221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 40 Second Bitcoin Commercial on YouTube on: October 27, 2013, 01:11:09 AM
The US gubermint recent seizure of 1% of the Bitcoins ever minted till this date sure puts that final quote into a new perspective...
222  Other / Meta / Re: Forum account hacked on: October 26, 2013, 11:47:33 PM
Sent theymos a message and moved the thread to Meta.
You're welcome!
223  Bitcoin / Press / Re: POST FORMAT: YYYY-MM-DD SITE - HEADLINE on: October 26, 2013, 12:52:32 PM
Why are articles getting deleted which clearly are not dups...

And other justificatiins being... I dont like the creative title? Which is the same as the article and that comments are off topic...  what is this kindergarten class?

For example

Founder reflects on the closure of Bitcoin stock exchange GLBSE
http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-10/24/bitcoin-exchange-collapse-glbse

The title was creative. It was edited to refelect the real title.

About deletions, well, the Press board just lost about 400 threads because Ephebus decided to edit all his threads with an article about dog eating vietnamese in an incredibly assholish move, so they were removed/trashed. Most probably the article you say it's not a dupe now, was a dupe 12 hours ago.
224  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I will NEVER deal with Mt Gox EVER again.. They are a bunch of criminals... on: October 26, 2013, 11:53:07 AM
Given that you opened 2 threads more about this subject, I sent one of them to the trashcan and am locking his one.
225  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Silk Road Bust is Not as it Seems on: October 26, 2013, 11:34:09 AM
I'm loving how the mod who moved this thread has covered their tracks by removing the "Moved:...etc etc" hyperlink from the general board. Grin

STFU, moron...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=316855.0

Don't you "moron" me. October 23rd?? What is this, fucking Mars time? The thread was on page 1 today. I didn't look to see if the link had been back-dated 3 days. Edit: though I guess it looks like the site probably does that automatically. Still doesn't make me a moron.

Yes, it does make you a moron.
1- The date is below the thread title, so...
2- You didn't even search. I found it in 5 seconds, by searching the thread title.
3- You posted the same in 2 different threads, just to show how nasty we moderators are.
4- Given the above, you care more about spreading FUD than facts
226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden new largest bitcoin address as of 10/25 on: October 26, 2013, 10:29:23 AM
Lol. The thread had indeed been moved to off-topic. Just speculatin'  Wink
Now I can't find the little grey "Moved..." hyperlink anywhere in General. Some mod really went out of their way to hide that thread without the obvious deletion... Doo-dee-doo-duu-doo-dee-doo-duu... Tongue

STFU, moron...

People don't read the sticky. Instead, you should force people to read the guideline when they are about to post. Annoying yes, but I hate having to chase around a handful of people who don't care about the date format and don't fix it.

That's the number of punches I'll give you if you ever have the bad luck of crossing my path.
229  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-10-26 forbes.com - fbi-says-its-seized-20-million-in-bitcoins-from-ross-ulb on: October 26, 2013, 03:39:10 AM

I fixed your link, ofcourse they're exactly the same... NOW!
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin-qt security on: October 25, 2013, 10:42:38 PM
If you are not sure that you're the only one to have a private key, don't import it to your wallet.
It may bring issues with double spends(by other party) and get your wallet in a poor state and in need of a fix, but it will not allow other party to access your other private keys. Or you may give that address by mistake, to receive funds, and end up with the funds stolen.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 25, 2013, 07:34:50 PM
Could you please guide me how to do this, as I can't figure how to work with command lines.

Thank you
1. go to the folder where bitcoin is installed
2. shift + right-click -> open command window here
3. type "bitcoin-qt -rescan" into the command window (without quotes) and hit enter
4. wait for bitcoin to rescan. this may take 30 minutes.

The command is -reindex, not -rescan.
-reindex is a full replay of the blockchain. It will take longer than 30min.

This is now the top story at forbes.com.

It was also pointed out by Mike Caldwell in the Press section that "FBI" encodes as "324" on a telephone pad.  Does that not seem like too much fanfare for the FBI?

No, not really that much fanfare, just their way to celebrate and rub it on the "criminals"* faces. I've seen cops in my country drawing their initials(PJ, GNR, PSP) with the bank notes they seize, when showing off the stash to the media.

*"Criminals" because when the cops do that most of said "criminals" weren't found yet to be guilty of any crime by a court of law.

How?

Edit it.

I don't use windows, sorry, I don't know.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 25, 2013, 05:44:27 PM
Start it from the command line with the -reindex flag.
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden new largest bitcoin address as of 10/25 on: October 25, 2013, 05:39:38 PM
Good. 170k BTC out of the market.
Up, up, up!

Right, they're just going to throw the key away..

They're not selling them on MtGox, Bitstamp, or BTC-e, either...

239  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling a large amount of BTC on: October 25, 2013, 04:49:26 PM
I didn't see a mention of payment methods.
Large US wire transfers (or similar) only. No ACH, PayPal, Western Union, etc.
