2361  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Diversified Group Buy [KNC/BitFury/VMC/HashFast] [Maybe:Cointerra] on: August 23, 2013, 05:00:54 PM
Hi there,

would it be possible to reserve 1 share 5BTC for me?
I just ordered my coins for this through coinbase and coinbase is telling me they will be in my account on Thursday Aug 29, 2013.
I can sent screen-cap of coinbase transaction if needed.

Thanks in advance,

grchris
I don't normally do this, but I just bought some extra BTC the other day, so I will send in 5 BTC on your behalf this evening. Please PM me next week when your receive the BTC from Coinbase and I will give you my BTC address.

Thanks for your interest.
2362  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Diversified Group Buy [KNC/BitFury/VMC/HashFast] [Maybe:Cointerra] on: August 23, 2013, 04:59:52 PM
On page 1:

Quote
Hardware Ordered:
2 Bitfury 400 Gh Kit - (October Delivery) - 164.8742 BTC
1 KNC Miner Jupiter 400Gh - (October Delivery) - 73.1469 BTC
2 VMC Fast Hash One 256 Gh - (October/November Delivery) - 79.03789636 BTC
1 HashFast Baby Jet 400 Gh - (Late October Delivery) - 59.1418 BTC
TOTAL: 376.20079636 BTC for 2112+ Gh

That´s the orders now in. There´s more investments that have not yet been used for orders yet,

So total BTC might be over 500 now.

edit: I counted around 543 BTC in. (from transaction list on page 1)

Yes, I'm at work right now and don't have much time but this seems like a correct assessment. There is about 167 BTC left over in the group account. This will likely go towards:
A. CoinTerra 2 Th unit
B. KNC's discounted December Jupiter (not sure when they're planning on releasing price for this)
C. More HashFast Baby Jets

I am negotiating with an ASIC manufacturer for cheaper prices for a bulk buy of their equipment (I will leave this manufacturer unnamed for now- if you are already an investor, I have explained the situation in our forums.) I am talking to the CEO of this company and submitting a business proposal this weekend, and hopefully I will hear back from them sometime next week. This is why I'm holding off on ordering for now, I think I can get us a better deal than what's publicly available.

Here we go again... Wink

I'm in for 50 BTC

Transaction ID: 5323350f0c5fe7a92216531c97fad2e501297b08c5b03d442f3187a9a2bdb5d2

Glad to see you're ready for round 2. Thanks! Grin

I added 1.4 BTC
817d79a472f2516b900f6394c82f4b6d2cbb8d906d4b1439e29cb3bc07ce6283

so my total participation is 6.4 now

Ok sounds good. Smiley

2365  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin on: August 23, 2013, 02:30:23 AM
it might be best for emmanuel not to answer and just deploy the 100 terrahash machinezzzz. i don't know how CH can pull this off but it's brilliant if they do.

i understand that some pro miners here keep posting CH as a scam because they are going to get difficulty way way higher once more and more people buy mining contracts from CH.

it might be best for these miners to...  nvm.

This has nothing to do about protecting my share of the network hash rate (which is very small.)

I hate to see people get scammed and lose money, but I can tell you're not the brightest crayon in the box, so go ahead and do what you want with your money.
2366  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: August 23, 2013, 12:45:35 AM
Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression that all 10k chips were stuck in customs.

On that note, I'm taking offers for my 179 chips.

Buy it now price is 12 BTC (I paid 14.34+ BTC)

You can even take ownership of the 0.06197 BTC I overpaid.  Cheesy  Grin

Please don't send me any offers via escrow contingent on raginazn delivering the chips or not.

My point of selling is to wash my hands of this group buy, all risk will be transferred to the buyer. If I still have to risk raginazn delivering or not in the sale of the chips, then there is no point in me selling my chips for a lot less than what I bought them for. I would rather just take the risk myself and receive the chips when/if that happens.

On that note, I'm lowering my buy it now offer to 11.5 BTC

2368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone demonstrated a 28nm ASIC mining bitcoin yet? on: August 23, 2013, 12:09:31 AM
I'm not so sure there will be that many incremental changes made to chips once they start to hit the process limit. I say this as I expect the margins on chips to become so slim that it would be financial ruin to invest in the NRE for another 28nm chip once you already have one.

I guess it all depends on how "good" existing designs are.  Taking HF just because they provided die size, hashrate and power info.

Quote
One 18x18mm die is able to do 400 GHash (nominal - more overclocked**)
   Hashing per square mm:
      18x18mm = 324mm^2
      400 GHash / 324mm^2 = 1.23 GHash/mm^2

Reported power consumption (at the chip) is 400 GH / 250 W = 1.6 GH/W.

So HF claims their silicon is good for 1.23 GH/mm^2 and 1.6 GH/W @ 28nm.
While they are impressive compared to 65nm tech it remains to be seen how "good" those are compared to what is possible for 28nm tech.  Are they very good, or barely adequate in the grand scheme of things?

If the run some simulations on an improved die and it shows to only be marginally better (say 1.4 GH/mm2  and 1.8 GH/W) then I agree the chip probably won't be made before moving to a smaller process. On the other if they came up with say >2.0 GH/mm^2 and >3 GH/W) it may make sense to produce a second 28nm chip.   I just wonder how much improvement is possible,  I guess once we get a couple of vendors with real 28nm silicon we should have a better idea.

I would venture to say that HashFast's implementation of 28nm process is not as good as it gets, and is more of a race to the market type design.

I think Cointerra will beat them in electrical efficiency judging by their resumes. "CoinTerra boasts a highly experienced engineering team of semiconductor architects and designers who have previously designed some of the world’s highest performance CPUs, GPUs and chipsets for NVIDIA, Intel, Samsung, Qualcomm and Nortel. Having worked on several generations of low-power mobile devices, our team brings tremendous experience in power efficient circuitry, design methodology and implementation to the exciting new frontier of Bitcoin mining. "

They are claiming "significantly less than a watt per Gh/s" on their 28nm product.

Everything arrived today and working just fine.  Thanks for the quick shipping.

Wonderful, glad to hear! That makes two happy customers.  Smiley

I still have lots of gear available. Feel free to give me an offer. I came down on my prices on the first two sales and even threw in free shipping.... won't be the last time either. Wink

2371  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: August 22, 2013, 03:56:27 AM
I'm trying to organize a time to meet the CoinTerra team, hopefully I will hear back from them soon.

Supposedly they added a 5th person to their team. Although.. they didn't tell me who the 5th person is, or what their job is. Now that I think about it, I'm not really sure why they mentioned this... I guess it was just them getting caught up in the excitement of running a start up. I can understand, this would be a very exciting project to undertake.

But anyways, they agreed to meet with me. Hopefully I will hear back from them soon as to a place and time. I will report back here with any news I find out from my trip (good or bad).

Cheers,

Ch

Sounds good Coinhoarder! Do you have the gift to gab!? You must convince them to lower their prices and come out swinging! lol

I will try.  Wink

Note that the 10k chips itself are not sent yet.

SS of my order page:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=262371.msg2983646#msg2983646

Ragingazn's current order is not in the SS (as my order page is too long), but according to it just now we're still stuck at this:

Order #10129 made on April 27, 2013. Order status: sample-chip-shipped.

Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression that all 10k chips were stuck in customs.

2376  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinCable.Com 20% of profits to Water.org New Mining Cables *Sale* on: August 22, 2013, 03:05:48 AM
Hi cycloid,

Nice to know you are offering this service.

I've usually used Cablesaurus in the past, but their prices leave a little to be desired (or however the saying goes.)

Also, I love your slogan.. "There’s NOTHING GREEN about what we do…so we’re going BLUE! 20% of all profits will be donated to water.org"

Definitely made me chuckle. Good luck with your business!

Pfffft...

I sold the washer and dryer long ago. Their hashrates left a lot to be desired.

lol +1

No washer, no dryer... all used up by rigs.

No oven for over a year either... that 50a plug will go a long ways.  Grin
