221  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Kim Kardashian & Western Civilization on: February 26, 2016, 12:36:58 PM
It's sad that smart minds that could have gone and become something useful end up aspiring to be like the braindead stars on TV... who needs to cure cancer or solve world hunger when you can be adored by millions of people and get money just for acting rich...

I don't think we're on the verge of some kind of complete collapse, but that we're just going to have more and more idiots in society as time goes on...  the smart will end up carrying the weak to make sure they can get by.  I'm mostly a socialist and believe that everybody should be well taken care of, but damn, it would be nice if people would at least put some effort into helping society.
222  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shocking Times: Movement for Pedophile “Rights” Marches On on: February 25, 2016, 11:53:02 PM

It seems, based on the on going discussion, the thread's title is 100% factual.
There's a hell of a difference between fighting for the rights of pedophiles to offend, and to live their life without doing so in any way.  Nobody wants them to have the right to go fuck a kid.

Personally I'd rather see castration (chemical or physical) be the main way to deal with this, but if the pedos don't want to come forward we can't exactly find them out until they offend... I'd sure as fuck rather them use a doll than go and hurt some innocent kid.

We need to differentiate between pedos that have no problem with offending, and people that happen to have the urges and will do everything in their power to keep it from happening.  As for the ones that do offend, have at it with the worst you've got.
223  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN to the moon" on: February 25, 2016, 10:59:11 PM
the estimated price at $ 1000 / bitcoin will become a reality , selling at $ 400 and $ 1,000 to buy later on . Smiley Smiley Smiley

Very possible. I mean we already reached $1300 before so $1000 is easy. Should be reached in maximum 2 years.
true,,as you can see now , there are already signs of bitcoin to $ 1,000 .
What signs are there right now for bitcoin going to 1k?  We haven't gotten even halfway there despite recent attempts at a rally, and this isn't like the first time around where all the brand new media attention gets newbies investing in it.  I'd like to see it as much as the next person, but we're nowhere even close to being ready to go up unless there's just some sort of spontaneous bubble from China, in which case there wouldn't really be any signs...
224  Economy / Economics / Re: Loans too risky? on: February 25, 2016, 10:55:56 PM
You may get away with one or two loans to trusted people on here, but eventually somebody is going to scam you and eat all your profit...  Either you're going to end up price gouging the innocent customers, or end up on the hook when somebody that looked legit decides to run off with your BTC.  You'd be better off holding your coins or just selling them and investing the money normally, not risking massive amounts on random internet strangers.

Also, probably not a good idea to have your real name showing next to a BTC amount like that... gonna make yourself a hell of a target Tongue
225  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin always be dependent on fiat? Is it? on: February 25, 2016, 10:52:36 PM
I see Bitcoin as a tool that can be used to transfer fiat without boundaries, but not as a stable currency of it's own.  It's very rare outside of places like this forum that even pro-bitcoin business will set a price in BTC, it's just used as a way to get the money there.  Not that this is a bad thing, the stability just isn't there for it to stand on it's own... whether this will always be the case, nobody knows.
226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price going to sub-400 again? on: February 24, 2016, 11:41:35 AM
I don't have much confidence that we're going to hold over 400 at the moment.  The flashcrash wasn't the end of our downtrend as we've tested below 410 today, so the only thing left is the resistance down at 400.  I've got a short in @419 and pretty confident that I'm going to be making a good bit off it, things just don't look too good for the price at the moment.
227  Economy / Speculation / Re: m0gliE trading positions on: February 24, 2016, 11:38:52 AM
Well well well...

Seems like I was a bit too pessimestic. Shouldn't have close the short so soon.
Well just put a limit on 415 cause of high resistance, and only thing we can do is waiting for the rise now.
I agree with you here, this seems like a great opportunity to get in for low risk.  I'm long @420 with a stop at 414.99.  Gonna hold out and see what comes of this, not much to lose compared to possibly getting in on the next price raise.

Yeah it's a great moment to get in.
The 414.99 stop is maybe a bit too much sensitive though, 410 was broken but for an instant nothing more.

I'm still bullish!
I've switched over after seeing us test below 410, I'm back to being bearish now.  This definitely looks like the beginning of a bear trend back to testing 400 or below soon.

228  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining and the Halving on: February 23, 2016, 08:57:31 PM
I think there's going to be a huge dropoff in miners as the ability to run a profit seems to disappear into thin air.  As all the smaller miners get out of the game, the hashrate will go down or at least stutter as more efficient miners are made, until it's feasable to make a profit with the miners being put out...  then it starts all over again
229  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which wallet are you using? on: February 23, 2016, 08:54:21 PM
I use Electrum for when I'm at home, Mycellum for on the go, and Armory on a ColdPi on the rare occasion that I'm holding a decent amount.  I use a Yubikey for protection on Electrum and feel pretty safe with it, so I honestly may put the rPi to better use somehow soon..
230  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: February 23, 2016, 08:45:19 PM
It would be pretty good if you invest right now because of the halving that is coming this year, if you invest now you can make profit if you sell your bitcoins on the right moment.

Just invest and hold your bitcoins for a while to make profit, its as simple as that it gets not more simpler than that.

You are right, and price is also pretty much down as compared to where it was before...
Everyone's talking of seeing a new ATH this year, so even if we won't be able to see such, at least we are to witness $800 - $900 for sure...
I've seen people talking about a new ATH every year since the great 1k bubble... the fact is many people on the forum are way too optimistic, that's why they're spending their time on a crypto forum instead of casually holding some.

I think we may end up poking around the 600+ area for a little bit later in the year, but I really don't think we're going to be having another massive bubble.  That would involve tons of media attention to get new investors involved, China going nuts, and the bagholders from the last big one not selling out when they got the chance...  in other words, it's going to be a hell of a lot harder than ever before to hit a new ATH.
231  Economy / Economics / Re: USA CPA Inflation 1.4% on: February 23, 2016, 08:42:25 PM
I doubt that US inflation is going to send BTC skyrocketing considering that China is more invested than anybody right now... I guess it's possible for us to become the new China given some bad economic circumstances, but it doesn't seem very likely to me.  Besides, 1.4% a year is better than losing half of the value of your investment over a couple years like BTC did Tongue

1.4% honestly isn't too terribly much inflation, if you're saving money you can easily make over that with the right investments.  It's mostly a matter of wages moving up to match the upped cost of living.
232  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: February 23, 2016, 08:38:12 PM
If I happen to be shopping at a store that accepts crypto (or Gyft works with) I'll usually use it, but I don't go out of my way to spend them.  It's nice being able to get a discount on stuff I buy all the time so I generally try to hold onto a bit of crypto, but not a hodler by any means.  It's just a way for me to accept payment for selling things without fees, and another form of cash to buy whatever I want.

That said, if a real life store around me started accepting crypto I'd probably go there just for the novelty of it.. but not make it a point to go there any more than I normally would after that.
233  Economy / Economics / Re: US traders no longer legally can trade bitcoin futures anywhere! Bad news on: February 23, 2016, 08:33:56 PM
It's truly sad that innovation and regulation have such a hard time getting along with each other... here is a potential trading platform that can eliminate deposit fees and make trading instant, yet making it so hard to operate in the US is hurting everybody involved while making money for the big banks involved.

Maybe once the laws are more clear we'll see more crypto businesses working in the US, but we need to relax the red tape involved with getting registered to make that happen... keeping it to the big banks and companies that can lobby our government is a pretty shitty way to do things.

235  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CleverCoin Is SCAM on: February 23, 2016, 08:19:31 PM
It doesn't surprise me that they want some extra verification when you're depositing almost $50,000.  You're going to have a bad time if you expect a transaction of that size to go off without a hitch.  Video verification seems like an odd way to check things out, but when you're trying to move that much money it doesn't surprise me that they came up with something to double check that you were legit.

That said, if you did their standard verification I see no reason that they can't send your money back to where it came from... something smells fishy there.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price going to sub-400 again? on: February 23, 2016, 08:14:54 PM
I really don't think we'll be going that low yet, this was just a correction after a rally that got ahead of itself.  I think we'll hold the 420 range for a bit before possibly starting up another bubble to test 500.  If we break the strong resistance around 416 that we've found then we'll probably end up at least testing 400, though.  Psychological resistance will be strong there, so it will come down to how bad the market wants it to stay up..
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving has already Begun, Yes or No? on: February 23, 2016, 06:17:05 PM
I think this is the beginning of a halving pump, but that there will be more to come.  With all the bitcoiners thinking about the halving, they're starting to buy up in preparation and subconsciously making a pump happen.  However, the correction that we had shows that there is more to it than just that, and it was also simply time for us to go up a bit after the plummet down from 500.

It is very easy to check by looking how big reward miners get.
They are still getting 25btc per block as I can see.

The idea is that we know about when the block size will half, and once it does the price will skyrocket to make up for the halved profit from mining.  The halving in itself hasn't started, but the price raise to make up for it has.
238  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC at $435. Is it sustainable? on: February 23, 2016, 06:03:27 PM
It was an expected correction. I think the bottom is at $400 which might be tested today or in the comming days. Support at $400 will most likely hold if that price level will indeed be tested. The comming days will be very interesting to follow closely as there is some decent money to be made with these kind of price swings.
I don't see any technical support at $400. Other than psychological level, there is nothing there. Do you have any chart to show that? $415 was a strong resistance that now turned into support. I would trust more holding $415 rather than $400. Once $415 breaks, we go down to $380.
Psychological resistance can be pretty strong, whales like to use it to their advantage.  That said, it does look like right now we're going to be seeing a good bit of resistance at 415.  Here's to hoping it's able to hold, otherwise it's time to short IMO.
239  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC at $435. Is it sustainable? on: February 23, 2016, 09:37:27 AM
Well we're holding on to $440 or so, but I don't know where we're headed.  Hopefully not only will $435 be sustainable (I know this thread is a few months old), but we'll go significantly higher than that.

Well we went crashing through that pricepoint... too early to tell if it's a correction or the begging of an actual crash, but we're certainly not stable in the above 430 area right now..
240  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC at $435. Is it sustainable? on: February 22, 2016, 09:27:52 PM
in the past 5 months it almost doubled and now its stable. idk if it will be halved in the summer,

I think the price of bitcoin will not reduce to $300 any more. More people know about bitcoin now.
The most people we had thinking about Bitcoin was during the great bubble to $1k+, it's not a matter of awareness.  It boils down to the news that's happening in the crypto atmosphere, what China intends on doing, and the general sentiment of both the community and outsiders that may invest.
