yaknow if ~800 shares makes gambit small time, then i must be a dust bunny or something with my 5 shares. (i just HAD to buy games from steam when we were still <$8 and use up my BTC)

it's like various people said - this was people cashing out and hopingot buy back in lower. apparently half the peak is low enough that people are buying back in now...

here's hoping that was the bottom we just passed.

i'm agreeign with DeaDterra on this one. the "crash" happenedless then two days ago. things are far from stabilized. we could easily see a drastic change in the coming week, in either direction. i couldn't even begin to reasonably speculate on where the price will be in 7 days, let alone further out. before we go persuing any drastic changes, lets see how the IPO and the BTC price actually shake out the next few days.

It takes forever to get started and I bet most people who are new to Bitcoin pick it up, get tired of it and move on.
Why hasn't the development team created a thin client yet?
I think you mistake the intent of the reference implementation and the nature of bootstrapping an entire social movement. The standard client is needed to run the network and is not needed by casual users to use Bitcoin. Right now, its better to attract the competent who can help build the network infrastructure and services needed to transform Bitcoin into something useful, simple and safe for all users. yea, this, very much. right now is like the 80'd and early 90's of the internet. building the network and systems so that the really cool, user friendly and poetentiall world changing stuff can more easily be accomplished later. laying a foundation, as it were. as such, the more technically inclined the user base the better, for the time being. at the least, i figure we'd want a "bitcoin 1.0" satoshi reference client before REALLY going into user friendly (read: AOL back in the 90's) territory.

i actually have the equipment to do this on hand. i personally prefer using brass to copper - but really i could use any electrically conductive metal. i use galvanic etching (salt water and electricity instead of acid) and then after removing the ink resist a blast of black spary paint really makes the design pop. a simple spray of clear varnish is excellent protection. if there's enough interest i'd be more then happy to offer a service. i feel stupid for not thinking of this before, actually. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) here's an example of the etching: this is about the size of half a sheet of regular (8.5x11 or A4) paper. all the "blemishes" you see are there for intentional artistic effect. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv21%2FArklan%2Fprojects%2Fsmaugetch.jpg&t=663&c=SN7i2avgV62qQQ)

the only thing i see that they could do is make exchaning to fiat difficult (potentially very) but, even then - not every country would do it, so they exchanges could operate there. say BTC to japanese yen THEN to euro/USD or whatnot.

unless like some of us poor blokes you only HAVE bitcoin. (and 2btc at that...) then up is win! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

times like these that makes me wish there was a reliable, audited, secure exchange to pt gox and such to shame. would develop it myself if i had the technical skills.

yea. mind you this is my main PC - the other card is an nvidia i use for gaming and whatnot. when i built this guy three years ago or so i hadn't heard of bitcoin, so mobo slots weren't a primary concern. i'm pretty much a sideline watcher as a result. until i can get some fpga/asic. kinda waiting to see how that shakes out while i save the money i'd need. (the job i start tomorrow ought to give a kick in the pants to the savings!)
