902  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Help identifying old wallet by weird seed phrase on: September 11, 2023, 06:06:48 PM
So I happened to find a seed phrase for an old wallet used to receive the five free coins from the faucet in 2010. Unfortunately I have no clue about which wallet it is.

The seed phrase is only 8 words of 7 characters, and is not BIP39.

After whole lot of googling I encountered this wordlist, and all the words appear there http://rabbit.eng.miami.edu/dics/amerlen/length07.txt Several of the words are not even proper english words, but do appear on that list and nowhere else relevant. The wordlist has 108824 words, and the words in phrase seem to be spread over the whole range.

Will pay 10% for tip leading to access.
1088248 is a huge number dude, it's around the same as 204812.17. Nowadays most seeds are still 12words length drawn among a word list of 2048 items. So even if we don't take into account the checksum bits, the entropy of your seed is higher than a current common seed (with the checksum there are 128(11x11+7) real bits of entropy instead of 132(12x11) which is equivalent to 204811.64 combinations)
So if you don't know which software has generated it, you won't be able to break it until several computer generations. Because currently the only way to break that is to know the potential shortcomings of the software that created it

904  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Usb Encryption on: September 10, 2023, 07:59:58 PM
You do not have to encrypt the seed phrase because you can simply create a BIP39 passphrase. In this case, the seed phrase itself is useless without the additional passphrase, which you can write down and store in a safe location separately from the seed phrase.

How do i create a passphrase for my wallet which i have already created?
You can just create a new wallet with the same seed on the iancoleman page (offline) for example or in a wallet accepting it, but with an extra passphrase and then just transferring your assets over there. The wallet won't be the same of course, but you will just need to store a new passphrase, since you have already back up your seed and it stays the same.
Another strategy allowing to keep the same wallet could be to encrypt your initial entropy with BIP38 like explained here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5437245.msg61725941#msg61725941 or with SLIP39 https://github.com/satoshilabs/slips/blob/master/slip-0039.md
When you will need to use your seed you will have to decipher and to derive it from the encrypted entropy, but your seed will be secured at least. You can get back this entropy from your seed by reversing the first part of the BIP39 algorithm. That is to say by getting the rank of each word of the seed into the BIP39 wordlist, subtracting 1, converting each number in binary radix and removing the part corresponding to the checksum.

We talking or we buying? I’m already up with 1740+ wheel of fortune spins and I can’t wait for the base reward to increase and I end up spinnig all of them. I am also looking forward to spin them just right before Lamborghini prize draw happens. I want to spin at the last movement and hope to get some GT as well. Who knows I might just capture a ticket that is meant for winning.

Since it’s just a month left for that event to declare the winners I think it’s right time to go for it. Though I keep telling myself I am more or less RP and Sats fan, but since it’s close to GT event who isn’t excited?
I also have a rather large amount of WOF spins to use but I don't know if it's the right moment or not. Actually I think BTC can go lower in the coming weeks or couple of months. It will be sad if it's the opposite because I will certainly need to wait for a longtime before BTC go back again under 26k if it starts to bull run, but when the amount of WOF is a bit large it make a real difference when the price is higher or lower.
906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is right about Bitcoin? on: September 10, 2023, 06:58:31 PM
You don't need to be confused if someone or the media describes Bitcoin. They may use words they think are easier for their followers to understand. You can use different words from them so that you can get a better understanding.

Some people even say Bitcoin is digital gold, which is normal. This is all about how people can understand Bitcoin. So you have to be able to understand it.

I knew the word Bitcoin earlier than cryptocurrency or altcoin. I don't know what altcoins are and I consider Litecoin, Dash, and XMR the same as Bitcoin. It's really funny if I remember it Grin
I'm not sure it's totally ok to name it like that in order to just point it out, because some stable coins are backed by gold and are real digital gold, so it can be confusing. In addition it can mislead laymen who can think it's an asset with the same stability as gold which is one of the smallest, while it's an highly volatile asset with one of the highest volatility among commodities and similar assets.

It's sad to see this kind of advices to newcomers and newbies here. Satoshi Nakamoto has not created Bitcoin to be stored like dwarfs and dragons are hoardering gold in tales and legends books, but to be used as a new mean of payment, uncensorable and unseizable. He even named it : A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. Bitcoin get its value from adoption, so if nobody uses it and prefers just "hodling" it, it won't increase its value anymore and will even losing it instead.
909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Face unlock on bitcoin wallet devices on: September 09, 2023, 09:45:50 PM
Maybe he find it hassle since he will not say that if he think its good for him. I also didn't use that feature but not  the same with his reason since I just don't like to use it as we can't avoid to get wound on our hands and I'm worried about if we can't use our finger print to open up our wallet.  But for other its still good since this is additional security measure added for protection so if a user feel to use it then its really a good decision to do. For face unlock well I don't also use that and still doubting to try this feature.
Usually you can always use a pin code to unlock your wallet instead and you can add several fingers from both hands for the fingerprint, so even if you are wounded at several fingers or at a whole hand you will still be able to use the feature with the fingers remaining if you have registered all your fingers, and if you really can't use any of them for some reasons you can use the pin code as an alternative.
I am quoting you both.

@ultrloa. For face unlock, it is not a better security, it will only depreciate the security. It is not advisable at all. I have not seen a wallet that has that feature yet, but on phone, I will not advice people to use it because it is not secure at all.

@Saint-loup. All wallets that have fingerprint also have pin or password, you can enable both if you want. But the secure and safe way is to use only pin or password.
According to who precisely? Pin code or password are not safer, because you can easily lost or forget them, and they can also easily be stolen by someone next to you when you are typing them, or by anyone finding the sheet of paper where you've archived them. Stealing fingerprints is way more difficult, and you are very unlikely to lose them, if you have register all your fingers. But you can try to register some of your toes too, if you are afraid of losing all your fingers.
910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 09, 2023, 09:27:28 PM
What you are describing are just common characteristics from almost all new small casinos, so I don't understand how you are making the difference betwen honest and dishonest ones. When a new casino is launched it can't get many reviews immediately, it can't buy a huge amount of games from providers, it can't have a big capital for its bankroll and it can't work out as smoothly as a 10years one. So it's a little bit harsh to advise people against using it and trusting them. Big and famous crypto casinos are also scamming customers.

Of course you can, but in this section it's highly recommended to open thread threads in self-moderate mode, in order to avoid getting spammed. Unfortunately many people here just post to fulfill some quotas of their signature campaign and don't care about the gambling matter. But I'm curious to know how you will present your predictions, will you evaluate the certainty of your prediction, by giving a score on 5 or 10 points for example?

914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using Statistical Data to Win Sports Betting Picks on: September 08, 2023, 09:22:38 PM
I think statistical data should never be treated reliable in sports betting. Especially with sports involving 10-20 people its sometimes up to their concentration/mentality etc. Statistics can help you as subsidiary support to your bet. I mean you could be familiar with both teams in a football match and pick a bit but after check if stats support it. But using stats only would result in instant losses in my opinion.
Using stats only would result in instant losses in your opinion? You are kidding I guess. How do you evaluate the chances of a team to beat another one without looking at stats? I don't understand. You just watch few matches of those teams on TV, and you are able to guess their chances to win against each other? Or you are just listening and reading what some famous commentators are saying? How are you able to know the level of concentration/mentality of each players (or at least the main ones) before the start of the match btw? Are you able to win something at the end with this strategy?
915  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: September 08, 2023, 08:47:58 PM
That's an exaggeration. There is no widespread and solid proof they are the most powerful and feared. Also, people did not avoid talking about them in any way.
Really? If it's not them, which other group is it? Could you name it here? Do you often see the FBI doing this kind of press release for a hack that did not even happen in their jurisdiction by the way? I hope for you they are not reading the thread, I wouldn't make fun with that, it's not a joke to do with this kind of people. In the press release, the FBI accuses them of being the culprits of the $100million hack of Atomic wallet in June.
916  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: September 08, 2023, 09:18:24 AM
Very well articulated and insightful comment indeed, but honestly, I have never heard of this so called Lazarus group before, and even though there is no mention or pointer to why the FBI has attributed the hack to this group, but I am personally assuming the group has a particular way they conduct and carry out their operations which the FBI is already familiar with ..

But then again , the fact that you categorically made it clear that there is no way stake is getting back the money even when a group behind the hack is already identified, leaves me with more pressing questions like ..

Why and what do we have special security agents for ?
The country in question, don't they have security agents? Are there any efforts being made to uncover and catch all those who are members of this group? Because I personally believe they are not spirits, they are humans like every one of us living in the same world we all live in, have the same blood and water flowing through their vain, why are they so untouchable?

Is this one of the proves that security agents are only meant to go after and catch only the common criminals out there, and not the high and mighty ones ?
The Lazarus group is certainly the most powerful and the most feared hacking group of the world currently, you must have heard of them before but you should not remember. People avoid to talk about them on internet in addition. It's not a very good news for Stake, if they are targeting by them to be honest. I think FBI is replying to some of your questions in their press release.

917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Still not a safe practice even if it works on: September 07, 2023, 09:58:52 PM
I have seen a few pieces of content online that are saying Stake, Fortune Jack, Casino Gap and few others are VPN-friendly.

Are users on here agreeing on these few mentioned online casino? I am asking this because I believe those who still use VPN on these casinos are not safe.

Because using a VPN is not openly acceptable by these online casinos, there is no where it's written on their website, I know readers might feel like, why would they wrote such on their website when the law isn't permitting such?

Well, what will stop them from using this against you too as a gambler? Bypassing restrictions is not the problem, but it was never allowed officially, meaning you should accept whatever will be thrown in your face.

What do you think?
For Stake it's quite confusing because Eddie is using a VPN in his streams to access it when he plays from Australia, since Stake blocks connections from this country.
But their ToS say it's not allowed
Quote
14.4 The attempt to manipulate your real location through the use of VPN, proxy, or similar services or through the provision of incorrect or misleading information about your place of residence, with the intent to circumvent geo-blocking or jurisdiction restrictions, constitutes a breach of Clause 5 of this Terms of Service.
https://stake.com/policies/terms
So if you are losing money there I don't think you'll encounter issues but if you win money, especially at sportsbook you will very likely get your account locked.
The ToS of Fortunejack don't seem to talk about it, and they've made an article promoting it on their blog. So I guess it's allowed there.

You should be careful of what he told above, he literally asked here if he could open 10 alt-accounts in order to milk the perks more efficiently, and now he's asking about using VPN... IMO the better answer is to ask him why he doesn't just try to use the site fairly like a normal random user instead of looking for ways to make money from it.
You are hugely mistaken, I am not going to abuse their system, these are just fair questions that I want to know, usually you'll see that almost every casino has these questions in their FAQ but since I was unable to find them on Freebitco, I asked this in this thread. You probably don't know but I have a thread in Service Discussion board - List of VPN Service Providers. The reason why I asked about VPN usage is that majority of people on this forum value privacy and I'm one of them too. So, please, be careful what you say.
I'm sorry bro, I just didn't understand it was just for some privacy reasons, since it wasn't written in your post, and you asked it right after someone replied to you that multi-accounting was forbidden like in most casinos and gambling sites elsewhere. As someone else told above, you should be more explicit next time maybe, because it could be very easily interpreted in a bad way. It's pretty uncommon to see someone in a thread from a casino, asking if he can open several accounts in order to make more money from perks, so I have been confused.

Cloudflare is basically a legitimized man-in-the-middle attack, ie. while the data gets encrypted between User / Cloudflare and Cloudflare / ChipMixer the data still gets decrypted -- and possibly stored -- on Cloudflare's server.
This is correct.
In case of other mixers using CloudFlare, CloudFlare knows your input address and output addresses. In our case, if we would use CloudFlare, CloudFlare would know input addresses and private keys. CloudFlare is US company so it is reasonable to think that any three letter institution could get an access by court order.
In this report the FBI claims that you were hosting Chipmixer website at a US provider DigitalOcean until May 2022, why have you made this choice if you think US companies can easily hand over access to any "three letter institution"?

Quote
Until May 2022, chipmixer.com was a functional clearnet website that was hosted at a U.S. virtual private server (VPS) provider, DigitalOcean.

Your assumption was right indeed, because they claim to have accessed it in November 2021.

Quote
On November 23, 2021, the FBI served a federal search warrant to DigitalOcean for chipmixer.com, which was located at the IP address 46.101.124.25. DigitalOcean provided the FBI an image of the server.
