https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/swift-planning-launch-new-central-bank-digital-currency-platform-12-24-months-2024-03-25/
Undecided
https://www.cointribune.com/guerre-des-monnaies-numeriques-le-reseau-swift-lance-un-defi-direct-aux-brics/

222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies take bitcoin as long term Choice to get the best out of bitcoin on: March 29, 2024, 09:58:30 PM
I have read alot of comments from newbies complaining how they investment into bitcoin is at a lose or does not give them they desired result of achieving the financial freedom that bitcoin offers based on they short term wrong bitcoin mentality.

Some newbies locate this forum as soon as they make they first investment into bitcoin, and searching for knowledge and information on they investment, but the original intention is for bitcoin to make them a millionairs in the next day after investment, this is the reason why some of them borrow money to invest in bitcoin or using money that they need to solve real life problems to invest in bitcoin with the aim to make profits in short term.

If you have the above mindset as a newbie investor then you should know that your are on a long ride of being disappointed, because no one know what the outcome will be for bitcoin in terms of bitcoin value in the next minute, that is the reason one need to hold bitcoin with the knowledge of long term in view, to stabilise and build you and your investment up with time, before achieving the true financial freedom.
The beginning of your topic is true and I was about to merit your post because it's quite rare to read that here. Except maybe, the words about the forum, since I don't think many people discover this forum right after investing in Bitcoin, forums are not used much anymore nowadays, people prefer social medias instead. But unfortunately the end of the message is wrong. Despite being a common misleading thought, Bitcoin doesn't offer any guarantee of so-called "financial freedom" or fortune in the short, the middle or the long term. Not more than any gambling game could do actually, it hasn't been designed for that, and it's just a personal bet you do at the end.
223  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What's the best way to create a super/meta/mother/master mnemonic seed? on: March 29, 2024, 09:42:45 PM
Ok, let's narrow down the solution list. Shall we?
Firstly, can you put in order your biggest fears / threats?

  • Thief finding the backup and stealing the money.
  • Backup being destroyed by some unexpected event (fire, flood etc).
  • Locking yourself out of the wallet due to some technical error (example: not being able to re-create a multisig vault properly).
  • Locking yourself out because you have lost / forgotten the backup of the wallet (or a piece of the backup).
  • Losing funds because of a hack (brute-force, malware, keylogger etc).

Add any other threat you want.
To be honest, the 2nd and the 4th event are my biggest fear, and I think the most likely to happen to me, objectively. The first one(robbery) comes after them. And I would put the 2 last ones at the same rank, after those 3. Because if you think you are unable to cope with that, or too much afraid of that, for me it doesn't make sense to invest or at least, to hold critical amounts of funds in cryptocurrencies since it's an inherent risk to this asset.
224  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What's the best way to create a super/meta/mother/master mnemonic seed? on: March 29, 2024, 08:52:54 PM
But it's very difficult to safeguard and safely manage multiple seeds.
Why? Writing down multiple seeds is a small effort to keep your funds safe.
It's not safe enough for me, a sheet of paper can be too easily burnt, torn, erased, lost, eaten... and even with a back-up hidden in another place it's not a convenient solution for me, since I can't go to this place whenever I want, especially within few hours when I need to add a new seed.

Quote
I would like to be able to deterministically produce several bip39 standard mnemonic seeds from an initial one I can protect.
I wouldn't do this. It's probably possible, but too many things can go wrong. For starters: what device are you going to use to create "child" seeds from your "parent" seed? How are you going to keep that safe? How are you going to verify you can still reproduce the same "child" seeds? How are you going to remember which "child" seeds you used for which (exotic) wallet?
I'm looking for a safe and convenient solution precisely, if I already knew one way to address all those matters you are referring to, I wouldn't open a topic for that purpose. But I don't think your first 2 questions are really difficult to overcome. At least, I'm less scared by that, than to lose my seeds because of an unexpected event. The 2 last ones, are more concerning actually.
225  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake Casino Scam Locking 45k$ Balance on: March 29, 2024, 07:44:03 PM
[...]Anyway after 2 months and all the run around. ( I'm guessing for "integrity" reasons) Finally getting the real answer here after the news broke about betting investigation. My bet in question was a Jontay Porter prop bet that has since surfaced that there is a real investigation conducted by the NBA. Don't know why the weird games played by stake with the verification thing maybe just a thing to keep me happy.. and why it took 2 months for the article to finally surface but here we are. Will expect once these investigations are over my funds released thankfully.

To many people win it becomes an investigation, to many people lose with obvious referee interference and its just another tough day for gamblers...
I don't understand, you mean they're publicly lying on Askgamblers? They've posted 7 times during one month there, and I don't see one single message dealing with an investigation on your bet. It's all about KYC and rejection of your documents. Why they don't tell the truth if you are right about an ongoing investigation on this bet? Are they rejecting your documents, because they've decided to not validate your KYC before the end of this investigation? Or are they willing to continue to reject them even if the investigation tells that nothing wrong happened on this bet finally, especially from your part?
226  Local / Échanges / Re: Kucoin on: March 28, 2024, 10:58:11 PM

229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your take? on: March 27, 2024, 10:56:04 PM
When odds are small volatility is lower, so it's easier to predict how your bank roll will be in several bets. While when odds are high, volatility is higher and it's more difficult to guess if you will be in profit or totally rekt. That's why you should remain cautious and only bet small stake on those bets. All is about money management like for trading finally.

233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is Legal In Our Country But if You Promote It Online You'll Go To Jail? on: March 24, 2024, 07:44:46 PM
Unfortunately in some countries, especially asian ones like the one in OP, gambling is a serious social concern, because it's in the habits, the culture and the traditions of people. While in western countries, it's way less socially accepted to play with money and to expose it publicly. So there are severe laws in those countries and governments reguarly take measures to fight against excesses. For example japanese people are known to like gambling and to be high rollers but the authorities take years to open the first casino there, because they are very concerned about the consequences on the population.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Always check the deposit address on: March 24, 2024, 07:28:22 PM
Yeah right, It’s really strange to me that’s why it caught me off guard despite I’m a frequent gambler that usually copy manually my wallet address or check if I’m still using the current address.

This wallet address changes without warning is very dangerous especially that casino claims that they recover the fund out of good will meaning it was supposed to be lost. The only problem is the wallet change is done out of nowhere after I just check the address by myself before I made the loan here to verify that I use the address on that specific casino.
You should name the casino, because it's not a professional and honest behaviour. Nobody would accept that from an exchange. I am frequently paying my VPN with cryptos and the paying/deposit address changes very quickly so it often changes before the transaction has been confirmed but my balance is always credited and I would feel scam if it wasn't. I hope it was just a mistake from the customer support agent but in this situation a professional one should just apologize and instantly credit your balance except if there had been a explicit warning against the use of the address because it had been compromised.
235  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What's the best way to create a super/meta/mother mnemonic seed? on: March 24, 2024, 05:56:30 PM
Your answer is to use the Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) derivation technique used inside most wallets.

When you make a seed phrase, it encodes a Master private key. From this, you can derive more Master private keys given a non-negative number, and a Boolean (hardened or not hardened).

That means you can derive the seed phrase at m/0', m/1', and so on, depending on how many seeds you need, to create your child seed. The ' quote stands for hardened derivation. It prevents the parent key from being reverse-engineered.

IanColeman website should be able to help with that.
Thank you very much for your solution, and sorry if I was not clear enough in my topic but I want to derive BIP39 mnemonic seeds. I don't want to cope with keys because (almost) all wallets accept BIP39 seeds currently. But not all of them accept master keys unfortunately. In addition it's more easy to deal with mnemonic seeds than with BIP32 hexadecimal or base58 keys actually.
236  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What's the best way to create a super/meta/mother/master mnemonic seed? on: March 24, 2024, 05:32:27 PM
Hello
For obvious privacy concerns, I would like to be able to use several wallets based on different seeds. But it's very difficult to safeguard and safely manage multiple seeds.
So I would like to be able to deterministically produce several bip39 standard mnemonic seeds from an initial one I can protect. But I don't want to be able to find back the initial seed in any way from one or several daughter seeds. And I don't want to be able to find any sister seed from one or several other ones.
What is the most convenient way to do that please?
238  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is it possible to convert WIF to seed phrases (BIP39)? on: March 24, 2024, 04:43:34 PM
https://github.com/alexeyneu/base58_2048

msvc 2019 project with cmake build support.
in windows you should have libcrypto.dll next to .exe files, not included
wif key is 27 words. upd  24 w support added

if you really know what you're doing you can extract wif to 32-byte then base58 it on your own  and then supply latter to the tool. you'll have shorter phrase upd It's now there.
Why did your project produce 27 words initially instead of 24? And now why it gives a normal 24 words length? What have you changed?
There is a checksum at the end of your 24 words mnemonic seed? There is one too in your 27 words one?
What do you mean precisely when you say "you can extract wif to 32-byte then base58 it on your own  and then supply latter to the tool"
You mean we have to use a base58 convertor and not a base58check one ?
239  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is it possible to convert WIF to seed phrases (BIP39)? on: March 24, 2024, 12:29:56 AM
into a whole binary number that will be converted into its hexadecimal value, and apply bx base58check-encode to this value to get back your WIF key.

What are you talking about precisely? Could you use a translator please, it's not the first time you talk to me about this function and last time you were already wrong despite your rude words  Undecided.

This is the result I get on my computer, is it wrong? It's the same one as JohanM above for the base58check to hexadecimal conversion and the same I get with this online tool.
And ofc the base58check-encode command give back the right WIF key from this value, as expected.

Kudos if it really comes from a advice from you, because it's a really nice idea IMO. It could attract more bettors. The prize pool for this bet is already near 0.03BTC, it seems to interest people. I hope more fights will be added in the coming weeks.
Have you seen UFC event on Freebitco before? I checked events archive and didn't discover any single UFC event, that's why I posted it here. Since they posted the first UFC event soon after my last post, I expect they took this advice from me and I am very happy for that. I would love to see many UFC and boxing events listed on Freebitco, that will be amazing!
No I've never seen one bet of this kind before as far as I remember, so it pleasantly surprised me when I saw it. It's nice to see they are actually listening users here and constantly improving their offer. Kudos to the Freebitcoin team for that. I didn't see your post when you made it but I finally found it https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=320959.msg63766387#msg63766387
Anyway it seems to be a very good start for such event ie a women fight at a random UFC Fight Night : 36.4 mbtc in the prize pool 3 hours before closing.
