Quickseller has quite an eloquent grasp of the English language. Thule speaks English as a second language and has quite a distinctive writing style.

First of all, I would like to thank you for noticing my elegance.

You are correct, I am not Thule. I do not use any alt accounts, and have not for quite some time now, except for one known alt very occasionally. I do however appear to owe quite a lot of people a lot of back rent, as it seems I am living in many people's heads.

When I was reading H8bussesNbicycles' thread, I was speculating he was intentionally using very poor english in order to hide his "main" account, which I assumed has decent reputation. Without knowing with certainty he is reputable, I cannot support him, and his specific methods of achieving his cause.

Timelord2067 seems to piece together a lot of irrelevant information and come to conclusions not based on logic. I would suggest to ignore his trust ratings, but it seems that many already disagree with that as he is on some trust lists.
2322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to restart the blockchain? on: February 11, 2019, 08:27:09 AM
The most recent block found was block 562554. Perhaps there could be a HF so that the genius block has a block reward matching all of the unspent outputs as of block 500000, and that all subsequent blocks remain unchanged. This would effectively cement the first 500k blocks, but they are realistically not going to change.

Would this result in a decreased ability to "verify" the blockchain and all previous transactions? Yes. However it would also save HDD space when Bitcoin users want to store the entire blockchain, and network resources when new nodes attempt to download the entire blockchain. The drawbacks should be weighed with the benefits when entities decide to support this potential HF to potentially form sufficient consensus for a HF.
2323  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Capitalism and the exploitation of labor on: February 11, 2019, 06:52:49 AM
You are describing problems with globalism.

Your "a" assumption is flawed, and should be reworded:
"A. People are paid wages according to the “fair” market value of their skill with wages limited by the amount of value they add"

Companies will not pay more than a worker contributes but they will not pay an unnecessarily high wage. If a car company has a plant in Ohio, it needs to employ people in Ohio, and will need to pay a sufficiently high wage so that workers with sufficient skills will be willing to work for them, but so long as they have sufficient number of workers, will not pay so much that an abundance of qualified people are willing to work for them.

In general, the cost of living is much lower in Mexico (along with the standard of living), and as such, workers are willing to work for less than workers in the US are willing to work for.
2324  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 11, 2019, 06:41:26 AM
I'm uncertain about Bezos. The Washington Post has a clear anti-Trump and left-leaning bias, but maybe Bezos purchased it because he wanted to prevent a major newspaper from dying, and he actually does give them a lot of independence. Maybe any pro-Bezos bias by the Post is more of a subconscious thing by their employees than anything (ie. if they know who butters their bread, it'll affect their thinking whether anyone realizes/wants it or not).
Some have speculated The Washington Post purchase was to help with anti-trust issues it was having at the time, along as being a non-traditional way to lobby those in government in Washington.

I don't think it is appropriate for The WaPo to report on Amazon related news the way it does. For example using unnamed sources is troubling because Bezos could potentially order the identity of any confidential sources to be given to him (someone critical of him/Amazon), or he could be directing someone to be a confidential source to "leak" information it doesn't want to explicitly say (such as they are considering not using NYC as one of their HQ2 sites).

But far more likely than a major technological attack is that Sanchez's security was shit and someone going through piles of hacked accounts stumbled across this. Or something like that. (Some sources are saying that she just gave the info to others...)
The attorney for the Enquirer was on one of the Sunday news shows today and said their source was someone known to Bezos who has been a source for a long time.

My suspicion is it was either someone in his Wife's family or his Mistresses family (or the women themselves).

The claim the Enquirer's reporting on Bezos' affair was politically motivated came from the WaPo. If it turns out there is nothing to support this, the Washington Post would then be peddling politically motivated fake news against the Enquirer to make Bezos look good. The same is true (to a lesser extent) in regards to the WaPos reporting that the source of the leaks may be "a government" although the WaPo's source on this was Bezos' head of security.

This is too bad. He was able to help a lot of people who maybe didn't understand all the norms around here not look like a scammer (such as reminding those wanting to start lending threads that someone trusted should hold all collateral).
2326  Other / Meta / Re: For Theymos on: February 10, 2019, 11:02:58 PM

I’m personally of the opinion that DT should be completely ignored by the time you've spent a year here and have formed your own opinions on who to trust. The fact that 5 year veterans here still care about it is a problem with the community, not the system itself. If you've done 50 BTC in trades, who cares if you get negative feedback for getting into a fight with some guy. If you are an honest trader, you are an honest trader, if you aren't trading then what does it matter anyway? If you get labeled as a scammer wrongfully before you have a business history built up, use escrow. Thats how things always were before DT, it shouldn't be any different now, just because theres a tool in place to help out newbies who don't know any better.
There are a couple of problems with this statement. First of all, using escrow costs money, so the 1% standard fee is going to eat into any potential profits.

Secondly, if someone is competing with others offering similar services and receives a negative rating for arbitrary reasons, they will lose business all else being equal. Potential customers will be wary of trading with you. Running a business will be difficult if not impossible.

If there is someone who trades here only occasionally, they cannot be reasonably expected to develop a good trust network, nor keep up with whose ratings are good and whose are bad. As such, people who only occasionally use the trust system will use DT even if they have been here for a long time.
2327  Other / Meta / Re: For Theymos on: February 10, 2019, 09:52:53 PM

Were you a massive trader on here & those neg trusts have ruined your life so you can’t put food on the table any more?

If this was the case, he certainly should have stolen from others, right? There should be no argument against him having a warning to others trading with him. By your description he has a lot of trading experience.

Or are you saying it is not unusual to receive negative ratings for arbitrary reasons that have nothing to do with the chances of the person trying to scam others?
2328  Economy / Reputation / Re: @suchmoon could you provide info on this on: February 10, 2019, 09:44:49 PM
IMO, the best course of action is for the thread to be locked and bones to remove the negative.

Regardless of the legitimacy of the rating, locking the thread will remove the underlying issue, which has previously been the standard to remove ratings.

If the PM is from a zero post newbie, it isn’t credible as displayed. If the OP receives additional verifiable evidence about suchmoon, he can unlock the thread.
2329  Economy / Reputation / Re: @suchmoon could you provide info on this on: February 10, 2019, 08:56:06 PM

The statement doesn't need to be "proven" false, it needs to be proven true. The truth is an affirmative defense against defamation. And one only needs to show that the statement is more likely than not. You should know that logically, its much harder to prove something is false. The only way is to prove something is false is to show that the assumption that it is false leads to a contradiction. Also, in most jurisdictions in the US, accusing someone of a crime that turns out to be untrue is "defamatory per se" and doesn't require someone to prove the have had real monetary damages.
Suchmoon could be considered a "public figure" or a "limited purpose public figure" and under CA statutory law, she would have to affirmatively prove the statement to be false.

You really think that if suchmoon pursued this in the meatspace that a CA judge would rule suchmoon a "public figure" or a "limited purpose public figure?"  Cheesy Naturally, I don't suspect suchmoon will pursue this since the indications are that Thule is across the pond and it would probably require more resources than the case is worth. In any event, if suchmoon were to bring up a case, it definitely would be stronger than thule's case against Vod.  Roll Eyes
A limited purpose public figure perhaps.

In the terms of the community, of which the trust ratings are in relation to, she is most certainly a public figure.
2330  Economy / Reputation / Re: @suchmoon could you provide info on this on: February 10, 2019, 07:46:36 PM
As most people know, these two peers aren't exactly BFF with suchmoon. Claiming you got your information from an anonymous source is no defense for libel. My red tag will remain in place until I'm convinced this allegation is more likely than not to be true. So far, it isn't.
In order for something to be libel, it needs to be proven false, and cause damages, often via harm to their reputation, but can also be to decreased business income and similar.

The fact a statement can not be proven to be true is not libel, the statement must be proven to be false. Suchmoon admits above she cannot prove the OP to be false:
I could ask admin to access my PMs but that would prove nothing (I could have deleted the alleged messages).

I am also not aware of any business that suchmoon conducts around here on any regular basis, so I cannot say she would win damages, even if she proved the OP to be false.

@Quickseller
How do you expect suchmoon to prove OP to be false when these messages are faked/manipulated, never existed in the first place?
Let's pretend it was your name there, how exactly would you prove them to be false?
If it were my name there, I don't think I would have a case for libel. If it were me, I would deny the message is real (as suchmoon has done) and move on.

.... the pictures would speak to his judgement.

Not at all.

They could be SAID to have been send in a context that was improper, or in similar ways used for blackmail.

By themselves such pics are simple human anatomy.
Well he was married at the time, in fact I believe it was said that some of them show him with a wedding ring on his finger. I think many would probably consider this "improper"
2332  Other / Meta / Re: Alternatives to Permabans for plagarism on: February 10, 2019, 06:55:21 PM
I continue to think giving a fine would be the best option, but if this is rejected by the administration.....

For lower ranking members, perhaps for junior members and below, there will be no change, they will be permabanned for the first instance.

For higher ranking members, the ban functionality can be modified so that for someone caught plagiarizing, a three day temp ban will start will start once they acknowledge they should not plagiarize, and that future instances of plagiarism will result in a permaban.

The above would prevent people from claiming they didn't know they aren't allowed to plagiarize, and will prevent the promise they will never do it again because they would have already broken that promise. It would also prevent established people from being excluded from the community for a single mistake.

I think in the majority of cases, the above is giving more chances than necessary.

I also think anyone who is banned for plagiarism should have their ban message explicitly say this. Perhaps any mod who has the authority to ban for plagiarism should have the ability to give this type of ban. The ban message could also say the ban is unlikely to get overturned if you actually plagiarized. This should cut down on the appeal threads in meta of people claiming to have no idea why they were banned.

Quick question— is it possible that someone is buying up all the ERC 20 coins from the people on your list?

Same question

If you look at the time of the transactions no, How he can buys tokens for 100+ people within few minutes? Is more probable he logs in and logs out alts account and send tokens.
Maybe I am reading the tx history incorrectly, or maybe looking at the wrong eth address, however neither address in the OP (0xfb17eb2cf70ca13a7e4bed5a8479c8725ce08353 and 0xe9602ee7f7a74c03bb751bf54242ce75fc4a3831 have anything close to a hundred transactions within a few minutes. I don't even see anything close to a hundred transactions within an hour.

I do see several "bursts" of transactions of one transaction every 5-10 minutes over 4-5 transactions, but this would be well within the range of reasonableness for someone buying up ERC20 tokens (perhaps at a discount).

You have acknowledged your dox, and have posted your dox within your posting history, and as such (to the extent information is found within your posting history), posting your dox is allowed, even with the new rules. If you are reporting posts with this information, you either do not understand the rules, do not care about the rules, or are trying to cause problems for people that do not like you.
[...]
Better yet, report it yourself and stop looking for excuses to dox me. I do not consent to any of my personal information to be posted publicly regardless of what you're saying. You do not decide that. IS THAT CLEAR?
[...]
People are allowed to post their own public information in their posts, and as such, reporting those posts would not be appropriate.

I don't need your consent to repeat information contained in your posts, we aren't having sex (gross, I got the shivers even thinking about that), I am repeating information I see in your post history.

Perhaps you should stop making people so mad at you they decide to post things that "triggers" you, such as your name. I have not seen you stop anyone from scamming someone, so there isn't anyone mad at you because you stopped them from having money they weren't due anyway.

Why interrupt your opponent when they are making an error?
This is never going to be put for a vote, as it is dead on arrival in the House. Pelosi has publicly said what amounts to that it will not be put to a vote, and she is smart enough to not put it to a vote based on the amount of ridicule it is receiving alone.

Trump is wanting to give this as much attention it can get to highlight the extremism on the left.

It is effectively trying to outlaw the use of Airplanes (no fossil fuels after 10 years). .....

Wait...

What would happen to all my frequent flyer miles?
They would get redistributed to those with less. The miles would not be good for anything though.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos posted a medium blog post alleging that Trump supporter's National Enquirer attempted to extort him with the threat of publishing "dick pics" .....

Does anyone care about Bezos Dic Pics? Why is this a story?
Bezos dick pics would be news worthy because he is the richest man in america and he runs Amazon (among other companies). He is a public figure, and the pictures would speak to his judgement.

The President has the NI in his back pocket.
I am not sure if you are a troll account or not....

If you believe Trump has the national intelligence in his back pocket, I would refer you to https://twitter.com/JohnBrennan and "A Higher Loyalty" by James Comey.
2338  Other / Meta / Re: Current stance towards automatic service bumping bots? on: February 10, 2019, 08:40:33 AM
This would be the same as bumping 100-1000x per day, which is disallowed. It would also be the same as having a bot that bumps with the same frequency, making having the multiple bots pointless.

For example, a user creates several alternative accounts. For each account, a bot is configured that bumps its theme. This will not be a violation of forum rules, but it will interfere with other users.

Therefore, I think that this is not the best idea.

It would be a violation. A thread with 100 alt accounts talking to eachother is going to get locked, and the accounts banned.

FYI - Your scenario would make more sense if a single bot were to carry out this task.

2340  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bezos allegedly extorted w/Dick pics by Nat'l enquirer on: February 10, 2019, 03:05:04 AM
This comes amid the National Enquirer exposing Bezos having an affair as a married man, publishing text messages between Bezos and his mistress, and Bezos attempting to investigate how these text messages leaked.

There are rumors a "government entity" leaked the texts to the National Enquirer. If so, and Trump ordered this to score political points and shame Bezos, it's hard to see how he wouldn't get impeached. You think he'll survive that?
If there is evidence of this, articles of impeachment will probably get filed, and the democratic congress would probably impeach if the articles said he was driving 1 MPH over the speed limit, even though Trump doesn't drive. I would suspect Trump would release information regarding his campaign being spied on by the Obama administration not long after evidence that he ordered the CIA to hack Bezos' phone, which will probably mean he survives (I wouldn't necessarily continue to support him, but that is my prediction).

The "rumors" are actually Bezos' head of security (who is investigating the hacking) saying he believes this may have happened. I would note The Washington Post (wholly owned by Bezos) has gotten many stories wrong about Trump, and have been so wrong that months after the fact, I suspect they were made up to make him look bad. WaPo is so anti-trump that one of their editorial writers blamed Trump on one of the hurricanes last year. It has been claimed Bezos lets WaPo have editorial independence, but I don't believe it.

IIRC, the head of security for Bezos previously though the brother of Bezos' mistress was the one who leaked the texts (he denied it), and has not proffered anyone else who might be responsible; in essence he said "it is either her older brother, or Big Brother"
This whole situation makes a good case for encryption though, so I love it.
This really depends on the details of how the texts were stolen/the phone was hacked. If the actual phone was hacked, encryption would not do anything because the hacker could obtain the decryption key when it is in the phone's RAM, which would be as frequent as the phone reads/accesses text messages. If the texts were intercepted between the two phones (eg via cell towers), then maybe encryption would have protected him, although I understand iMessage uses encryption the government was unable to break as of 2015. I am not sure if Bezos and his mistress were using iMessage or not.
