2341  Other / Meta / Re: Meta posting - summa cum Lauda (sic) on: January 17, 2019, 10:58:58 AM
Yeah! I think we should set a new trend: Regardless of what the subject of your thread is, include the word Lauda in the title somehow.  Tongue
2342  Other / Meta / Re: Massive abuse in the Russian section. on: January 17, 2019, 10:53:39 AM
Each user can write anything-see who trusts this user and many things will become clear to you!
You can write whatever you want, but be ready to face consequences. That thread is full of collusion, and given that we can see everyone's trust list it is clear that the users have agreed to it.

He's willing to overthrow several thousand ratings on scammers in order to get "strength". If that isn't a sign of malice and collusion, I don't know what is.

~
I always found the Russian section a bit irritating for me. I even had a topic against one of the moderator long ago. What I learnt was that they basically favor each others to take advantages of anything. I will find the topic and post it here.
A similar thing happened with the Turkish section. I strongly believe that they keep each other's abuse hidden/protect each other because of it.
2343  Other / Meta / Re: Massive abuse in the Russian section. on: January 17, 2019, 10:47:35 AM
I quite literally predicted this would happen:
A bored Newbie with a hacked Legendary account could pull this off. Then exclude all other DT1 accounts, and the hostile takeover of the trust network is complete (until manual intervention).

I can imagine other communities will make their own DT1 "clique": for example a group of Russians, a group of Indonesians and a group of bounty hunters. As long as they stay out of each other's hair, they can co-exist. The moment they touch, it feels like a black hole collision competing for exclusions.
The old DT-system felt like it meant something, the new system changes every few hours.

A notable suggestion by the user peloso (post #47):

He's willing to overthrow several thousand ratings on scammers in order to get "strength". If that isn't a sign of malice and collusion, I don't know what is. Naturally, he's also a (caught) merit abuser. So far I have only tagged him, but it is likely that more users deserve it.

This is the topic where there is an exchange of views on the new trust system.

This is analogous to the topic DefaultTrust changes, but only in Russian
If you believe that publicly colluding is analgous to the DT changes announcement thread, then you should stay far away from DT.

I'm most disappointed that xandry read the thread (and naturally understood it), and kept quiet about it.
2344  Other / Meta / Re: grin is now accepted for forum payments on: January 17, 2019, 10:22:44 AM
I started to look at Grin and Beam as alternative payment methods for domain name sales.
Here's a thought: Use LN for domain sales.

I'm also looking at Dash.
Please no. Dash is a shitcoin.

I don't understand...

60 Grins created every minute forever...

Isn't it the very definition of perpetual inflation? Oo
It's broken by design, but has excellent tech.
2345  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos I believe there is an issue with your trust algo. on: January 17, 2019, 10:07:16 AM
If I am not wrong then someone no need vote from DT1 or DT2 to become DT1.
That is correct.
2346  Economy / Reputation / [The Cult of Lauda] A concerned neighbourhood cat's trust list on: January 17, 2019, 09:54:06 AM
As I've received too many inquiries so far, and as I'm afraid that I might lose it due to some weird limits (e.g. ignore list limit) or glitches I'm gonna keep a backup from The Cult.

It is of vital importance that included members respond to inquiries for trust-related matters. Inactive members, despite significant past contributions, will likely be swiftly removed.

2347  Economy / Reputation / Re: Russian moderator Xal0lex uses alt profile to insult forum members on: January 17, 2019, 09:51:08 AM
Freedom of speech
I remember theymos saying he'd rather have someone create an alt account if he's afraid to share his opinion for whatever reason, than not posting it at all. This was quite a while ago, so I can't easily find back the quote.
Correct. However, if you are caught and you lie about it then it is untrustworthy. I have excluded the moderator from my trust list as theymos is the only one who could confirm this with 100% certainity for now.
2348  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos I believe there is an issue with your trust algo. on: January 17, 2019, 09:24:01 AM
This user - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=679341 is showing on the below list of DT

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;dtview

as you can see here - there are 0 DT-1 members trusting this user.

-snip-

If this is the correct action of the current system, then all it will take is a single nefarious user with 250 merits to build up a network of enough votes to include someone on DT-1 I see this as a serious hole in the system (correct me if I am wrong)
As per the current implementation of the DT1 system, you don't need any inclusions from actual DT1 members to get on that list.
2349  Other / Meta / Re: grin is now accepted for forum payments on: January 17, 2019, 06:18:35 AM
Grin has a retarded inflation rate. How do you think its price will remain sustainable?

While I am fond of Mimblewimble, whoever decided the coin specification decided to create a serious flaw.

Monero
Mimblewimble has privacy features, but it also has the first really impressive, true scaling solution in crypto. Privacy-wise, Monero is probably better overall, but its scaling is abysmal, and neither coin can be treated as an impenetrable black box.
This. Monero will end up a dead coin sooner because of all the bloat it implemented.
2350  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: January 17, 2019, 06:09:06 AM
So you believe I am Sylon? Quite funny.
Please no or this will not end well. Undecided

Delete your positive feedback which is really not necessary. There is only few are deserve it.
Exactly. People need to be conservative or we will have even more "scammed by light/dark green trusted users" threads.
2351  Economy / Reputation / Re: TMAN's thread for bitching about my tags. on: January 16, 2019, 10:30:42 PM
Am I allowed to use this thread to request information (bitch) about your exclusion of me from your trust list?
Maybe it has something to do with your trust list (this has caused exclusions and/or sent ratings). Have you reviewed it recently?
2352  Economy / Reputation / Re: Russian moderator Xal0lex uses alt profile to insult forum members on: January 16, 2019, 09:08:09 PM
Xal0lex please clarify whether this is true or not.
I have never insulted anyone in this forum. Phetis is not my alt. I don't need alts to express my opinion. Moreover, I never answer insults in my direction. And they are enough. This user has a biased attitude towards me. We had some disagreements with him. All this is related to the topic of worldcore and the ban of the user Marina Uni for plagiarism, in due time.

The forum has hundreds of thousands of users. The dates of the last activity on the forum can be approximately the same for many users.
How can infer from the last activity that the accounts are alts?

Is this alts too?
Did you really just delete the signed message to hide the connection? If you in fact did, that is very shady.
2353  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal RegulusHr on: January 16, 2019, 08:50:36 PM
I thought that anyone that creates account on this forum had right to state opinon?
You can state your opinion as many times as you want, it's just that nobody in their right mind is going to give a single quack about it.
2354  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal RegulusHr on: January 16, 2019, 08:28:20 PM
I don't think that RegulusHR deserves red trust for "stealing other peoples work" because that two sentences are hardly work.
I strongly believe that anyone doing this does, and will continue tagging people (where it makes sense; e.g. not new spambots) for it. You can repeat your opinion a hundred times using 100 friends from the local section, it won't matter. People who are almost never involved outside of their respective local sections have no say in what constitutes a proper trust rating as they usually have no knowledge or experience with any of this.

I don't think anything is resolved here.
Good luck with that then.
2355  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal RegulusHr on: January 16, 2019, 08:21:18 PM
I think we should strive to the argued discussion here.
Any question should be solved by arguments in the debate, not by force or attacks.
Everything has been resolved. The user broke the rule several times and has thus faced consequences. Stop wasting time with your "argued discussion". If you want to discuss what kind of consequence plagiarism should have, then go to a  thread discussing that.
2356  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal RegulusHr on: January 16, 2019, 08:11:45 PM
If we should be afraid to freely express our opinion here because someone can attack us, it's sad time for this forum and community.
If nobody is allowed to attack you, then what the hell would this forum even be? Boring. The majority of the content (excluding some technical sections) is someone attacking someone else or something else (e.g. a shitcoin). I've been attacked pretty much every day over the past 3 years; grow a thicker skin or go home.
2357  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal RegulusHr on: January 16, 2019, 08:05:40 PM
I would like to ask for a more polite discussion here.
I hope I don't ask to much.   Cheesy
I can call in cryptohunter and TMAN if you are fond of polite discussion.
2358  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal RegulusHr on: January 16, 2019, 07:47:01 PM
but I already noticed some old legendary members obsessed more with punishing people
Yeah, yeah. We are all evil psychopaths; it's our fault and definitely not the fault of the people breaking the rules and/or acting untrustworthy. I've heard this countless times already; be original for once.

We should respect equally all users on this forum, and their opinions.
No. Respect is earned; you can keep that self-entitled bullshit to the local section. Don't even get me started on the we should respect all opinions.

In my opinion, much better solution will be temporary ban, maybe 30-90 days for a first mistake and permaban if plagiarism happen again.
Sure. Strip him of his signature, his merit source status and revoke bans on all non heavy cases of plagiarism. I wish the staff the best with this proposal. Roll Eyes
2359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.17.1 Released on: January 16, 2019, 07:44:22 PM
you certainly can run Bitcoin Core on a Raspberry Pi, you should be aware that the initial download and verification of the entire Bitcoin blockchain will take a lot of time (literally weeks on a slow computer like a Raspi). You also need a harddrive or flash storage

Another thing you can do is make smart use of the datadir and blocksdir parameters

  • Set datadir to a folder on a fast SSD (but not on the SD card)
  • Set blocksdir to a folder on a normal HDD
This will not only speed up syncing the blockchain, but also save the SD card from an early death (it actually speeds up sync on a regular PC too). And yes, definitely don't try to use your RasPi to sync the blockchain from zero, use a PC
Question i know what the datadir does, but what does the blocksdir do?
Main directory = datadir. Subdirectory containing blocks = blocksdir. The blocks directory uses up probably 96-97% of the required storage (minus the chainstate; the rest is trivial) to run Bitcoin Core. The blocksdir option allows you to change its location (e.g. to a HDD as is mentioned by achow).
2360  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: January 16, 2019, 07:01:06 PM
I was on the DT2 list for a very short time. Just started to paint the farmers account - immediately disappeared from the list (probably due to the fact that dropped TheFuzzStone)  Cry
Added you in under me man, you should be on DT
It feels like DT has much more inflation that Bitcoin at the moment. Take Alex_Sr's Sent feedback for example: he started sending green trust the moment he was on put on DT. Look at his feedback on DabLjat:
Included by Lafu. I have no idea why.

No need, @Alex I have had to drop you, even though you have been active with the tagging - all those positive trusts with no references are not cool.
I can pick up the slack; no need really.
