2381  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-05-17] Bitcoin Crashes After Analysts Called For A Pullback on: May 17, 2019, 04:35:48 AM

Quote
Volatility is back, that’s for sure. In the past 20 minutes, Bitcoin (BTC) has slipped at $7,800, wicking to $6,600 on Bitstamp as a result. It is rumored that this sell-off was a result of a massive sell order placed on Bitstamp, as made evident by the fact that during this dump, there has been an over $500 gap between its price, and that seen on BitMEX, Coinbase, and other major exchanges.

As of the time of writing, the crypto asset is trading at $7,100, and continues to move minute-to-minute, implying immense volatility.

This has only been corroborated that there have been colossal sell walls seen on Bitstamp, hinting that there is one entity or group of traders, likely based in Asia, that are looking to suppress the price. In fact, one commentator on Twitter quipped that such a move was catalyzed to try and liquidate BitMEX longs, which have been stacking up as Bitcoin has held around $8,000 for days on end.

Bitcoin is now trading around $7,300+ after it reached more than $8,000 a day ago marking yet another very volatile day for the king of crypto. Just a single but huge transaction was the trigger for the current plummet though there had been already some warnings from analysts that this is coming and it did happen. I am taking this as a needed correction, letting the market to take some breath and gather some more strength for the next upswing battle.

Do you see this as just another normal hallmark in bitcoin trading or is a warning us that maybe the bull run can be limited this time?

The professor is definitely right. It is really a big deal for Microsoft to embrace this technology as everyone is considering them as one of the best/biggest players in technology aside from apple, google and so on. I've also heard that the Facebook company are working their best for the security and privacy of its users. Considering blockchain as one of the talent and option for solving 2 major problems on the internet. As the old wise man said if you cannot defeat your enemy, join or adopt them. That is what Microsoft does in embracing this. (if it is really real).

We are hoping it is for real. Well, it is good to watch further developments from Microsoft on this matter and see if what they are claiming can be true or they are just disguising things. Eventually, the marketplace can determine if in this case Microsoft can be trusted with their words and not just hyping things up. Microsoft, Facebook and many other big firms are looking to the blockchain technology and see if there are innovations they can adopt and introduce into their respective platforms...this is a good trend for me though we have to closely watch how they gonna do their acts. The pressure for them to do something concrete on security and privacy issues is now pushing them to explore the blockchain technology and I am looking forward changes on this front.

The blockchain platform was built and developed by the CommBank’s Blockchain Centre of Excellence on top of the ethereum network, and was reviewed by Microsoft regarding its architecture, security and resilience.

This is showing us that people in traditional institutions are getting into the blockchain and are experimenting on how their organizations and services can be improved dramatically using the technology. Years from now, I am sure that we can see the government, the usual financial conglomerates, the Wall Street, the banking system are taking advantage of the blockchain technology enhancing what they are presently offering to their targeted markets. As the blockchain is open-source, there is no hindering for them to also join the club.
2384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SUDDEN CRASH on: May 17, 2019, 03:52:15 AM
Doesn't seem to be anything atm. Thousands of bitcoins were sold in a short moment that caused the sudden drop from $7800 to $7100. Whoever sold that 5000 btc on Bitfinex in a single swoosh seemed to have wanted to take profits but crashed the market instead. Anyways, price is slowly going back to $7300 right now yet it still amazes me how a few thousand coins can actually crash a market that hard.

Well, I think this is just another normal day in bitcoin. A single big transaction can affect the whole market but soon it can be forgotten and bitcoin can rise again. I am not personally alarmed with this development because I had seen bitcoin crashed before again and again yet it has this resiliency we know of though sometimes if there will be a winter it can take time for it to recover. We are still in the bull run right now and more players are getting in so am sure many of them are happy to see bitcoin bit a dip so they can buy at a cheaper rate...
2385  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: start trading again carefully and don't be too ambitious to get big profits ...! on: May 17, 2019, 03:37:11 AM
There's a pretty simple way to counter being too greedy in your trades. When you make a trade, set limit orders (and any applicable stoplosses under your entry) where you want to close out your order and leave them there, and make sure you adhere to whatever plans you have as well. You might miss out on potential profits and take profit too early, but that's better than holding through a pump just for it to fizzle out and retrace and perhaps end up in a loss. Also remember there is always a better entry out there if you ever feel bad about where you exit a trade. If things go wrong, wait and look for another good entry. Patience pays off in trading.

Trading involves a strong sense of discipline so that we can counter our tendency to go greedy and lose money at the end. There are now many ways that we can control our desire to go overboard and be dismayed later. We have to formulate the stop/loss strategy as this can limit our loss while still have the opportunity to make money without overdoing things (source of big disaster). I guess this makes trading not for everybody and I myself feel that I need to learn more to get my right trading habits.
2386  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-05-16] Bulls Show Weakness BTC Slips Below $8K on: May 17, 2019, 03:21:10 AM

Bitcoin price analysis shows that BTC has broken bearish through the psychological $8,000 level, with a -1.19% loss against the US dollar over the last 24 hours. Is this just a temporary correction, or could this be the start of a reversing trend?

Bitcoin price $7770.28 (-1.67%) appeared to be heading towards new heights this morning, after hitting a new 10-month high at $8,388. The celebrations, however, quickly turned to panic as a series of heavy sell-offs unraveled the asset’s price back down to $7,700.

BTC is now heading towards a bearish double top after failing to close above its previous high on May 11, at around $8,327. This will be a major test of faith for BTC buyers, as a fall below $7,700 could spell doom for the asset’s short to mid-term prospects.

Right now, bullish traders are desperately trying to prop up bitcoin’s declining value, and have so far managed to find refuge along with strong uptrend support.

As what I said in many of my posts, there is a big probability of a correction after bitcoin reached beyond the $8,000 level and it did happen. I think that this is quite expected...let's take some rest for a while so there will be no overheating and to allow those who are still planning to enter the market the chance that they need. Bitcoin is right now gathering the energy for the next kick-off and this time there is no stopping towards the $10,000 level.

What is your prediction and opinion on this: Will bitcoin made a revenge this time or will it unfortunately go back to the bearish level?

Thus, the expense of resources in creating a valid solution could deter malicious entities from attempting denial-of-service (DoS) or other attacks. Amazon, in the guise of its Amazon Web Services arm, has been rather active in the blockchain space. It claims to be simply responding to demand from its existing customers. However, thus far it has stopped short of cryptocurrency integration into its core business. From this, we can draw the conclusion that it is prioritizing the demands of corporate customers rather than end users. Towards the end of last year, it revealed two interoperable blockchain-inspired products, aimed at healthcare, supply chain, and other industries.

Source: https://bitcoinist.com/amazon-files-proof-of-work-patent-using-cryptography/

What is so clear with this development is that Amazon is working with the blockchain technology and experimenting how it can help in areas that it is concerned with. Essentially, they want the blockchain but so far not yet bitcoin as of this time. Amazon is pushing for the crypto but not the currency, as what the article above described this filing of the patent. Still, many are hopeful that soon Amazon can see the beauty of offering its buyers to use bitcoin.
2388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Pizza Day 2019 on: May 17, 2019, 03:01:48 AM

Is May 22 the unofficial bitcoin holiday? CBS seems to think so.  They are featuring a discussion about bitcoin this weekend on their weekly news show 60 Minutes.  Anderson Cooper interviewed Laszlo Hanyecz for the episode, and asked him about his request to purchase pizza with bitcoin back in May, 2010.  Nine years later that's looking like a really really expensive pizza.

That pizza story is now a very famous and important history of bitcoin and indeed that could be the most expensive pizza ordered so far. This is now one of the many good memories which many of bitcoin lovers know and we are always mesmerized thinking about it. I am glad to see the 60 Minutes talking to the guy for their show...highlighting bitcoin and its continuing ascent in the market.
2389  Other / Off-topic / Re: Solar panels possiblities on: May 16, 2019, 04:01:33 PM
I'm curious why so few ppl\companies use solar panels? It's so cheap and it'lll save some resourses of our planet. So why don't we use it?

Though the cost of electricity generated from solar projects is very less, The initial investment in solar projects is huge as solar panels and inverters are costly. Even climate conditions affect the solar energy production. These are some of few reasons causing hindrance to growth of solar energy.

Indeed, solar energy calls for huge investments and that is why only a few of our population are into solar electricity generation. Of course, if one has the capacity to invest money over time the cost can be recovered and the return of investment can be good. This is what I am planning soon when I will be developing a parcel of land my family own but the location has no traditional supply of power. We are all hoping that soon the cost of this technology can lower further so that more and more people gonna exploit the power of the sun including those involved in bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining.
2390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think ? Is this an opportunity to get in or get out on: May 16, 2019, 03:40:41 PM
Bitcoin has become more popular in the financial world due to its sudden growth but When I see exchanges there is a high percentage of people who are trying to sell there Bitcoins to make temporary gains using current price increase and some fear this is a temporary situation so they use this moment to abandon the market but My personal opinion is they doesn't understand this is a time that any investor should invest more into Bitcoins because after along time BTC has shown us it is not a Bubble or just another financial failure so as investors we should have a clear understanding in order to make this opportunity an advantage

There are many traders in exchanges and they are trading their bitcoin all the time not necessarily leaving bitcoin altogether. That can be normal buying and selling at the same time so there is nothing new with that. Now, it would be difficult if no one will be selling bitcoin even the traders. This is just part of the dynamics of the market. Bitcoin for sure is growing strong at this moment and there is that big chance that it can go up more into the so-called "moon" like what many are saying.
2391  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin on the way to $10,000 on: May 16, 2019, 02:43:08 PM
It was obvious that when we moved to above 6 thousand dollars it was beginning to look easier for us to go even higher. After 7 thousand dollars people realized this is not going to stop and it requires less and less "buys" to actually go higher, the sole reason for that is people not willing to sell for cheap and even at 8 thousand dollars people are saying "I am not selling at this price" and we are seeing that affect right now. We have really transcendent into a level where sellers are not willing to sell and buyers are keep buying which created this 10 thousand dollar price point in our heads but know that if we move beyond 10 thousand dollars it will not stop, that will make it even easier to reach 15 thousand dollars and 20 thousand dollars and more, there is no "enough" in peoples minds when it comes to profiting.

People into bitcoin are right now holding to what they got and many are even buying for more so they won't miss the bull run. It can official then that people are now avoiding the FOMO phenomenon and that we are now seeing speculations on the market. I am not so sure but I think there are now many institutional players entering the market especially that stocks are getting boring. Many of them can be bringing the hot money to bitcoin hoping to make some killing before going out. There is now that possibility that the bull run this time can go beyond the $20,000 barrier established in 2017. The order of the day for the meantime is to reach $10,000 and from there on the climb can be easier.
2392  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Looking 4 Help] Bringing the next big thing to life on: May 16, 2019, 02:19:39 PM
Are you aware of how many "decentralized video platforms" exist right now? Why on earth would people be interested in what you haven't yet developed when they have Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp aligning themselves with projects like Tatatu? Unless you have boatloads of money or the next Einstein, your idea won't succeed.

This type of project is needing good amount of money not just in setting it up, getting good people to man the project and then making sure that the project can get on the ground by promoting it to get people to use it. Remember that YouTube was not profitable for many years until such time that it already exploded and establish the name in that industry. Now, if the project can target like a niche and can offer unique selling propositions then why not? Go for it and make a crowdsale for the project...and I am hoping the project can gain some share in an overcrowded market.

2394  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I want start a social network but somethings holding me back on: May 16, 2019, 01:53:27 PM

In today's marketplace, there is a need for a better social media network one that can work with more privacy and control for the users while at the same time introducing innovations coming from the blockchain and cryptocurrency. I am wishing OP all the luck he needs and hope that he can be able to get team members who share the same ideals and energy for the project. We need more transformation on the field and we need more projects that offers something new for the people.
2395  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: iVendPay - a vending machine payment module on: May 16, 2019, 01:33:08 PM

The vending business is huge especially in many developed countries and it is catching up in several third-world countries as well. Vending provides convenience to the customers or consumers and a great business opportunity with less overhead expenses to the vending machine owners. I am sure that this is one industry that can easily adopt with cryptocurrency and can help push for more mainstream adoption. iVendPay can lead the way for this industry integrating cryptocurrency into the picture. I am thinking: Is it possible that instead of offering products the vending machine can also offer cryptocurrencies for sale?
2396  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Xequium Social Network on: May 16, 2019, 01:12:37 PM

Reading the post above, I can surmise that Xequium has the potential to be a good privacy-respecting social media network friendly to cryptocurrency and giving members the incentives to do what they usually do in maybe Facebook and similar platforms. I am just hoping that this can gain traction as we know that no matter how beautiful is the idea and the platform but if there can be no good  adoption by the market then things can just a natural death. The way I see it is that maybe there is now a demand from the people for a social network like this so maybe it can sometimes be a matter of marketing. I would be glad to hear more on how you can push this social platform to gain critical number of people that can help the site to grow for more...
2397  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Haven't you thought about it? See for more on: May 16, 2019, 12:51:02 PM
I have ever seen this kind of project but I can't remember which one. The system is the same, ones could pawn something and get what they need. Everything is done through blockchain to ensure the accountability. But it's not really popular, people know more about lending and loans but not with pawning.

When an idea is lacking the support of the market usually even if the idea can be attractive it will just a natural death. The idea of pawning anything and in exchange one can get bitcoin can be good but implementing it can be so hard because pawnshops are usually community-based and it can be hard to bring it online. Maybe we can instead go for a marketplace where can sell anything (just like the eBay set-up) and in exchange instead of cash the buyer has to pay what he wanted with bitcoin...I think this can be workable especially if there is a bull run like what we have now. People who don't have bitcoin can sell anything that they can dispose in exchange for cryptocurrency.
2398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptopia is gone? on: May 16, 2019, 10:29:55 AM

It wouldn't be fair if they just close without giving their users the time to withdraw their funds. From everything I've seen, thats how it works.
They'd tried to revive the exchange, to see them coming back after the hack is something positive. Its still got some way to go of course but without a fighting chance, they may close. I'm not sure what they exactly mean on their announcement but my understanding is that the Liquidator Grant Thornton will act on their behalf probably they will continue its operation.

They chose not to open the withdrawal process maybe because a lot of user accounts were affected by the hack and so it is possible that your account may have zero -- nothing remained in there. Unlike Binance, Crytopia did not establish a fund that can mitigate any successful hack and that is why this exchange is officially dead. Let's hope that the receiver can equitably distribute what belongs to its users. Crytopia was short of a vision and anticipation while they are aware that they are in an industry that is in danger everyday as hackers are evolving to be sophisticated and innovative in their jobs.
2399  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Mungkahi para sa 2019 senatorial candidate on: May 16, 2019, 10:20:26 AM
I don't hear anyone from the senators that will win this election that are vocal about crypto. Hoping there will be a representative but the biggest problem is how our voice be heard. Don't know if it's possible but many in congress in the form or party list. Sorry if it's a stupid idea, I just don't know the requirement to represent a party list. We have gabriella, anak bayan, so maybe we might have crypto pinoy soon.

In the Philippines, voters are more interested on how they can entertained and what they can get during elections hence candidates are more inclined not to delved into real issues and innovations that can help the country. I am sure that there can be one or two that can understand the cryptocurrency industry especially coming from the lower congress. In the senate, there is boxer Manny Pacquiao who seems to be open to the idea of cryptocurrency as he is working with an exchange to introduce his own coin. As to party-list winners, I don't rely on them much as many of them are just extensions of political dynasties and may not be gunning for innovative ideas. Good thing that our SEC and Central Bank people are not actually closing their minds on cryptocurrency manifested by approvals of many exchanges to soon operate in the country.
2400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The price of BTC has set a new high on: May 16, 2019, 10:07:45 AM

Obviously, cryptocurrency market lead by bitcoin is on the bull run right now so it is setting new highs after the winter everybody experienced following the 2017 bull run ignited by speculations and manipulations. Interestingly, you seem to be very excited about TNB and I am assuming that you are hiding a hoard of it right now so you are rejoicing of its climb. There is that strong possibility that there can be little correction hereon before bitcoin is going to get over the $10,000 barrier. What can happen after that is everybody's guess.
