481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Veros - a new cryptocurrency on: March 24, 2017, 05:09:41 PM
Veros Cryptocoin in less than 3 months

This is where you guys went wrong. Any cryptocurrency that stands a chance of legitimacy needs to be announced here before it launches, and allow for the open participation of anyone that wants to participate.

I wouldn't expect much love here....
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yes, PIVX Is Now Top 20 CryptoCurrency In World on: March 23, 2017, 03:32:39 AM
I'm sorry but I don't have thoughts on decred I have not looked at it. However 2 people i trust the opinions of said it is one of the better dev teams.

I wonder just how good "one of the better dev teams" they mean, is it top 3? top 20?

Of course it wouldn't have the best dev team, we both know Dash has the best dev team of any crypto.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Top 3 dev teams IMO goes like this:
Bitcoin
Ethereum
Decred

The PIVX dev team has a lot to prove, and I don't get why this copy and paste coin (as far as Dash tech is concerned) or vaporware (as far as Zerocoin tech is concerned) is getting pumped higher than coins that have copied Dash with a fair distribution before (too many to list), have zerocoin technology implemented (like Zcoin), or Zcash technology (like Zcash or Zclassic). Actually, I get why... someone(s) pumping it. You've seen the newbie account hype machine on the forums lately, and obviously someone has been buying it up on the markets. It is no coincidence. I will sit on the sidelines and wait for the dump. Maybe, just maybe... after the dump, if they show progress in development, then it could turn into a decent coin that I will buy, but until then it is a highly orchestrated pump and dump.
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Thousands Of Bitcoins Because Of Volatility on: March 20, 2017, 01:42:54 PM
I don't think OP have any decent amount like he is claiming lost of thousands of the bitcoin. Anyway this thread made me laugh when somebody claim like this. Wink

Despite the thread title, I think he meant that he lost thousands of dollars. Judging by his OP, English is not his first language.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is PIVX, is it DASH clone? on: March 20, 2017, 01:36:37 PM
How close it PIVX to implementing zero knowledge protocol? Many have tried. Smiley

This is a good point. It is not a super easy thing to implement. There have been a few failed attempts in the past. Furthermore, the only successful attempt that I know of (ZCoin) had a bug that was exploited.

Although it was quickly fixed, the exploiter made off with approximately $776,900 worth of ZCoins. "A total of 388450 XZC were created from this bug." ZCoin was worth around $2 at the time of the exploit.

485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Thousands Of Bitcoins Because Of Volatility on: March 19, 2017, 06:26:38 PM
I recommend holding your Bitcoins. Given enough time, the price will rebound and reach new ATHS.

If you put your money in Tether, you are guaranteed to lose the money you already lost due to volatility. I think this is easily the worst option you propose, unless you will be needing to cash out to FIAT within the next month or two or if you want to try and increase your BTC holdings, betting that BTC will continue to drop in the short term. It is possible that the BTC price could go down even more over that timeframe, but buying and holding Tether long term is a bad investment. Might as well cash out to FIAT and put it in a savings account if you're going to do that.

Ripple is also a bad choice IMO. I think there are a lot better alts that you could put your money into. But, if you are dead set on Tether or Ripple for a long term investment, Ripple is the better option, as at least you have the chance of regaining your losses. I still think holding your Bitcoin is your best option there though.
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin/s are (Dash, Monero, ZCASH) are TRULY anonymous? on: March 19, 2017, 05:47:08 PM
I've seen a lot of shilling on this forum, and I can't tell where it ends.
Can someone tell me the positives and negatives of Dash, Monero and Zcash?
Is one more anonymous than the other?

DASH's anonymity depends on the masternodes not keeping logs of the mixing they provide.  So most probably, DASH is good enough for some form of low level anonymity.  If you are hiding from the local police, that's OK.  If you are hiding from a serious agency, that's not good enough.  It is of course way better than using bitcoin with a centralized mixer, because that mixer knows all of your mixing.  With DASH, that is the same with masternodes, but not ALL of them belong to Evan.  So you may be using some master nodes belonging to different people, and maybe they are not all logging your mixing.

Monero is quite anonymous, but not 100%.  In fact, monero transactions become more opaque over time.  What is good with monero is that ALL transactions are anonymous.  That's not the case with DASH and ZCASH.

ZCASH is, if the crypto is right, 100% anonymous between those participants that activate the anon option.  If ZCASH would have been compulsory anon, that would have been good.  But it isn't.

The trusted setup is not supposed to harm anonymity, but just overall number of coins.  If the trusted setup is not to be trusted, those keeping the secret keys can print as many coins as they want.  But they cannot deanonimise the chain.

Monero and ZCASH both use advanced cryptography for anonymity.  DASH only uses mixers on a transparent chain.  In principle, ZCASH anon is perfect, but this is screwed with the fact that anon is optional.  So people "see you go anon".  Monero is good but not perfect, but nobody "sees you go anon" because everybody is.

I think that this is a pretty fair analysis of Monero/Dash/Zcash. I'm glad you touched on the Zcash initial setup not effecting anonymity, even if done improperly. I was about to chime in with that, as some of the posts up thread are misleading in those regards.

If the trusted setup was done maliciously, then they could print an unlimited amount of coins undetectably, but it would not effect anonymity of Zcash transactions. The former is still pretty bad, but they were pretty transparent with the trust ceremony and I don't believe the setup was done malicously.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About the USDT on: March 19, 2017, 05:36:48 AM
Why is Tether issuing many more USDT than they have USD to cover?

tether.to/transparency

They probably simply haven't caught up with demand yet. There has been a lot bigger demand for Tether since around January when the Bitcoin price spiked. That is the risk with a centralized coin like this though.

I prefer decentralized versions like bitUSD, Steem Dollar, or Nubuts, but they don't have near the liquidity or price parity with the USD that Tether has. They unfortunately never gained enough popularity/liquidity to compete with Tether.
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero or Cloak? on: March 19, 2017, 04:55:10 AM
same thing with the exploit of monero to which they can create a coin out of nothing. imagine how you can make them rich. creating a monero coin out of nothing all because of their faulty codes - thats like an amazon river of money.
Do you have references for this claim?
i wouldn't expect they'd be discussing it here in this thread but you can ask them yourself to see if they are honestly going to tell you that issue. once you publish that here in this thread they will flock this with all the responces to bury the posts.  just dig and find it on their thread which a hacker can create xmr without minting.

It sounds like you are mistakenly talking about Zcash, rather than Monero. Although, it is my belief that you cannot do that on either chain. It depends on if you believe the trusted setup for Zcash was done properly or not.

If not, please provide proof or a link.

490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the general opinion of Library coin? on: March 17, 2017, 08:04:29 PM
I generally agree with you. The exception would be that this is a torrent network and installing the Library network would mean I'd be enabling them. not just existing in the same ecosystem.

There are very legit uses for bitTorrent too!  Grin
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the general opinion of Library coin? on: March 17, 2017, 06:24:18 PM
I am really concerned about the uncensored portion of it though. If no one has any control over content, what to stop terrorist recruiters and illegal pornographers? I'd like to buy the coin and install the client, down with authoritarianism. But I don't want to get involved with the worst people on Earth after all.

You have to take the good and the bad with this sort of thing. Terrorist recruiters and illegal pornographers use the regular internet, but you are obviously still using it, right?

They also use FIAT, but I assume you still use that too?

Law enforcement will continue to go after the criminals themselves, not the technology they utilize, because there are many legit uses of said technology.

I can't remember what Library Coin is... it has been a while since I heard the name. I've got nothing for you there.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Share Your Crypto Investing Bucket on: March 16, 2017, 10:56:34 PM

Ethereum 2%
Litecoin 2%
Decred 2%
Zclassic 2%
Vtorrent 2%
Shadowcash 2%
Ardor 2%

495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PIVx = the new DASH. - where did my last post go? on: March 15, 2017, 06:29:20 PM
You must be refering to them adopting zerocoin for now it is the same as dash so if it is vaporware then........

OK, thanks. That helps me understand a little bit better!

How is the efficiency compared to Dash? Seeing as though it is PoSv3 compared to Pow. I'm not too familiar with PoSv3, but it seems like it could be more efficient than PoW.
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PIVx = the new DASH. - where did my last post go? on: March 15, 2017, 06:10:40 PM
PIVX cap is about to break $10MM. I was hyping this tech/community/dev when it was $500k.

That scares me as a potential investor. Isn't PivX's main anon features vaporware at this point, or am I ill-informed?

Also, the anon space is quite crowded...

Monero
Dash
Zcash
Zclassic
Shadowcash
PivX
Decred (their anon tech is vapor right now, but the Decred dev team is one of the few in the space that I have faith can deliver a road map... they are supposed to up their anon game in Q3/Q4)

I know I'm missing some coins too...

I'm not trying to be a negative nancy or spread FUD, just trying to better understand the ALT coin landscape. Maybe PivX will be a great success. I have been MIA for the better part of a year.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LOLz Laimers quits Steem on: March 15, 2017, 05:28:01 PM
Hmmm, yeah... I am done defending the Larimers. Such a shame too, because Dan is one of the few that can actually deliver a road map while being innovative at the same time.

I can also admit that the Steem ecosystem was doomed to fail from the start. I previously thought that it could of been made to work, but nope. Just no...

so bitshares .... steem.... now where?

This is my best educated guess: https://www.peerplays.com

There is some profit to be made from Dan's projects if you get out at the right time. 😉
498  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CryptoVest Physical Litecoins on: March 13, 2017, 11:47:14 PM
Maybe, I am not sure. The only international purchase I had on there asked me to send an invoice with shipping costs added.

Usually I think, at least in my limited Ebay experience, Ebay takes care of international shipping through their International Shipping Program, which charges the buyer extra for shipping... at a price determined by Ebay.

I guess if I have any issues with it, then I can disable international shipping, but so far I haven't.
499  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CryptoVest Physical Litecoins on: March 13, 2017, 01:37:05 AM
Good afternoon.

It would be $10 per coin, plus shipping:

Express shipping (3 to 5 business days) is $60.75
Priority shipping (6 to 10 business days) is $40.95

This is the Great Bitcointalk Buddy Deal the seller of this coins made me last year by personal message.
40+ dollars for shipping a 10 dollar coin. But now I see buyers from my country eBay he is charging only $13.13 !

Thanks for the Bitcointalk Buddy penalty. I am Still pissed !

Don't be salty bro, it is nothing personal. I had wayyy too many coins go mysteriously missing via cheaper shipping methods when shipping internationally.

I would have to send out a second, and sometimes a third coin to these international buyers whose coins went missing... eventually giving a full refund if the 3rd attempt was unsuccessful.

I can only afford to send 3 coins and pay for shipping three times, then give a full refund so many times. Unfortunately, the more expensive shipping methods are the only reliable ones to a lot of countires.

Thanks for your interest though.

I'm interested! Where is an updated list of your inventory? Should we continue through pm?

Sorry for the late response, I currently have them on sale on Ebay for $20 a pop. I am still willing to honor the $10/coin offer, just make an offer on Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252637591669

I worked at a ski resort this winter, and am planning on working on a cruise ship again this summer. Meaning... the coins I am selling will be taken off the market from around May until November, as I will be unable to fulfill orders.

I hope everyone is doing wonderful!!!  Smiley Grin
