222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Decentralized.Tech - Cryptocurrency Information and Social Network on: June 25, 2017, 02:47:51 AM
Some Updates:
- Links and Technologies can now be associated with more than one category and subcategory. This was done because many technologies/websites/etc. fit under multiple categories, and I do not want to limit accessibility/categorization unnecessarily. I completely reprogrammed the category and subcategory logic and databases.
- The Market Data page was made to be mobile friendly. It lost some functionality such as exporting data to csv/pdf/etc, searching by cryptocurrency name/symbol, and the 7 day price graph. It is my intention to add these features back whenever I get a chance. You can still search by cryptocurrency name on the graphs page, which has all the same information + graphs. Making the web site visually pleasant on mobile phones is a priority for me over functionality. Expect more changes on these fronts.
- The web site's efficiency was greatly increased overall, but I will still be working on improving it. That alone is a big project.
- A development milestone has been knocked off the list!!! See below:

Introducing User Badges
- Badges earnable by interacting with the Decentralized.Tech web app.
- These show up both under your user profile and by any post that you make in the forums. I will probably add them to your portfolio overview page as well. Smiley

Knowledge Dropper
Earned when you achieve 100 approved submissions (Information, Links, and Technologies submissions are all counted)

Portfolio Wizard
Earned when you reach #1 on the 7 day portfolio leaderboards

Keyboard Warrior
Earned when you have made 100 forum posts.

Techno Hipster
Earned when you rate 100 Links or Technologies.

Note: These images are from my development server. On the actual web site, the DecentralizedTechBot has only earned the Keyboard Warrior badge because he has made 800+ posts, and he still has the admin badge that he has always had... because he is a boss. Everything the DecentralizedTechBot does and posts is done automatically via code... he is exactly as his name states... a robot. I only use the web site with my username CoinHoarder. Cheesy

224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which will be the dominating scalable coin? (NEM vs. IOTA vs. Radix vs. EOS...) on: June 19, 2017, 02:46:16 AM
Pruning != Scalability

Sure, you can chop a hole in the bottom of the bucket to dump some water, but it can still only fill up as fast as your tap.

Pruning allows you to manage the size of the block chain over time, not how many transactions it can process per second.

Although this is correct I still think that a scalable coin should also have pruning.

If the blockchain gets to large more and more nodes cannot afford anymore to save the whole blockchain.
This not only leads to centralization but the network would finally also get very slow or even crash as millions of clients cold try to request or send data to very few remaining full nodes at the same time that cannot handle that load anymore.

Good point that although pruning is not all that needs to be considered when scaling a cryptocurrency, it is still a good feature to have as far as optimum scalability goes. Smiley
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [open beta] Decentralized.Tech - Cryptocurrency information and social network on: June 19, 2017, 01:45:55 AM
I visited your website and i must confess that i am really impressed about the way it is arranged though there are not many coin listed yet but i checked it thoroughly and i could not see the link to where a new coin can be added for you to get it listed.

How can a new coin get listed on your website.

Hello,

What coin were you looking for? I use Coin Market Cap's API and there are around 890 cryptocurrencies on it which are automatically added to my site. It's definitely not all of them, but quite a bit of them for sure. Right now I do not have a feature for someone to add a cryptocurrency, but maybe I will implement that feature in the future. Right now the easiest way to get your coin on my website is to ask CMC to add it. Smiley

Any and all suggestions are more than welcome. I still have a lot of work to do on it.

Thanks for checking out the site!!

Hello all,

I would like to welcome you to a web site I have been developing! I am still putting the final touches on everything, but I would like to invite ya'll to come try out the website if you would like! Things are still a little rough around the edges, so please pardon the mess! This web app is powered by Meteor and written with much love and frustration in Javascript, Node.js, CSS, and HTML.

Features:

Market Data (similar to Coin Market Cap) - Mobile Device Friendly

Price and Volume Graphs (24 hours, 7 days, and historical)

Portfolio Value Tracking and Discussion (keep your portfolio private, or view and discuss any certain public portfolios)
(public portfolio values are obfuscated, and other users can only see the percentage of each coin held in a portfolio- not the amount owned)

Blog Posts (sortable by various social metrics, and discuss specific blog posts)

Portfolio Leaderboards (the best performing portfolios the past hour, 24 hours, and 7 days)

Cryptocurrency-specific Information, Statistics, Links, and Discussion
(filterable by cryptocurrency)

User Dashboards (portfolio statistics, market data for followed cryptocurrencies, and recent replies to followed topics/posts. Eventually, everything that is followed will show up in some way or another here. Feedback as to how to implement it is more than welcome.)

General Cryptocurrency Links, Reviews, and Discussion (both individual discussions and category discussions)
(filterable by category, subcategory, and applicable cryptocurrencies)

Decentralized Technologies, Reviews, and Discussion (both individual discussions and category discussions)
(filterable by category, and cryptocurrencies implemented in)

Forums (with labels for topic subjects for categorization within subforums, topics are sortable by social parameters such as likes, follows, etc., and there is the ability to reply directly to a reply in a forum topic rather than to the topic itself.)

Profiles (with avatar support, personal information, social metrics, and social media profile links)

The following entities are both likable and followable, with social metrics under a tab in your profile:
Cryptocurrencies
Portfolios
Links & Reviews
Technologies
Users
Forum Posts

Development Roadmap:
- Higher Efficiency (lowering the latency and load time)
- User Dashboard (with a news feed for anything that you have followed, and market data for cryptocurrencies you have followed)
- Increased Mobile Compatability (making sure the site looks good on mobile phones will usurp utility via features)
- Advanced Portfolios (which can keep track of the values bought and sold at, and track exact performance of a portfolio)
- Remove Reliance On CMC API (aggregate market data directly from exchanges rather than CMC's API)
- International Support (alternative language and currency support for international users)

Your feedback is more than welcome. I look forward to seeing you guys around the site.  Grin
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: not even a scam on: June 17, 2017, 01:24:18 AM
You claim a more fair comparison is bitUSD versus Tether, but that is an unfair comparison. You can't compare Tethers to bitUSD... they are two completely different things.

One is fully decentralized, and pegged by free market dynamics on a decentralized exchange.

The other is fully centralized, and pegged by a promise from a company to maintain the peg on centralized exchanges.

There are some big differences there.

Even comparing Tether adoption versus bitusd adoption is flawed. Tether started with a large amount of private investment capital, and was able to instantly use that to create a large amount of liquidity. I speculate that it also used that to gain trading pairs on some exchanges, because it almost instantly became a "base" pair on some of the biggest exchanges trading against multiple cryptocurrencies on each one.

bitUSD on the other hand has to slowly and organically grow over time due to its free market based peg. As usership grows, market depth and liquidity will increase, which will also reduce the spread and volatility. But it will take a while to reach "critical mass" where the design works optimally.

The way to evaluate bitUSD is to look at its market cap compared to the total market cap of crypto, and to evaluate it over time. If the total crypto market cap doubled, there should be twice the need for bitUSD. If bitUSD as a percentage of total crypto decreases over time, then the market is proving that bitUSD is flawed.
By your own stated metric, bitUSD is actually doing pretty well.

Oct 2014:
bitUSD:
Market Cap: $392,539
Bitcoin:
Market Cap: $5,241,480,575

Today:
bitUSD:
Market Cap: $4,252,534 +1083%
Bitcoin:
Market Cap: $41,066,547,811 +783%

But your metric is flawed because it doesn't account for market dynamics. Right now there is higher demand for bitUSD and Tethers due to the bearish nature of the cryptocurrency market, as evidenced by ballooning market caps of both in recent time. When the cryptocurrency market is bullish, their market caps will shrink. This metric will be different if taken at a bearish or bullish time in the market.

Not to mention the combined network effects of all cryptocurrencies (and even Bitcoin alone) is exponentially larger than the network effect of bitUSD, therefore they will grow at a faster rate. Bitcoin's (and other cryptocurrencies) usage, value, and market cap growth is effectively 98% based on its network effect.

You keep citing that bitUSD is highly volatile, but fail to see that it is way more than stable enough for one of its main uses (which is the main reason why people use Tether too) is to hedge from cryptocurrency volatility or a cryptocurrency bear market. Comparison versus crypto was meant to show that it is quite stable over the long run... which again is backed up by historical data. It always comes back towards $1 even though there might be small fluctuations in its value away from $1, and thus it is a good asset to hedge against a bear market. It serves this purpose well.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: not even a scam on: June 16, 2017, 06:49:54 PM
Ok... it seems there is some things I still need to clear up.

Not weeks ago, months ago. Initially you stated I was misunderstanding it, but then I posted the link which confirmed what I said. But I think the free market will prove me right. So we will see in a few years who is right.

You were wrong in stating people need to pay $2+ to get $1 of bitUSD. People don't need to pay $2 for $1 worth of bitUSD unless they want to bet on the price of the Bitshares token rising against the dollar. If they don't want to do that, then they can simply purchase $1 of bitUSD off of exchanges for approximately $1.

We disagree on the interpretation of the past few years. It has 3 times been below $.80 and almost always is trading about $1.00 or below $1.00. I do not call that stable.

You can say what you want, but historical price graphs show both being quite stable compared to other cryptocurrencies and crypto assets.

Compare the stability of bitUSD compared to other cryptocurrencies and crypto assets.... the difference is obvious. They might not be stable enough for your liking, but they seem to be stable enough for a lot of people based off of usage statistics.

Apparently, bitUSD, bitCNY, etc. (plus all other smartcoins) are stable enough to garner $1,861,211 worth of volume, and a combined smartcoin market cap exceeding $14,788,736. The volume metrics do not even account for trading against user issued assets like Open Ledger's IOUs. A large percentage of volume is therefore not tracked on Coin Market Cap, and the total Bitshares DEX's volume is $9,741,567.

https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bitshares-asset-exchange/
Click on each asset to see the Market Cap of each tracked Smartcoin.

More accurate volume statistics:
https://cryptofresh.com/assets

In summary, although they might not always trade $1 to $1, Smartcoins are sufficiently stable enough for their respective use cases (hedging cryptocurrency investments, ecommerce, etc.)

But I think the free market will prove me right. So we will see in a few years who is right.

Many people have said the same for the past few years, and they are slowly being proved wrong. You are late to make such accusations IMO. Preston Byrne and company are slowly but surely being made to look silly for such conjecture.
230  Economy / Services / Re: I will pay you $5 in BTC for your help on: June 16, 2017, 04:30:12 PM
I would add under "General Cryptocurrency Physical Goods and Services" also a collectibles area.
At mining I am not sure what "stats" was intended for, but hardware hash rate stats for every algo and as many mining HW as possible would be a big job, but could be made at least partly by user submission, giving your website some good extra traffic.

Good luck with this, it looks very interesting.

Yes, a lot of the data is intended to be aggregated by user submission. However, over time I will add any APIs that I can find to automate as much data as possible.

I do have "Collectable Wallets" under "Wallets" which is meant to be applicable to physical cryptocurrency collectables. I suppose that I can nuke that subcategory and make a more general "Collectable" subcategory under the Physical Goods and Services category. Good suggestion, as I agree that it is more applicable under the physical goods category.

Sorry it seems to me that has misunderstood about this,Just forget my suggestion that earlier,My advice now, you are not just giving the facilities of btc and usd market prices whether it can be here "Cryptocurrency-Specific Market Statistics / Data" plus Current Price altcoin (ETH, XRP, NEM, ETC, LTC, Dash and others)
thanks and sory

No problem, but cryptocurrency-specific data is meant to be data only regarding specific cryptocurrencies. For more general market data, I already have a page for that as posted earlier in the thread:

Users will also be able to "follow" a cryptocurrency and access a more personalized Market Data page with the same statistics.

I will give you an extended timeframe to make another suggestion if you like.

Thanks Smiley

You know bitcoin users exist in various countries spread all over the world, I'm so happy when you also provide information about bitcoin ATM locator around the world, But I think it would be great if you also give info about list of local exchanger in every country? Because I think there are many bitcoin users in different countries who dont know local exchange sites in their country?
So they usually use world exchange like btc-e, poloniex, etc, to exchange their bitcoin to fiat
You can place Exchange Local in General Cryptocurrency Local or General Cryptocurrency Exchanges

I think this is more applicable under the exchange category.

Thanks for you suggestion, I will add that subcategory!

I feel like I have received enough feedback for now, and it is time for me to get back to work!

I will allow about 5 or 10 minutes for anyone to submit new suggestions (incase someone is currently working on a reply). After that time, I will no longer be paying for suggestions.

Thanks!

Add a translation sub category , Any user from any country read in local, you can install google translator in your site .

Cryptocurrency-Specific Social Media Links

Instagram

Cryptocurrency-Specific Search Statistics

Total Visitor counter or Live visitor counter with country

Cryptocurrency-Specific Market Statistics/Data:
Current Price (USD)
Also add option to check cryptocurrency prices in all local currencies Like USD, INR, AUD, JPY, EUR etc

Addy: 38kAb47ZLKJDkuU5xoTf4d88P4nVqypJLN

Hi,

Someone else mentioned adding currency conversion and translation. I am not sure if I can delay the website much longer for such features, but I will definitely add this sort of thing to my development roadmap for the web site. Allowing more global access to the web site would be great- the more the merrier.

Currency conversion is a given, but I'm not sure translation features are needed. Don't most browsers automatically do this, or am I spoiled from using Google Chrome? When I load a web page that is not in English, Google Chrome asks me if I would like Chrome to translate it for me.

I suppose I can add Instagram because it is pretty popular. I just didn't want to go too crazy with social media links, seeing as though there are around 20 or 30 decently popular ones. On each user's profile, you can share your profile information to many Social Networks- including:

Thanks for the idea regarding a visitor counter. I will think about adding something along those lines later down the road. This website is a web app written in javascript/node.js with data that updates reactively, so those types of stats would be easy/cool to add to the footer of the web site.

Thanks for your help! Sending $5 now. Smiley
236  Economy / Services / Re: I will pay you $5 in BTC for your help on: June 16, 2017, 03:48:15 PM
Are you making a website mate? maybe a bitcoin exchange.
if that is so this will be a hell of a good website about crypto currency, because it is almost complete informations about cryptos for me.

just like to add up my idea if this will make sense to you.

'Electricity cost of mining per day/week/month' @ Cryptocurrency-Specific Mining Statistics
Hello,

I assume that you mean the total spent on electricity securing the blockchain given a global average price of electricity?

I guess the formula for per day would be: (Total Hash Rate / Most Efficient Hardware Speed) * Most Efficient Hardware Electricity Usage Per Day * Global average price of electricity

I could probably add that down the road, because I do plan on eventually making a more intensive mining section eventually. It won't be available on launch though, because I already have too much to do in between now and then. The more I add, the more I delay the website launch, and believe me... I have added a lot since I started development! I keep getting new ideas, lol. Cheesy

Changing categories and subcategories is a fairly simple edit for me, but this is a bit more complicated for various reasons.

Thanks for the idea anyhow. Bitcoin address?

The General Cryptocurrency Gambling section, you should mention, works with whom you are there, because usually in casinos, gamblers are less interested in new casinos, you have to work with "evolution gembling" because there are already many people who believe, And it will also be interesting Interest from middle-class gamblers to top-level gamblers,
And I am a gambler

Thank you

15SZUgqFVrZ1m2VyKXD1F959yxDd7PvrAJ

I don't understand, I am sorry. Can you try to explain it differently?

Maybe OP would like to consider adding in jobs section in the Cryptocurrency Services category, there are quite a few sites that hires freelancer and the payment is being paid in bitcoins, signature campaign in forum bitcointalk is another way to earn some bitcoins too, Hopefully my idea would be useful to you.

BTC address: 3BdK9j3G7Q3pX8EBTDSkizeVqBCkfQ4i65

Job Boards is already under Digital Goods and Services. Sorry but it was already on the list. :\

Also, signature campaigns is maybe a good idea but these are constantly changing. I think a list of signature campaigns could fit under the previously submitted category "Money Making Guides". I'm not sure it would be good to create a category for that, as a bunch of links to inactive signature campaigns would be hard to maintain.

I guess I agree with you that they are more digital services than physical objects that you can buy like electronics or clothing. It is kind of borderline, but I will move Flights and Hotels to Digital Goods/Services.

I will add a Money Making Guides subcategory to the Guides category.

Also, I will add Software and Games to digital goods, and change the Games subcategory in News/Entertainment to Free Games.

You have a brilliant idea about making a thing related to cryptocurrency mate, I hardly find what is lacking from the idea that you give. But one thing that many users need when they desperate bitcoin. It looks like you should add a lending section in the Cryptocurrency Services category. I'm sure it will be very useful #imo Smiley
