221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 16, 2024, 10:25:32 PM
And it's just one week from this fight. But there are mix emotions whether tickets are going to be sold out or not. Garcia blame it all on Devin as he is not a crowd draw and it's just himself selling the fights.

On the other hand, fight is in New York, and the price is very expensive.

We will see then, if I'm not mistaken, the stadium can hold 19,000 so that is a lot of tickets to be sold.

It's just very expensive in New York. I remember checking tickets for their NBA team New York Knicks. That time the team was mediocre but the tickets are still more expensive than some of the top teams in the league.

Anyways, maybe it won't be sold out but pretty sure it should do decent PPV numbers if not great. But I do agree that Haney does not sell PPVs. Because he is obviously boring to watch. His last fight was sold out because he is a native of San Francisco. What makes a fighter really marketable is its ability to sell PPVs worldwide.

According to this article below, they are not selling well.
https://www.boxingnews24.com/2024/04/ticket-sales-for-haney-vs-garcia-a-trainwreck-in-slow-motion/

Quote
Price Drops = Panic Mode Recently, in a desperation move, DAZN dropped the PPV price from $80 to $69.99 for the Haney vs. Garcia event. But that might not be enough to save this sinking ship of the event. With 12 days to go, DAZN might need to slash the prices in half for the event to save this vessel from going under completely.

Source: Ticket Sales For Haney Vs. Garcia: A Trainwreck In Slow Motion - Boxing News 24 (https://www.boxingnews24.com/2024/04/ticket-sales-for-haney-vs-garcia-a-trainwreck-in-slow-motion/)

Haney choose Garcia to get a good PPV numbers but it seems like it's not doing well. It's different from the fight of Garcia vs Davis because both are warriors, not boring to watch in short. This fight, Haney is just too good and since he is expected to control the fight, it is also expected that it will go his way and would result to a boring fight.

And this could really be the point of contention of Ryan as we have heard news that he might pull out because of poor tickets sales. But it's done now, he might have to blame Oscar again for putting the fight in New York.

Most likely this is the reason as well why Garcia is trolling Haney in his last Twitter post.

It's funny that you will really need to pass and not get all serious with all the Ryan's tweet recently. Although it shows that there could be another mental breakdown coming in his fight after this fight.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It takes the balls... on: April 16, 2024, 10:00:27 PM
Yes, not only balls but money as well. Most people who want to accumulate Bitcoin don't have enough money for the accumulation and that's why they miss the dips while others who have money often miss the dips in hope to see more intense dips. Bitcoin is already down and anyone who knows that it's a great opportunity should try his/her best to accumulate some of it.

Yeah, more than anything else, we definitely need money to buy in dips. And most of the time, people are willing to buy because we know how the price will go in the future. But for some, the timing must be off and so we all go back to DCA and there's nothing wrong with that.

And it's not like the dip is huge, the price is still above $60,000 but if someone here has that huge capital then why not buy it as the OP suggested. And this could be the last opportunity, halving is just days away and so this is a perfect chance for everyone before it's too late as we might see a parabolic rise after this.

224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tank Davis Vs Frank Martin WBA Lightweight Title June 22 HoustonTexas on: April 14, 2024, 09:36:23 PM
It's supposedly Frank Martin vs Shakur Stevenson but it was called off. I think Martin is not ducking Shakur, but incentive wise, it was reported that he is going to make at least $1 million and could not be satisfied of that amount.

So for sure there are a lot of upside for him to go and fight a even more dangerous boxer in Tank Davis. They have history as said, sparring sessions that goes and there are reports that Martin hold his ground and give Tank Davis all he can eat. But for me, Martin is more of a volume puncher and he doesn't carry power to knock down Tank Davis and on the other hand, he could taste his first defeat here.

As Martin had previous experience inside the ring with Davis, though only during sparring sessions, we can give that he has somehow idea what Davis can do, what strengths/weaknesses he has. And it may help him think of strategies on how to possibly defeat him in actual fight.

Not the same with this boys is sparring, even if there is a video going around as whether Martin got the better of Tank, or some stories around saying that Tank was mad and wanted to get revenge, this sparring it might not be enough to assessed who are going to win if this is a real fight.

But on this fight, more than likely, Davis will be the heavy favourite. Let us see what odds bookies will give to this match. Both are undefeated and on this fight, one will suffer his first loss. That is, if the fight will not end in draw.

So far no odds yet, but I do agree that Davis is going to be a big favorite here. I wouldn't be surprised if the line goes to 4:1 Martin as underdog. Too early for Frank Martin to chase the likes of Tank Davis or even Shakur Stevenson. He needed more experience under his belt to fight this elite at 135.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: April 14, 2024, 09:06:38 PM
There is no denying that to be a great boxer and cementing his legacy, he will have to cross that border to the US and fight and let's see how he will fair with the Americans. He could beat them all for all we know and what manner.

But the thing is that we don't know how Inoue is when face unfamiliar situations, maybe he had feel this before when he fights in the US and that's why he doesn't want to experience it again.

So far the toughest challenge Inoue experienced was his first fight against the legendary Nonito Donaire and it was also in Japan. Inoue passed that test with flying colors. So it shows he can adjust and handle very tough situations. And he just became better after that. But I expect his body to start diminishing slowly as he age.

All of Inoue's fights outside Japan were dominant victories and ended in knockouts. I think Inoue is willing to travel everywhere as shown in the past. But Bob Arum and ESPN has to give higher purse if they want Inoue to fight outside Japan because the country is also very rich and is capable of bringing big events at home.

I would agree that money could be what holding Inoue's to fight outside Japan. But maybe what fans and other former boxer want for him is to be expose with different audience. Again, we don't want him to be compare to again Asian great, Manny Pacquiao. But Manny took the hard road and make a name for himself by fighting bigger names in the US.

And now that he is in the peak of his career, he should expose himself to the US boxing fans. Yes, there are Saudi and other nations that he can fight, but there is no denying that US is still the home of boxing.

227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is It Time to Buy More BTC? on: April 13, 2024, 10:19:51 PM
In the last hour, the price of bitcoin saw a drastic decline. There are a lot of bitcoins being dumped and this has set the market on fire. I'm not sure if you really dare to make the decision to buy a lot when the price is dumping like this, but I think this is the right time.

Another correction, price is right pegged at $62,000. And I don't see it though declining further. Maybe there are negative news that pull the price down, but it won't last long as we are near the halvening day.

The price fell almost to $60k in the last hour, while a potential decline is still possible ahead of the halving. The market really seemed to be on fire in the last 2 days, even I and all holders had to accept the fact that my estimated asset value dropped significantly. So, if you really want to get returns in the long term then get bitcoin at the current discount price. Don't ignore the opportunity.

Yes, most likely the case of nearing the halvening and then price decline. Not sure what the logic behind this, maybe some whales wanted to control the market and bring the price down before the date itself. But still though, average joe like the majority of can take advantage of this decline and continue to accumulate as much as we can. It's not bad to be greedy at this point and exploit the given opportunity to us.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Illegal Books on: April 13, 2024, 09:22:16 PM
There are a plethora of illegal books, many run by college students, young adults and even teens. How secure are these websites??
What I am really asking is how easy (possible) would it be to hack the site and change a users balance without being detected??

Haven't heard of this kind of bookies that you call illegal, not sure how they are being promoted online as obviously, there are a lot of legal and great sport bookies that we all know and why take the risk on using fly-by-night bookies by college students?

Maybe this is just within the campus and not globally though, otherwise it will have been taken down already. And for this illegal bookies, they just go and be under the radar as they don't want to be exposed and be on the authorities prying eyes. Of course, it's going to be easy to hack if they want to. So is bewildering for someone to used them. Maybe if you are a newbie in sports bookies. But if you have years of experience, I doubt that you will fall for this trick.

230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Satoshi forces the price of bitcoin to continue to rise over time on: April 12, 2024, 11:30:55 PM
Halving is a way for satoshis to force the price of bitcoin to continue to rise over time. The fewer rewards given to miners will make bitcoins harder to obtain and rarer as time goes by. This is a smart strategy that Satoshi had and I just realized it.

Let's say he intentionally design that the coins be 21 million and it will be halved every 4 years.

The weakness of this strategy is that when Bitcoin fails to reach a high price after the halving until the next halving occurs, this can damage public trust and also harm miners. However, this weakness no longer applies because Bitcoin always has a new ATH at every halving phase that occurs. So, I believe the price of bitcoin will continue to skyrocket in the future.

What do you think?

No, I don't think that there is weakness in terms of the miners and it harm them. Miners are going to make money as certain point, they could be break even in the bear market, but once we are in a bull run, their business will continue to operate. Although there could be some miners that might close their business in the incoming bull run because their machine will have to adjust to the difficulty because of the halving.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making bets with my stupid friend on: April 12, 2024, 11:05:28 PM

Do you make bets with your friends?
What do you think about this experience  ?

At one point in our life, we will encounter this kind of individuals who become our friend. And so from my experience, this is just normal. There are games that I will play with them, not sure if everyone is familiar with Mahjong and sometime we will argue about certain rules or if I found that he is cheating.

But at the end of the day, even if you shout and curse some words, you are still friends and go and move forward to have another gambling session with them and it could be the same outcome, LOL. And sometimes our close neighbors will think that we are in a heated argument and they are all surprise that when we come out, we're all happy and joking around.  Grin
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 12, 2024, 10:47:33 PM
I thought Boots is one of those fighters that will remain loyal and worships Al Haymon even if there are bigger offers outside. Well, at least he proved his loyalty in the past when he rejected the offer of Crawford for the WBO belt and then bark like a stupid dog when Crawford unified all the belts and clearly has no intention of remaining in the division.

Boots has the skills and power but he is untested. Eddie and DAZN have the deepest pockets in the sport while also partnered with Saudi Arabia. Maybe Crawford should vacate all the remaining belts now and let the young guns fight each other.

Hopefully with this move, Ennis will be more active this year under Eddie Hearn. Who knows, maybe we can see him and Benn fighting this year?

As long as Ennis opponent is not just second tier boxer and again being active, I think this is a good move for him. The thing with Hearn though is that his fighters are not exclusive for him, I mean he can try to negotiate an fight others in the other stable to exposed his boxers.

So let's see who will be his initial opponent being a Matchroom boxer.

You can listen in this interview and see what his plans his,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8bsQ-pGFbg

And it's obvious that he want all the smoke at 147 lbs, Crawford, Spence. He can get this fight if the money is right. The good thing is that he will stay active now, and he can go global, meaning it will include exposure in Saudi as Eddie Hearn is one of the most powerful promoter in that side of Middle East now.

If we look at the rankings, the Canadian Cody Crowley is his mandatory.

Yes, even before that video surfaces, I was hinting that a Cody Crowley fight is good for Ennis, just to stay active and answer all those criticism of not fighting his mandatory since he has been reinstated as a full pledge champion now and not just a interim belt holder.

So this could be a great fight, and he can show his tools and wares and what's the hype is all about for him and why Crawford says that he doesn't want to fight Ennis for now. And then after Crowley, he can call Spence and Bud Crawford again and for me he deserves a title shot or at least bodies should put pressure specially on Crawford to fight Ennis.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 18th MAY 2024 re-scheduled on: April 12, 2024, 10:08:04 PM
On the press conference, Tyson Fury has certainly made a very good argument on size and why being bigger is certainly always better in boxing if the fight is between fighters of similar measure of capabilities.

But similar measures of capabilities is hardly found in boxing. Boxers mostly have individual characteristics. But despite this, despite the difference, size really matters. Size is a big factor. I agree with Fury that size really matters. It can't be brushed off as a negligible advantage. After all size isn't just size. It could mean strength, power, reach advantage, height advantage, etc. All these matters so much in boxing.

In this particular bout, although I'm also a fan of Usyk, I don't think it's hard to predict that Tyson is probably winning.

I mention similar measure of capabilities implying that they are in top 5 in their weight division. This does not need to be 100% similar measure, there will be differences like you mentioned. However yes, the argument is if Fury and Usyk is compared to someone who has not fought a big name in the heavyweight division would clealy imply that it is not in a similar measure.

In any case, agreed on your prediction. Tyson Fury also will be quicker for the fight after his diet from beer and junk food hehee.

@hilariousetc. Is Tyson Fury doing something similar as Muhammad Ali where he confuses his enemies before the fight?

Not sure what you mean by this, but I don't see Fury confusing Usyk here, on the contrary, in that press conference, he says that a big men will always beat the smaller one and size matters. So obviously he is stating that he is going to beat Usyk because he is the bigger and better boxer.

And with his size, it can also be used as a tool, in the Wilder fight, Fury has a weight advantage of 42 lbs, and if he weight this much here, it will be clearly like a CW in Usyk, fighting a super Heavyweight and it will illustrate in this fight as he will used all that to push Usyk and put him in the corner.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: April 12, 2024, 09:25:39 PM

Inoue's team mentioned before that they will take 2 to 3 title defenses and then they might consider moving up again to 126. I am also expecting Inoue to move up in weight next year.

The difference though is Haney is still young and he just moved up in his second weight division while Inoue already is 6 divisions above once he enters 126. But it should be doable. However I guess 126 is Inoue's final division as he is already in his early 30s. It will be more risky to continue moving up in weight while fighting bigger and heavier opponents.

As long as the boxer can take his power in the higher weight category that's still fine, it will only be stopped once they can hurt their opponents in their new weight division, like in the case of Canelo against Bivol, so Inoue can challenge himself and go further, until he is stopped by one of the top boxer in that division.

We don't know how far Inoue can go because he is a very disciplined fighter and he has good skills featherweight will be the most challenging division, when Pacquiao was campaigning in the lightweight I thought he could not hold out but he proved that he was an extraordinary until he reaches the super welterweight.

Even if he is so discipline, his body has limitation as how far he can get it to mature and put added poundage. Manny is very different, it was like his genes is build for boxing. I will agree that maybe at 126 lbs, Inoue could have pushed his body already.

But let's see if he moves up in that division and see how his performance is. Maybe there is power still in both hands, but the competition is obviously getting harder and tougher and at 5'5 in height, he could be physically at a disadvantage.

The only thing I doubt about Inoue is what will be his performance outside Japan since he always fight inside his homecourt which give him advantage. Maybe if he can able to fight on US and take those big opponents then maybe we can really compare his greatness to Pacquiao just like what other people say that he is more better than the legend. Many is really built different since he accept those big challenges on his career and we can say that they defeat those big names on the industry that's why he became well known and the only 8 division champ in history of boxing.

But lets try to see on what Inoue could able to do if he can still dominate if he go up. But its undeniable that he is so good, he just need to prove that he's more good by try to get out on his comfort zone and bet those well known guys in this era.

He fought a few fights outside of Japan, and if I'm not mistaken, including the WBSS. But I do agree that if he really wanted to reach out and become a global superstar like what Manny did, he could fight out of his comfort zone and go to the US and see how boxing fans are going to love him.

But it seems that Bob Arum can't convince him, and so he let him decide to fight in Japan for now. Instead of losing his prize pupil, and probably the Japanese culture has something to do with it and just remain inside. Hopefully at least one of his bigger fights if he moves to 126 lbs should be in the US.

236  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: "Everyone" is all wrong about Bitcoin... on: April 11, 2024, 11:17:41 PM

Almost everyone is wrong, and only because; Bitcoin is not at all about all the deep dips but the stabile growth with the high peaks. That's it and that's all of what most of them just don't get.

But if you look at it, everything is wrong with Bitcoin specially in the beginning,

- Founder is anonymous, we just know connotate Satoshi Nakamoto with Bitcoin
- Magic internet money
- Mt. Gox the first big crypto exchange was hack and up to this time we are still being haunted by it.

And so with that, everyone has it's pessimism, others who make money have sold early and now regretting their decision. Prices goes of the roof in the last 10 years, and now we are looking at least 6 digits as it's next all time high. With that, no one really knows that after all this wrong and whatnot, Bitcoin still survive and continue to grow.
237  Economy / Gambling / Re: What are your expectations for Casino coins in this coming bull run? on: April 11, 2024, 10:43:44 PM
...
To be honest, I don't have high hopes for any casino coin, I just want to know from the casino coin that we have, will this coin follow the bullish trend later? Then will try HODL $SHFL.

I don't have high hopes as well, most of these casino tokens will stay where they are, and some will even lose their value. This is surely the fate of many, but maybe (just maybe) one or two casino tokens will stand out and make something more. Everyone would love to know which of all the casino tokens around is that hidden gem, but it's impossible to predict something like this. All that's left is to hold on to tokens we already have and hope for the best. To be honest, I would not recommend anyone to invest in casino tokens at this time, Bitcoin (and some other coins) have a much better chance of making a good profit... and that comes from someone who loves dividend-based casinos with their house token.

Yep, this is also what I thought, and I don't know, some there are casino coins or at least investment that stuck to my mind as they have a scam accusations and that signature campaigns after running for years have disappeared and not sure if that casino still exist today.

It's good though if a gambler remains loyal to that casino and chooses to use their native token to play and earn if they allow some kind of stakes or the so called vault system wherein they will look it for a certain period of time. However, for the success? I think most gamblers still prefer to used BTC to play despite the high tx fees that we experience last year.

How can it be called a hobby when you are losing huge money and then it takes emotional toll on you? Hobby should make you happy, yeah of course there are gamblers who want to be entertain, pass the time and have some fun playing, but still though, it will not feel good if you are burning money on whatever kind of gambling you play.

And for those who called it a hobby, no offense but it could be one of the worst hobby that a person can satisfy himself.

My question to us right now do you think Bitcoin will eventually erase the commercial banking sector???

Bitcoin can become successful on annual basis but they cannot completely erase the use of banking system because still people are in favor of using bank. Most of the people are not familiar with bitcoin so I think acceptance of bitcoin for them will be difficult at start as old people rarely trust digital money and digital investment.

Bitcoin was considered as a currency in past but now you will know that instead of using it as a currency people are using it as an investment  tool and I think in future it will just be use to increase the value of cash.

I don't understand what you mean by annual, but Bitcoin has been with us for more than a decade already and it's proven to be a good investment or store of value and even hedge like in the pandemic wherein I believed some of the rich and wealthy people put their money on Bitcoin so that it won't loss any value.

But as for making the banking sector obsolete? No, that's not what Bitcoin is design in the first place. It was originally for P2P and a payment scheme. It's that people in early days found out that they can exchange and trade it with money and make profits. But it's good to see that some banks are cool with Bitcoin right now, not all of them but a small percentage and that is good enough for us.
