1581  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Selfscratchers: how every DT1 user changes their own trust on: May 16, 2019, 08:08:27 PM
I don’t think a persons numerical trust score is a very good indicator of ones trustworthiness.

There are a number of people in your list who haven’t been trusted with more than a few hundred dollars of others’ money, if anything at all. I also believe some people haven’t even traded at all around here. Both with many positive ratings.

Re: the concerns in the OP. If you trade or interact with a person, you have the opportunity to gauge their integrity, and ability to act fairly, both of which should be considered when deciding to add someone to your trust list. IMO, having a large number might be a reason to look into the DT1 member further, but is not necessarily automatically a problem.

I also think there are other issues of groups of people all adding a similar group of people to their trust lists, when they are affiliated with each other.
1582  Other / Meta / Re: Custom trust list is a meme on: May 16, 2019, 06:36:26 PM
I don’t think this is a good solution. It will have many of the same pitfalls as the current trust system has.

All of the addresses in question belongs to coin payment. The transactions are internal wallet movements.

And when the internal motion is the write-off of BTC from the wallet balance?

Address:   36mGjdfFuBrWVR7QDPfPwWSmJGpQcmkUiT

Final Balance    0.12 BTC

0.015BTC x 10 = 0.15 BTC
0.015BTC x 2 = 0.03 BTC
Final Balance    0.12 BTC

The private keys are controlled entirely by coin payment. I have no idea what their strategy is in regards to how they structure their transactions. They move money from their deposit addresses without the input from customers.

None of the transactions have anything to do with either person.
1584  Other / Archival / Re: Coolcryptovator abusing with alts on: May 16, 2019, 06:04:12 PM
The address 39znAZoRfKgtm2fs4fpdGYix655GYhfBus and the other two addresses all belong to CoinPayments.com. I am guessing the other two addresses are deposit addresses.

The above is not proof they are the same person
Thank you.
Does all the deposit goes to one address in coinpayment?
I have no idea how they handle their wallet. I would presume they send a percentage of deposits to that address so to help link their addresses together so they receive less inquiries from governments asking if xx address belongs to them.

It's not even just the address, but the fact that 8 transactions occurred in one day (2019-04-20) for 2 hours.
Coincidences happen of course, but it's too much of a coincidence.

They are customers and have no control over when their deposits are spent.

The address 39znAZoRfKgtm2fs4fpdGYix655GYhfBus and the other two addresses all belong to CoinPayments.com. I am guessing the other two addresses are deposit addresses.
I am using coinpayment as a Segwit address and I post it publicly who want create simply segwit address. Not sure what wallet used by TalkStar.  I am using coinpayment due to easy method.
What exactly is that address? Is it a CoinPayment deposit address to your wallet or something like this? (Where did you get it and why you made several transactions to it?)

That's the key question.

@Coolcryptovator
@TalkStar
All of the addresses in question belongs to coin payment. The transactions are internal wallet movements.

Both have a decent amount of merit, so I would reasonably conclude it is beneficial to have him in the same campaign twice instead of the campaign manager allowing one of his friends take the second spot.

The above is assuming the OP is correct in that they are the same person. I haven’t seen evidence this is true, although I haven’t looked.

I am also curious to know if either of these people have received any type of request for payment.
1588  Economy / Lending / Re: No collateral, interest free 0.02 BTC loan to any Legendary member - experiment on: May 16, 2019, 01:50:37 PM
I'm itching to try this zero interest, no collateral loan good for 14 but I am still wondering whats the catch behind this. I don't think its for trust farming, the negative numbers below his avatar is too high. Do you need a signed message to go with the request for loan to make sure if its the rightful owner of the account?
I think anyone who thinks that someone is trustworthy simply because they have given a bunch of no collateral loans is going to eventually part with their money one way or another.

TF has gained a reputation of being a long con scammer as multiple of his ventures were initially successful but eventually got “hacked” resulting in customer losses. Anyone doing basic research on his history should know this. He has consistently denied stealing customer money, but I have serious doubts about the truth of this; even if he was truthful about not stealing customer money, he is still responsible for the losses.

IMO, the purpose of this is to see if people are willing to scam a scammer and if anyone is willing to do anything about it (leave negative trust).

1590  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mighty DTs - no manipulation LOL | Are you okay theymos? on: May 15, 2019, 06:39:02 PM
Quote from: OP
It would work just find if these manipulative fucked up group would not exist or theymos could do something about them.
The risk is that we see a similar group of users pop up in the future that do the very same thing.

Removing these people from the trust system is necessary but doing that alone will only be a temporary solution.

I suspect some of them have sock puppets and they will probably start being used in similar ways once the people in question are removed.
1591  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mighty DTs - no manipulation LOL | Are you okay theymos? on: May 15, 2019, 06:22:16 PM
Newbie account talking about trust system and this is first topic. Posting style is CH,
I have no idea if the OP is CH or not but the ad hominem attacks are not helping anything.
1592  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mighty DTs - no manipulation LOL | Are you okay theymos? on: May 15, 2019, 06:16:52 PM
I think theymos should go back to cultivating a good (default) trust list.

I don’t think the current experiment is a success.
1593  Other / Meta / Re: Vod is abusing his merit source position to give 50 merit to his supporters on: May 15, 2019, 06:13:26 PM
Vod is giving multiple people 50 merit for very low effort posts (they are on topic and not necessarily wrong) in a thread discussing something that reflects on him poorly. He is giving away merit to people supporting him.

I am referring to this thread. Although he is also giving 50 merit to others who have recently supported him.

His status as a merit source should be revoked and reversing the merit transactions should be considered.

And all the other merit he has given at really appropriate post .... if he gives from time to time 50 merit to not let them expire and that being to an in he's opinion good member that will send them away with good care isn't bad as well....
If it would be to shady, newbie accounts, then the story is different....

But for example if VOD goes on a holiday for two weeks not able to be online, then it wouldn't be bad to send them to a good poster, judgemental member to spend them as he sees fit .....

Better to let merit be used for good then let them be expired, just to sell merit, to support shady accounts that are the NO-go's for merit sending....

Don't make noise where no noise is needed. He isn't made a source cause he has bad judgement!

Presumably, Vod is purposefully giving merit inappropriately in an effort to get fired as a merit source
No shit sherlock.
1594  Other / Meta / Re: Division of Powers on: May 15, 2019, 06:11:27 PM
Cryptios has the same access as patrollers, not moderators.

I believe patrollers have the ability to nuke newbie accounts. The ability to nuke newbie accounts is apparently limited, presumably to those who have less than 15 activity but I’m not sure what the exact criteria is for a moderator/patroller to have the authority to nuke a newbie is. I suspect this is to prevent someone who never received merit after being here for a long time from getting nuked, the criteria of doing so is fairly low.

All actions are done “under the right circumstances”.

Admins can also see PMs and unlock accounts (they will probably rarely personally do this because they have hired help for this).

Both admins and global moderators can receive PM reports, that is if you are reporting a specific PM.
1595  Other / Meta / Re: The current permaban situation is ridiculous on: May 15, 2019, 04:50:45 PM

If you are aware of anyone who just “walks away” and you think they should be allowed to return, you should encourage them to appeal their ban with reasons to why returning would benefit the forum.

I really did not want to go down this road, so I will leave it at this:
They were banned for plagiarism for several things for several years, from many places. The issue is that it was *their* work. Proving that would reveal:

1) Their real name.
2) Their real job.
3) 90% of their home address, 99.9999% of their work address.
4) Where they went to school.

So, he walks away.

His choice. Not going to get into it.

-Dave

I don’t understand how or why they would need to disclose that information. The administration wants to know what benefits to the forum there would be if the person is able to continue posting on the forum. In general, this would be shown by pointing to previous posts the person has made and how they are beneficial.

As hilarious said, you can also appeal privately via the email address on the ban message.
1596  Economy / Reputation / Re: REEE: What's wrong with Vod, and Hhampuz on: May 15, 2019, 04:24:31 PM
Anyone else notice the new way these DT1 members are shutting down conversation that doesn't benefit their gang? Simply call the other person a liar or a hypocrite.
The average user just reads this and automatically believes it to be true because the people they look up to are the ones saying it.
But they want forgiveness for their friends.
There is a term for this.

1597  Other / Meta / Re: The current permaban situation is ridiculous on: May 15, 2019, 04:17:04 PM
I really did not want to get into this, but I do think the situation as of now is getting out of hand.
We have bots posting tons of garbage getting banned, BUT good / legit users getting a smackdown on something they did years ago. And some good users are NOT COMING BACK.

Users can appeal. If we feel that they're a net positive and it was for something that happened years ago then a sig ban will likely be issued. Several have already been done today and many more will likely come.

The problem is that they some are not appealing. I know 1 user IRL that just walked away.
Now there were other factors involved, but this was the final push.
*That* is part of the issue. He might be back, might not. You can now find him spending a lot of time on an ieee board.

-Dave

Plagiarism is a very serious problem here that causes a lot of damage. If you are caught doing this, I think it is appropriate to force people to make an argument as to what you are going to contribute to let the person come back.

If someone “walks away” after getting caught, IMO, they don’t care a lot about being able to stay. A long term signature ban is appropriate for these people and I don’t think anyone is going to make a successful argument against handing out signature bans for this.

If you are aware of anyone who just “walks away” and you think they should be allowed to return, you should encourage them to appeal their ban with reasons to why returning would benefit the forum.
1598  Economy / Reputation / Re: REEE: What's wrong with Vod, and Hhampuz on: May 15, 2019, 03:45:00 PM
Vod has gotten a pass a large number of times and by the looks of it he is going to end up getting another pass and once again will not be held accountable.
1599  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bill Gator and OG not telling the whole truth. on: May 15, 2019, 02:13:54 PM
Forgiveness does not mean free of consequence.
I'm not advocating to ban Vod, or even remove Vod from DT - I thought a single temporary DT1 feedback indicating that he had a lapse of judgement that was significantly malicious was appropriate.
The only reason I even have anything to say about the situation anymore, is because I'm sitting here with the biggest bullshit negative feedback from somebody you are all defending as a hero.
I see no reason why any rating should only be “temporary”, especially a few weeks temporary. Two weeks of having a negative rating is basically a non-punishment and realistically is the result of you being excluded from DT.
1600  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Colorado school Shooting! on: May 15, 2019, 05:15:22 AM
I am sure some number of teachers already have the requisite training to be able to safely carry a gun in a school, and there are probably more teachers who are generally interested in this training but have not gotten around to obtaining said skills.

Also, every teacher doesn't need to have a gun, teachers only need to have the option to carry a gun in the school. The goal is not necessarily for the teacher to win a gunfight with an attempted mass shooter, the goal is to deter the mass shooter from going to the school in the first place.

I'm not sure about that. Assuming that the option was viable, formal military and police training would still probably require a few more pieces to be legal. In many jurisdictions, police officers are required to have liability insurance policies to cover them from being sued into oblivion when they make a mistake that their department wont cover. I think it would probably be a hard sell to get a policy without extensive ongoing training. I can't imagine teachers wouldn't be required to have one if they were allowed to carry guns.
I have not heard of that. One solution would be to give teachers a safe harbor if they have certain credentials and take certain precautions, so to prevent them from getting sued frivolously.

Otherwise, if additional training is unavoidable, schools will need to find the funding. I don't know where this money will come from, and the answer is probably different from district to district -- some can probably come from the federal government (and state governments) via grants. At the end of the day, difficult choices will need to be made. In most cases, either taxes will need to be raised, or other programs will need to have their budgets cut to pay for this training.
