221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: November 16, 2023, 10:12:44 AM
~snip~
Stats are for people who want to present or have a detailed report on something and while I’m yet to meet someone who would want to be continuously updated on the sizable chunk of money he has lost overtime compared to peanuts he most likely felt really happy to have won, there may actually be some people who have and keep such detailed report of their gambling history for whatever reasons.
I think the average gambler which includes the group of gamblers who play for recreational purposes as well as those who aren’t frequent and play at random could care less for records of their gambling which would probably show more loses than wins.

Yes, spot on.

The whole gambling thing is about not thinking about it too much. That's also why in casinos they don't have windows or clocks anywhere, they don't want you to realize how much time you have been in there.

It's a bit like being in a different reality, controlled by the casino. And when the gambler wakes up, sometimes they find themselves in a very different reality.

Yeah, that's the point casino owners would love to see you continually using their platforms they will do anything to keep stay and enjoy
and for those gamblers who are being allure by that strategy, most of them lose after.

If you are not keeping your records and you are just playing all in, eventually you will lose your money and you will end up losing more compared
to what you intended to use.

Though some may have that capability, but most don't and that's where the gambling owners are getting their huge chunks of profits.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Practices for Staying Safe When Gambling on: November 15, 2023, 12:17:19 PM
Yes, because limiting your budget is the most effective way to stay safe when gambling because so far people are gambling like crazy beyond their limits because they don't limit their bets to a set budget, it is indeed difficult to be consistent in following the set budget so that we can stop when the budget is completely exhausted, exhausted in the sense of money that is ready to be lost or money that is not used.

Get used to gambling to regulate everything and limit it because this method is quite effective in avoiding gambling habits and also gambling addiction, so by limiting every gambling behavior we will feel restricted so that we don't play outside the limits which can lead to irregular play and ultimately addiction. It is very difficult to cure if you are addicted, so stay safe when gambling by managing the right budget and time.

Limiting your budget on gambling is a wise action to stay safe when gambling, I agree with that. By limiting your budget, it means that you are limiting yourself from gambling more than you can afford. Usually, most gambling platforms now have a feature that allows someone to limit how much money they are ready to gamble and when they exceed this set, the system will usually notify them.
Indeed, for some people it will be quite difficult to get used to this kind of restriction method, but believe me it will really help them to be able to limit themselves and prevent them from becoming addicted to gambling.

It helps a lot in terms of avoiding addiction,

if you can limit yourself and not exceed it after executing it then the chance of getting addicted is not possible as your
Set limitations will keep you away from adding more money and time.

though it's true that not everyone can do that and most of the time it's just a small percentage of those gamblers who can follow
their set limitations, most are exceeding and fall into addiction.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 15, 2023, 09:59:04 AM
I'm not the type of person who is sure about copying other bets, even though that person's betting history is quite positive, but I'm just not sure. Because I think each person has their own analysis and luck, so when we copy that person's bet it means we don't depend on our own analysis and luck, which I'm not sure about. I would rather end up losing with my own luck than relying on other people.

That is one way of thinking about it,yet yesterday night I won two other bets, one with odds of 6.x and one with a bit higher,I am just loving to hit these bets which are multi games as before when I used to do my own analysis most parlays failed me but I was somewhat good in getting single bets right. The problem with single bets though is that they need a lot of money and once you hit a lost bet you immediately feel down dramatically, now I started this strategy of copying other people bets with 15.000 IDR and I am now at over 60.000 IDR,not the best but a good start I say,I will see how I do in the long term although the signals I got from this are positive so far.I also analyse other people bets before deciding to copy them.

Following those picks can somehow be classified as luck too. I mean, you did not pick those bets one by one but simply copied other bettors
betting slips and waits to see if they are going to win it.

Nothing is guaranteed though, even if you select it on your own or simply follow or copy if luck is not with you the outcome is the same right?

In your case, you are making some decent runs and if by chance and by luck it will continue then it's worthy to use it and make some
decent win out of it.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greed or risk on: November 15, 2023, 09:29:50 AM

If someone has won at gambling and he is still waiting for the gambling to end while placing a small bet then subconsciously that person will slowly run out of money because he is unable to control his behavior when gambling, he should go home and enjoy his winnings by having fun. And it is true that if someone is greedy, it is very difficult to have a good mindset not to continue gambling and we still often encounter behavior like this in the field.

Sadly, there are more people in the gambling industry who cannot control themselves when they are winning and they are not capable of doing that because they are addicted to it. It's really hard to stop playing when you have all the means to do so but in reality, you need to stop and not be greedy because no one has ever been successful in this world when they cannot be satisfied with what they currently have. Rather they keep grinding until they lose everything because they even choose to take huge risks like gambling just to increase their wealth or to become rich quickly.

Because it is very difficult for an addict to understand and carry out a behavior well, because he only thinks about how to get his wish granted immediately even though in the end he will experience a downturn in his life.
Of course, it is impossible for anyone to be successful in carrying out their gambling. If there are people who are successful here, it is probably only a few and most people will experience losses, because they gamble without any control or the influence of greed. their minds so they will do everything to quickly become successful. rich.

It's difficult as the only matter inside their minds is on how to win and how to satisfy that lust inside them, they can't control whatever emotions
that keeps popping up inside their minds whenever they feel the adrenaline rush.

If only they'd got that instinct of being responsible and they cared about the money, once they'd already got something they could simply quit and stop.

Though there are some gamblers who can manage to control their emotions and can take that edge out of the house, but the majorities are not.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 15, 2023, 09:11:22 AM
^^ If I'm not mistaken, we have been hearing about Zach Lavine being traded or at least the Bulls management is willing to shop him around as he is not happy to what the team has been. He was surrounded with good players, but it seems that they can't get over the hump even if he had Demar DeRozan as his back up with the Bulls. I guess it's the chemistry or the experience, one one from amongst the team has experience going into the finals, maybe for Caruso, but he is known for his defense. So I wouldn't be surprised if before the All Star, Zach will be on a different team. Not sure why Lakers is his destination, but I do agree that it will take some of the Lakers core to be included in the trade just to get Zach Lavine or at least the Bulls management willing to let go of their franchise player.

He's been with the bulls for a long time and there's nothing happen with his leadership, I also think that the chemistry is not working well
as they keep failing to reach anything not even close to a conference final.

I'm seeing some local social media post regarding to the possibility that either him, DeRozan or Caruso will be moving, and Lakers is the rumor place
for each of them.

If there's nothing happening better to let them go, maybe role players and possible future picks might work for the bulls.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: November 15, 2023, 08:38:42 AM
There are definitely some professional gamblers that are good enough that have financial backers, though I’m not real sure how many are out there and how it all works legality wise. But I know if I had the extra money to help finance a professional gambler with a proven track record I certainly would. This is after all how some people make very good livings.
I think financing a gambler is fine but it needs an accurate tracking record to know if a gambler has a potential of majority winning and losing so that you will have a basis on how much yoi are able to fund a gambler, Im not deep when it comes to this thing but I think it needs a legal agreement and both sides will agree on the terms and conditions of a funder.

I see your point and yes if the gambler is really good but make sure that you are willing to risk your money, even how good the gambler was
the venue is gambling and there's no assurance that he can always win.

Maybe is some sessions he can win but if emotion beat him up expect that he will lose his temper and eventually lose all the money he got, it's more practical to use your money in other investment or play the money on your own.

Win or lose it will be your decision and nothing will be blame if things went wrong.
227  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: November 14, 2023, 11:55:40 AM
Agree with you, despite of having so many degree, what is the value of that degree where people are unemployed. A man certainly needs academic education but he must be involved in service in some way or else he will fail in leading his life. That is, if he cannot show himself in any economic work, then he will not get the real value of that education. A student must set his own goals by deciding in advance what he will do and what he will focus on after his studies. It should be remembered that education rate is increasing all over the world but employment has not increased accordingly. Of course academic degree is required but it never guarantees money income.

That's why we have to be self employed. We can't rely on the government anymore. I have seen many multiple degree holders to try and get a decent job. But no success. Later they same person made a business of his and became a entrepreneur. It was hard, he had to start small, build everything from scratch but he was successful at the end. Rather than relying on your government or degree we should rely on our skills. That's why a student should always obtain other set of skills along with his skills. That way, he won't be left away.

Starting a business most of the time accompany by struggles and hard work, a person with full determination might able to find success
if he will really try everything, though not all have that same fate and luck.

I also believe that relying with the government is not the best way to find that success so with having multiple degree without any additional hard work and research.

More on how you use your knowledge and how you compete with the test of time to have that successful journey whatever the path you use.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 14, 2023, 11:28:11 AM
Anyone else believed Harden is the problem? Me, I'm starting to believe he is. What Brian Dameris said was all true no cap heard on his statement regarding James Harden drama.
He's been moving from 1 team to another, teaming up with 2-4 superstars on the same team, but not even the finals he stepped into, except when they were  young in OKC.
Well, he's already there, I guess the Clippers will need to make a huge adjustments to utilise Harden effectively. I thought he'd be a great guy leading the 2nd unit.

There have been at least a couple of teams over the past few seasons that have signed a few star players at once. Such rosters looked promising on paper, but they turned out to be ineffective in reality. It seems to me that the problem is that most of the current all-star players are egoists, i.e. they are more concerned with their individual stats rather than team results. I mean, there are only a few all-star players who would be willing to make concessions and change their role on the team to win a title.
As for the Clippers, their current roster experiment is likely to be a failure, and I personally don't believe that they will have any success this season.

Exactly, if by papers and by individual stats it seems that this trade gives a good edge for the Clippers but looking for the actual results from the
team perspectives and actual result.

The trade gives Sixers the big advantage, bringing out the best from Embiid and Maxey plus all the role players are also helping them in winning games.

That Clippers experiment seems to be a failure in terms of their performances, might be needed to change the coach or maybe another trade
the 4 stars selection is not working for them.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some things you should always avoid while gambling ? on: November 14, 2023, 10:38:32 AM
Let us discuss in this thread the things one should completely avoid while gambling. Here are some suggestions according to me :

1) Do not gamble in work area : It is not ethical to do so. Your employer is paying you to work for him for certain hours. If you waste these hours for gambling, it is a bad habit.

2) Do not take loan to gamble: Some young guys are so irresponsible that they take loans to gamble. It is a very bad move and can even produce life threatening conditions in future when loan recover agents knock your door.

I do gamble at work yet I think it is super bad luck when doing so by playing slots,at least that happened to me while I am not caring much about the amount of money my company pays me,they pay me the minimum amount to stop leaving the company not a cent more,it is a dream shatter, the salary is the drug they give us to stop following our dreams as they say,so I only not play at work because of bad luck.

I do in fact gamble at work and it is only to place sport bets,I analyse a bit and then place those sport bets in a short amount of time.As for the loan it is always the worse possible thing a gambler can do.

I hope you also earn good in future and start a company. Then when you start managing employees and they play games while you pay them for their time, then you will realize how wrong you are doing now. We never see situation from another person perspective and it causes a lot of problem for both the parties in future. Sooner or later, your employer will find what you are doing at workplace and will fire you.

Hopefully he's doing it away from his obligation, I mean mentioning sport betting where you just need to visit the sports betting site and place your
bet then wait for the result.

Not the same with playing a luck base casino game where you needed to use a lot of your time and will affects your work.

I see your point and yeah, we do have different perspectives from one another, and I think you just need to place yourself on that same shoe in order
to understand the situation.
230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: November 14, 2023, 10:01:08 AM
It's true what you said. I also think it's hard to do but easy to say, self-control, limiting, that's what's hard to do but easy to say. even though it's there from the beginning with them setting self-control that when they win it doesn't guarantee, because it can change because of the victory that will encourage them to continue the game by increasing the value of the bet.
It's not difficult if you want to do it, do it slowly and gradually because it is impossible to change a habit, it takes time quickly, just as when a person becomes an addict, it takes time to become an addict and not as quickly as we think, the point is to be consistent and confident. that it can be done limiting the budget and learning to control ourselves when gambling is therefore important to prevent us from becoming addicted.

Anyone can easily do it if they are full of confidence and belief that it can be done, sometimes people give up easily and think it is difficult to do because they don't want to try it and think it will fail, even though this method can be successful if it is accompanied by self-confidence and be consistent until you really succeed in controlling yourself when gambling.

In somehow you got that valid point, I mean yeah, if you develop that self-confidence and manage to use your experience to make sure
that you can react to whatever is happening around you.

Its easy to say that you can work on with your self-limitation and control over with how you decide when you are already in the said situation, but then
again, knowledge and experience will help you to make things possible.

Something that only you who can execute and can do the right decision making when in time that you need to decide and assess the situation.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 14, 2023, 09:54:15 AM
luck doesn't exist people just make bad decisions and blame "luck", or they don't plan their bets or anything

Some other people follow those who are successful in their lives because they think it is the right way since they can see the results with their own eyes from those people. That's why when a popular celebrity tweets on some investment platform even if it's a scam project, people always follow them even though their account at that time was hacked and compromised. So it's not about luck at all but experience and knowledge will make you successful in your business.

I see your point and that's really valid, there are situation where people follow someone even, they knew that there's a possible
risk but because of the outcome or the share results they can easily be move.

I think not all is because of luck maybe there some who got that opportunity but most of the time it's your knowledge that's important
when executing your goals.

More on how you assess and analyze everything, there's an open opportunity when following someone as long as you will not going to
just completely copy but you will also use your time to research and assess whatever it is to make it profitable to you.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: November 13, 2023, 02:29:30 PM
Just 5 minutes ago, I won some money, it's not that big but I was able to run my capital into like x6-x7, and I do agree, I have that mentality to continue to play. However, I resists that temptation and just decided to withdraw the money and cash it out and never go back again. I'm just thinking that it's already a big win for me, just a couple minutes of playing and then I was just lucky that time and won big already. But I will say that it's really hard, because I already think of withdrawing and suddenly decided to bet twice again and fortunately I won. But then again, I know that my luck might stop, so I think again fight my emotions and withdraw and quit the game and just go back here in the community.

Good for you then. I admit whenever I'm in that same situation, it's a tough choice for me to continue or not since I want to take advantage more of my luck. Hard to stop when luck is there since we are all waiting for that. However, I'm not totally dumb to just continue without any caution on the way. It's like I'm challenging myself to fight the temptation of gambling more.

In most cases, whenever on a big win, I tend to sacrifice at least 30% of my winnings on that particular session.

It works for me generally but there are times that I really can't fight the temptation and most gamblers will understand that feeling.

When you manage to quit after losing that 30% then you are good from that day but if not, you will regret the day and it will keep lingers
in your mind that you should stop while you still have some.

I think it's most of the time the case from each gambler who have that opportunity to win, it's a matter of decision making and how you will
execute your plans, experienced wise it will allow you to feel that temptation but if you manage to stop then it will be good for you.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some things you should always avoid while gambling ? on: November 13, 2023, 02:21:30 PM

With good self-control, it will probably minimize the chances of addiction, for example, when they win there they immediately cash out not continuing the game because they know they will lose in the future if they continue, this is one example of self-control. And of course it will also provide good things for themselves.

Self control is one factor that can lead a gambler into playing responsibly because you take your time and do proper analysis before staking a bet and incase you lose, you are still okay with it and since you have not gambled as you can not afford to lose then there won't really be the need to chase back the losses but most gamblers don't have this good character of gambling.

Most times the case with gamblers is that after they win, they still continue to play at same day and unfortunately the profit goes back to the casino because indeed gambling is a luck game and the house edge always prevail. Luck seldom come.

Yes, that's right. it's one of the important factors in gambling, because if you don't have it, there is a high probability of excessive addiction, but if we have it, it is less likely to become addicted. There are many important points that must be possessed when gambling, one of which is self-control that must be applied to oneself to be able to limit the game so that it will not or can avoid addiction.

Now if like that, they are among the gamblers who cannot control themselves, why is that? because continuing the game when after they win, there is nothing wrong with that, but most of them when they continue the game and they lose with the winnings they get also run out, they cannot accept that, so they cannot accept the risk properly.

They cannot control the greed that's one thing for sure, when you think you can add more in your winnings you will keep trying to win more,
and when losing streak start to show up, the control inside you is no longer active.

You will keep placing your bets and you will experience the bad side of gambling, you will see that your bankroll is empty and instead of quitting before you lose everything you decided to keep playing and the outcome is no longer on your favor and everything you earn is now back int he hands of the house.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 13, 2023, 02:05:41 PM
What are your thoughts on the Warriors' struggles? It's their second consecutive loss at home, and despite the scoreboard showing only a 6-point loss, there seems to be a lot happening behind those numbers. Clearly, the Warriors are facing huge challenges, and Curry is struggling to find support from his splash brother. I don't know, I think they need to start finding some consistent player and replace Klay on the line up, seems like he wasn't the same anymore after he suffered an injury.

Unfortunately the era of the Splash Brothers seems to be fading. The team is already fatigued if you know what I mean. They require a strong big man and speed. The Warriors are in desperate need of a good center. Looney alone isn't sufficient against bigger, younger players. Surprisingly, Moody and Kuminga seem to outperform Wiggins and Klay as much as it pains to admit.

They had big men in the past with good size, such as Andrew Bogut and JaVale McGee. I don't even understand why they let go of JaVale when he was part of the team during their championship win. It seems they are sticking with their small-ball system, and we know there's a disadvantage in that—specifically, the lack of defense in the paint and rebounding. Their best way to overcome this disadvantage is to shoot well from the outside, which unfortunately didn't happen, at least for Curry's teammates, especially Thompson.

The league is upgrading and the advantage before are no longer effective for them anymore, even they can still shoot and have that
as an edge, on the otherside, there's defense that they need to address.

If they failed to make a good basket in each position they have, the opposing team can do the counter and force them to commit a foul, that's the problem with the small squad, it's hard to rotate for a good defense.

Though they live like that before and manage to win a title, not sure though if that same fate will allow them or they needed to bring a solid
center who can fill that empty spot.
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 13, 2023, 01:51:37 PM
I have seen someone who doesn't like sharing his games with others as a result of believing he can lose his game due to other people's bad luck, and if he plays alone, he has a higher chance of winning his games. This is because they have seen many people who appear to don't always have luck winning their games.
People sometimes have amusing superstitions, like the one you mentioned. I don't understand how one can think that their luck can go away just because someone unlucky has placed a bet on the same outcome as him, what if he doesn't tell anyone and someone unlucky still does place their bet on the same side he is betting on? Will he lose or win? And who will be blamed in that case? I bet no one. So, one should know that if they lose, it's their destiny and not someone else's that is interfering with theirs.

I find such people to be overdramatic, they are just too much, almost unbearable. If I have placed a bet on a sports match and I know that I have done my research and analyzed the game very well, and someone asks me about it, I will be glad to tell them along with the analysis that I did, and if we win, I'll be glad that I could make them win as well, and if we lose, it's alright, luck didn't favor us and that's it.

well, you can't blame other gamblers as some are indeed following their superstitious beliefs. you can't reason out as they already formed in their minds what they want to believe in. there's no connection at all about such situations, but people as you said are overdramatic on things.
we can't dictate what they want to believe, so long they are not causing trouble to others.

You said it right you can't uninstall that from the mind of other gamblers, they think about it as part or treat it as part of their gambling
activities and they believe that it can bring some impacts with the outcome.

Though no one can really say what can happen next accurately, but if luck permits then copying or following may give them some decent amount of winnings.

It's a routine and it will still depends on how luck will permit you to win.
236  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Futures Trading - $10 per day on: November 13, 2023, 01:28:10 PM
I've been thinking about future trading, may nagtratrade ba dito at possible ba kumita ng $10 per day sa futures?

Any suggestions about this or mas ok paren and spot trading? Anyway I do have my knowledge naman about trading, pero hinde ko pa namamaximize yung futures trading, planning and hoping magawa ko ito before the year end.

237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: next bitcoin? on: November 10, 2023, 02:09:22 PM
I am a high school student. I learned about Bitcoin, but it's too late. I was so young. Because I was 4 years old in 2009. But as history tells us, bitcoin killer will emerge one day. I want to find out such coin, but I don't have enought knowledge and ability to do that.. I want to ask the smart people here. Is there a coin that is similar to Bitcoin now? something that is perfectly decentralized. I want to invest there. If there's a coin you're making, is fine too. Just let me know. I hope this post becomes a legend.
Now that you are old enough to understand bitcoin then why having this second thoughts? why looking for next bitcoin when the original is still existing and still profitable?
bitcoin even shows great growth weeks after your posting ?

and what I am seeing here is your not interested in having conversation here in your own thread and I am afraid that you have just created this for spamming.

How much are you going to invest if ever? are you trying to say that you wanted to put 1 dollar and after 10 years to become a Million like what early adopters earned?

The votes has been casted and the winner is the first one  https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/ showing how it grows from your time frame October 27 up to now? Bitcoin is heading to 40k as  it is sitting at 37 thousand USD this time I posted.
for same reason I believe that as we approaching December there are more runs coming , expected to be at least 45k before the 2023 close the record.
what we need to talk iN December is how much are we going to lose from that period till January first .
Will people continue to buy or dump if there is a drop after the halving? I think people will sell more than continue to buy. Many people have been diligently accumulating for the past 2 years and they are waiting and have high expectations that the halving will bring them a strong price increase. But if things don't go as they expected, there will certainly be panic. Only a few will see that as an opportunity to accumulate more bitcoins.
Those who have created and accumulated Bitcoin for two years will certainly consider selling it more if what they want is a profit from increasing prices and this could also enable them to sell early before the halving occurs if the price increase continues to occur in the market. But on the one hand, I also still believe that every time there is a decline in the price of Bitcoin, there will definitely be people who want to take advantage of it even though there are many people who panic and give up their holdings in the market.
expect that to happen guys, because Like me if ever Bitcoin grows 45k this december> for sure I will consider selling my coins as I have bought majority of them when the price is at 20k level and this is a instant 100% growth.
and yes before the halving ? I will buy those again so that would make my capital double before the bull comes.

To many things to work on and since he is on the right team and right coach for sure he can develop all of those if he show some willingness to learn more from great people who trained him.

He's just a rookie, and he's likely to win the Rookie of the Year award. So, the pressure is on for him, you know. People are talking about him because of his size, but if he can't consistently improve, I'm worried he might end up as a one-time wonder player.
There certainly is a huge pressure on him because he's the #1 pick on this class and the Spurs have got all of those picks that he's following with.
He's being groomed and taken care properly by the team and that's why people's expectation on him is high.
But yes, give him a break as he's still a rookie but look at how he's like the main guy on the team now while he's still on his very first year on his team.

Yes, He's the main alpha even in his rookie year, the expectation is too high as fans and viewers wanted more from this young guy, unlike
with other rookies being number 1 really being eyed by both criticism and complements.

He can't please everyone but with how he's showing his game seems that there's really something special about him, aside from his height which really
gives him that extra edge, but his skills and knowledge about the game that are really going to be interesting if he will keep on improving it all.

There are loads of people gambling with various motives, and most people are gutted when it comes to gambling, its either the price or nothing.

They'd prefer to loose out on a huge sum as they've calculated the expected outcome and have decided to sacrifice whatever it is that they have committed to betting on that particualr game. I will call it risk rather than greed.
That is the essence of gambling to make people assume they are winning against the table/banker but the reality lies that no they cannot, gambling tables are created to bring the owner as Money making machine , this flows money for every gambling owner and taking every cents in gamblers , so they are not calculating their possible winning over capital instead they are already addicted into it.
and they cannot prevent themselves to gamble and losing everything for the sake of playing.because even how much they won? still they will gamble and lose them all.
