2301  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The end of BitConnect on: November 30, 2017, 02:15:35 PM
Hi I am new and I wanted to share my thoughts about this auto trading system called BitConnect.

I believe that it is about to be shutdown and a catastropic event may occur to the Bitcoin economy.

Please check out my article and let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

http://howtoinvestinbitcoins.blogspot.com/2017/11/bitconnect-ponzi-scheme-is-about-to.html

There have been several warnings and notifications all over the web on the warnings about bitconnect and even this pm, I have gotten another one from 999bitcoins still on warnings against bitconnect but it seems those who want to 'make money' by all means necessary will give you several reasons why they think that is the best way to go as I know of several people who are even into it as we speak.

My honest opinion is that, the more we talk about it, the more popular because it then mean that someone who has not been introduced through the referral system, can want to go check it and stuck with it based on the mouth watering returns it promises which is even not close to being practicable.
2302  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining on: November 30, 2017, 11:55:22 AM
Hi,

i am new to the topic of bitcoin and mining. I want to invest a bit of money, not much around 100$ in mining. I just want to purchase the hashrate and wait for the payouts.
I want to join a pool because it is more profitable than single mining, isnt it? Please correct me if i am wrong because i dont know anything about this topic.

I tried to join the antpool because it is the biggest one and a lot of people will become angry if the website shuts down isnt it, but i cant find a button which let me choose my hash rate, like genesis mining where i can buy packages. Thats what i want but i heard genisis mining is scam.

So my questions are:
1. I want secruity that means i dont want to invest in a scam site which goes offline in 10 years or smth.
2. Can a pool or website be prosecuted and the investors get their money back or is it hard to do so
3. is there a german forum because my english is not the best Wink

I want something like invest 100$ and get 1 bitcoin in 6 month or something like that if you know what i mean.
Can you recommend something?

Kind regards Florian

In anything we do, objective matters which is what I have bolded there but the issue is that, if that is what you are targeting, I would suggest you tried another area of interest because there is no way that can happen in 6 months and not even cloud mining no matter how profitable it is. If its not greediness tell me how you want to turn $100 to over $11000 in 6 months just by buying hash rates. If someone should even offer you that kind of investment, you should run because that is scam and there is no two way to it.
2303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will supply of fiat-currency/credits in the world stop being pumped? on: November 30, 2017, 09:38:24 AM

When will central banks in the world, as an aggregate, stop increasing the supply of fiat-currency/credit in the world?
?
? Anyone ?

The truth of the matter is that they wont stop. Government is in perpetuity which and the Central Banks are the ones behind it for government to still function, one key element that must stand is the economy. Even after it has failed several times, there is no alternatives on the contrary. Today, United States owed larger percentage of the total world debt but the government is still borrowing, dollars is still available to support all of the government activities and even by borrowing more.

The moment governments stop giving support to fiat, everything would have gone haywire, the price of goods and services would have shown their true state which might be unattainable and the real pump and dump would have been witnessed from that end. The politicians on the otherhand have to protect themselves for the next election so they have to keep the status quo.
2304  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Big problem with cryptocurrency used in ecommerce !!! on: November 30, 2017, 06:01:18 AM
Here is a problem

when you buy something on Amazon or other small ecommerce websites, you can trace your money transfer.
If been scammed, you can call police and bank for help!

So what if you buy something on a website using bitcoin ? !

You paid bitcoin, but they don't deliver the product, then what ?

No bank help, cos bit coin is decentralized
Police?  it's very easy to use fake information to buy domain and hosting, and use tor to hide the IP!

That is very true and fact as an earlier poster have said. When it comes to bitcoin because of its uniqueness means you should not place your own security in the hands of others rather be the one responsible for it. So, if you want to buy from a site using bitcoin, the first you want to established is how trust worthy the site is before going ahead.

I am sure that if Amazon should implement bitcoin payment today, there would be away to ensure that buyers and sellers are protected so it means its not about bitcoin as a payment option but the platform you are making the purchases from.
2305  Other / Meta / Re: Guy advertises his services in my Service Thread! Is it allowed? on: November 29, 2017, 09:05:06 PM
So, I am a Romanian Translator. And one Greek Translator advertises his services in my Thread. Is that allowed?

This is my Service Thread where that guy posted this ad: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2346118

Can an admin delete his post? How can I prevent such posts from happening?

Report it and use Self Moderated for your next thread.

That is the only option you have now. Even though I had not read anywhere in the forum rules whether officially or not, as to whether its wrong to post is someone else thread, its just does not feel right to do. If you want to advertise, create your own thread and run. But I doubt if the mod will want to bother  themselves on something as simple as that

You would have saved a lot of trouble if your thread has been self moderated as you won't even have the need to report to the mod or create another thread here.
2306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would losing Net Neutrality affect bitcoin? on: November 29, 2017, 07:20:50 PM
Would losing Net Neutrality affect bitcoin? What do you think?

There is no way this will not affect the bitcoin because having read on this subject matter, it takes away everything that internet stands for. It then means we have gone 10 years backward to the path of freedom and the moment that is threatened, bitcoin is threatened and I cannot but think that there is an element of attack against bitcoin from all of this.

The moment they can do that, it then means that Internet Service Providers can either decide to ban users from visiting all sites relating to bitcoin and its related services and at this time, most blockchain projects, have not been developed to the point where they can provide their own internet.
2307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India and Russia ban Bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 06:39:11 PM

Times without number there have been news about banning here and there but unfortunately for them and fortunately for bitcoin, the effect is always ephemeral only for bitcoin to bounce back and become more solid in price more than the initial price it was before the purported ban in the first place.

What I see here is government trying to discourage to a large extent the people coming into bitcoin pending the time they were able to find a way to control bitcoin because they themselves know they cannot do anything about it at this moment only if they want to continue in deceiving themselves.
2308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC value is growing day by day ? on: November 28, 2017, 05:45:51 AM
A lot of reasons are responsible for the increasing price of bitcoin that sometimes one begins to worry because you cannot identify the specific reason why its really happening and this is something of concern to people with genuine interest to bitcoin other than the capitalist in my opinion.

The reasons will be largely unconnected to the continued increase in the popularity of bitcoin coupled with the series of news of development that have happened in the past that is just manifesting at this time as those are the only two reasons of course there are some observations about pump here and there though.
2309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has reached 11k USD in India on: November 28, 2017, 04:01:35 AM
The price of bitcoin is different in those countries because there is much more demand in there than in other countries.

The opposite is happening on Venezuela, there are more sellers than buyers, and this is the reason of why all those people from there are desesperated about dumping their coins at least at 10 percent less than the coinmarketcap price.

I dont know why the price really changes between all those countries, i think that it is only based on the supply and demain of it, but obviously that the sellers/buyers are always taking their own profit from that, and they are taking advantage of the situation of their country.

Several factors might be responsible across countries. Its largely going to be due to the ongoing news about the uncertainty of the future of bitcoin in certain countries and because Venezuela is not controlling a large portion in the market structure, it seems its an isolated case.

For the Indians pushing the price, I think its largely due to their population which is good but also might signal some effect from the authorities to take some actions because since bitcoin is not regulated the amount of money in other to make such news might distort the social order in some ways which government might not take lightly.
2310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has reached 11k USD in India on: November 27, 2017, 09:41:26 PM
What do you think of the title? Today I checked the BTC price in local exchange website and I found this! is this-this the right time to sell BTC or buy btc.
Let us know your thoughts on this.

Everybody with different perspective of how things should go. Your own right time to sell, is another person right time to buy and the cycle goes on and on like that. At this point of btc life, I don't think anyone should either be carjoled to either buy or someone be begged not to sell because for you opening a trade, someone else is ready to mop it up without thinking twice.

So, just ask yourself if you are ready for what happen next the moment the btc leaves your wallet because the most painful is to see something left your wallet at say $4500 and in about 48hrs that same $4500 has changed to say $4800 without any stress other than exercising patience.
2311  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto now worth more than visa! on: November 26, 2017, 07:57:03 PM
Take a look at this article that was posted just about an hour ago:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/cryptocurrencies-surpass-market-cap-of-visa-at-285-billion/amp/

It seems like crypto currency really is the future; we've overcome one of the largest currency services that is used INTERNATIONALLY. I think that's pretty amazing and is a hint of what we may see in 2018. What do you think?

Reading the article, I would say its more of comparing unrelated items and from that trying to make one looks good more than the other. Visa is a payment company just like MasterCard or PayPal that enables people to have access to their money for those who relies on the debit cards as against the credit cards which you are allowed to spend more than what you have.

Cryptocurrency on the other hand is not just one company but series of coins being valued. Now comparing a ton of coins with a company and saying one is better off, is just an uninformed conclusion if you ask me.
2312  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinGather is officially hacked on: November 26, 2017, 04:10:48 PM
I haven't deposited there anything or even don't have any account there. I have never heard that name before, I don't think many have lost their coins with it.

However it looks like there are few traders who used to hold quite good amount of bitcoin there.
Quote
Coingather’s 24-hour trade volume as being just 11.32 BTC, or around $93,000
$93000 daily trade volume means atleast 11BTC+ has gone...

Its just becoming hard everyday to have a trust on the exchange sites in the crypto world entirely both the established ones and not so popular ones

For the established ones, in as much as they the likelihood of them running off with users money, is low (although its a possibility), they are fond if series of policy change that would take effect immediately, bad customer support that tickets will have to be open for several days, etc.

And for the not so popular ones, they tend to be more faster with answering of tickets but at the same time they really don't have much to lose in terms of reputation like the case of what is happening here so they can just betray clients confidence and bolt as they wish.

Moral of the story, the moment you have huge funds on an exchange, never wait till tomorrow before taking action, that might be the most costly mistake ever made
2313  Economy / Securities / Re: Escrowed Investment site on: November 25, 2017, 06:02:06 PM
From what I see in your earlier post, you claim to offer escrow service for an HYIP exactly because I want to know how you do it? An HYIP whose only motive is to scam innocent victims who are newbies and greedy, exploit that part and in 3 months or even less, they are no where to be found.

The escrow you provided, do you then distribute it to their victims or you gave them a review based on the amount they put so that people can trust them? Either way, you cannot provide escrow for an HYIP if you are not an HYIP yourself. You don't give what you don't have.
2314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help! Faucets Are Wasting My Time. I Need Better Ways To Earn Bitcoins Asap on: November 25, 2017, 03:53:41 PM
Good day everybody, I have spent more than one year earning satoshi's from faucet sites and it has amounted to little or nothing to me. I sincerely need the help of professionals here, I need urgent advice and tips on how to earn about $100 worth of Bitcoins in a month.
Note:  This is an SOS call, I await critical solutions urgently.

One year for satoshis and you didn't find another way? You must have been carried away with the cents rather than gathering knowledge on how to expand your income with the several opportunities that bitcoin offers, a lot of people don't even have to stay more than six months before getting their footings and doing it right..

My thinking about satoshis is to get you interested in bitcoin and get the understanding for you to move on and not to rely on it like you have done. If you read a lot you will realize that those giving you ideas might have even joined bitcoin, long after you.
2315  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING Neteller takes your bitcoins and gives you joke money on: November 25, 2017, 02:09:27 PM

Since the debit card blackout, out of the EU and USA. I decided to try out neteller to cash some bitcoins I threw 5 dollars they charged me 7 included the mining fees. (maybe that's ok since mining fees have skyrocket)
I tried lots of purchases none of them worked. Today they informed me that since the deposit is made in bitcoins it only can be spend in select commerces and banks. (I imagine they actually meant that those dollars can only be used in European banks  Huh Huh, I don't know what they actually are trying to say with that)
Here is a proof of the many transactions I tried to do and all where cancelled by neteller.

And some are even European based because it's common practice to process transactions in tax-free countries, like Luxembourg.

Hope this works as warning !!

You just didn't check well before going that route of spending your bitcoin. The issue is all these other payment platforms are against bitcoin and if you had read well, I think someone also faced the same situation some weeks back. I can't just place the thread now.

What you need to do is to find a way to sell to individuals in your locality. One thing is sure not only you is facing this kind of issue. Another is go through a peer to peer site where you can change your btc with someone who have what you wanted with the myriad of options available. Stay away from skrill, netteller, etc they will only rob you.
2316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Destroyed my life-bitcoin Investor on: November 25, 2017, 01:22:57 PM
I'm going to be as honest and blunt as possible. You need to find better things to write on your website than Reddit stories from 3 years ago if you want it to succeed. That story is irrelevant today.
This is the original comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2keueb/my_thanks_to_you_all_bitcoin_has_changed_my_life/clkmqp9/
I hope this guy is in a better condition now. If he held his Bitcoin that would be $700k now.

On a side note, it now seems that we will truly be at 10k soon.

Thank you for shedding light on the story because a lot of people who have commented did not even bother to read in other to ascertain whether the news exist or not. Just like the man that invested his life savings on bitcoin not too long ago, a lot of people who have castigated him for making such decision at a time when things are rough, quote his story and even call him stupid but the same set of people won't make him a role model at this time when that decision has finally paid off.

Everybody is at liberty to make his own decision depending on how he/she deems it fit but unfortunately people who cannot make such or ever take some hard decision in their  entire lives will be the one to judge.
2317  Economy / Economics / Re: "Bubbles" Made Bitcoin Stronger on: November 25, 2017, 11:23:15 AM
I will want to take a contrary view to that because holding the position that bubble makes bitcoin stronger is admitting that bitcoin is really a bubble and if if follow that path, we might end up to the point where the bubble does not hold things together again.

Its true a lot of people are putting money into bitcoin with the hope of it skyrocket but that's is a wrong motive because people like that are the ones that expand the panics immediately there is little drop in price. So bubble does not make bitcoin stronger, it's just a misconception.
2318  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex Issue New Trading Policy Says all Stale Orders Will Be Removed on: November 25, 2017, 09:12:42 AM
Bittrex one of the largest altcoin trading exchange has announced its new trading policy. This announcement comes hours after it witness a DDOS attack on it software. The tweets from bittrex @bittrexexchange comfirmed that attack.

What Is DDOS Attack?

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. They target a wide variety of important resources, from banks to news websites, and present a major challenge to making sure people can publish and access important information.

This attack could be the reason why it decided to adjust it trading policy to unloads it software of irrelevant trades and information. In an email sent to all it subscribers its reads.
Read More At https://bitzamp.com/bittrex-issue-new-trading-policy-traders/

DDoS attack is something that major sites have to battle with every time and there is no end in sight because it will continue to happen but the way to tackle it I see here is just trial and error. They found a way to get over something they have been having issues with and they see the DDos attack as a way to ensure that. The question is what is the definition of "stale" it could be one month or six months either way, its now on individual to always check their trades every now and then rather than being hopeful that it will be filled only to get there and discover its being cancelled even without their approval.

I just wished others can promote the medium exchange sites that have been trying hard to make names for themselves rather than increasing the power of the already established ones.
2319  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Solution For Services Who Want To Adopt Bitcoin on: November 25, 2017, 07:53:42 AM
It's a big concern from businessesmen to start accepting Bitcoins on their stores, restaurants, etc. And one of the main reasons is because the time the transaction takes to be confirmed is too long. Then I was thinking what could be useful for them: To let their customers open a account on the service's site and add BTCs to their balances.

Then, when the customer goes the place and buy/pay for something, the amount will be deduct from this balance. So you don't need to worry about sending low transactions paying expensive fees and about waiting too much time to have your transaction confirmed.

What do you think?

This is a concern really but at the same time a lot of alternatives are being provided it might not be to the extent we want it but the timing can be reduced and at same time the fees can be eliminated. What you proposed is something I have seen happen for a peer to peer site. What is made available is an API which a merchant can install on his site, if I as a buyer wants to pay, this linked up to the site itself, the transfer is done and no transaction fee is paid, confirmation time is even the fastest I have ever seen.

But the concern is that, you cannot force your clients to open account on your preferred site but hopefully things can get better with all the various development going on.
2320  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange related question on: November 25, 2017, 02:54:04 AM
Greetings guys,

I am new to the bitcoin ecosystem. I used some websites like coinbase and stuff..

I am just wondering...  Wink Wink Wink Wink

how did exchanges find  initial buyers and sellers ?.
How did poloniex , coinbase and others got all the users ?.

your help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jijo John

The first thing to know about the crypto world is that the market is there as usérs are spread across the whole world all that is needed is to create a workable project and let t decide for itself. Like someone have  rightly said that's its advertisement through targeted ads but I also took a look from the angle of promotion by asking to use the platform without the payment of fee then ask for review or even as them to find a bug for a bounty.

This two options will give the site its first set of clients and as the day go by, it begin to increase up to the point that other services will be doing the advertisement for you for example, I didn't get to know about those sites from their advert but for projects that see being listed on that platform as an achievement so they announce with all their abilities.
