.....
Sometimes these signings look unsuspecting in September but come the season it ends up being the piece they needed all along.  Sixers aren't too far off.
I agree. I actually thought of Howard's signing with the Lakers when they won the league as a reference. They're not the what we call as "impact players" but their contributions can still turn the tide on important or crucial games.

100%.  Usually a team with solid depth and bench play are the teams that make noise.  Long season, lots of injuries, etc.  Starting 5s are great but most likely every team will go through a shuffle during the year and the ones making these types of moves are best situated.  And vets are nice to have so the youngins stay in line during the year.

I’m not sure I like the Hornets signing Montrez Harrell. I feel like he got his bag when he left the Clippers and hasn’t been the same since. I don’t suspect any team that signs him is going to get their money’s worth. I don’t think he’s a good pairing with their young run and gun squad either. I guess we’ll see how it goes, but I feel like it won’t go well.
Signing with the Hornets or the Sixers? It's the latter that I'm reading.

It's $5.2 Million for two years with a player option for a 28-year-old center. I don't think that's a bad deal for any team since he can still be useful in player rotations. The Sixers probably thinks he could give Embiid more minutes to rest while he's on the floor. Maybe they're hoping a double-double or close to it for 20 minutes?
It was in the Sixers where he signed and maybe there is a bit of mistake with that post.
https://www.nba.com/news/montrezl-harrell-signs-philadelphia-sixers

After giving Drummond to the Nets in the Harden-Simmons trade, the Sixers really lacked a big at that time and it was Embiid who was their reliable big. Now they are starting to acquire bigs like DeAndre Jordan and now they also got Harrell who isn't tall for a big TBH but a good defender and a former 6th man of the year when he was in Clippers. His stint with the Lakers was the reason why his efficiency went down drastically but I think he can still contribute more to the team knowing how he played when he was in the Clippers. It's a good sign to the Sixers as Embiid will play less minutes.

I think this is a solid signing for the sixers.  Will give them an extra added toughness down low, and a real good veteran at a good price.  Sometimes these signings look unsuspecting in September but come the season it ends up being the piece they needed all along.  Sixers aren't too far off.

Of course, any team that he can go he will add toughness inside, but then again, he is undersized for a center so not sure if he will also be a good fit.

But if the price is good then why not? Specially if Joel gets injured early, as least they have someone to cover him in that position even if he is not that tall to bang with the true centers in the league.

He doesn't need to play center, embid will play the 5 for 35 minutes a game.  He might spell him there for a couple of minutes but montrell can play some tough pf minutes depending on the team and matchup. Every team needs little toughness and he brings it.  Coue rebounds, some say vet plays, couple offensive rebounds and then ride the bench the rest of the game.  That's what you need out of a guy making 2-3mil on the team.

Problem is that mma doesn't exactly crossover to boxing.  Not only is Silva too old boxing wasn't his sport to begin with.  Not sure what people are exactly expecting out of him.  Should be another great boxing match.  Roll Eyes
Anderson has already had like 3/4 bouts, and beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, which I do recall he was a heavy underdog in the fight. Also beat Tito Ortiz, and both of these were like a year or so ago. So, arguably he has the same experience that Jake Paul has, but in additional also has MMA experience. So, this isn't a boxer vs a MMA guy, at least not completely. Silva made his bread, and butter in MMA, but he's had a decent boxing career, albeit only a short one.

Jake Paul technically is fighting someone who has fought in boxing before, whereas before they hadn't.

People this whole thing where people think a 47 year old Silva who boxed 3 times is a good fight to watch is insane.  Mma and boxing are 2 wildly different sports even though sometimes they look the same.  For a natural boxing fan watching this crap it's cringy when ypu watch these guys try to box "professionally".  It's fun for a round like a car accident ypu can't look away but to think it's a solid match to watch is....  Roll Eyes

Where are you finding markets to short luna lol.  Going on margin either way on these types of coins almost always end up with you getting margin called.  I guess to each their own but dam you got stones.

Haha - using KuCoin. Take a listen to my channel. I'm using very small positions (0.5% - 1% of my account and adding margin as appropriate.) I've done this for years and have a good system down Smiley Thanks for the comment!

Shorting and lomging volatile coins don't have any system to it.  It's purely speculative and irresponsible to get people to join you.  It's a complete gamble and yeah you might make some good coin from time to time, but there is no system to it.  Greed drives these markets that's it.

Terra Luna Classic and Voyager are two projects nobody expects to attract a lot of investors anymore. Yet they're going parabolic ? Right at the bottom of one of the worst bear markets crypto's ever had ??
This is madness.

Pump groups and greed.  No need to follow the crowd you will eventually get taken by them and lose your entire stack.  If complete garbage coins are going up and you think it's crazy, you are probably right.  Steer clear of these "opportunities" and ypu should end up fine.
2346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: September 07, 2022, 10:15:32 PM

It will be fun to see Jake fall down to the ground and stop looking down at the UFC fighters but he actually has the chance to also KO Silva. Silva is not very mobile because of his leg injury, seems very delicate for him to do some side steps that might crack again. When you get old, your bones get brittle and brittle. Not much difference in their reach so Jake could also throw jabs from a distance. It's all just timing.

Some unfortunate news for the Chicago Bulls.

“Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is doubtful for the beginning of the 2022-23 season due to lingering knee pain, according to ESPN's Jamal Collier and Ramona Shelburne. Ball suffered a torn meniscus last season that knocked him out for the year in January. While the Bulls believe that his knee is structurally sound, he continued to deal with pain as he ramped up his basketball activities during offseason rehab. Ball will return to Chicago next week for further testing. The Bulls begin training camp at the end of the month”.
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lonzo-ball-doubtful-for-start-of-season-as-knee-pain-persists-following-meniscus-surgery-per-report/

I think this is going to be a bigger injury even though a lot of people are thinking otherwise. As far as I know, he still cannot put pressure on his leg. So, I think it is going to be really hard for him to start playing quickly.

Don’t get me wrong.  I really want to see him play very quickly. But I just don’t think that his leg is in a condition to take that pressure. He had suffered an Injury previously as well. It will be really sad if he also suffers injury this season as well. As far as I am hearing, things don’t look good.

Yeah they need him on the court as quick as possible.  Missing your starting point guard is killer for team flow.  Knicks have been without a true point guard for a decade and look where it led them.  Every good team has a good point guard.  Even teams with all world superstars needs someone to run the show. Bulls got a good squad they are a top 5 team if healthy.

Just saw this news. I am so sick and tired of this kid and his brother fighting these old dudes who aren’t even boxers. I mean Anderson Silva is 47 years old. I guess if I could fight someone who played a different sport, is much older and past their prime yet still make millions of dollars I’d do it to. I just want to see these dudes actually fight a legitimate boxer their own age.

Regardless I’ll be tuning in hoping for a Silva KO.

People need to stop watching these fights then they will magically go away as there won't be any money in it.  I watched the first couple I will admit but they were boring at best.  How much money these dudes making off the fight is that public?

Celtics lost some firepower for next season as Gallinari has been diagnosed a torn ACL on his left knee. That's a nasty injury and he's likely to miss the entire season. He's not on superstar level but decent role player that can fill up the rotation which the Celtics badly needs.

I agree that it was very unfortunate that Danilo hasn't even play for the Celtics and he got injured in FIBA. And that is why the name of Carmelo Anthony surfaces as potential replacement for him in Celtics. But I don't see any similarities, if there will be Anthony might be worst defender than Gallinari. But let's see, Carmelo can still play and give good numbers per night. Let's see what the Celtics will do to find at least a good replacement for Danilo and if that will be Anthony at least for this year in green uniform.

Yeah I actually thought getting galinari would be perfect for this team.  Sometime to help with spacing and for those drive and kicks so they can't completely crash in on theor drives.  Always liked Danilo ever since he was a knick.  Funny how people are talking about carmelo possibly replacing his minutes since long ago he was trade to Denver for carmelo.  Circle of the NBA

If this fight ever happens it's obvious Jake Paul (6-0) will win this match. It's not about their history background, the fighting skills or the age differences, it's all about the money. I don't know why a living legend Anderson Silva(Boxing Record: 3-1) himself would lower his standard to fight a youtuber with a fixed match.

You already said it: money. This is the main motivation why a lot of legendary MMA fighters agreed to fight Jake on boxing even though they know that they will get their asses beat due to the terms of the fight. After the ass-whooping and throwing their experience and their selves in shame, they will get a fat pay check, which usually happens since the viewership of such events are through the roof. Hopefully for Silva he hands Jake some proper spanking, but I doubt that will happen.

That's just it.  These boxing matches sometimes makes them more than they earned in their entire careers in mma. It's terrible watching these fights as a true boxing fan.  It's like watching minor league baseball.  It's still baseball but it's a bit meh in terms of skill.

The only good thing is it's an expiring contract.  My guess is the Lakers start with him and deal him at the deadline to someone looking to shed players with long term contracts.  Probably their best bet.

I don't know, why not just wait? I know that they can't win anything this year with this roster, but just roll it like this and lose, and then next year you are going to have just a HUGE salary space and you could get another star? Thats going to be the key factor for them, hell they could even get like some high contract just like westbrook, a bad player, like some john wall situation and get a ton of picks as well. This won't help them today, but it will help them after Lebron leaves or retires. They will have some picks back and be bad for a few years and then have a great run of picks to build a good team.

The whole point of why not just wait is because they can't.  Theor lebron window is closing.  Ypu can waist this year so if they can get back 2 serviceable players from a non contender at the deadline they might want to shed theor contracts and will take on russ to make it work.  They need a competitive team this year.

No it can't even come close.  You do realize what market cap is and if shib was $.10 then it would amount to a market larger than the entire world's fiat money put together lol.  See how rediculous that sounds now?
2354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Infographics] Does Football Betting Pay Off? on: September 05, 2022, 08:11:52 PM
It's the same question for any sports bet or even casino games.  For the most part no it's not worth it because the odds are always stacked against the bettor.  The part where it makes sense is smaller amounts in the form of entertainment.  By betting on games ypu watch more intently and could makes games otherwise you wouldn't watch now more interesting.
2355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 05, 2022, 07:00:59 PM
It is hard to trade westbrook because of his humungus contract. I doubt any team will take him without additional picks or good trade package. Lakers has no picks to offer or anyone to package with Westbrook. I do not know if they can buy out his contract so they can replace him with someone better. I do not know if that is viable. If it is, I think that is a better course if Westbrook's performance does not improve or he cannot have chemistry with his other co-superstars.
It will certainly be a waste of money but if there's any solution to this dilemma then that might be it. $47M. I am sure Westbrook will be happy about it.
Then he could just look for a team that would accept him even with a cut to his average price.

If it won't come to that ending, all eyes will be on him if he will have a better season or will it just be the same as last year. Lakers movement of players seems to be exhausted because of their expensive players. The other option that I see is just pay the luxury tax.  Grin

I really don't think any team should get this prayer right now for this much money. This would be a waste of huge amounts of money for them. He is not in a good form right now and he is certainly not worth this much money. Lakers are going to have some big problems trying to trade this player. 47 million dollars is going to be wasted if anyone tries to get this player. His current form does not suggest he is worth 47 million dollars.

The only good thing is it's an expiring contract.  My guess is the Lakers start with him and deal him at the deadline to someone looking to shed players with long term contracts.  Probably their best bet.

And now we have 0-3, despite that we were close from having 3-0. Lithuania lost after 2 Overtimes aagainst Germany. Again, we were close, but we simply don't have killers instinct. We didn't managed to stop Wagner who scored 32 points. In the end Schroder and Lo also added and these 3 players scored 78 of 109 Germany points.
Bosnia upset against Slovenia made things complicated in group B and Lithuania now don't have everything in their hands. Now we must beat Bosnia and wait that they will lose against France.
Belgium made biggest surprise of tournament by beating World Cup champion Spain. Belgium were leading most part of game, though in th quarter it looked that Spain already took initiative. But few Belgium 3-pointers closed the game.
It was a tough game for Bosnia and Herzegovina and yet they did the impossible by defeating the defending champions Slovenia. I was surprised at what their coach did using different strategies that would best fit the team and have Slovenia be on a rough night. Doncic is 0/8 at outside shots and his penetration moves are not working much.
It's a big achievement for them so B&H celebrated with their fans at the end of the game.  Smiley
IIRC, that was @8.40 when you bet for them in the money line or +10 for @2.00 in the second half.

Trying to watch some of this, I want to see doncic play international ball.  Any team to keep him at 0/8 shooting is nothing short of amazing.  Haven't watched too much lately but how is the defense of teams in comparison of nba play?

Glad it's 10 teams this year, should make for more fun!

Yeah the injuries should be spread around instead of all on my team this year! LMAO!

Just finished draft on another 12 man league and I gotta say pick 2 Sucked, pick one you get LT with 2 you got 6 guys pretty even and then wait 20 picks to go again.

Haven't had the time yet to do a AAR like southpark did but gonna try in the next few days.

Can't wait till Thursday!

12 team is tricky.  Depth on your team is super hard to get.  Where ever you are weak you need to watch that waiver it's crucial in a 12 team league.  No way to be strong in all positions.  Gets more challeging/fun as the amount of teams increase.  Imagine a 14 team league lol.
2358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 04, 2022, 12:20:34 AM
Jazz after losing Gobert, Mitchell and possibly the rest of the remaining good players is a team with very low total salary. I am no expert on the present NBA agreement but there is a minimum amount to spend for a season. The Jazz does have the money to pay Westbrook without the extra luxury taxes. But in order for Utah to waste millions of dollars they will be asking future draft picks. It is up for the Lakers to gamble in order to provide LBJ the players he needed.

To be honest, I doubt the Jazz would have any interest in Westbrook, given the Jazz management's desire to collect future draft picks to rebuild the team. Moreover, Westbrook should earn $47 mln for the coming season, and I don't think any team would want to waste so much money at a time when there are plenty of other good players out there for less money.

That's the point the Lakers would have to give up future draft picks for someone to take his salary on.  Russ comes with draft picks because everyone knows the Lakers want to dump his salary.  And for a team with a player with a long contract it makes sense for them to package for russ since his is expiring.  There are many reason people will take on russ at this point.
2359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 04, 2022, 12:05:19 AM
I wouldn't put much stock in that yahoo report card business.  I came in third place, but I don't think I had a great draft.  I wanted to focus on Running Backs, but I had to compromise because the ones I wanted were already gone.  Taking Dalvin Cook with my first pick was okay, but I was really hoping Derik Henry would slip to my slot, and South Park snagged Nick Chubb right before my second pick.  I also think I waited too long to pick a Tight End.

I am happy with my QB selections, and I did snag Deboo in the third round.  I was planning on going for another Running Back, but taking Deebo was worth it.  It ended up making my other WR selections take a back seat to getting another decent RB, so my remaining WRs are compromises.  What can you do.

The whole reset screwd me up.  I was in the lobby got booted and it started before my screen refreshed.  My first 2 picks were auto picks  Undecided.  Next we need to make sure all of this is straightened out first with no last minute  mods and different start times.  Not anyone's fault but my own I didn't refresh just kept it on the lobby screen with the little spinny circle.  Good luck this season gents!  Grin

Damn, that sucks dude.  Sorry you had that trouble.  You were actually the one I worried about the most for going after my preferences, and then I thought that your fist pick was rather odd.

Yeah all good.  I would have taken Ekler in the 4th spot.  In a full ppr league I'd be more than happy with Jefferson in the 4 hole and ceedee lamb.  In the second I would have taken Kamara.  Then deebo in the 3rd.  I came in on the 3rd round snake with 2 wr already auto drafted so I had to lean in on running backs hard.  Deebo is going to be an absolute monster this year.  Him and trey Lance are gonna have a field day out in the west this year.

I'm happy with my late round value picks and think I can still compete.  As always a couple waiver wire snags goes a long way.  And injury luck.  Every year half of the first round picks end up getting hurt so it's luck too hoping your guys stay healthy.  Glad it's 10 teams this year, should make for more fun!
2360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Anderson Silva [rumours] on: September 03, 2022, 08:57:06 PM
Honestly all these fights are getting old and tired.  It's a bunch of amateurs fighting and it shows in the fights.  The only reason people watch is because they are popular elsewhere.  Otherwise it's uninspiring watching these people actually box.  Was a cool fad for a minute but it's tired now.
Woodley really wasn't an amateur. Plus, Anderson is literally legendary level when it comes to MMA, and as evidenced above Anderson is a proper striker, and while he was definitely known for his kicks in MMA, he's definitely better than a amateur in terms of striking ability.

I just feel Jake doesn't get the credit, because of how I initially thought of him. So, he's fighting a uphill battle because of his past history, but he has decent striking, and he has some power in those shots. None of the knockouts were staged, and it's hard to knock someone out like he did, especially in boxing. Usually, it takes a lot of punches, like a compounding effect. His knockouts were literally off the cuff, without much damage before hand. That's not something to ignore, that's skill, and he obviously has the right biological structure to generate the power he does.

Like I said, I was also a doubter, and thought it was ridiculous, but this is a young fighter who's looking to make a career, and he's got a better record, against better fighters than most champions had. Despite them being MMA fighters, they were literally champions. Woodley being the most impressive due to him being somewhat known for his power, and chin.

Your joking right?  These are all stunt fights just for money.  They are all fights between him and retired boxers, other sports etc, I mean silva was a legend but he is a retired mma fighter let's be real here.  If Paul stuck his nose into a real boxing ring with real talent in his weight class he'd get peppered. Woodley wasn't a boxer he fought mma and the dude is 40 years old lol. This is all for show...
