241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 12, 2018, 04:37:47 PM
Is anyone else amazed at how much clubs are spending on players.   I'm a big football fan but it blows my mind how people get paid tens of millions to kick a ball around while people are starving across the globe.

The amount of money being spent is ridiculous, but that's business for you and I doubt you'd be complaining if you were getting paid vast sums to do something you love. Getting near one million a month is silly and nobody needs that much. Money has  given the game a sour taste in my opinion and there should be more limits on what you can spend and who you can buy as smaller clubs don't even have a chance at competing and the wealthiest ones always dominate and get the best players. Look at Manchester City. In 2001 they were a Championship team and they were always a mid-table team in the Premier League until their team was bought by some wealthy Arabs and then everyone wanted to play for them once they were making record-breaking signings. They essentially bought the title in 2011-2012 season and they've remained one of the best teams since only attracting the best players due to the wages they'll pay and obviously that also equals success. Wealthy owners could buy any team and just throw a load of money at them and hey presto you'll probably get your league title within a few years. Don't get me wrong, all these world class players in the Premier League makes for a great spectacle but if any other League in the world offered them better wages the players would soon leave. We're already seeing this with the Chinese league and MLS are poaching a lot of ageing players but I think it's only a matter of time before they will start to attract more star signings in their prime and become a dominant league.

If we live in a libertarian society , where you were able to run a free market paradise , without hurting anyone of course ...

What business would you run?

What type of libertarian society do you mean? One with no government controls at all? In that case I'd have some sort of Hunger Games / The Purge type scenario where you can run around killing anyone you like  Grin. Total anarchy is never great as people can't be trusted to play nice.

On a serious note I kinda like how a whole cannabis industry has popped up in some US states and other countries like the Netherlands. If cannabis was legal in my country I would probably open up a dispensary /smoking room. I haven't smoked weed since my teens but I don't agree with drug prohibition and I know it would make a great business here and take in a lot of money. I quite like the idea of social cubs or coffee shops in Amsterdam where people just go to chill have a chat and coffee or maybe even play a game of pool. Will probably be a long time before it's legal in my country but hopefully we can take after the states once they see the industry is working and they're missing out on millions in taxes.

Probably in the future, as of now we all know that crypto is somewhat "dying" and there is no point to advertise it like that. Crypto is indeed more popular compared with  few years ago but I dont think that more than 20 % of the worlds productive population actually know about crypto. All they know is crypto is like the magic money from the internet that could make you rich, thats all

How is crypto dying? If it is shouldn't you be getting out whilst you can? If it's pointless advertising with football teams then why has one company just started doing so? Most people probably don't care about tires either but that never stopped Pirelli or Continental tires sponsoring teams and tournaments. The crypto industry is only going to continue to grow regardless of the current value and whether it is going up and down. The ETF may eventually get the go ahead or some other good news may happen and the value will probably rebound. Will crypto be dying then?
244  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-07] Bitcoin Speculators, Not Drug Dealers, Dominate Crypto Use Now on: August 11, 2018, 07:44:59 PM
I imagine this is similar with most technologies as they become more popular. They say that criminals are always the first people to adopt new technology as they see the potential in things and it was probably the case for swords, guns, cars, computers, the internet, cell phones and so on. I'm sure governments were all afraid of those things at first but you can't stop a good idea. Eventually technology catches on with the general public but of course this takes time. Not every body had a portable phone or computer overnight and initially they were only really available to the rich or business men but now pretty much everyone has one now. Bitcoin could be the same, just give it time and keep spreading the word and at least you can be one of those to say you were one of the early investors and saw the potential when nobody else did.

Criminals shifting from bitcoin to monero still means that the whole cryptocurrency still dominates the means of transactions especially in the darkweb. Privacy coins should not be encouraged and should be removed in the blockchain system.

This is silly. People should be free to use them if they wish. Plus, there's no way you can remove things from the 'blockchain system'. I think this is one of the whole points of having a decentralized currency in the first place in that someone who doesn't like something or the powers that be can't just vote to have it removed. If you don't like them they you are free to use them but they will have their genuine uses such as when governments want to silence people or seize their assets unjustly.

245  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-10] New Bill Proposes 5% Tax on Crypto Incomes in Ukraine on: August 11, 2018, 07:26:23 PM
5% is a pretty big tax, especially for miners these days hardly make decent profits.
.

You don't pay taxes do you? 5% is tiny. Capital gains taxes are often 20% or more. 5% is a steal. Miners will probably pay income taxes anyway which will certainly be higher than 5% that's for sure.

Although i hate taxes this one is pretty fair. Not only that it is only 5%, but it's also charged only when you convert to fiat money, which you don't have to do at all. Many countries want you to pay on your crypto profits regardless of whether you exchange for fiat or not. There's a civil war being waged in there so it's no surprise they need money. Of course introducing taxes while some of your neighbors (Belarus) have none is shooting yourself in the leg.

Love or hate taxes it's the price you gotta pay to live in a functioning society. The best and simplest way to tax crypto is only when you cash out, then pay what you owe on your gains. Trying to tax transactions and trades etc is both cumbersome and silly and only makes things difficult for everyone.
246  Other / Off-topic / Re: how to improve my English speaking? plz suggest me. on: August 11, 2018, 07:18:39 PM
Read as many books as you can. Watch as many films as you can with the subtitles on which will help you very fast and is helpful if you can't yet read English very well because you can hear the audio in your own language but read the subtitles at the same time which is essentially auto translating for you. This is a very quick way to pick things up.
247  Other / Off-topic / Re: Horror movie suggestions? on: August 11, 2018, 07:15:44 PM
A Quiet Place was the best one I've seen in a while. It stars Emily Blunt and was written and directed by her husband who played Jim in The Office.

I think my favorite horror movie of all time is The Exorcist though. Scared the crap outta me as a kid and is still genuinely scary and was well ahead of its time and hugely inflectional to horror. The original Blair Witch Project was also very original and insanely creepy, not to mention birthing an entire genre of found footage films(even if most of them were crap). I think a big part of it's effectiveness of being scary was because it seemed very real and some people even thought it was lol.

249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 11, 2018, 06:58:15 PM
It is still better than having nothing at all, it cost alot to be the main sponsor. You should consider this as a great first step because crypto will be getting much more exposure

I know it's expensive, but bitcoin is becoming a huge industry. Coinbase apparently value itself as an 8 billion dollar company which is probably more than the value of some of companies that sponsor the smaller teams who sit mid and bottom of the table.

I just saw this article which is interesting: https://www.statista.com/statistics/254513/value-of-jersey-kit-sponsorships-in-the-barclays-premier-league-by-club/

Huddersfield get 1.5 million for their shirt deal - Ope Sports (never heard of them). American Express sponsor Brighton also for 1.5 million who are a huge business. Man United are the biggest earners with a whopping 47 million from Chevy. Looking at those figures Coinbase or someone similar could easily afford to drop 1.5 million on sponsoring a Premier League team. The teams in the Championship will be much much cheaper as well.

By the way I noticed that Everton are apparently sponsored by Angry Birds as that was what they were wearing on their jersey sleeves. Made me chuckle  Grin
Fortunately my 2 bets on the game went through yay Cheesy I thought Wolves were going to win though being a player up. We got the first draw in the league, albeit an eventful one.

People still play angry birds?  Shocked
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't worry, Bitcoin will be fine. on: August 11, 2018, 06:45:48 PM
why does everyone start to panicking when they see the price of Bitcoin dropping so much, in my opinion it is natural that the price of Bitcoin falls because Bitcoin has experienced the same thing as now, so I suggest not to be afraid and panic.

Why does everyone panic? Why does everyone get excited when the opposite happens and the value rises? People panic because nobody likes to see their investment losing value by the second. It's always a scary and troubling sight/feeling even if it's just part and parcel of bitcoin.I don't sweat the fluctuations but sometimes it's alarming when bitcoin can fall by hundreds in a day and there's also always the possibility of that time where it falls too far or becomes more expensive to mine bitcoin than the market value. What then? We can't keep saying this forever:

251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who controls the crypto market? on: August 11, 2018, 06:37:35 PM
I have been following the crypto scene for the past year and sometimes even though some companies do well their token price drastically goes down and this is the same with btc too. People like john mcafee and roger ver are always talking about how we should get ready for the bullish market but yet the price keeps on decreasing and so i'm asking how and who controls the price. If there is anyone who might be running it?

Two words: Supply & demand. Something is only worth what others are prepared to pay for it, but of course there's probably some manipulation here and there, especially with a lot of alt coins that pop up but they're usually designed to be pump and dumps anyway and the owners of them create them in the first place so they can dump them as soon as they can and then run off with as much money as possible so take that into consideration when investing. Of course, you can also make money off them if you time it right but it's a very shady and unscrupulous industry if you ask me. I'd rather just stick with bitcoin.

Damn, of course I missed that, had this page open on my desktop PC but I'm just not able to use it for too long.
Oh, at least there are 37 more rounds to enter.
You can bet how many more I'll miss  Grin

I think they're just doing it for the month of August. The competition hilariousandco linked to above is all season though. Maybe join that?
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the existence of bitcoins a threat to jobs and national currencies? on: August 11, 2018, 06:11:05 PM
How the hell is bitcoin a threat to jobs? It's the compete opposite. Literally tens of thousands of jobs have been created by bitcoin's creation. It's not only spawned an entire industry but also an ecosystem that has popped up around it and countless other cryptos based on bitcoin which all also have their own little enterprises. Whenever another crypto company is founded that's more jobs that have been created out of nothing. When companies grow and expand as many are very rapidly they also need to employ more people to cope with demand. It's also made many millionaires and even some billionaires who probably now never have to work again. So no, it's not a threat. It's probably not a threat to national currencies either, but I can see it as a viable alternative to fiat. Maybe it could even become like a defacto borderless currency like the Euro but for worldwide usage. I also think it's possible that bitcoin could be adopted by a nation who's currency is in trouble or has become worthless due to inflation or whatnot. That would be a really cool experiment. Might be a while before that happens and given the current fluctuations I'm not sure it would be a good idea yet but maybe in the future once bitcoin has gained some sort of stability.
254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you have faith in Satoshi Nakamoto? can FBI be Satoshi Nakomoto ? on: August 11, 2018, 05:49:24 PM
You know DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation and similar agency) have large RnD budgets.
Internet(first intranet) and TOR developed by similar agencies and that they followed criminal thereupon merchandise.
And we recognize that 1st deep-mined bitcoins aren't moving, who doesn't touch his ten billion USD? If S.N. is dead perhaps that's why however if not it perhaps a government project.ud

Or maybe he's an altruist and doesn't think it's fair to touch them? Or maybe he's the worlds biggest believer in bitcoin and is hodling them to the max to cash out as a trillionaire? Who knows.

I find this theory that bitcoin was created by the CIA/FBI as completely baseless. Sure, they might have created it. It might also be technology created by aliens:

Personally I think satoshi was likely just one very smart guy who came up with a genius idea and put it out into the world for the better. Maybe he's now dead or maybe he just wants to let bitcoin take it's natural course whilst observing from afar, but if he ever wants to out himself I'm sure he will. Doubt that he will or whether it would be a good thing though.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 11, 2018, 05:28:38 PM
Wow, I had no idea about the crypto sponsorship. Here's the full story for anyone else interested: https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/20180704-wolves-unveil-coindeal-as-shirt-sleeve-sponsor/

With Wolves' equaliser and Jagielka's red card, 2-1 to Wolves seems like a good chance.

Hopefully it will pique people's interest, but I wouldn't get too excited just about a sleeve sponsorship. When a team has the full sponsorship on the front of the shirt then I'll get excited. I wonder who would be the first to do that? Maybe some company like Coinbase or something?
256  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you still holding when market price falls abnormally? on: August 11, 2018, 12:25:25 PM
I like to know your stand against the current market price falls down that relatively almost in the danger zone for the crypto holders if they still hold their crypto it might be one day that they will going to lose all their money. My ideals is different i had to sell it though it means that i had to lose some of my money. Anyway i could invest again when market price recovers but not for now seeing crypto market looks so bad. Will you still hold?

What is abnormal? Bitcoin has always gone through these cycles, but the crashes are usually caused by panic sellers selling. If you want to cut your losses then sell, or if you are brave and have the balls and still believe in bitcoin long-term then keep holding.

Thing is Man Utd didn’t bring him in to finish 3rd, 4th or 5th did they? He’s on massive wages, if they wanted to be also rans they could have kept Van Gaal or even Moyes.

Mourinho has to compete seriously for the  PL or CL this season or else he’ll get sacked ino.

But Mourinho isn't a magician. He can only work with the squad he's got and when City, Liverpool, and Spurs all have much stronger squads imo there's not much he can do about it, hence why fourth and a Champions league play off spot is probably the best they can hope for. I think that would be a successful season for them. Maybe they can shine in other tournaments/cups but I don't think they've got a chance with the Premier League and this isn't Jose's fault (imo). If they can't win it with Mourinho then I doubt they'll be able to win it with anyone else either. Teams blame managers for too much these days and I don't think they should be sacked the moment they don't win the league. If United finish 7/8/9th then maybe, but not top 3/4/5th especially considering the strength of their opponents.

Sorry but I disagree, see the image below. Since Mourinho was employed he’s spent the 2nd highest amount (net spend) on transfer fees. He’s got nobody to blame but himself, this is his squad.

Still, you can only work with the squad you've got regardless of how much you've spent. He might have spent a lot but he's not spent as much as City nor got players as great as they have. Same goes for Liverpool. Managers rarely get all the players they want and if they did get all the superstars then they'd probably win the title.

259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone could create a two way factor digital wallet? on: August 07, 2018, 11:51:12 AM
I like the idea that every time you do a transfer on your digital wallet to another digital wallet a two way factor should be indicated thus it will notify the owner if there is any transactions to be made so as to secure more the digital wallet being held. I wish that this is already applied on some digital wallets and if there is any please comment on the thread and i will checked on it. This will minimize hackers to hack digital wallet.

What wallets are you using at the moment? They may already have 2 factor options. I would recommend investing in a hardware wallet though. Ledger Nano is my preferred one as they're relatively cheap and built pretty well. They can store a lot of alt coins as well and especially most of the big ones.

https://www.ledger.com/

They have a more expensive 'Blue' model with touch screen but I haven't used one. I likely will purchase one eventually but they're quite expensive.
