; however, "Unlock" doesn't matter with version; do you have pass set for the wallet?

This is awesome.. I just fired up my miners in becausepool too, will get my two AMD8350 up as well by night.

I've often said that if I could afford an I7, I'd rather get two 8950's... and you did!   Lips sealed

These CPUs came with my GPU rig since last year, but haven't been mining effectively. Since I sold my GPU rigs, they were idle typically. Compiling magi wallet was their main task which were very effective with 8 cores. I did play around the CPU mining in the past, like PTS; and have been buying i5, i7 (burned few too lol), now they have a destination - magi.

Meantime, if anybody has some spare hash power to spread around, come and join me on BecausePool - it is a bit lonely at the moment and could do with some more support. The mining pools are a major asset and must not be neglected.

https://www.becausepool.com/index.php?page=home&action=&coin=xmg

Cheers,

Spexx.

Moved ~70 kh/s to them. Smiley

Nicely done and I see that the pool has now mined a couple more blocks too. The new version of my software supports spreading the hash across up to eight mining pools automatically, which should help. I have to work again today but then I have two days off and should finish my setup program very soon now. It is already fully functional and only needs a few "help" texts completed now. Watch this space! Cheesy

Price of magi is stable and has good merits to its deliverables. This coin is going to only gain ground from here on out. Price has to be three or five times higher to gain it's real shift towards reality.

200+ pages of bitcointalk thread plus all other threads and communities discussing this coin. Its bound to pick up mass steam as bitcoin doesn't have the fundamental developments magi has delivered.

Absolutely. XMG has strength in depth, plus the beauty of it is that anybody with a PC can join in. I have several friends who toyed with the idea of mining Bitcoin but were put off by the up-front costs involved, let alone the technical complexities. Now I have them mining XMG and enjoying the steady trickle of income from it.

It's fun and it's easy. Long live XMG.
Hey

I think most others will agree bitcoin hype has died off and something else will take its spot with the start of leading into bitcoin. Bitcoin will survive .. Something new is coming ... Or it is already here? Magi that is.

Major props on developments of the miners though.

It's a great compliment by comparison with bitcoin. Something out there still makes me worried here and there though. The least, we'll try to find places to spend XMG.

For whatever reason, IRC is still popular. It's like something where you can find a person next to you.

IRC predates the internet, it's beautiful!  One of the backbone protocols of the old academic net, the playground of hacktavists, warez-mongers, 0-day crowd and where I got all my satellite hacks back when I was Hexdef6!  Ah the memories.  Won't die for a long time, too useful, too much built in and around it.  Great system though.

Totally agree, now it is part of my life, chat with people around every day.

Spexx, don't forget to check the channel out (probably hang there for a day and see:) ):  https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#magi

Hello community, I missed a "hello" here.  Cheesy

This is Joe from Magi (XMG). I've been talking with Jackie about being dev, and I'm glad to be a part of the dev team. GroestlCoin is a great coin and it should be as is. Though I am yet to have ideas/plans, but I'd stay and provide support as possible as I can. It's a bit unfortunate that I have to maintain magi too that does spend me most of time right now; hopefully this is for now since it's a 'new' coin.

Please let me know any suggestions regarding GRS dev.

greetings and welcome in the world of groestlcoin. Smiley
i will check your coin now.

i bring up an old idea to hear your opinion: a social tab for the groestlcoin wallet:

i experimented a bit with the banksycoin source and managed to tweak the social tab form document in qt a little bit.
should we add this at some point, i personally would love to have it but i am not a pro-coder yet and don't know how and where to add the lines to add the IRC function.

in the source the irc function is linking to a couple of extra files which i haven't figured out 100% yet.
the forum / coin homepage and social icon links are just a bit of html code which can be changed in the form file in a couple of minutes.

so it was easy to do that (apart from IRC) when running it on the current banksycoin-qt.

Thanks for the idea, I will be looking into the implementation of this.

Very basic usage of IRC, this should get you started if you are unfamiliar with IRC.

All commands for IRC start with an "/" so if a line starts with that it's going to be handled as a command and not text that you want to send.
Any other characters will be interpreted as an message / text.

Some basic commands and how to use IRC.

Nice, this can be in the forum's guide section.

Very nice, but I don't have a single clue as to how that channel is supposed to work. There is no help whatsoever and it seems as though users are just expected to know what to do. I posted something yesterday but never saw anything else on it and have not seen anything else on it since either. Now I'm afraid to type anything for fear that I might be making myself look stupid Cheesy
I got the same feeling as you when I firstly used it. A wiki/FAQ might help at this point.
